Slowly she moved and sat down on the chair next at the table next to JP.

"I am with my friend." she whispered. "You saved my life... again." She looked at him; a shadow of his former self. He seemed smaller perhaps. His lack of confidence and pride leaving him deflated maybe. In some ways, she saw herself in JP. She had been in his position in the past at the hands of the same men. She had been saved by a friend and she hoped that she could be as good a friend to JP.

"Youre better than this. What they did... Nobody else knows... Don't let them take away who you were...who you are. They cant take it if you dont let them. I know. Really I do. If you... " she paused for a moment and looked at the gun lying on the table in front of him. "... if you do this, then they win." She stared at him not really sure whether he was hearing her. She moved from her chair... moved onto her knees at his side and placed her hands on his thigh looking up at him. "Please JP. Don't... dont leave me on my own. I need you... I... I want you...."
 
Katie was right......JP had no confidence......he had no pride.....he was not only deflated but defeated. He wasn't nor would he even be the same man JP once was. JP was surprised by Katie saying for him not to leave her and that she needed him. Then when Katie said that she wanted him......JP turned his head slightly looking at her. For the first time she could see that marks left by the tears on his face. " You don't need some broken down old man......I'm worthless now.......I don't even feel like a.........man......... ' JP said then he trailed off as a lump came into his throat. JP just didn't see himself as a man anymore.....Jimmy and the others had ripped that from him.

"I don't believe it. I don't believe a worthless piece of crap like jimmy Crenshaw can break you. And you are only worthless if you let ... JP never thought of Katie as a whore. She didn't take money from people for sex......she didn't work in a whorehouse. He reached down picking up his coat then slipped it on.....finally his black hat was placed upon his head then JP was ready to join the others at the party.
 
Katie smiled. She was genuinely pleased that JP was willing to go downstairs and have at least one drink. She watched as he stood up, put his gun and gun belt back on and fixed his hat securely on his head. She was still on her knees when he was finished, still smiling. He stopped and looked at her somewhat confused. She held her hand out and after a slight hesitation, JP reached out and pulled her to her feet.

Katie wrapped herself around his right arm. "I'd be proud to buy you a drink or three Marshall... And I think there are a lot more people downstairs who feel the same way."

The two of them walked downstairs and a few minutes later entered the crowded bar of the whorehouse. Most of the working girls seemed to be paired up with one of Calvera's men, although Katie couldn't help but wonder if it light of the celebration they might give their services for free tonight. The two walked out of his room then down the stairs....Katie had her arm wrapped around JP's as they walked. Soon they walked into the whorehouse which was acrossed the street from the hotel JP & Katie were staying in. It was easy too see that everyone was having a great time....it seemed that most of the town was here. The people who had lived in fear of the Crenshaw's were finally free from their rule. The new Mayor came up to Katie & JP....he introduced himself then shook JP's hand thanking him for his help. Mayor Harris then looked at Katie whom he knew when she first came to town 2 years ago.

Mayor Harris thanked Katie for everything she did in saving Victorville then he laid the Town Marshal's badge down in front of her. He then begged Katie to take the job saying that everyone on the newly formed town counsel felt that she was the most trust worthy person to hold this office. JP could see the look of doubt forming on Katie's face then he pushed the badge closer to her. " This town needs someone who cares enough to fight for even if they don't know they were fighting for it. " JP said then he smiled softly at Katie placing his hand onto hers. " You're the right person for this job Katie......I believe you can do it. " JP added hoping the confidence he had in Katie would make her do the right thing.
 
She liked being out with JP... Out on his arm. And she was genuinely proud to be on his arm. It had been a long time since she had felt this good. It had been a long time since she had felt this safe. She smiled at the new Mayor. Harris was a good choice. And when he placed the bage down on the bar in front of her, she was sure he was going to ask JP to swap one badge for another and stay in town. She was genuinely surprised when the invitation was made to her.

She immediately started to shake her head a little.

"I don't know Mayor. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm honoured, but maybe you should get a proper law man to do the job." she was surprised even more when JP pushed the hedge towards her and said he thought she should do it. She stared back at him, stunned a little., opening and closing her mouth, like a fish out of water, without saying anything. jP laughed at her, then picked up the badge and pinned it above her left breast. She looked down as the silver star, then back up. She smiled and then shook the Mayor's hand.

