The Bell rang signaling the end off the classes for the day. The rain was lightly pouring down on the old building of ITC or the International Technical Campus. Toshiro just yawned and looked over at Hinoki as he pulled his hood over his head. That boy always disliked the water. "Really Toshiro The problem can be solved by just focusing on the answer that is already given then working backwards. Toshiro just shook his head before pushing his friend out into the rain. "Ya sure man sure, and you will swim the ol'river blue won't you. Come on we need to get going and meet up with the girls."

Hinoki looked at Toshiro and just glared when he got pushed into the rain before following after his friend and roommate. "So have you heard the news about what has been going on in the town? Seems like everyone is just going into a coma for no reason. Doctors can't figure out what seems to be the problem."

Toshiro just shook his head pulling his jacket around himself. "Nope I havent heard anything new, just like everyone else. Thats all I've heard from the goings of the town and its problem."

Krystal shivered as she stepped outside, the air cold and damp as she walked along, her short skirt clinging to her thighs. She hugged herself, her blouse stretching over her chest just a bit as she did so. She hated wearing the button up shirts to school since they had a tendency to gap a bit, but it was laundry day. Oh well. She'd be with her friends soon. She smiled as she saw Choun, walking along.

The young woman walked along the path under her umbrella, headed for the meeting spot. She wore cute rain boots and a short pleated skirt. Beneath a longer coat she wore a cleavage-bearing shirt that made people drool as she bounced past. Krystal, of course, loved to tease her about her size. Choun, was even bigger than she was. The other girl saw it and ran through the rain to catch the girl.

"Hi, Choun!"

"Where's your umbrella, silly? You're going to catch a cold one of these days..." She frowned remembering the strange sickness sweeping through the area. "Come on, let's go find the guys."

That said, they went to waited at the rendezvous point.

Hinoki just shook his head as the water dripped onto his ears making them flick out of irritation. He looked over and spotted the girls coming out of the library and lounge building as they headed over to the meeting spot. "Well there we go theres Choun and Krystal, we might as well go and meet with them. His sharp eyes couldn't help but travel over Choun's frame. Though they had always been close friends since they were young, Hinoki always harbored a secret crush on her though he knew his family would prefer that he stick with his own kind.

Toshiro looked at Hinoki and gently nudged him. "Hey..pup lets go boy unless you like getting your fur soaking wet, cause I for one can't stand that smell." He watched as Hinoki snapped out of his daze and walked with him over to the large oak tree that was outside the dorm rooms. "Sorry we're late you two I don't think Hinoki could figure out if he was a Leopard or a turkey just looking at the rain waiting to drown.." Hinoki just rolled his eyes and curled his tail about his waist.

Choun smiled as they spotted the boys, but frowned as she realized that Hinoki was walking without an umbrella and so was Toshiro, though one of them was much drier than the other. "Hmmm...."

Krystal smiled and waved, bouncing a little when she saw the boys. When they arrived, she put her arms around them. "Hi guys! Oh, you're all wet. We should probably get out of the rain, huh?" she smiled and went back to the other girl.

Choun promptly punched Hinoki in the shoulder for his little remark. "Don't be smug, Hinoki. But you really shouldn't stay out in the rain like that, Toshiro. You could get sick." She frowned, her pretty features taking on a look of concern. "More and more people are ending up in the hospital lately...the last thing you want is to get sick...."

Toshiro just kept his hood up which prevented him from getting wet but Hinoki just laughed and looked at Choun. "Careful, keep hitting hard like that and someone might mistake you for a guy." He jumped back knowing that it would get another punch to his shoulder from her. Toshiro nodded. "I know but im not thinking it has anything to do with the rain or anything. its strange, people just dropping then not waking up. He looked at Krystal and just shook his head. "You are no different, lets get inside before both of you animals start to smell bad."

Hinoki just laughed abit before he took up the rear and walked inside to the dormitory and headed to the lounge and the fireplace. seeing the fireplace he promptly planted himself in front of it just letting his bag lay on his couch. Toshiro shook his head and went to the fridge to get their drinks knowing that both Krystal and Choun liked chilled orange juice while he took a good pop and Hinoki would just drink water. as a running joke he often would ask. "So Hinoki, a cup or a bowl?"

