Hoard Of The Dragon Queen [IC]

"You underestimate yourself," Aylin spoke up from behind Linan. "It took a great deal of courage to bring your family this far. There is more of a warrior inside you than you realize, I think."

The sun-elf placed a reassuring hand on the townswoman's shoulder as she passed by, on her way forwards towards the stairs the guard had indicated. "You and your family should try to rest. It will be a long day yet."

That said, she continued on towards the stairs — nodding to the guardsman along the way. She still had plenty of fight left in her; hopefully the governor and his castellan knew where they could be of the most help.

Armarille was silent along the way, not wanting her whimsy to attract any unwanted attention. So she stuck behind everyone, letting them take charge, until at last they came to the keep.

She let out a sigh of relief, shaking her head as she said, "There we are! You're safe now. And if you ever need help again, remember us!"

At the mention of the governor, Armarille nodded, bowing politely as she answered, "It's only fair we help out. We'll head up immediately!"

And off she went, dashing off to find the governor.

Aurora nodded to her companions, folding her arms, with her sword now hanging from her back. "I'm glad we could save a few good folk. Take care of your kin, Linan!"

With a friendly wave at the family, she followed Aylin and Armarille.

"Oh, yes! More chances to sing to the beauty of the world and protect it! Let's go slap some dragon ass, my friends!"

Her words were friendly and upbeat, but her expression was completely decided and challenging.

A few of the townsfolk look at Aurora when she mentions the dragon ass, but no one voices anything. She helped save a family, after all.

Up the stairs, you see two people stand out amidst the defense. There's a tall, skinny human man with black hair, and a stout dwarven man with a knotted red beard. The dwarf is the first to notice your approach. "Who are you?" he asks.

You quickly explain that you're here to help.

"We can use all the help we can get. We've barely got enough soldiers to keep the keep itself safe," he says.

"And keep it safe we will," the human says. "Governor Nighthill."

"Castellan Escobert," the dwarf introduces himself.

The governor thinks a moment, appraising you all with his gaze. "If the dragon doesn't attack us directly, I think we can keep the keep secure. But if you're willing to provide aid, there are some excursions that might help clear Greenest of this invasion outside the keep. Don't feel you have to say yes," he stresses.
