A Darker Shade of Night: Dragondancer+BlisteredBlood

Heishiro looked like he hadn’t moved from his spot on the pallet since she last saw him nine plus hours ago. Her senses took in his elevated temperature and slightly pasty skin, and wondered if he was getting sick. She was pleased to see that he had eaten the orange slices and drank the water from the previous night. Good, at least he has a will to live, despite all his negativity, she mused.

“Rosalie has apparently forgiven your churlishness,” she walked over and bent down to place the food and water next to him, “and has made something for you to eat.” She stood over him, arms crossed across her chest, looking down at him. “After you eat, you may want to make use of the shower,” she gestured with her chin in the direction of the bathroom. “It’s not completely convenient with your...attachment, but it may refresh you.”

Laela walked back over to the door and opened it, turning back toward Heishiro. “We’re going to get something to....eat....ourselves, but at least one of us will remain behind at all times. You’ll be safe, and will have a couple of hours of privacy to eat and clean up, should you wish it.” With that, she stepped back through the doorway to the hall and closed the door, leaving Heishiro alone again.

A few hours of privacy to eat and get cleaned up, Heishiro pondered as he then watched her leave. Who knows, he wondered. Maybe this would be his last meal before he was finally put out of his misery instead of being kept alive for whatever reason they were keeping him here for. Might as well make the best of it, I suppose. He thought as he then began to eat the sandwich quietly, spending about several minutes with it before he finally finished it then the chips some time later before reaching over to that cup of water and drank it down steadily. After he finished it, Heishiro once again gave out another coughing fit into his hand for a moment or so before he flopped down onto his back.

"Eat... Right." Heishiro muttered to himself as he laid there before looking over to the open bathroom with a sigh as he got up from the pallet and walked over to it with a morbid look on his face, hearing the chain rattle out with each step he gave, finally entering it a while later then began to disrobe himself once he was eventually inside the room and made use of the shower there. It wasn't much, but at the very least, it had hot water for him to use.

At least a good 20 minutes went by before Heishiro eventually stepped out of the shower and redressed himself in the same clothes then came back out into the main room once more before he settled himself back down on the pallet with a sigh. Oddly enough though, his slight fever didn't seem to go away. On a second thought, it felt as though it seemed to have only worsened slightly. "Christ..." He muttered to himself as he settled onto his side with his eyes closed, trying to find a comfortable spot to at least try and rest on.

Her pulse quickening in anticipation of the moment of her attack, Laela stealthily stalked the young man as he walked through the darkened parking lot to his car. The lot was poorly lit and empty, except for the one car. A grocery bag in his arms, the man whistled cheerfully as he pulled his keys out of his pocket, opening the car door. Laela deliberately let her boot heel grind into the asphalt, making a small sound to alert the man to her presence. Startled, he quickly turned around to face her. When he saw who had been behind him, he immediately relaxed, giving Laela an appreciative smile as he took in her appearance. Maybe his quick grocery run would end up being the highlight of his day...hell, his year by the looks of the beautiful woman in front of him.

“How about we go for a drive?” she asked, her voice sultry and warm. She looked deeply into his eyes, allowing an alluring smile to lift her lips slightly. His mouth dropped open, until he realized his silly expression and closed it quickly. He laughed self consciously, “Uh, this kind of thing doesn’t happen to me too often, sorry.” Her smile broadened...he was just the type she enjoyed most - maybe feeding a little would ease the restlessness she’d been feeling recently. “Don’t worry, Hun, nothing to apologize for.” She stepped forward, moving to stand right in front of him, mere inches away. She reached out her hand, and placed her palm on his bare skin that was showing in the “v” of his shirt. She stroked her fingers softly against his skin a few times, then walked around to the passenger side door, looking over the top of the car at him with her eyebrow raised.

The man quickly tossed his groceries in the back seat, and jumped into the car, closing the door after him and pressing the unlock button to allow Laela to enter the car. She slid into the seat with a feline grace, and pulled the door closed after her. Turning to face the young man, she slung her right leg across him and moved onto his lap. Leaning down, she pulled the seat adjustment handle, releasing the back of the seat into a more reclining position. The man was grinning from ear to ear, and she felt his growing arousal against her as she sat on his lap. She leaned forward slightly into his chest, threading her fingers into his hair, and firmly stroking his head, letting the strands of his hair pull through her fingers with each stroke. His hands eagerly stroked her hips as she leaned all the way forward, her breasts pressing firmly into his chest, her mouth breathing softly at his neck.

