Useless Trivia!

According to a major hotel chain, approximately the same numbers of men and women are locked out of their rooms — 32 percent are less than fully dressed.

The oldest known computer in the world was built in 100 BC – nearly 2200 years ago. It was recovered in 1900–01 from the Antikythera wreck, a shipwreck off the Greek island of Antikythera. It has since been dubbed “The Antikythera Mechanism”

Although severely corroded, scientists determined the mechanism was housed in a wooden box about 12 × 7 × 3.5 inches, and comprised 30 bronze gears (although more could have been lost). It was found in 82 fragments, and seven gears contained inscriptions.

It was a mechanism designed to predict astronomical positions and eclipses.

Technological artifacts approaching its complexity and workmanship did not appear again until the 14th century, when mechanical astronomical clocks began to be built in Western Europe.

Since their discovery the fragments of the Antikythera mechanism are kept at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.

Great Britain was the first county to issue postage stamps, so theirs are the only stamps in the world not to bear the name of the country of origin. (And the glue on Israeli postage stamps is certified kosher).

The artificial banana flavoring that everyone loves to complain doesn't taste like bananas is actually based on a breed of the fruit that went instinct due to everyone being so picky about them all tasting the same that they inbred them and then the whole breed was wiped out by a fungus. But rather than learning anything from that mistake they've done the exact same thing with today's bananas and a new strain of the same fungus that wiped out the old bananas has popped up in the new ones, so that if we don't diversify the crops soon we may loose the bananas we're currently familiar with.

Pennsylvania was the first colony to legalize witchcraft.

Theodore Roosevelt was the first American President to win the Nobel Peace Prize. He won for his arbitration of treaty discussions at the end of the Russo-Japanese War.

The U.S. Constitution stipulates that, to be eligible for the Presidency, a candidate must be a natural-born citizen, must have lived in the United States for a minimum of 14 years and must be at least 35 years old. There are no other legal qualifications or restrictions for the post, so there is nothing in the law to prevent a lunatic, a bankrupt or a convicted criminal from becoming President.

Bet most people know this but I didn't know it before

In world war 2 there was two contracts for the tiger the Herschel and Porsche tiger. Porsch tiger was better in almost every way accept the engine. The engine was electric and in theory was more effective but the technology at the time wasn't really that good. The Herschel tiger had the same gun and theoretically weaker armor but it didn't break down as much as the Porsche tiger. Later on Porsche decided to make himself useful and used the Porsche tiger hulls to make a new tank named the Ferdinand. Basically the hull with a rear mounted casement and a big gun. Aka code name elephant and was able to see service in the war for a while.

If there's no tag on the pants when you're shopping 2nd hand, put the waist of the pants around your neck. If it fits your neck- it fits your waist. It sounded weird but when I tried it, the pants were a perfect fit! ;)
