"I understand wanting to work for a dragon — they're magnificent creatures — but teaming up with kobolds? Attacking Greenest? Aylin didn't really expect him to open up to her; she'd proven herself his enemy, and she hadn't given him any real reason to do so. In all likelihood the others were having more luck anyway. She didn't see any reason not to try, though — and she was genuinely curious about what might have brought him to this fight.

Ah, so that was it, then. Fanatics. Aylin closed her eyes, smirking a little to herself in the dark as the man ranted. That still left some questions, of course — like what they were after with this attack, or who exactly they worshipped — but it made his character clear.
