"Hey, Zack!"

The call came not a moment too soon, Noah smiling and giving a short, quick wave as he walked over. He could already see Donna there as well, that was a good thing. Everyone was here that so far needed to be. He was just glad he didn't see screamo kid or that-lady-he-apparently-made-hot-with-his-voice-that-sort-of-creeped-him-out.

"Hello Donna, nice to see you again as well," he said, extending a hand to her and shaking; before repeating the same with Zack, just a bit longer though. "So, I have a few songs I suppose we could try... mind looking over them?" He handed Donna a quickly written down list of five or six songs, just hoping Zack had 'em.

(I ran out of songs. Lul. Assistance please? XD I'm music-brain-dead. And currently on a hyphen addiction.)

( Face, meet my palm... you couldn't think of any songs! xD Oye! But since you left it up to me >.> You are at my mercy muah ha ha ha ha! )

Zack smiled brightly, oh thank the Heavens! He thought. He shook his hand firmly, wanting to linger in that welcoming grip for a little while longer. But when Noah let go, so did he. Donna watched them after greeting him.

Donna smiled and looked over the list. Circling the songs she felt would really bring out his voice. OneRepublic - Stop and Stare. The Fray - Over My Head (Cable Car). Linkin Park - New Divide. She handed the list over to Zack, "And you can help him sing the last one..." Watching his ears tuck down a little, she leaned in and spoke quietly. "You can do it honey... find your muse..." Smiling gently to him before she leaned back and handed his mic over. "Time to get this show on the road..." He have a half smile to her, it was grateful and unsure.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Time to get this party started with Zack Attack Karaoke!" The crowd roared happily. Zack gave a long gaze to Noah as he spoke, "And up now is Donna!" The crowd cheered as the woman took the mic.

Donna leaned over to Noah, "Warm up your voice because you're next..." She patted his shoulder and sang "At Last" By Celine Dion.

(Ay karumba. I'm. So. Dead. XD)
(I do freaking love Linkin Park though.)

Noah watched the exchange between the two as he ran the songs chosen through his head, almost blushing at her words. Apparently, Zack would be singing with him on the last song... perfect! He smiled happily and nodded to Donna.

"Of course... Don't want to disappoint anyone," he replied, grinning. He leaned against a wall and cleared his throat, softly singing to himself the lyrics of the chosen songs, among others as well. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back, relaxed.

He listened to Donna sing and smiled, she was really just that good. You couldn't resist smiling or cheering, the music just had that certain tone to it that made it... alive. He cleared up some vocal scales (which he didn't need in his opinion) before she was all dome, stepping
up to the stage now. He cast a glance to Donna, nodding.

Donna had a fan base of admirers for her voice, and it was she who introduced Noah, "And now Ladies and Gentlemen, I wish to present Noah!" She gestured to him and Zack tampered with the track lighting he could plug into. Angling a few lights towards Noah, those blue eyes had hints of admiration in them.

His long gaze was broken by a pair of bubbly, tipsy neko's wanting to sing together. Both so scantily dressed you wondered if they should have even bothered with clothes. "Yea ladies... you can be after Noah..."

The line was already starting to form, Zack typed in Noah's next song and their 'duet' as well.

The music came on and the screen showed the music video, words appearing on the bottom of the large TV screen in the main area.

Noah took one last glance at Zack before the lights went on, angled towards him. He could feel a light blush of embarrassment brush onto his cheeks. Well, moreover being nervous, but that didn't matter. He thanked Donna quietly and took the mic, taking a short breath away from the mic.

"This town's colder now, I think it's sick of us.
It's time to make our move, I'm shakin' off the rust.
I've got my heart set on anywhere but here,
I'm staring down myself, counting up the years.

Steady hands just take the wheel, every glance is killing me.
Time to make one last appeal,
for the life I lead..."

He went on until the song was done, letting off a breath of relief. He smiled out to the club crowd, most of his usually shy attitude gone by now. He was too caught up in his own singing.

Zack watched his favorite singer do his thing. Donna nudged him and winked, thank goodness blush could be hidden under his fur. After his song was done, he wanted to tell him how good he was. But flouncy girls oogled at him over his equipment. Zack was nice, flashing his charming smile, but he seemed to have a 'force field' against their flirting and passes. They didn't phase him at all.

His voice rang out over the system announcing new singers and their songs. Dealing with the bad singers. Donna went up again, a few more singers came on before he called Noah to collect a mic and get ready for his next song.

Zack's heart fluttered lightly, waiting for Noah to come up...

Noah walked off the stage, passing off the mic happily, sighing with a grin to himself. He had done quite well once again. He shrugged it off and began warming up again for his next song, but kept getting distracted by thoughts of Zack... he smiled and found it a bit easier when he thought of Zack cheering for him.

