Once Ezio set her down, Alba tightened herself into a ball, drawing her knees close to her chest and covering her face with her hands. She cried and cried until she had no strength left to squeeze out another tear. The muscles in her legs and chest ached from the mad dash to the gallows and she began to gently knead them, whimpering now and then.

As Alba attempted to recover from the shock of losing her brother, Ezio, turned to Claudia. "Is the body here?" he asked her seriously.

"Yes; they just brought a man's body not a few minutes ago, but wouldn't say anything. Who is it? Her husband?" Claudia replied worriedly, glancing at Alba. Ezio shook his head.

"No, her fratello, Matteo," he answered. With a swift movement of his hands, Ezio pulled down his black hood, exposing his face. A beard covered his jaw, connecting to his hair, which was pulled back into a neat ponytail. He sighed gently, then turned to Alba to see her nursing her sore legs and chest. Walking forward, he kneeled down and gently pushed her hands away to sink his calloused, scarred fingers into her legs, kneading them softly and expertly. "It's be all right, mio caro Alba. I know it," he whispered, looking into her eyes, hoping to give her strength.
