Serai noticed the reddening of Melanie's cheeks and she found it absolutely adorable, her first instinct to smile or giggle at the shy girl. She didn't though and had just continued with the food, hoping that if she said nothing the nervousness would go away on Melanie's part. She was thinking that something was different though, Melanie was more nervous than ever, "Don't worry Melanie, I awoke because it was time to get up, don't apologize." she said happy that she could say something to help comfort the beautiful girl.
Then right as she was finishing up her meal of fruits and cider a question was asked that infuriated her. What the hell did this girl mean, when am I to die, was Serai some sort of murdering barbarian to her people, it was infuriating. She turned her head, her eyes sharp and voice venomous an old wound just opened. "Well I suppose you get to leave whenever you tire of being around a monster like myself like all the others. Oh and if your looking for me, the big monster of a dragon to kill you, don't hold your breath, I have never killed a sacrifice, none of you are worth my time..." she said her words meant to be harsh in the last sentence as she stood up and stormed out hitting her cup across the room before she did.
Serai needed a breather, she had always been sensitive about every single one of the sacrifices eventually running off on her, she didn't like being called names like monster either which now she knew why. Yet what she really disliked was that the women inside, the one who had made her smile and seemed different from all the other, that she had just asked when she was to be killed, like that was all she expected from the start of this and if so that was why she was being kind, getting good treatment for her supposedly last days.
Serai had a nice still spot near the mouth of the cave she liked to sit at when she needed to think, it allowed you to look out over the entire expanse of the land around it if you wanted. Of course she didn't, she looked at her feet a glum look and also she felt sadness and all the times she had felt the good feeling, the place that usually warmed up was stinging, a heavy burdening pain. She had no clue what it was but it wasn't pleasant and she couldn't help but be affected by it and without noticing a tear slipped out of her eye and down her cheek.
