Ferrets are also... not very smart.
Friends of mine had their first ferret, and one night they had a candle burning, and the ferret got curious about the flame. They figured, hey, learning experience, he gets burned once, steers clear.
They finally had to blow out the candle when the smell of singed hair got to be too powerful.
Plus, they musk all over the damn place and their teeth do that rodent thing where they never stop growing, so they instinctively gnaw on everything.
Cute, they may be, but every pet has a trade-off.
