A New Threat (Cerberus and Candria)

She frowned and walked with him, taking a plate of her own, though she didn't much feel like eating. "What do you think he'll do? Try to go back?" Choun asked, putting some steamed vegetables on all three of their plates before moving on to other things. Thinking of her friend made her wish that she could be around more--more reliable. Like Toshiro. He might have been lazy, and tease his friends a lot, but he was a good person....was she?

"Please let me know right away if you need my help."

"Frankly I don't know what he'll do. Never seen him like this and I've known him my entire life. I just don't know what he will do with his mindset like this. I've seen him talk about how important Family is to him and his kind but I've never seen him do anything about it. Most of the time he talks until you remind him of why he's doing something and why its important then he just calms down and is his normal self. But with his mother now one of the people who are sick. I don't know." He kept eating and trying to think about the possible outcomes this whole thing may play out. "All I know is that it will affect him heavily, Him and his mother were close, almost like she was his best friend and not his mother. Look why don't you run the food to him, see how he's doing Im going to check on a few things."

Choun nodded, finishing up her veggies and her plate of food, glad that she'd made herself eat. "Okay, I'll take up his food. He probably shouldn't be alone for long, so don't stay out too late, okay?" She smiled and then got up, taking the still warm plate of uneaten food with her. "Take care, Toshi." That said, the shapely girl was off to see her friend.

Moments later, she was at his door, knocking before she entered. "Hinoki?" she asked.

Hinoki's ears twitched as he heard someone knocking on the door. He quietly sat up in bed and sighed. "Its open." He was a little surprised that it was Choun walking in. "C..Choun, Hello." He curled his tail around himself and watched her before his nose picked up the scent of the food and his stomach rumbled telling him that he hadn't eaten. "Ah I guess You're bringing the food tonight." He sighed and shook his head thinking about his family. "This isn't good."

She sat on the edge of his bed, the food resting on her lap. "Hey. I know you're probably not all that hungry right now, but you do need to eat." She smiled softly, holding up the plate for him. "It'll be okay, we'll figure it out." She handed him the plate and the silverware, waiting for him to eat.

Hinoki looked at the food and sighed but reluctantly took the plate of food and ate. He really wasn't all that hungry and wasn't in the mood to eat but his friends were concerned and it was best to just eat and humor them so that a larger problem didn't arise. He looked at the food before eating it. his tail slowly curling then uncurling, something he always did out of habit when something was bothering him or he felt stressed. "Look you don't need to stay, you have studies to do and you don't want to fall behind. You have to uphold. your Student Body President for that matter."

"Hinoki, who do you think I am?" she laughed. "I'm ahead in all of my classes. One evening spent taking care of my friend isn't going to hurt anything. Besides, if I leave you're just going to throw the rest of the food away. Please? Just let me think I'm doing something by being here. Okay?"

Hinoki looked at Choun then sighed. "Fine." truth, he loved having her here and wished it was under better circumstances but right now he was just hurt and frustrated beyond all belief. He knew that there was nothing he could do. Doctors both human and the Furre had worked together but yet none had found anything to even detect the onset of this strange sickness. and here he was sitting and doing nothing. "It isnt right, I shouldn't Be here just sitting and doing nothing. I should be out there trying to find a way to cure it. She's my mother Damnit, she took care of me when I was sick now I need to do the same." He got up and walked out to the window, watching the storm grow as the rain poured down and the lightning tore across the sky.

Watching the rain and storm come down only made his mood worse. His tail whipped out from side to side as he looked at the window before slamming his fist against it, the glass luckily was made of something very strong since there were tendency where some furre students got angry and were able to break the glass in a single hit which would take a human maybe even harder and more then once and when they flew into the rage they either had someone to calm them, sedate them or they would ride it out but every furre was different and could go for even hours in a rage. Choun would have to think quick on what to do since Toshiro wasn't there and he normally just kept a small sedate dart around to calm Hinoki down.