All too quickly he was up again, grinning. He was ready to go again. He got in front of the crowd and made a quick wave before he started singing again, letting his heart go free on this one. And honestly, it was the best he'd sounded yet. Especially since the author was too lazy to get the lyrics.

He breathed out at the end, smiling to the crowd and waving as he stepped back. He had really outdone himself this time.

(Hey! Random plot builder! What if, this in-rp weekend, Noah had a summer camp to go to as a counselor with his lil' brother who goes to camp as a camper; and he asks Zack to come with to keep him company, and it would be perfect to start a relationship since Joah could have a lot of flashbacks of his dad here)

( Oohhh, a Brokeback-esque move! I like it! Nothing sexier than some outdoors bonding! Far from the city, the fresh air, the sun set and romantic setting! Perfect to build something between them!)

Zack had this admiring smile on his lips as he listened to Noah, he could listen to Noah sing all day and night, but that seemed like a fantasy in itself. He gave a thumbs up to Noah when he finished his second song. He had to keep his cool but still send Noah signals that he was interested. Still praying Noah had an interest in him.

Singers came and left, Donna preformed one more time before their duet came up. Zack hummed and did some scales to himself in preparation. "And now a treat for all our fans out there! A Noah and Zack duet! Yes everyone! Calm yourselves! I AM singing tonight, you're not dreaming!" He moved from behind the booth, Donna stepped in behind it. Handing Noah a mic, he stood beside him and flashed a bright grin. "Well switch verses and sing the chorus together?" His heart fluttered some, signing with Noah? This was a dream!

Noah watched as Zack announced their duet, blushing a bit to himself. He stretched his arms above his head and walked out there, at Zack's side. He had to be dreaming; doing this with Zack was just too good to be true. "I'll start." He nodded to the canine, ready for the duet. He smiled to the other, breathing in deeply out of the mic as the song started.

"I remembered black skies, the lightning all around me.
I remembered each flash, as time began to blur.
Like a startling sign fate had finally found me
And your voice was all I heard, that I get what I deserve."

Then came the chorus, which he was ready to sing with Zachary. A million things passed through his mind, but only the lyrics came out his mouth.

"So give me reason, to prove me wrong to wash this memory clean!
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes!
Give me one reason, to fill this hole, connect the space between!
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies across this new divide!"

Here it comes, the part with Noah. Zack's palms were actually sweating a little, but key for key, his octaves just a few hints deeper than Noah's; he matched the one-key Noah perfectly. Like they had practiced for countless hours till all hours of the night, in this one instant; Zack felt a rapture. My muse... was his trailing thought as he inhaled to sing the next versus:

There was nothing in sight but memories left abandoned
There was nowhere to hide, the ashes fell like snow
And the ground caved in between where we were standing
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve...

And now, to regain that simple moment of pure joy. Something he hadn't felt in such a long time, Donna really knew what she was talking about.

So give me reason to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason to fill this hole, connect the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies across this new divide

In every loss, in every lie, in every truth that you denied,
And each regret and each goodbye was a mistake too great to hide.
And your voice was all I heard that I get what I deserve.

Noah took his next verse with ease, eyes closed by now as he smiled and just swayed in time with the song, a foot tapping with the rhythm as he found himself happier than he had in a great deal of time. His father, medical work, everything was drowned out to the sounds of them singing.
Together.

So give me reason, to prove me wrong, to wash this memory clean!
Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes!
Give me reason, to fill this hole, connect the space between.
Let it be enough to reach the truth, that lies across new divide!
Across this new divide, across this new divide....

The song ended and Noah opened his eyes again and found his eyes wandering over to Zack, giving the male a shy smile. He brushed his hair from his face before turning to the crowd again.

Zack moved closer to Noah, all he could see was him. He moved into his personal space, his free hand found Noah's. He sang the last chorus with him, looking right at him. He wanted to lean in, he wanted to kiss him. He wanted Noah.

When the song ended, Zack raised their hands up and shouted, "YEA!" The crowd cheered and clapped for them. Zack bowed, his eyes glimmering, his spirit light. They faced the cheering crowd. I have my Muse. He thought, looking to Noah before he looked at Donna.

Donna just grinned at the pair.

Zack let Noah's hand go slowly, he had to get back to work. He wanted nothing more than to just slink out of the bar like other budding couples did. His light heart felt heavier as the inches grew between Noah's warm hand...

Noah blushed as their hands found each other, sharing Zack's desires for that moment. Yet it was gone all too soon, and it was gone; yet he let his hand linger a moment longer. He could feel his spirits sink a bit as he let go.