Choun sent him quite a withering look as he made his next comment. She didn't attempt to hit him for such a ridiculous idea. She had far too many curves to be considered anything other than a woman. She frowned as the conversation about comas continued, but was cut short. "Alright, inside is a better place," she said, walking with Krystal, under her umbrella. Once they reached the lounge door, she closed and shook out the umbrella, placing it in an umbrella wrack before coming to the couch to sit by the fire across from Hinoki.

Krystal decided to sit next to Choun, scooting close for more warmth. "Aww, quit teasing Hinoki, Toshiro. It's unbecoming from such a handsome guy."

Toshiro laughed and just handed everyone their drinks. "Hey HE was the one that started it by actually drinking from a bowl." He laughed as Hinoki picked his head up. "Oh come on man that was once, ONCE and it was because we didn't have any clean cups at the moment." Toshiro just laughed then looked at his friends. "All right now, since we're all inside and dry now, whats the plan for the rest of the day?" Toshiro walked over to the couches and got on his and laid down like he almost always did.

Hinoki shook his head and shook himself abit as he dried up. "I don't know, but has anyone noticed that as soon as the sickness started up so did this non stop rain? I mean once they started dropping so did the rainfall and it hasn't let up since. some rivers are starting to flood.

Choun nodded. "Yeah. A lot of crops are failing, and soon, we'll have a real problem on our hands," she said.

"But the rain lets up to a mist every now and then. I wonder if this is what it's like in London..." Krystal pondered, unable to stay on the serious side of conversation for the moment. Now, she was utterly fascinated with the way Toshiro could probably sleep through anything. How would he sleep in London? An image of him in bed came to mind and she blushed a little, wondering what it might be like to be in bed with him. She brushed aside that thought, however and returned her attention to Choun, who'd begun speaking once more.

"In any case, it doesn't seem like there's much we can do about it now. It does sort of limit our choices as far as plans go," she said, stretching back onto the couch, her shirt showing off a little more cleavage than fully intended. She crossed her legs and thought about it for a bit. "I don't know. What do you guys wanna do?"

Hinoki just drank his water and nodded. "I know but don't you think its just a little bit strange that the rain came as soon as this strange sickness did?" He looked up as another classmate walked in delivering mail, tossing one over to Hinoki who tilted his head but opened it and read it before seeming to go wide eyed. "no..." He jolted up and headed for the door without saying a word. But at least he was lucky, he only had to run a few blocks down into town for his house while the rest of his friends had to travel uptown for them. He didn't care that he was getting absolutely soaked to the bone from the rain. It didnt bother him as he ran through and into his home. It had now grabbed his mother. She had just refused to wake and what was strange was what looked like a word burned into the large wood door of his mother's room. burned in the wood was the words "Stand"

Choun sipped at her orange juice and nodded, thinking over Hinoki's point. It was quite strange, but there was no way to know if they were really connected or not. Perhaps she was just thinking too hard. As the mail came in, she set her glass down and caught a letter that was meant for her as well. Before she could open it, Hinoki was freaking out. And then he was gone.

She was up on her feet in an instant, rushing after her friend. She pulled her coat back on and grabbed her umbrella, racing out into the rain. Once Choun reached his house, she was out of breath from running so fast. She panted as she hurried to the door, closed her umbrella and came into the house, the door still open. "Hinoki?"

Krystal watched, obviously worried, as the two left. "Toshi...What did it say?" she asked, standing now as well. She walked to her friend and looked at the door. "Should we go after them?"

Toshiro got up shaking his head. "I dont know..and I have no clue what it said to get Hin so upset, he just bolted out of here like a bat out of hell. I guess we should go after them." Toshiro got up and grabbed his jacket and umbrella and started to head out with Krystal. "I have no idea what could make Hinoki just rush out like that. it looked like he had seen a ghost." He just kept walking the few blocks down to Hinoki's home.

