Slaughter House (YusukeXKurama) [EDDE x FavoredFox]

With a grunting, Yusuke managed to capture Puu by his long neck, keeping him in a headlock as he hollared "I'm sorry, okay?!" Puu went from frustrated to looking hurt after a small moment's worth of struggle. He offered a pathetic whine up at Yusuke, and the teen balked. He pushed Puu's face away grumpily, but gently. "Shut up, both of you," he huffed.

But he knew exactly what Puu was feeling in that moment. After all, he was feeling it somewhere deep inside him too. It just wasn't as easy as simply apologizing, though. With another sigh, Yusuke's attention trailed over to Kurama's injured arm. His face matched Puu's rather quickly as he looked over the wrapping. "How bad did I hurt you," he asked quietly. Not that it mattered, really. Any amount was horrifying to try to comprehend.

Still, he reached out to gently grasp at the hand of the injured arm so he could look it over, but flinched back sharply as he remembered how horribly pleased he was with the taste of Kurama's blood in his mouth. Right now though, he was beginning to feel nauseous. "I'm...." he couldn't just say he was sorry. The apology died on his lips with a soft huff of a hum at himself.

Idiot.

Kurama soothed his own laughter at the huffed order, watching as Puu's exuberance changed into something heartrendingly pitiful. Was that how Yusuke felt now? It wouldn't be surprising. One of the reasons he ran as hard as he did was to avoid this crushed look on Yusuke's face. Kurama had wanted to badly to protect him from this exact thingy. But at least they were both still breathing.

"It will heal," he answered vaguely. It wasn't a lie, but the wound that had been inflicted on him was severe. He couldn't move it much, and he dared not try for fear of inflicting more pain on himself, and thus, Yusuke. "I know," he offered gently, taking another step towards his lover. "I believe we should stay here in demon world for a while. Just until we decipher what happened today," he suggested, holding out his right hand for the former detective to take. "Everything will be alright Yusuke. You will see."

It took everything in him not to jump away as violently as his insides dropped as Kurama took a step closer. He couldn't stop himself from leaning away slightly, though. Big chocolate eyes were glued to the wound on his arm, even as he lowered his head and hid them under his mussed hair. A frown was etched on his lips, and his lips trembled and jaw quivered slightly when Kurama reached out his hand.

His own tucked behind his back, crossing hard against it and he took a sharp hold against his own elbows. He was calm now, but...

"I bit you, right?" That was an understatement. His voice betrayed his poor attempt to hide his cowering with a break in it as he asked.

Kurama let his hand fall away when Yusuke refused to take it. He looked so... young, so soft in that moment. Like a child being scolded for being in a street fight with that lump on his face. He could tell his lover was seconds away from tears. He felt his own heart ache at the thought, and he cursed his own weakness for allowing the bite to happen at all.

And that question... It hurt. It made his chest swell in pain and his arm throbbed even more. He flinched, glad Yusuke wasn't looking at him and couldn't see it. He bit down on words that wanted to spill out in spite. Instead, he closed the distance between them, grabbed Yusuke by the shoulders and pulled him into a tight, one armed hug. He tucked his boyfriend's head under his chin and shut his eyes. "Tell me. What do you remember?"

Yusuke gasped sharply when he was suddenly pulled towards the redhead. His vision had gone blurry just after his eyes had heated up from the silence he got in responsento his question. He didn't see the movement because of it. "Don't..." The protest was meek at best, but his own arms shot forward and landed on his boyfriend's hips, so ready to push him away. A thought that hit the back of his mind stopped him from doing it though. The thought that it would be far too cruel to deny Shuichi a hug after what he'd done to him. A weird nose left his chest that lie somewhere between a sob and a whimper as he pressed his face into Kurama's chest and the hold hebhad on his hips curled into his clothing.

This was wrong. "Vaguely...? Playing tag with you." This should be the other way around if they were going to be close like this after everything. "Then, I think your hair bit me." He was such a freaking selfish child.

"And then I... I dunno, I was sitting on top of you and you were bleeding so much." He shouldn't be the one in his lover's arm shaking like a leaf and a trembling voice. "I freaked out seeing that, I guess." It was backwards. "I only remember feeling like I needed to get the Hell out of there after that." He really hated himself right now.

Behind Yusuke, Puu hunkered down in his spot and leaned his long neck over the shorter boy to gently touching the side of his beak to the top of Kurana's head with a gentle nuzzle.

Once he was sure Yusuke wouldn't pull away again, he placed his hand gently on the back of his head once more, cradling the trembling teen to his chest. He offered a soft, soothing sound in the back of his throat as Yusuke spoke. He had to stop himself from choking. Tag... He really was just playing tag? Then this was all his own fault. He was the one to panic, he was the one who ran, he was the one who escalated their playtime into violence. None of this would be happening if he hadn't been such a coward. If he'd kept his cool. That was his roll in their team and their relationship, and he'd failed.