He walked up during the next song, when Zack was free. He tapped the guy's shoulder. "Hey, Zack... listen, I won't be around this weekend. I have a camp to counsel at, for my brother. But... I was wondering... if you wanted to come with?"

It was as close to a date as it would get without literally asking with the word. He smiled hopefully up at Zack, wishing the other would say yes so very much...

He couldn't get the feel of Noah's hand off his own. He did the other singers up in the queue, looking up when Noah came back up to this table. Giving him a bright smile, his heart lifted some.

"Camp Tutawom? Dude I used to go there as a kid! That would be awesome! I'd love to go! I'm free this weekend!" Ok, so he sounded really excited about spending a weekend with Noah. "I could go for some s'mores too..." His face just lit up like a kids's at Christmas.

And that was the truth, Zack had nothing going on this weekend because his one gig canceled on him earlier today. But a whole weekend with Noah? He'd cancel a party with the President for this sort of moment!

Noah grinned as he heard the exact reply he had wanted. "Alright then! I suppose you know where it is then, that's a good thing. So I'll see you there? Trust me when I say this; I'm hard to miss." He smiled and nodded then.

"I suppose I better get going then, it get ready and all... don't wanna be late! But..." he stepped forward and wrapped Zack up in a quick hug before turning and going, his blush fairly obvious. He whistled happily to himself as he left.

---

Like he said, Noah was pretty hard to miss that weekend. After dropping off his little brother, Thomas, with his friends; of course Noah made his way to his own friends; the same group he'd been with since he had first come here.

"Noah!" came a surprised call and a quick hug. Tasha, a pink Russian wolf, (don't ask why she's pink, she doesn't enjoy speaking of it), was first to the boy. "How has Noah been, neh? Well?" Noah nodded enthusiastically and gave her a kiss to the cheek. "Quite so." Now, the funny thing was; Tasha looked at least ten years older. Which she was.

Next came from behind Noah, and it was obvious to the human to who it was by the scales; Connor. He was a corn snake and the only reptile in the group; but he fit in. Noah turned and gave him a quick hug before breaking it off, speaking with everyone in the group; there was also a raccoon named James, a lion named Peter, and another human named Johnathan. It seemed Tasha was the only female in the group, as well as the oldest by far.

Zack was really excited actually, he hadn't been to that camp for about 10 years or so, before he graduated high school. He was about to say something when Noah hugged him. Zack felt weak in the knees when Noah let go and walked away. He had to be dreaming, the night went on in a haze. All he could think about was how Noah felt, the warmth of his human body, the scent of his skin... Zack was just in La La Land over that hug...

--------------

After eagerly packing and tossing his stuff into an open top Jeep, Zack was well on his way, pulling up at the camp. "Hasn't changed..." He said and smiled warmly at the great memories he had of this place. He loved his summers here, they were always fun and memorable. He wondered if his pie eating contest picture was still up on the wall in the chow hall. He won the regional championship hands down, even up against a bear. Getting out of the Jeep and pocketing his keys, he looked around and saw the pink wolf, that wasn't something you saw everyday. Then he saw Noah surrounded by friends, taking a deep breath he moved towards them, calling, "Hey Noah!" Smiling with that everlasting boy charm of his as he waved some.

Noah spotted him and found a warm smile spread across his face, as well as a slight blush. Connor elbowed him and he laughed. "Zack! Great to see you!" He grinned and shook the guy's hand, turning back to the group. "Guys! And, Tasha, this is Zachary. Zachary, group of friends."

Everyone said "Hey, Zack," in an out of tune unison and smiles were passed around, as well as introductions. Tasha winked at Zack, a grin spreading across her face. Connor turned and grabbed Noah's arm, turning him. "Cmon! They're calling for us." Noah laughed. "I'll never get used to your hearing abilities."

Everyone fairly split up, bar Tasha. She approached Zack, extending a hand for him to shake. "Hello Zack, I'm Tasha... as you've heard, though. How long have you known Noah?"

Zack was standing close to Noah, repeating the names of his friends with a friendly greeting and warm smile. He watched them all move off since Conner said they were being paged.

Those charming blue eyes looked to the pink wolf. "Hello again Tasha..." He took her hand, bowed at the waist and kissed the back of her knuckles softly. Giving that equally charming grin to her, "For a little while... we have some things in common like this camp for one and singing..." He didn't want to gush or be overly obvious about his man crush on Noah. Or that he really had only known him for about a week. Letting her hand go, he stood up straight again.

Tasha smiled as he performed the gratuitous action, looking up at him as he stood. "It's good, that you two have these things in common. He really seems to like you, you know," she said, grinning softly. "I'm glad. He's been..." her voice trailed off after a moment.