"Looks like you have yourself a town Marshall, Mr. Mayor
 
Mayor Harris was beaming as he shook Katie's hand. He then turned around announcing to everyone in the bar that Katie was the new Town Marshal of Victorville! The crowed cheered....hooping and whistling even though most were to drunk already to understand. " In the morning we start train you how to use and wear a gun. " JP said as he leaned closer to Katie when the people all cheered for Katie. He knew that she needed to start wearing a pistol on her hip instead of carrying it in her coat pocket. " If you're gonna learn.....you should learn from the best. " JP added and although it seemed very boastful for him to say that....it was true.....JP out drew Jack in this very place.

Lilly came bouncing up to Katie.....she wrapped her arms around Katie's neck then locked Katie's lips into a deep.....passionate kiss. JP raised an eye brow watching Katie & Lilly kissing each other then Lilly broke the kiss looking over at JP. Lilly said how sorry she was.....but hearing the news about Katie made her so very happy. JP smiled as he nodded his head....it was easy too see that Katie & Lilly were quite the pair. Lilly again laid Jimmy's diary on the bar....Lilly said that she read more of what Jimmy wrote. It explained that Katie's Uncle Walter was murdered by Jack & Jimmy when he wouldn't tell them where his gold mine was. Then Lilly pointed out that Jimmy wrote down that Victor finally found the mine and it's location was in the diary. With a huge grin on her face Lilly proudly told Katie that she was the richest woman in the state!
 
Katie laughed a little nervously at the enthusiasm with which the mayor shook her hand. And when JP leaned in and told her he would teach her to literally shoot from the hip, she leaned back against him, and nodded. "You have yourself a deal Marshall. I just hope you know what you're getting yourself into."

As the crowd's attention drifted back to whatever they were doing before the Mayor's announcement, Katie knocked back another small glass of whiskey. She was losing count of how much she had drunk, but she knew that JP was an entire bottle ahead of her and no-one would ever know to look at him. Before she could think anything else, she was once again hit almost full force by one of Lily's hugs. What was different this time was the kiss that went with it. As lily kissed her and eased her tongue into Katie's mouth, Katie found her mind drifting back to only a few nights before...upstairs in the bath... Without really thinking about it, Katie began to kiss Lily back not really aware of the heads in the room that were starting to turn.

When Lily broke the kiss and apologised to JP, Katie felt her cheeks flush and she looked away, quickly picking up another glass. Then she was aware of what Lily was saying to her. It seemed to take a while before her brain recognised what was being said. She looked wide eyed to lily and then to JP and then to lily.

"What the hell am I going to do with a gold mine? "
 
JP found Lilly to be quite charming....she had an innocents about her even though she worked in a whorehouse. He noticed the blush that came over Katie's face when the kiss was broken. When Katie asked what the hell was she going to do with a gold mine JP raised an eye brow. Katie had just found out that she was the richest woman in California and she was worried about what she would do with her gold mine. " Well you should hire some people to work the mine for you.....then invest your money in local and state businesses. " JP said as he moved the diary closer to Katie. " You could help this town grow......and from what I've just read here.........you've got a nice spread of land just south of town. " Of course JP was talking about the land that had been forced from her by the Crenshaw's 2 years ago.

Hearing JP say that Katie should invest in some businesses made Lilly's bright blue eyes sparkle. She spoke up say how the girls who worked in the whorehouse had a meeting. Those who wanted to stay here and keep working wanted Katie to but this place. For most of these girls it was the only way for them to remain in town and make a living. Lilly then said that she would be willing to run the place for Katie.

Crops needed planting, then watering, then harvesting and selling. Cattle needed breeding and feeding and selling. Everything quite literally had a season. But now here JP was talking about running a mine...about investments. And Lily was suggesting that she ... what... buy the whorehouse... from whom? Were there any Crenshaws's left? Did they have any heirs that were likely to come along at some point and claimit back. Lily's farm... her own land... that was different but there was nothing to say that the Crenshaws had done anything except buy the whorehouse.

Lily had a point of course. Cowboys and miners liked to drink. And they liked to fuck. if the girls wanted to stay... wanted to keep working then cowboys and the miners would stay and would spend their money in town. But who really owned the place now?

