Reina actually groaned as she saw Cyrus come into view in a full uniform looking every part the fool. He looked like he was off on a quest to fight some sort of mythical dragon but had no idea what on earth he was doing. The man had never really been much of a fighter and even without the use of weapons she knew all too well that Lox would be able to knock him over as if he was nothing more then a doll made of straw. As much as she really would have liked to see Cyrus crying or falling to the ground that would lead to more trouble then it was worth and Lox might be in trouble of Lord Sydin decided to get involved. She knew Lox's temper all too well though and with the way his tail was swinging it seemed as if he was ready to pounce on the blond noble any moment now. "Enough!" Reina said with a huff as she placed a hand on Lox's arm in order to calm him down all the while glaring at Cyrus. "My business with Lox is no concern of yours and I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself without your intervention Cyrus." Her tone was clipped now as she all but spat out his name. All the anger she'd had for him over the years was rising to the surface and right now she was contemplating hitting him herself. Cyrus was the type to thrive on attention so he was using this little incident to show off to everyone else as if he was some fairytale knight. If he had wanted a true duel he would have done it away from people who could get hurt and where he and Lox would be on even footing.
"Now, now, we already have ample entertainment available. I don't think we require any more theatrics." Lord Darron cleared his throat as he made his way through the crowd and looked at the three of them. True to form there was still the ever present amused expression on his face even in the midst of all this chaos. The man was always in charge of whatever situation he found himself in but he wouldn't let the young noble spoil his good time. "Really now Darron; you'd allow your own kin to behave with so much familiarity towards an enemy prince? With this cat?" Another voice sounded now as a smaller man stepped forward with a smirk on his face. The man was small but he had an aura of power around him though his beady eyes and pinched nose made him look exactly like a rat. This was Lord Sydin, Cyrus' father. The air between the two men grew heavy as they eyed each other warily, neither one wanting to be the first to look away. There had been a rivalry between the two of them since they were younger and they had tried everything they could to to one-up the other and prove who was the best. The whole hall had fallen silent now as everyone held their breath waiting to see just what would happen next. These were both two very powerful men in the kingdom and even Reina had no idea just how her father would act being talked to in such a way.
Lord Darron didn't bat an eye as he looked from Reina and Lox to Cyrus and finally back to Lord Sydin. "Well Sydin, I believe that I've raised my daughter to be able to take care of herself. It is a shame that your son still needs his father to dictate his life. Besides, I happen to like cats." With that last part Lord Darron turned back to Lox and gave the younger man a quick wink before turning his attention back to Sydin. The tension was palpable now and everyone was holding their breath not knowing if there was going to be a full scale fight going on. All the while Lord Darron was still smiling though Reina had tightened her grip on Lox just in case he got any ideas in his head. Lord Sydin was practically fuming now and one could see his cheeks turn red as he struggled to contain himself from yelling like a common man. With a great show the man turned his back on them and motioned for Cyrus to follow him out of the main hall and away from peering eyes. Cyrus gave one quick peek signifying that their little match wasn't over yet before following his father out of the room. "Well now, why don't we get back to the festivities?" Lord Darron motioned for the music to start up again as he went to talk to a few friends in the corner. "Well that was close." Reina said as she finally let go of Lox's arm and looked up at him. "Never a dull moment here, huh?" Laughing slightly she gently grabbed onto his tail and started patting down the errant fur.
( sorry for the lateness. Projects were kicking my butt >< )