Hinoki stood by his mother's bed, his father was dealing with hinoki's little sister and trying to keep her calm. Normally he would of been upset that Choun had come in but this time he didn't say a word. Hinoki just shook his head looking at his mother as she just lay there, cold and still as stone. "How..just...how?" He just leaned against the large tree trunk that the house was built around. He didn't even seem to notice that the vines that hung by the walls moved ever so slightly as if they were alive. All he could think about was his mother and the words burnt into the door. "Stand"

"Hinoki?" Choun took in the scene around her, shocked that such a thing had happened, the word on the door burned into her mind as well as the wood. She walked slowly, quietly to her friend's side and put her hand on his shoulder. She was well aware of how much he loved his mother. And now...What could she say to him?

Krystal came with Toshiro, racing through the rain with him, not worried about an umbrella, just her jacket, which she'd pulled on as an afterthought. When they arrived, the scene before them was shocking.

Hinoki just shook his head. "I...I can't go back..I have to stay here...look after little Kit..dad works..I have to stay." He was more talking to himself then Choun as he really hadn't registered that she had even come into the house. He was also noticeably cold to the touch despite normally being warm but this whole thing had now taken the warmth and the color out of him as if it was making him sick as well. Hinoki's father was working on trying to calm down his little daughter but the little kit kept squirming and crying out wanting her mother and now that Hinoki had come in crying for him as well.

Hinoki looked over and gently picked her up from his father who said something before heading into the downstairs basement to try and find some kind of cure, since he didn't trust nor think the human doctors were doing anything that was helping anyone.

Toshiro looked at Hinoki then to Choun and gently tapped her on her shoulders. "I can't believe this has happened, but look at him. I know its not the best but we need to get him out of here. he'll only make himself sick with worry."

Choun was forced to let go of him as he pulled away and picked up his little sister. She watched, her heart heavier than even before. She bowed to his father respectfully and wished him the best she could. Then Toshiro and Krystal arrived. She nodded at his suggestion and then headed after their friend, motioning for Toshiro to follow her.

Krystal told Hinoki's father that Kit was welcome to stay with her parents during the day while he was at work. "And you're welcome to stay too," she said, knowing her parents would agree.

Hinoki gently rocked Kitara trying to get her to calm down and relax. "Shh,shh momma's just sleeping she'll be up in the morning just let her sleep." the little kit kept asking questions of her brother, wondering why daddy wasn't going to lay down or why all of his friends were coming into the house. "Its okay my friends are just here to help me pick something up." He smiled and gently rocked her. to Hinoki his family meant everything to him. They had done all that they could possibly do to get him into the boarding school and so he felt it was up to him to do everything he could for them. just how he always sent every bit of money he got from working odds and ends at the school back to his family.

Toshiro followed Choun back to deal with Hinoki to get him to calm down and relax and head back to campus. Even though he was Hinoki's best friend he knew that he would listen to Choun as a voice of reason.

Choun smiled softly at Kitara and came to Hinoki's side. It was painful to see him so worried, to see his little sister so scared. But she had to get him out of here. "Hi Kitara," she said, smiling at the little girl, trying to put on a show as though nothing was wrong. "Our friend Krystal is upstairs and she wants to talk to you for a minute, can you go say hi to her?" she asked. As if on cue, friendly, happy Krystal showed up in the doorway.

The wolf girl smiled and waved at Hinoki's little sister. "Hi Kitara. Wanna come play with me for a little bit?"

Hinoki looked at Kitara as she squirmed out of her brother's hands and down the floor before running over to Krystal and smiled. She took Krystal's hand and went with Krystal. Hinoki looked at Choun then looked at Toshiro and sighed. "Look I'd love to head back and finish up classes but I just can't. With mom now down sick, My dad works so that means I will have to stay home and watch Kitara Someone has got to and keep the upkeep of this house and family." He shook his head and out of nervous habit scratched at his ears as they flicked, feleing the changing temperature and slight air current in the room.

Toshiro just shook his head watching his friend knowing that he would do this and will get himself all worked up. "Up to bat Choun, if he gets worse im dragging him back."