She heard his soft groan as she began kissing the side of his neck, reaching out her tongue for a long, slow lick, her saliva provided an anesthetic to alleviate the sting of her teeth penetrating his flesh. She pulled back briefly, staring deeply into his eyes, and his body relaxed and his eyes grew unfocused as she put him into a very subtle trance. He would feel her drink of him, but he would only experience the pleasure, and none of the fear or any pain. She placed her lips at his neck again, and bit down hard, penetrating into his vein.

His body arched up in ecstasy, feeling the electric energy that she shared with him run throughout his body, and his hands tightened on her hips. She drank deeply, the pleasure of his lifeforce pulsing into her body causing her to close her eyes in gratification. Even in the middle of her enjoyment, in the back of her mind she was comparing this with her experience with Heishiro, and how much more intense it had been, an unanswered question for her to ponder later.

She finished drinking, and softly ran her tongue over the puncture wounds, an added bit of her saliva to speed his healing. He mumbled sleepily, a smile still on his lips, eyes closed in a rapturous expression. He might have a slight headache when he awoke, similar to when a person gets a little dehydrated. But otherwise, he would remember nothing, just the vague impression of a pleasurable experience remembered by his body but not his mind. Laela pressed the door lock of the car before she shut the door, and strolled away from the parking lot, heading leisurely back to Linden Street.

When she got back to their safehouse, Beniamin and Rosalie were curled up on either end of the sofa, talking. Ander hadn’t arrived back yet...but it had only been a few hours, and sometimes he stayed out all night, so she wasn’t concerned. She waved at the two deep in conversation, and walked straight to the back room to check on Heishiro. She hoped he had taken her suggestion and bathed, her sense of smell was highly developed and a dirty body was unpleasant to her. She opened the door to the room and walked inside, not bothering to shut it behind her.

During the time Heishiro laid there on the pallet, his fever eventually broke some time later, but goddammit, that was a bit rough on him. He wasn't sure what exactly it was from, but at least he didn't have to deal with it anymore as he laid there on his side, sleeping relatively peacefully for the rest of the time he was there. However long it would be, anyway. Besides, he still had the initial thought that as soon as they got what they needed out of him, that his services were to be no longer needed and out he would go into the nearest lake and swept out to the nearest lake. After all, it wasn't like he had anyone to get in contact with to call for help or even anybody that would even miss him. For all he knew, he was literally a human ghost to the rest of the world and no one even knew he was there. Nobody except these people.

Once again, though, Heishiro's sleep was disrupted when he heard the sound of a door opening then closing, opening his eyes slowly before looking over his shoulder as he saw the woman from before. For the most part, he remained silent as he then sat up slowly and looked at her with a mostly negative but contemplative look on his face as he saw her approach before looking back down to the floor as he rested one hand up onto his knee then closed his eyes in thought before he turned them back up to her with the same quiet scorn that was in his eyes. He could ask her so many questions at this time, but then again, Heishiro didn't really have anything to say at the moment. Much rather, he was silently waiting for the words that would tell him that he was well on his way to meeting the Grim Reaper soon.

Laela stood just inside the doorway and watched Heishiro alternate between glaring at her and ignoring her, and shook her head in almost-amusement. She found she was in a much better frame of mind to deal with Heishiro’s relentless contempt after having satisfied her hunger. She walked slowly toward where he sat, asking him in an even tone of voice, “Are you still hungry or thirsty? It looks like eating and drinking did you good.”

"I'm fine, really." Heishiro answered in an even tone of voice as he looked up to her once more as he sat there. "I'm just wondering how long is it gonna be before you do away with me now that I satisfied your curiosity for whatever it is you needed to know. Besides, I've seen this sort of shit before in the death row areas in prisons where you come up to the prisoner and inform them that their time's up." He said with the same contemplative look on his face before looking back down to the pallet once more.

"But then again, maybe you got something else in mind for me. Whatever it is, just make it quick. I know you ain't got all day." Heishiro concluded as his eyes narrowed a bit.

Laela listened to Heishiro speak without saying anything herself, not for the first time wondering what all this man had seen and done in his life to bring him to this existence. She guessed keeping him chained up in such a sparse room, with next to no information, could lead one to ponder the more negative possibilities. His snarled “make it quick” demand however, quickly ruined her good intentions to behave nicely. She narrowed her eyes in a mirror of his expression, and started walking toward him.