I'm sorry... The words died on his tongue. Yusuke wouldn't have that at all, and he wouldn't risk making him run off again. His eyes clenched shut as they began to burn, but shot back open as Puu's beak bushed against his hair. He looked up at Puu with a pitiful expression that he didn't bother to disguise right away. He let himself be seen by that bird before he schooled his features again. "What about before we... Started playing?" His voice was only slightly off, and he absently swallowed to stabilize it more. "Do you remember why you were covered in blood when I found you?"

Kurama was letting him be selfish. Dammit. He needed to get it together. He took a few deeper, shakey breaths. A part of him wanted to stay cuddled up close to the redhead. Hell, he practically wanted to crawl inside him and hide there forever. But he couldn't just hide either, no matter how much he wanted to.

Stabilizing himself, he tugged his face away from the cloth he'd buried it in and tilted his head up to look into those green eyes, resting his chin on his breast. The raven haired teen's expression was still pained, but had calmed down considerably as he found some resolve. That last question bothered him. "Maybe at the time... i think. But I didn't know I was until you asked just now."

He released the frantic hold he'd taken on his left side and hesitantly lifted it to the horrifying hidden wound he'd created, petting over the knot of the wrapping so he wouldnt actually touch it and cause him more pain as he turned large chocolate eyes on it. It made him cringe even though he couldnt see the damage. "It's all pretty blurry now," he admitted. "I think... whatever I was doing before that just didnt matter anymore as soon as I saw you." It was a common occurrence on any occasion, really.

Puu, if there was one, didn't react outwardly to Kurama's pained face aside from to turn his head and cuddle at the top of red hair a bit more to the side to allow him better movement. It was really the only way he could pet at the teen.

Yusuke straightnened out and tilted his head, and Kurama only just gave him enough room to do so. He pressed into that nuzzling beak with a smile that was far too sweet, his own guilt threatening to come through if he didn't force that smile. "This blood, most of it belongs to other demons," he clarified, not wanting the teen's mind to wander too much.

He didn't move away from the hand reaching for his wounded arm, and didn't flinch when the knot holding the makeshift bandages on was touched. "Like I said. It will heal," he promised.

Kurama couldn't stop a huffed laugh that puffed his chest. Even now, Yusuke found some way to be charming. Nothing else mattered once he'd shown up? This was his fault. The words kept screaming across his mind. If he'd just trusted Yusuke, then none of this would be happening. "Everything will be all right now," he soothed once more. He finally turned his green eyes down to meet the puppydog brown looking up at him, then leaned forward to touch their noses together in a light rub. "Trust me."

Yusuke pouted lightly as he felt like he was being laughed at. He didnt know what part of this was funny either. He was about to bark his annoyance at the redhead, but became distracted with the change in their closeness that told him what his eyes were worried he was seeing. He flinched slightly when their noses got close. But the touching of them wasn't what he expected as the follow through. He didnt know why. Kurama loved to nuzzle their noses together. He'd been worried about receiving a kiss when he still had the taste of blood in his mouth. Well, Blood and dirt, now. Not that that mattered.

He also wasn't sure why the simple nuzzle was able to calm his nerves so much. Big chocolate eyes were soft when they opened back up from their flinch, crossing slightly in an attempt to look into the far too close forest ones in front of them as he nuzzled back and wrapped his arms gently around Shuichi's waist.

"I understand what you mean," he told him softly. "But this is never gonna be okay." A soft frown touched his lips, but it wasn't out of hurt. It was his serious face. Although with the crossed eyes it would be hard to tell. "You know what I mean?"

Before Kurama could answer, Yusuke became distracted by the sound of casual footsteps walking up and stopping beside them. "Ass." Hiei humphed out as he raised his arm and socked Yusuke none-too-gently in the arm.

"Ow," Yusuke exclaimed in a whine, sucking in a short breath between his teeth. "Bitch." It was added sharply as a nearly visceral reaction.

Hiei glowered up at him, annoyance edging his angry look into a slight pout as Yusuke casually name-called. "What the Hell is wrong with you?"

The teen smiled down at Hiei gently, replacing his bruised and swollen cheek with his chin. "Sooooo many thiiiings." The jeering tune was pointed inward. Hiei didnt look amused by it. Yusuke felt like he deserved worse. For some reason, Hiei wasn't rolling that out.