Krystal and the little girl happily went off to play in her room, the girl sufficiently calmed. Choun smiled and then turned her attention back to Hinoki and listened to his words. "Hinoki, I know how important your family is to you. But you can't be expected to pick up the slack. Your parents are well-liked in this neighborhood. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would help while you're at school. And it's not like you can't come back and visit. But you can't stop going to classes or you really won't be able to help. And then your tuition will be wasted." She put her hands on his shoulders and looked into his eyes. "You can't do it all. And I know you'll be getting help. And if you stay here, you'll work yourself to the bone, and if you get sick, then what?"

Hinoki looked at Choun and sighed. really all she had to do was just look at him and he would of collapsed and done as asked, so with her talking to him trying to get him to relax and holding onto him. He had no other choice. "All right fine, I'll head back. I bet even dad will be able to pick the night time shift and watch Kitara during the day." He nodded and looked at Choun and the color seemed to return to him just a little bit. "Thanks..I.." He didn't say much before collapsing from stress and exhaustion.

Toshiro quickly headed over and checked just to make sure. "Yup..knew it would catch up with him. Lets get him back to campus and into bed so he can relax after all this. the stress just must of been too much." He gently shifted and pulled Hinoki onto his back with him asleep. "we'll get him out and to campus, I think Krystal will get Kitara all set up to be fine and we'll head back."

Visibly relaxed, Choun sighed with relief once he agreed to go back. But then he passed out. She managed to keep him sitting up in the chair. Toshi handled the rest. "Poor guy..." She gently pet his head and then let her friend take him away. She stood up and buttoned her coat up, following after.

Krystal and Kitara were holding hands, dressed up for the weather, looking adorable. "So, you've got everything you need for tonight, right?" she asked.

She noticed that Hinoki was out of it and decided it was best not to upset the little one again. "Let's give daddy a hug before you come with me, okay?" And then she led Kitara to her father for a hug. She poked her head out the door and motioned for Choun.

"She's going to spend the night with me at my mom and dad's. The should be here to get us soon. I'd offer you guys a ride, but I don't want Kit to see her brother like this after she just calmed down from her mom."

Choun nodded and let her go before she got her umbrella and Toshiro's and then followed the boys.

Toshiro kept Hinoki resting on his back as they made the walk back. Carrying him into the rooms. "Well Choun I'll see you tomorrow and i'll make sure this one gets a good nights rest. if he wakes after dinner I'll have a hot meal brought up to him." He sighed and shook his head. "Cant belive this happened to him. I know how close him and his mother were." Toshiro brought him up to the room and set Hinoki onto the bed tucking him in. Once done he walked back down to the lounge room and sat down in a chair. "This can't be something normal. there has to be some reason as to why its happening and how its spreading."

Choun took their umbrellas and put them in the holder by the door. "You're a good friend, Toshi." She smiled and kissed his cheek, petting Hinoki's ears before Toshiro hauled him off. "I think I'll be waiting here. I don't wanna leave just yet." She sat down near the fireplace, curling up on the couch trying to warm up. A few moments later, Toshiro returned and she agreed.

"It's hard to imagine something like this happening until it really happens to someone who's close to you. There has to be a cause, but no doctor has found it yet..." She frowned, looking at her friend. "What are we going to do?"

Toshiro nodded. "I know but what are we to do, That I don't know. But something has to be done." Toshiro just shook his head and sighed. "Look I'll start doing some research and try to find out the first known case or subject zero then see what it had in common with everyone else to see if there are any commonalities between each person who has come down with this strange sickness. But as for right now Im proabably going to head to the commons and get something to eat and bring back a hot meal for Hinoki for when ever he wakes up, Im better maybe an hour or so before he wakes up and then he'll be hungry."

"Research isn't a bad idea," she said, thoughtfully. "Hey, do you want some company? I don't really want to be by myself for a bit. I think too much when I'm by myself," she said with a frown. "Besides, if you go by yourself, you'll just pick junk food," she said, teasing him.

Toshiro laughed and looked at Choun. "I will not, I look after him thank you very much." He just laughed and wrapped his top coat around himself and tightened the belt. "All right lets go." He then headed out and headed to the commons area. In there was the big screen tv that held the attention to many of the other students. besides that was the large fireplace and hallways leading to the library, classes and to the other dorm areas. Toshiro walked in and headed to the food line, first getting his own food before getting another plate for Hinoki. "Im worried about how he'll react once the shock wears off of him."