Just then, what sounded like a loud explosion rocked them both, the sounds of splintering wood and flying projectiles making contact with hard surfaces, the acrid smell of gunpowder drifting into the room. The floor shuddered beneath them and a girl’s high-pitched scream of fear was heard in the aftermath. Laela spun around and in a split second she was tearing out the doorway toward the violent rampage.

At that point, Heishiro was more than ready for whatever it was that coming his way. As a matter of fact, he was willing to accept whatever it was that was meant for him, even the the possibility of death. Sure, it might have grated her last nerve, but that was what he intended on. Besides, with him being chained up and having no way to escape or even call for assistance meant that he was here for some reason. Perhaps as a means of her entertainment, he figured.

As he heard her walk over to him, Heishiro was just about to look back up to her when from out of nowhere an explosion of some kind suddenly snapped him out of his self-deprecating mood and was soon replaced by an expression that was now asking the same thing that many more like him would ask. "The fuck...?!" He said aloud before glancing around with a wild eyed look. What also got his attention after that was the sound of a woman's scream from somewhere within the area, and with that, Heishiro was just about to get up quickly when he still realized he was still chained up and he was left there by himself when he saw her tear out of the room, leaving him there to still look around once more wondering what it was that had caused the explosions.

As Laela rounded the corner at top speed, she couldn’t quite make sense of what she was seeing at first. Their front door had been blown off its hinges, and now a ragged gaping hole yawned open to the night beyond. Furniture was toppled, and one of the drapes was smoldering, Beniamin slapping at the few remaining flames with one of the sofa pillows. Rosalie was huddled against the far wall, on the opposite end of the room from the destroyed door. “What the f--” Laela began, but cut her question short as a pair of grabbing hands suddenly gripped against the splintered door frame, pulling the body they were attached to inside the doorway. Behind the figure, she spotted at least a dozen other dark shapes slowly approaching the entry.

“Holy shit - ghouls!” She yelled her warning to her companions. Running toward the side closet where they kept their “grab & go” backpacks - an “in case of emergency” staple at each of their safehouses - she opened the closet door and tossed two packs each to Beniamin and Rosalie. She grabbed the remaining two packs, hoping like hell that Ander was safe.

How the fuck had they found them? she thought to herself as the three of them headed toward the back way out. Ghouls don’t have conscious control of their bodies...they have to be controlled by someone who - Vardon! She came to an abrupt halt, her enemy’s name leading her mind to the next logical thought...Heishiro. “You two - I’ll meet you at the 2nd Street house.” At Beniamin’s scowl, she hardened her tone, and pointed to the back door as she spoke, “Get the hell out of here before they start to frenzy! I’m grabbing Heishiro and I’ll meet you there. Call Ander on your way, let him know what the hell happened.” Jogging to the back of the house, looking over her shoulder at the approaching horde, she rushed through the doorway toward Heishiro, grabbing the key from around her neck.

Heishiro listened to the racket that was going on out of his current holding room, his eyes darting from left to right as he began to slowly stand up onto his bare feet, staggering most from the sudden rush of blood that went straight into his brain. Alright, so he wasn't fully recovered yet, but he figured that would soon settle down at some point or another.

Soon enough though, he spotted the woman coming back into the room at all due speed, taking the key off of her neck as she approached. But instead of asking questions at the present moment, he was actually anticipating this, knowing that whatever was the cause of that explosion meant they had to vacate this place. However, if what the one girl told him was also correct, then he had to get his things from wherever it was that Rosalie hid them, unless if she got it all already.

Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up! Heishiro began to think as he stood there, looking back to the door as he began to notice a dark shape - shapes, actually - beginning to form near it.

As Laela quickly bent down to free Heishiro from his shackle, she automatically registered his situation - he was barefoot, no jacket, weaponless, and probably not at full health to boot. Just great. As she stood up in front of him, she looked directly into his eyes, her expression conveying her thoughts without words, don’t you fuck me over! Out loud, she brusquely clipped, “We’re under attack, a pack of ghouls who have no doubt been programmed to kill us - there’s too many to fight head-on, you’ve got to come with me!” She grabbed him firmly by his upper arm as he stepped out of the shackle, pulling him along and providing him support in case he needed it, as she turned toward the door to leave.

