Ok. Here is a couple of ideas:
(1) The boat gets caught in a storm and collides with jagged reefs, causing the boat to capsize. Those on-board escape just in time and swim to the island. Only to have their ride at the bottom of the ocean.
(2) They collide on the beach and are stuck in the sand, suddenly without warning. Injuries sustained when that happens but not knocked out cold.
(3) The group arrives onto the island, safe from any dangers in the water. But after they get onto the dock/land, exploring for a bit and hearing an explosion or metal grinding as the boat is damaged from leaking fuel after being attacked by the dinosaurs on land or underwater