"We'll have to get a lawyer.... make sure that we handle this proper... legal. But Im not sure that I could own this place and be Marshall..." she looked to JP. "...could I?"
 
JP could see the look of doubt spreading acrossed Katie beautiful face. Sure there were many issue that needed looking into.....but in time everything would workout. JP would stay in town until everything was settled for Katie....he was do for a leave of absences and honestly there wasn't a place he rather be then here helping Katie. JP started leafing through the diary until he found the page where Jimmy explained how Victor took the whorehouse from a woman. The woman's name was Alice Tate who was known around town as " Big Alice " since she dressed out at 295 lbs. During the time that Victor was buying everything up worth buying.....he came acrossed the idea of having a whorehouse. Alice was then murdered....her body dump in the desert for the buzzards to eat. JP pointed out that since no clear owner was now alive the town could take over as owner and sell off the property. He also pointed out that there were tow lawyers in town so making sure everything was legal would be easy. " I'm do for some leave.......I'll take it and stay here to help you get the town and your affairs into shape. " JP added as he reached out touching Katie softly on her cheek. He then told Katie that many Town Marshal's......County Sheriff's and even a few United States Marshal's own place like this.....he said that his oldest friend Wyatt Earp has owned many Saloons over the years and some where even whorehouses.
 
Katie looked at him, her eyes wide and bright.

"Really. You think its ok to own it and be a Marshall. We could draw up a deed of sale maybe. The Mayor can sell it to me on behalf of the Town. It would give a Town Council some money to do some good... invest in the place. I could make sure that the girls all got a proper wage. If the place doesn't make enough money then I'll supplement the wages. Make sure that none of the cow-hands or miners roughed them up ... unless the girls wanted that I guess..." she smiled sheepishly and shrugged. "Make sure the Doc comes in once a week." She turned to Lily

"You really want to run the place? What about reclaiming your land? You wouldn't have to work if you didn't want to. And certainly not here." Lily smiled back at her. Unseen by anyone, she slipped a hand onto Katie's hip and then softly over her ass as Katie stood next to the bar.

"Im pretty sure you don't have the first idea about how to run a whorehouse. I do. And I'd want to do it... very much."

Katie felt Lily's hand but didn't move. She smiled, perhaps a little more nervously that might have appeared logical.

"Well... let's use some of the money from the mine to put your father's place back in working order. You could get someone in to run the place for you... give you another income. But if you want to stay here... take charge of everything... that sure is fine with me."
 
Lilly couldn't help herself.....she started to lightly squeeze Katie's ass while Katie was talking. " I don't know anything about farming.......but maybe we could use the land to building something for the town. " Lilly said as a look of lust filled her eyes. Katie was surprised at how much she liked what Lily was doing. She didn't really know how to respond, particularly in a room full of people, although she suspected she would be equally unsure if it were just the two of them. She smiled again, whilst unknown to anyone at that moment Lily was thinking about how much time she could have Katie on her knees. "well I guess it's up to you want you want to do with your own land Lily. Your place might be a little far out of town for a hospital or a school though. We have to make sure that there is enough to generate an income for the town though."

Suddenly an argument broke out at the far side of the bar. jP looked over, then looked at Katie.

"Let me sort this one for tonight. They just need to spend the night in the cells.." with that he stepped away into the crowd leaving Katie and Lily at the bar. Lily stepped a little closer to Katie but was still watching the Marshall walk away. "He's a good man"

Katie smiled, also watching him. "Yes...he is." then she became aware of Lily stepping directly in front of her, making a very visible move to reach around Katie for a bottle, and then pouring two drinks. As she did so, she drew her hand around so that it was between her and Katie, resting gently on the mound between Katie's legs. Katie said nothing. She didn't move. She breathed a little more deeply as lily applied a little more pressure and then brough one of the glass up to Katie's mouth. "Maybe you and me should go into the office... Work out what things need to be done." lily suggested.

"Don't you think we'll be missed?" Katie asked a little nervously. Lily shook her head, then picked up the bottle. She smiled then turned, took a step and then waited. Only when Katie moved to follow did she carry on walking, her smile a little broader. Katie wasn't entirely sure what she was doing.

