Thanks for taking the time to read this thread. After taking somewhat of a break from writing, I decided to jump back into things. The main theme that is interesting to me at the moment is corruption. There are several different underlying tones and themes to such an idea but I thought it would be something fun to explore. What is most interesting to me about the theme of corruption is watching a female character develop while traveling through an incredibly intense, passionate, and confusing psychological journey for herself. She is discovering so much about herself throughout the process that she didn’t know was there.
I think it’s fun to write against female characters who have great heads on their shoulders and are rather successful. They’re attractive, confident, well-liked, but I think most importantly, they’re sure of themselves. They are planners. They have a path for their life that they want and the path that their life took leading up to this point has truly made her them happy. The problem is, they are completely unaware that the happiness and fulfillment they are experiencing is truly just surface level. By the time a dominant and confident male counterpart is introduced to her life, the proper man, Her true corruption begins and her self-discovery process is initiated.
She will probably fight it. She might even hate it. Her brain will be telling her that it’s wrong. She’ll be doing things that she never imagined. She’ll be dressed in ways that she used to frown upon. And yet, she won’t be able to stop herself from enjoying it. Why is that the case? I also think it would be fun to include a simple element of traditional gender roles and biology to this corruption. When the man corrupting her easily demonstrates his confidence and masculinity, is it even possible for her to stop her natural submissiveness and feminine energy from being displayed?
Corruption like this could be initiated in many different ways. Perhaps she has a best friend who can sense that she isn’t truly fulfilled despite the fact that she thinks she is. Does a playful nudge from her friend to explore a different type of man get the rock rolling down the mountain? Is she set up on a date? Or, does a dominant man observe his prey for the first time and realize that she is ripe for the plucking and a hint of blackmail might soon get her on her knees where he knows her subconscious wants her to be? The options are endless.
There are many different ways to explore a corruption based scenario but the overall thought is to write against a confident and very appealing woman who simply lives a happy life. But when buttons that she didn’t even know she had to start getting pushed, the confusing fall from grace that she experiences only lands her in the puddle of submissiveness that she truly adores. Perhaps she wasn’t corrupted at all, but rather rescued from the life that she thought she wanted. Corruption could work for a single or married woman.