“Ah, shit!” The doorway was blocked by a gangly male ghoul, the lifeless whites of his eyes gleaming....well, ghoulishly....in the dim light. Not far behind, the rest of his posse were were pushing forward eagerly. She didn’t need to look around to see if there was an alternate way out - she knew there wasn’t. One thing about a really well built prison - under the right circumstances, it could make a really well built tomb.

Knowing that the place would be ransacked, and everything stolen or destroyed, she felt strongly about retrieving Heishiro’s sword and armor that she had taken from him, but she felt even more strongly about them staying alive. Can we do this? She turned to face him, asking urgently and speaking quickly, “Are you up for this? You need to tell me true! Your things are in a trunk in the next room on the left. But the back exit is to the right, at the end of the hall, and then another right. The ghouls are coming at us from the left. So, we make a run for the exit, we’ve got a great shot at escaping cleanly.” She paused, baring her fangs at the ghoul as he jerked into the room, unconsciously squeezing Heishiro’s arm painfully tightly, “Or, we go through the ghouls, retrieve your things, and make our escape through the back window of the room - not so cleanly.” She raised her other hand into a threatening claw toward the ghoul, and yelled at Heishiro, “What’s it to be?”

Heishiro began to assess the current situation in his mind once he felt his left ankle become freed from the shackle. Sure, his things were in the next room exactly as how she told him, but the chances of the both of them getting out of this place was almost uncertain, possibly even unlikely for the both of them. But then again, the idea of making a clean getaway for the both of them would prove beneficial, provided if she didn't try to fuck him over either. He had been through far too much of that in his life and if she did betray him at this point in time, then she was to be met with a slow and painful death by his hands. He had to make a decision quickly, though! Those ghouls were starting to make their advance towards them and they didn't look as though they could be stopped once they went absolutely batshit on them!

"How about this?!" Heishiro answered as he felt her grab at his arm tightly. "You make the clean getaway while I go and get my things out of the trunk?! It'll be a clean getaway for you, plus you won't have to worry about me! Besides, I could deal with those things in my sleep!" He proclaimed, knowing it was probably the best option at the moment, at least in his mind as a welcoming surge of adrenaline was now coursing through his veins now. "I'll meet up with you once I got everything I need at the back exit!" He added, looking at her dead in the eyes.

Not having the luxury of time to mince words, Laela spat out, “Idiot! Obviously you’ve never dealt with ghouls in your life, or you wouldn’t be so cock-sure of yourself!” She tensed her muscles and stiffened her hands, preparing to make her move, “We’ve had this safehouse for years...years! You think it’s a coincidence we’re attacked the day after you’re here? You’ve obviously got a fucking tracking signature implanted by Vardon with a compulsion - you’re a dead man without me!”

Whirling angrily on the front ghoul who was almost upon them, she twirled around quickly on one leg in a spin kick move and kicked out hard with her other leg at the last second. The power of her spin and kick forced the ghoul off balance, his arms windmilling as he staggered backward and hit the hallway wall with a thud. Reaching behind her, she grabbed the front of Heishiro’s shirt, yanking him behind her as she ran like hell for the room on the left.

As much as he wanted to yell at her for not having a lot of faith placed in him, her words of him being a marked man because of Vardon placing a compulsion on him seemed to have rung true with him. So long as he was alive and under his compulsion, that meant he would be followed wherever he went. So apparently, his idea wasn't exactly too far-fetched. "Well excuse the fuck out of me not knowing, you bloodsucking leech!" Heishiro shot back angrily as he was then yanked behind her as he followed her out of the room as quick as he could manage.

Once out and into the hallway, Heishiro looked to the left where he could see the throng of ghouls coming at them. Growling at this, Heishiro pushed her hand off of his shirt before he took the lead this time, hurrying over to the next door over and quickly grabbed at the knob when a ghoul came up to his right shoulder and made a grab at him. Right before he was grabbed however, Heishiro fired out a vicious elbow straight into its face, knocking it back and onto the ground with another thud before he quickly made another grab for the knob again, twisting it from side to side and then shoved his shoulder into it to push it open.

Laela rolled her eyes at Heishiro’s brief outburst, apparently no situation too dire for him to miss an opportunity to hate on her. Stepping quickly but cautiously around the fallen ghoul, she prepared to meet the approaching throng head-on, looking for their weakest link. Heishiro suddenly pushed her protective hold off his shirt, moving deftly past her to open the door. Before he could turn the knob fully, one of the ghouls spotted his movements and grabbed for his shoulder with gray twisted hands. Laela’s heart skipped a beat as she prepared to defend him, but with a vicious elbow jab, Heishiro knocked the ghoul into the ground and turning the doorknob, shoved his way into the room. Nice.