Kurama felt his own bodily tension relax as Yusuke finally returned the hold. It brought relief to his tired form, and he was so tempted to just fall into Yusuke and let the teen hold him up. He wanted that comfort so badly, but the words sent his way were sharp and stabbing in spite of their calmly spoken nature. "Time heals many things," he tried to argue. It had to be okay. He wouldn't accept that things wouldn't return to their norm. He couldn't. It would break him.

But his words barely left his lips before Hiei was slamming a fist into Yusuke's arm and put an end to their moment. He shot a look at the fire demon, but only sighed out his annoyance. "Children, please," he commented dryly. "Now is hardly the time." Now was the time for talking, and Hiei had just taken that away from him. He was tempted to add another shinner to the fire demon's other cheek in spite, but he thought better of it. He was too weak at the moment to deal any sort of damage anyway. The thought brought attention to the blood still seeping into the bandages and dribbling down his arm.

"We should get to Makuro's wandering castle," he pointed out. "Puu, would you mind giving us another lift?"

Crimson eyes darted as far away from Kurama's as they could the moment that look settled on him. Hiei huffed out a quiet sigh. Kurama would probably kill himself to stop him from dolling out retribution to the moron for what he had done. In no way was his rage at the former detective quelled, but he visibly calmed. It helped when Puu popped up and cooed lightly down at the fox for his request. Not for that part, but for the part where it stretched out its wings to hunker down to give them an easier boarding, and one of those wings swiped across Yusuke's face by mistake.

The teen made a bunch of odd noises as he was smothered by a few large feathers before landing an annoyed look on the spirit beast. Shaking his head with a sigh, Yusuke stood from his hunched position and tugged on the small of Kurama's back lightly. "You can lean on me on the way there," he offered carefully. He was supposed to be the strong one. So he'd just have to suck it up for the time being. He could wallow later. "You've lost a lot of blood." It was hard not to look hurt when he mentioned as much. "It'd probably be good for you to get some rest right away."

"Hn. He shouldn't need it." Hiei accused as he glared at him before hopping up onto Puu's back himself. The two of them wouldn't have an easy time finding Makuro's base without him.

Hiei was right. Kurama shouldn't need it. Yusuke shook a bit for a moment as he schooled his features, but an annoyed smirked rolled across his face anyway as he looked up at the stupid little bastard. "That reminds me. Nice face, Hiei. Maybe you should take a nap too."

"Speak for yourself!" It was shot back angrily.

Yusuke let go of Kurama in order to hop on onto Puu himself, further annoying Hieo by ignoring him after trying to start a fight like that. Though it was because he plopped down and leaned over, his full attention on Kurama as he offered out his left hand as a crutch to get up himself.

Kurama huffed a quiet laugh as he dodged a fluff of feathers that accosted Yusuke's face. He wasn't sure if Puu was doing it on purpose, but it was amusing to watch the large spirit beast get it's long awaited vengeance over its master's old tormenting. He enjoyed the small moment of Yusuke pulling him closer, but let out a soft sigh. "I will be fine, truly," he assured once again. "I have survived much worse." And he had, even in this body. The single bite was nothing compared the wounds he'd gained during the dark and demon tournaments. Still, he smiled at the offer. "But I would like that very much, thank you."

He felt Yusuke shake against him, and Kurama shot another look at Hiei. Yusuke didn't need that reminder, and the little demon was not helping the situation he was trying to calm. But Yusuke retaliated, and the fox let out a quiet groan of annoyance. "There will be repercussions for you both if I end up falling off of Puu due to your bickering," he promised as he took the offered arm to help him climb up onto Puu's back once more.

Once on, he shifted himself just right to be able to lean back against his lover with a small sigh of relaxation, tilting his head to find a comfortable spot to rest it. "Don't allow me to fall," he teased lightly.

Hiei looked away and pouted again. "Hn." Kurama usually like it when they bickered just right, as long as it started a proper fight after. Not that he didnt understand what Kurama was angry with him about this time as he egged the former detective on. Unlike Kurana, Hiei wasn't horrible at all at playing dumb when it came to those sorts of social things, considering how socially retarded he actually could be... Well, he was good at it as long as Kurama didnt call him out on it. He just quieted down and stared off into the distance as Puu took off. He needed to be paying attention elsewhere anyway.

"Don't worry. I'll hold you nice and tight." Yusuke's soft voice as he wrapped his arms around Kurama's waist and did just that was an held an incredibly familiar tone; gently and sweet with a small, not quite sultry growl in it, that always seemed to be hiding some innuendo in its tease even when it absolutely wasn't. Puu took off and Yusuke steeled himself against the change in pressure. He had utter faith in the phoenix that he wouldnt change his flight pattern in any way that would have Yusuke losing his balance.