A few feet away, unseen by either of them, one of the miners smiled to himself. He had seen what Lily had been doing and he wondered whether either of them knew how much money the people in the bar would pay to see what he guessed was about to happen in the office. He smiled to himself and went back to his bottle.
 
Normally JP would have brought Katie over showing her how to stop these fights before they get to far....but he felt that Katie needed to get into being a Town Marshal slowly. The fight had started over two cowboys who had been playing cards. There was one woman who they both wanted but instead of sharing her which is what she had suggested they started a fight. One cowboy was laying on the floor having just been knocked down JP grabbed the other one who was still standing. The cowboy turned then took a swing at JP who ducked it easily then JP pulled his pistol and belted the man over his head knocking him out. JP then had Calvera & Chano help take this two down the Marshal's office where they could sleep it off for the night.

Back when JP served as a Town Marshal he found that this was the quickest way to subdue troublemakers without shooting them. After all these men weren't hired gun men.....they were just cowboys who had a little to much fun. Calvera who wasn't fond of lawmen found himself liking JP.....he thought that he was crazy since his actions during the gun battle.....but crazy like a fox. Calvera started calling JP loco zorro which roughly means crazy fox in Spanish. Once the two cowboys were behind bars for the night JP.....Calvera & Chano returned to the bar. JP noticed that Katie & Lilly were gone......so he stood at the bar waiting too see if they returned.......but he didn't wait alone since Calvera joined him.

Lilly knew that seeing two women together would bring in a lot of money.....and with two who were as beautiful as Katie & Lilly.....that would easily double. Lilly waited for Katie to enter then she closed to door to the office. Lilly placed two glasses down on the desk then poured two more shots. She handed one to Katie then took the other for herself. " A toast.....to new friends and a new life. " Lilly said as she held her glass out towards Katie. In her mind Lilly had been wanting to tell Katie how she felt about her. Lilly had fallen in love with Katie.....she still liked being with men......but Lilly had always been drawn to women. She needed to tell Katie the truth........but there was great fear in her. Fear that Katie would reject her again like she did the night they first met.....something like that would surely break Lilly's heart.
 
Katie took the glass from her and smiled. She wasnt entirely sure what was going to happen. Maybe she was misunderstanding things. Maybe Lily had just wanted to come into the office to work out what they needed to do. Katie emptied the glass in one mouthful but some of it went down the wrong way and she choked... coughed... She wiped her hand over her mouth and laughed. Lily smiled back at her and stepped a little closer, lifting her hand and drawing her thumb across Katie's chin.

"You missed a bit"

"Sorry. I really do know where my mouth is... most of the time anyway."

Lily laughed but she didnt move away. She took the glass from Katie's hand and put it and her own on the table. And then she stepped a little closer. Katie didn't move. Maybe she hadnt gotten the wrong idea after all.

Then she looked down and smiled, watching Lily's finger as it worked over the badge and then kept on going. She stood still, watching, her heart pounding, enjoying the feel of Lily's touch. She listened to what Lily was saying. it was... it barely made any sense to her. But at the same time katie knew that she cared for Lily. That she wanted what was happening right now. And when Lily kissed her again, Katie kissed her right back. When they broke, Katie took a breath.

"I... I dont rightly know what to say." She shook her head just a little but was still smiling. "I do care for you Lily and I... I want to be... with you... but right now, I don't know if I can say any more than that. So... I dont know that I can quite give you what exactly what you want... but Im not going anywhere." She shrugged a little. "And seeing as we are being honest here... I think Im kind of in love with JP." She really didn't want to hurt Lily and she didn't want to turn her away, but she couldn't lie to her either.
 
Lilly's hands moved down undoing Katie's pants while she was speaking. It came as no surprise that Katie was in love with JP.....after all he was a tall....powerfully built handsome man. Lily giggled. "I'm pretty sure that there isn't a man out in that bar...in this town... That wouldn't like the idea of first if all watching, and then joining in with us in bed. The smile drifted off of Katie's face for a moment.

"Part of me... Kind of like what jack..."

"I know. I could see it earlier when he held you.. How you were with him,'

Lily's hands moved over .Katie's thighs and hips.

"You must thnk I'm stupid."