Following right at his back, Laela slammed the door hard as the ghouls agitation increased as they saw their prey was disappearing from their view. The arm and shoulder of the nearest ghoul shoved into the room viciously clawing at the air, before Laela could get the door completely closed, an unholy shriek tearing from the ghoul's throat as she repeatedly slammed the door with all her force onto his arm, finally severing his limb thrust by thrust with the violence of her attack. The bloated, gray appendage dropped grotesquely to the the floor, and she kicked it away from her in disgust. Loud groans and kicking and banging were heard through the door, as Laela braced herself against it, the latch having been broken off during her repeated slamming. “Some time this year, Maybe?” she grit out between clenched teeth.

Once in the room, Heishiro was quick to spot the trunk that was mentioned to him, smiling a bit in earnest this time as he moved over to it and popped it open, revealing his things were all in it, his armor, his weapons of choice and virtually everything they had taken off of him at the moment. Good, good. It's all here. Now I just gotta get all of this on. Thank god I invested in straps on this thing, otherwise it'd be a total pain to get on. He thought as he began to hurriedly put his gear back on over the exposed areas of his body, starting with the armor first.

But before he had enough of a time to get it on, he heard the vampiress yell at him to hurry it up. He would only roll his eyes at her in return before he reached into the trunk and began to put the thing on, somehow thanking himself that he made sure to outfit the thing with quick attaching straps should the need arise. Once it was on, he then reached in for the boots next, stepping into each one as quickly and as accurately as possible then secured the straps on those. The cloak would be pulled over his shoulders next, followed by the black bag that he reattached to his hip and then the holstered broadsword which he wound up slinging over his shoulder. After that was said and done after pulling on the thickly padded gloves, Heishiro glanced back to her as he then reached over his shoulder and grasped at the handle of the blade before ripping it straight out of the scabbard and held it there in one hand before looking over his shoulder towards the only way out of the room, the same one that the ghouls were trying feverishly to bust their way into.

The weapon itself was truly a remarkable display of his craftsmanship, for the weapon itself appeared to resemble a zweihander that looked as though it could be wielded with two hands under a normal circumstance, but thanks to the training he had spent so long on, Heishiro was actually able to manipulate it precisely with just one hand. Most times, he often went with his left hand to keep the opponent guessing, but when it was in his right or both hands, that was considered that for anyone who stood in his way. The runes that were etched in on the blade itself was purely in Latin that when translated, meant the words, "May your light shine into the darkness and pierce the hearts of the wicked". Once he held it there for a moment, the runes itself seemed to shimmer a sky-blue color for a moment before Heishiro gave a small smirk to himself in satisfaction before replacing it back into the sheath then turned his attention towards the door the female vampire was bracing herself up against.

"Right. I got what I needed." Heishiro spoke. "Let's get out of here and go meet your buddies."

Watching Heishiro put on his multi-layered outfit and weaponry ever-so-slowly, piece by aggravating piece - while she strained against the furiously attacking ghouls at her back behind the door, had Laela cursing him under her breath.

She looked up as he withdrew his sword from its scabbard now strapped across his back. She had admired the artisan craftmanship of the sword when she had looked it over after taking it from Heishiro. She wondered where he had purchased such a finely made sword. She blinked her eyes as the sword seemed to glimmer a light blue color for a brief moment’s time. She frowned, even more curious about his sword now, planning to ask him about it later....if he should so deign to bestow an answer upon her, that is!

Heishiro had barely gotten “Let’s get out of here...” out of his mouth, when Laela ran in a blur of her top speed across the room, swiping a lamp off of the end table, and picking up the small but hefty table by its legs, she swung it like a baseball bat at the window, shattering it in an outward explosion of glass. Ripping off one of the legs, she used it to scrape off any remaining pieces of glass and jumped up onto the window sill. Looking back over her shoulder, she saw the ghouls cramming through the doorway, glazed dead-white eyes fixed on the nearest prey. “Heishiro!” she hissed urgently. “Time to go!” she turned her back on the room and leapt to the ground outside. Jogging a few paces toward the treeline, she turned around and paused, looking expectantly at the window hole.