"Anyways. I sort of look over him, since his mother's gone. And his father, well, that's a different story altogether," she said, shrugging. "The boy doesn't like talking about it too much. He does to me, but, other than that, not at all, frankly to anyone." She stepped a bit closer and hugged Zack. "But welcome back to camp, hon. Noah should be somewhere at the dining hall by now. Catch you around, okay?" She gave a small wave to him as she walked off, smiling to herself.

Zack listened to her intently, he wanted to know more about Noah and who better to tell him than a close friend? But after hearing about Noah's mother being gone and his father sounding like he'd pose a problem, Zack felt it best to get to know Noah himself and hope that he'd feel comfortable enough with him to talk to him like he did Sasha.

When the pink wolf gave him a hug, Zack returned it warmly. He was a friendly person after all! "Thanks Sasha, it's just like I remembered!" That charming smile was aimed down at her, "The old mess hall, I remember one time I started a food fight there by accident..." Chuckling some, "See ya 'round..." Waving a little to her as well.

He turned on his toes and moved off to find Noah, he knew right where the dining hall was. It was all coming back to him. Even his first kiss... Sighing gently as he pushed the door open to step inside the place where you didn't ask what was in the food, but it tasted good enough to eat anyways! He wanted to find Noah, the whole reason for him coming here this weekend was to get closer to him...

"Cmon guys! More milk!"

Noah found himself laughing as he had guys and gals of all ages running back and forth to prepare lunch. He shook his head and managed a light chuckle as he watched people rush by with cartons of fat free and skim milk. He looked up and saw Zack and couldn't help but grin widely.

"Zachary! Perfect. Help out, eh?"

He grabbed the canine by the hand and tugged him along enthusiastically before pulling him into the kitchen, laughing. Noah put the other male in a serving line before placing himself in the dish-duty area. "Just serve as fast as you can! Things'll get messy quickly if you don't."

He sent over a warm smile, and a soft blush, before wiping off leftovers from trays of breakfast. Kids starting piling in; hungry. They lined up and started for food.

Zack smiled at him then was tugged off to feed the line of ravenous looking kids. He remembered this run! "I hope I can handle this!" Looking over at Noah with a cool grin, was that blush? His heart didn't stop beating fast after Noah grabbed his hand.

It was like a race, he stood behind the counter ready to go hard or go home. The rookie on the line, everyone else looked at him like he wouldn't make it. It was like an assembly line, plopping food onto plates and setting them out. He didn't want to know what was in this food as he slopped it onto the plates in a quick rhythm.

And of course whatever he was serving was getting onto his clothes, he didn't exactly have time to put on an apron. He had to give big credit to the people that did this all the time!

Noah washed trays and dishes at a leisurely pace throughout lunchtime. Well, leisurely for him; fast for others who hadn't previously done the job. He hummed softly as he worked, a smile stuck on his face. It was just something about this camp...

After lunch was over, he met Zack for lunch at an empty table inside the now-empty cafeteria. Staff were all whom were left inside. "Well, I suppose everyone is off to their afternoon activities. Good. Some free time," he said with a small smile.

Noah wiped some of a blue stain off of Zack's shirt before sniffing it. "...jeez, forgot the apron, didn't you? And blueberry? We didn't even serve anything with blueberries this meal!" He chuckled softly and shook his head.

(Hehe. Got a great idea for their little... well, crush-confession to each other :33 wanna hear or make it a surprise?)

( make it a surprise! <3 ^.^ )

Zack was rather messy and a little worn. The 'rookie' was congratulated on surviving and handed an apron, being told to wear it after the fact.

He was contently eating some of the remaining food they had in the food line. He smiled brightly as Noah came to sit with him. "Yea I remember woofing down my food and running off to enjoy the day even more... good old days..." He said with a reflective tone.

Zack blushed under his fur at Noah's touch, his heart fluttered some. "Yea... no idea where the blueberry came from... I got an apron..." Pointing to the clean apron neatly folded beside him. "Just not in time I guess..." Chuckling lightly, "Though I think I really should shower or change my clothes and go swimming or something... you could get a meal off my fur and clothes!" Gesturing to his messy state with a boyish grin on his lips.

Noah chuckled softly and nodded, fingers tracing the edge of his table. His smile twanged a bit as he discussed past camp experiences. "Yeah, yeah! ....fun stuff." He made a half-hearted smile as his eyes took a reminiscent look for a moment over his food before focusing back on Zack.

He nodded as Zack mentioned a shower. "Yeah, don't want kids coming onto you for snacks, do you?" His good mood returned as he took his empty tray and stood. "I'll see you around, okay Zack? Have a few things I need to do."

(sorry for short-fail~ multi-tasking. and mmk ^_^)