Yusuke leaned his face forward and pressed his cheek to Kurama's peeking at him with those shining, devious eyes of his. "Yanno," he slurred in an attempt to put on his silly charm a little, after a long moment of silence where his own eyes were looking out over the horizon for Makuto. The damn thing should be visible miles and miles away. "Just cause you've had worse don't mean you shouldn't be careful when you're hurt less."

With a soft pout, he put his chin on his shoulder and continued leaning their faces together. "Besides, it ain't like I'm being careful with you cause of how bad it is." He paused, crunching his face a bit at his choice of words. "Well no, I am but..." The smallest tick of guilt bled into his pout. "Mph. You know what I mean," he decided.

Kurama shivered. He tried not to, but Yusuke so close to him, holding him gently yet firmly, growling into his ear with the scent of Kurama's own blood on his breath... A lump formed in his throat that he swallowed away, and he pretended the little shake was just the normal delighted reaction he always had when Yusuke drew so close. He hummed softly and leaned back further into the hold to again find his peace, only slightly flinching as Puu took off and shifted his wounded body.

Yusuke touched their cheeks together, and Kurama shifted his head for a slight nuzzling as Yusuke continued to speak in that dummy way of his that could make Kurama smile under the most terrible of circumstances. He laughed light as Yusuke tumbled over his own words, and lifted his right hand to touch his lover's other cheek with the tips of his fingers. "I know," he assured. "And I appreciate it. Immensely."

The fox turned his head again to nuzzle a bit harder against his lover, trying to ignore the stench of his own blood coming from Yusuke's mouth. It had passed. It was done. Yusuke wasn't trying to hurt him anymore. So why did he feel so... sick? He hummed a sweet sound. "I will be alright, so long as you are with me," he murmured.

Yusuke was making no sense at all. At least to Hiei. "What are you muttering over there," he asked cool. Kurmama seemed to understand and he didnt like being out of the loop.

Yusuke smiled lightly at the nuzzle he received, the grin growing a bit as Hiei made a disgusted noise behind them for the sweet words that had been returned. Although it dropped to a bit more serious as he thought about his answer for the fire demon for a moment. "It's not about how bad it is," he told him so surely Hiei was actually interested. "It's about how bad it is."

Hiei growled shortly at the decidedly stupid answer staring lasers into the back of his head, and only growing more annoyed when Yusuke finished with, "You wouldn't understand."

The human long ago turned demon could tell Kurama wasn't completely comfortable, but he returned the nuzzles gently anyway. Pulling away after making such a promise would be cruel. "Is there anything I can do about it?" The question was quiet as he peeked at him ashamedly.

He wasn't sure which part of any of this had Kurama so stiff to him at the moment. He didnt blame him, but maybe if he did something to help....

Kurama chuckled lightly at the interaction between Yusuke and Hiei. He would try to explain to the fire demon, but his lover was right. Hiei simply wouldn't understand. "Don't worry Hiei. It takes quite a bit of time and effort to speak 'Yusuke' fluently," he teased lightly. That wouldn't be the fire demon's issue in understanding, but hopefully that would be a suffice enough excuse for the time being. Perhaps if they were alone he would try to explain better, but doing so now would only throw more cadence to his condition and, more importantly, how he came to be in said condition; and Kurama just wanted to move passed it. At least for a little while.

He hummed thoughtfully at the question sent his way, flinching slightly at the fact that he'd been caught. He was trying to hide his discomfort, and he thought he was doing a good job of it. Apparently not. Yusuke could still read him so completely. "Yes," he answered after a few moments. He brought his hand to his hair and pulled free a mint leaf that he duplicated several times until six sat in his palm. "Try chewing on these. Don't swallow them until they've become a paste in your mouth." It wouldn't rid Yusuke of the smell of his blood. Nothing but a bath or shower would do that, but it would at least get it off of his breath.

Hiei snuffed out an obtuse response. "Nevermind then. I neither want, nor need to know how to speak idiot." He crossed his arms, looking out over the horizon as they flew on. "That bastard has made me lose enough brain cells."

"Chea, by knocking them out of you," Yusuke sang back before getting ditracted by the leaves in Kurama's hand. He could smell them. "Ooh, menthol," he cheered quietly to himself as he leaned forward a bit and poked his tongue out toward them, his lips puckered tightly around it. He wanted to be able to touch his tongue to them and see if they stuck so he could just pull them into his mouth. But given their position, he opted to simply sit there reaching for them with it until Kurama reacted to his annoying little hum as he strained it and finally gave in to feed them to him.

Hiei was glaring daggers at him again. Probably even harder for the fact that he'd started something just to ignore him for the second time in a just a few minutes. Although he felt the stare lift off the back of his head as the small demon's attention fell on his reaching tongue. "Ch. You aren't helping your case, moron."