Right at the word go, despite he was a little bit aggravated that she had taken off ahead of him, Heishiro was soon after her at all due speed and a look on his face that while still had determination was also interlaced with annoyance as he began to race over to the window and even jumped out of it before sprinting after her. He wouldn't be alone for long though, as the same throng of ghouls began to spill out after them. Some of them were moving a little more quickly than the others and at this point, Heishiro reached back for the blade once more and yanked it straight out into his right hand then altered his stance so that the blade was wound up high over his shoulder.

"Better get back! The backdraft from this goes out pretty wide!" Heishiro warned as an aura of bright blue flames began to leap from the blade, engulfing the entire blade entirely and without a second warning given, Heishiro lunged forward and swung the broadsword in a wide arc, unleashing with it an inferno that erupted out in the same way towards the ghouls. True to his word, when the backdraft hit, it was about as intense as behind a 747 Airbus! He had honestly hoped that the vampire was ready for it, since he had given her that one and only one warning.

Laela was relieved to see Heishiro appear at the window and jump safely away from the room full of howling ghouls. It was in her nature was to protect those in her charge, so it was a leap of faith to give Heishiro the benefit of the doubt that he could hold his own in this situation. She had experienced his skill, cool-headedness and clever tactics first hand, so had hoped.....but it was gratifying to have her faith in his ability proven well placed. It really would have been unfortunate to have been wrong and have to witness the man being pulled apart by the mindlessly brutal savages.

She brought her thoughts back to the battle at hand as several of the ghouls began to climb out of the window after him, clawing at the window sill and each other as they fought to get out and reach them. She started to turn to run into the woods as she saw Heishiro sprinting toward her to join her, but instead of running together to safety, she watched in frustration as he drew his sword and turned to the oncoming throng, sword arm raised high. Maybe he didn’t think they could run fast enough...maybe he was spoiling for a fight after being locked up and felt he could take on these repulsive creatures. Either way, the choice had been made - for the both of them now. Shit.

“Better get back!” she heard him shout, and her eyes widened as she saw the sword in his hand immediately begin to glow with a cerulean fire, a flaming sword of justice with Heishiro gracefully and forcefully wielding its cruel beauty to its purpose of meting out merciless death. Remembering her prior experience with his arsenal of weapons she acted instantly on his words, her instincts honed to a razor’s edge. Laela took a desperate running leap away from Heishiro and the flaming sword, diving behind a nearby fallen tree and pressing her body as low and protected as was possible.

She heard a tremendous whooshing sound as the inferno erupting from the sword laid waste to the throng of ghouls. The area around her lit up brilliantly from the flaming holocaust of fire and light being unleashed toward their attackers. She whimpered softly as the light created a painful sensation on her body, but due to the direction of the sword’s flames being released away from her, and her protected position, her injuries were only minor. But then the backdraft energy rushed at her, and the force was great enough to cause the tree she was sheltering behind to start to roll over on her. Yelping, she quickly leaped up and away from her short-lived haven, looking over at Heishiro with consternation. “What the hell kind of runes did you use??

Once the attack was completed, Heishiro had seen that the flames from the blade had indeed decimated the throng of ghouls entirely, but also left quite a trail of destruction behind in its wake, something that been well known of him in recent history. But still, at least those things wouldn't be bothering them now. At that point, Heishiro would then reholster the blade back in its scabbard behind his back and over his right shoulder before turning around and headed over to the vampire who had now backed away from a tree that was rolled over from the tremendous amount of energy that was exerted from not only the raging inferno the broadsword made, but also from the backdraft that followed.

When he was asked as what kind of runes were etched onto the blade, Heishiro simply glanced over to her and arched a brow at her. "I'd tell you, but you're not a Knight." He answered her directly. "So unfortunately, I can't tell you that." He added before he gestured with his head. "Come on. We need to get over to wherever your friends are." He directed, waiting for her to lead the way.

“From what you’ve said, you’ve severed all ties with your Knights, so I guess you can’t tell them, either. Apparently the bar you set for having any kind of association allows for none to qualify. Or is it you that doesn’t qualify as worthy for association?” she snapped back at him, not sure why his refusal had frustrated her so much.

Cautiously circling back around to the front of the house, sidling against the outside wall of the house and peering around the corner to the front drive, Laela motioned to Heishiro that all looked clear and proceeded to the garage, punching in an access code into the security keypad.