Choun watched him, hurting for him. He was such a good person. That this was happening to him didn't seem fair at all. She frowned and followed him to the window, jumping as he hit it in agitation. Before he could do it again, she took his large hand into both of hers and looked up at him. "Hey...don't be so hard on yourself, okay? I can see how much it's hurting you--bothering you. But right now you just need to rest. Toshi and Krystal and I will help you all we can. But right now, there's not much we can do."

Sometimes being the voice of reason really sucked. It meant having to try and remain unaffected while her friends were in pain or frustrated or angry. She let go of his hand and put her arms around him instead, staying close to him.

Hinoki looked at Choun as she held his hand and slowly started to relax abit. "I..I guess you're right and getting worked up isn't going to settle anything." He then watched as she wrapped her arms around him and stood close to him. He sighed and wrapped his tail around her waist laying his head on her shoulder. "Im sorry, Im sorry for snapping at you and lashing out. Its not who I am or should be. You're only trying to help me and all Im doing is acting out."

He looked at her and smiled. "There is always hope." He watched her and boldly picked her up and carried her over to his bed before setting he down then laying down. "Don't know about you but Im tired and need some sleep."

It was comforting to be in his arms like this. No, not just comforting, comfortable. She let him return her embrace, and took solace in his warmth as he wrapped his tail around her waist. She smiled at his head on her shoulder, glad that she could provide some kind of comfort as well. At his apology she merely stayed silent until he was finished.

"It's okay, you know. You don't have to apologize for lashing out. It's my job as your friend to understand." She smiled and blushed softly as he picked her up and then set her back down on the bed. she watched as he climbed into the bed himself and lay down. Choun chuckled and pet his ears. "You want me to stay with you for awhile?" she asked, moving to lie down next to him.

Hinoki looked at Choun and smiled. "If you wouldn't mind..as strange as it may sound, just don't feel like being alone right now." He just kept her close and wrapped his tail around her to keep her close as he pulled the blanket around them and settled down for the night. He looked at her for a second and really wanted to say how he felt but he knew she deserved better then someone from the lower class like himself. sighing he curled up and pulled the blankets around the two of them and started to drift off to sleep.

meanwhile Toshiro had helped Krystal get kit settled down and relaxed with Krystal's family. "Well that should do it, least get back to campus before final bell and lights out. He thanked her mom and dad and older brother for the help before he walked outside with Krystal, luckily the rain had stopped and the moon was casting a nice glow through the clouds. "Now its struck one of us..great I still dont know what behind all of this., I just wonder how Hinoki will handle this in the passing days" Toshiro shrugged and pulled his coat tighter around himself.

(sorry bout absence. had a damn technology revolt on my hands)

Choun smiled at him and nodded. "It's okay. I understand." With that, the pretty girl found herself in his arms. She made herself comfortable, snuggling into him a little as he wrapped his tail around her. When the blanket was around them, she watched him for a moment, noticing that he was doing the same for her. She was just about to ask him what he was staring at when he closed his eyes, sighed, and started to drift off. Rather than disturbing her friend, who needed his rest, she let it lie and closed her eyes as well, resting with him.

Krystal made sure Kit had everything she needed and a playmate in her older brother. Once the little one was all unpacked and ready to stay the night, Krystal saw Toshiro come in, which got Kit all excited again. The happy-go-lucky girl just chuckled and accepted Toshiro's help. "Alright, hun. Time for bed." Once she was tucked away and safely in dreamland, Krystal left with her schoolmate, thanking her mom and dad and brother.

Outside, she saw Toshiro starting to get worked up now. "Toshi...you can't be so hard on yourself about this. A whole team of scientists hasn't figured it out yet. You can't expect to just know what's going on. Don't worry. We'll figure something out." She smiled and put her hand on his shoulder, walking with him toward their school. She wasn't in a big hurry.

"Hinoki will have a hard time of it--after all, it's his mother. We'll have to be strong for him. He'll be able to take it, I think. Not without some considerable pain and worry. But he'll be alright."