The garage doors rolled up, and a second Porsche was revealed, this one midnight blue. She got in the car and reached under the seat for the keys, and started the ignition. Looking over at Heishiro as he seemed to hesitate before getting in to the passenger side, she raised her eyebrows at him, floored the gas and hit the garage door remote as she peeled out.

Driving in silence for a short while, Laela thought the moment felt quite surreal. What the hell am I to do with him now? she wondered. Well, first things first, I suppose. She made a tight u-turn on the street, and parked snugly against the curb in front of a well-worn diner. “Hungry?” she asked, looking over at Heishiro.

When she snapped at him, Heishiro didn't even bother with replying to her, feeling as though he had said enough of the matter. Even if he did tell her about everything he had been through with his former association, the vampire would probably have just given him a "cool story bro" sort of reply then roll her eyes at him, so he avoided saying anything more of the subject. With that, Heishiro just followed her around the back of the house and stood beside the garage door as she began to finagle with the security pad there, opened it then went inside to then get inside a Porsche.

Hm. A 911 Turbo, if I'm not mistaken. Hard to believe these are still around. He thought as he looked over the vehicle for a moment before walking over to it but stopped a moment in hesitation. Granted, he still had his inhibitions about going anywhere with her, but at the very least, they ha da mode of transportation to get to wherever they needed to be. On top of all that, would he still be treated as a prisoner upon arrival?

After some time, Heishiro would then get into the Porsche with her, sitting in the passenger seat after removing the broadsword and then placing it into the back seat. Easily, the thing took up both seats with its size and mass, but at least he didn't have to bother with it being in his way. He didn't seem to like her aggressive style of driving, but at this point, Heishiro didn't even seem to care about that now. At one point, the two would then come across a worn out diner that was now across from them.

"Yeah, why not?" Heishiro answered with a shrug of his shoulders before turning his eyes over to her. "How about yourself? You want anything while we're here?"

Laela’s eyes glowed momentarily at Heisiro’s innocent question, “You want anything while we’re here?”, knowing that he definitely wasn’t offering what it was she would want. But she took it as a good sign that he was being considerate, and didn’t add “blood sucking leech” to the end of his sentence. Instead of answering him, she simply smiled and walked into the diner.

Inside, the somewhat dingy diner was mostly empty, only one booth occupied by an old man nursing a coffee and reading a newspaper, the rest of the patrons sitting on barstools at the counter. Laela walked directly to the back booth and took the side facing the door. After allowing time for them to peruse the limited menu, the young waitress headed over to their table, smiling at the two of them. “What can I get you?” she asked as she took out a small notepad, her pen hovering above it. “I’d like a glass of water and a slice of peach pie, please,” Laela ordered. The waitress turned to Heishiro, “And what can I get for you, Hun?”

When he saw that she simply smiled and then got out of the Porsche, Heishiro would then get out next before heading into the diner with her, his gloved hands coming up to rest onto the back of his head then glanced off to the side for a moment before they came into the place, finding it mostly empty save for the one old man sipping at his coffee and reading a newspaper. Soon enough though, he saw that the female vampire had now walked over to one of the booths in the back facing the door there then followed her over to it and sat in the seat across from her, easing into it with a sigh.

Soon enough, he saw that a young waitress came around and then passed out two menus for the both of them. He lifted the one that he had up and then looked it over, seeing that there really wasn't all that much here. But then again , this place didn't seem as though it had very many customers here. A shrug was given at first before he then put the menu down and looked up to the waitress. "Same thing. Water and a peach pie." He replied simply.

Laela frowned across at Heishiro. “You....need to replenish your strength, it’s important you eat enough to allow your body to restore itself.” Looking up at the waitress she added, “Also bring him your burger, pork chops, chicken pot pie, salmon, salad.....and grilled cheese sandwich.” The waitress ping-ponged her head between Laela and heishiro, not sure if she was serious. Laela raised her eyebrows at her, “We’ll be waiting right here when you get back.”

Looking across at Heishiro’s expression, she shrugged her shoulders. “You can pick whatever is most edible for you.” She adjusted her position in her seat, leaning back and relaxing a little. “Listen. You and I...we need to come to an understanding. Whether by sheer bad luck or some other reason, you have come into the sights of Vardon. He is not an enemy to underestimate. And as they say, ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’. We may not agree to a friendship, but a truce between us will benefit us both.”
