โ€œYour target will be the Queen of the Soviet Union, Koroleva, aka Kira Agafonov. Sheโ€™s the architect behind the Nochony Obelisk and the one who single handedly took down the USSR with her forces. Rumor has it her bodycount gutted a third of the Sovietโ€™s population making the WW2 casualties look like childโ€™s play. We have intel of an upcoming attack soon so I need to know if youโ€™re in or out.โ€ Ebony nails placed the file on the cool desk right where the dhampir could see from his seat. He tugged on the uncomfortable red striped jumpsuit. His forever blemished cheek feigned a smile but his perpetual scowling stare only made him look like a firecracker ready to go off at any moment. โ€œWhen do I start?โ€ he inquired in an unfazed tone after memorizing the details of this high priority target. โ€œYou just did,โ€ she said with a slight purse in her lips to smile.

Then a suffocating bag enveloped him into darkness, โ€œMake sure you pass their test. Oh and clean up the stragglers for us,โ€ she said before he was whisked away from the comfort of the office. The rest of what happened came in a blur. He was urged into a vehicle before the roar of the engine sent him jutting backward while the newly inhibiting shackled chains chuckled in a jeering fashion as they clashed against each other. As if laughing at his misfortune.

The 21st century. Ever approaching, The birth of a new millennia and representing a new beginning. A blank canvas. To be painted in warmth. To grant man an opportunity to shed away the former millenniumโ€™s wars, prejudice, and hardships. To spark hope for a brighter future with anticipation of a better tomorrow. To embark on new voyages of discovery and explore new frontiers. To reach the depths of our oceans or to make the heavens above a part of manโ€™s world once again. But this hope was misplaced; for man would soon barely be able to even keep their home safe from the sinister creatures whoโ€™ve been lurking in the darkness. Waiting to strike at the most opportune moment. They were the painter now and they will drown the canvas in blood and forever stain this millennium in terror.

The first case of sudden human disappearance started right after summer ended for the northern hemisphere of the globe in 1999. The Soviet Union, China, The United States, and several European countries suddenly had small towns be turned into eerie ghost towns. Panic set in when daily reports turned to weekly news headlines of mass disappearances without any trace except for an obvious struggle and bits of blood left behind. The trail of this eerie occurrence was slowly slithering to the massive urban jungles home to millions. Whispers of serial killers with fangs picking off people in the dead of night started filling online primitive forum boards. With sketchy photographs and conspiracy theories slowly becoming a reality as time went on. The seeds of mistrust and fear of the night began to settle within the subconscious.

By the time world leaders couldnโ€™t ignore these staggering reports anymore it was already too late. Phase 2 went into effect. The nightwalkers had gained massive strength from the copious amounts of feeding and now aimed at the highest ranking members in human society. For decades they had risen and weaseled their way through humanityโ€™s ranks only to then suddenly drop the facade of being human. No longer were they generals, chairmen, or prime ministers. They were butchers leading lambs to the slaughter under the guise of an emergency meeting to get everyone important in one place.

The sudden vacuum in power sent countries into anarchy as the structure of order was disassembled in one night. Some countries fell into martial law with an enemy no one could identify. Because of that everyone became the enemy. It was easy really. The arrogance of man is to simply make him believe he knows the enemy and he will justify the means to an end. All they needed to do was wait for humans to thin their own herd before dealing the final blow.

The fear of the unknown on what could be the cause and societal collapse drove many into a mass hysteria. Might made right across the land now and disorder reveled within the chaos.

Nobody welcomed the New Year with the hope they once had. Around fifty-one countries had fallen and another one ninety-six were barely holding on to some form of order. The rest were in the middle of it all. Billions of lives were lost. They then finally revealed themselves once humanity had no chance of regaining their footing. This faceless threat called themselves, โ€œVampiresโ€ the new rulers of this world.

The dominion of man was stolen by a Supernatural Apex Predator. Now they were the dominant species of the planet. They were faster, stronger, more agile, and could see in total darkness. An eerie mist would set in before they suddenly struck with fatal force. Moscow was the first city to fall. Then Paris. The City of Lights had gone dark permanently in whatโ€™s called โ€œThe Night that Consumed Parisโ€ and it marked the beginning of the end. Based on military coms from countries all around the world the cities fell in the order of New York, Chicago, London, Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Sydney. Itโ€™s heavily believed several more cities succumbed to the Vampires but this cannot be confirmed at this time. Nukes were launched in order to try and combat the hordes but the night stalkers had already taken control of more warheads than the humans had. Valiant and courageous heroes sacrificed their lives by detonating their own nukes they were hired to defend or firing upon their nationโ€™s storage. Some even forced the weapons of mass destruction into the upper stratospheres so then they wonโ€™t fall into the hands of the Vampires.

Still. It took less than a year till mankind was forced to retreat toward the equator. Where the sun-kissed the skies the most and served as a safe haven from the hellish fiends of the night who despised the glorious sun. Billions of people were misplaced. Resources were limited. Chaos ensued. But upon the ashes rose valiant leaders to rally the people. With spirit to one day take back their homelands and one day defeat the scourge which now plaques the corners of the globe.

In one priceless and precious moment humanity was brought together as one with a very important objective. This calamity inspired them to reclaim their home and bring peace to this blood stained world. A peace conceived with the idea of eradicating that which now preys upon them. Vampires. Former rivalries were set aside. The remaining world governments convened to form โ€œThe Republic of Humanityโ€. Their attention and weapons now aimed at a new target which threatened manโ€™s existence. But the only way to fight monsters is with monsters of their own.

IMG_3448.gif The โ€œ
Sanguisuga Mortis Agencyโ€ was created with the idea of adopting dhampirโ€™s (human annd vampire hybrids) and exceptional humans to specialize in the hunting, extermination, and complete eradication of the Vampire race. The agency is recognized by the Republic of Humanity (R.H) as its main defense force to attack and defend against threats pertaining to Vampires. The R.H pooled in their remaining resources to gain intel, dissect their targets to learn of any weaknesses, and train these hunters to make them eligible to be classified as a living weapon.

It was after a few years of this new normalcy that order began to settle and take root. Ideal? Hell no. Survivable? Thankfully yes.

Humanity slowly recovered from its population of two-billion and lived within the sunniest regions along the equator from all three remaining contents habitable for humans while the remaining four were territories of the Vampires. Forty years had past since that fateful day when the war started. The only saving grace being the sunlight which allowed humans a chance to escape and what now keeps them safe from extinctionโ€ฆuntil now.

Some time ago intel recovered footage and photos of a massive obelisk found in what once was the Soviet Union which blotted out the sun. Allowing vampires to stroll in the middle of the day without worry. They called it the โ€œNochony Obeliskโ€. It was so massive it reached and pierced into the heavens. Causing the sky to bruise and casting a perpetual shadow of necrotic tundora gray. As if all of the color was snuffed out and the power of the sun couldnโ€™t grant its radiating warmth and cleansing rays upon the wicked bloodsuckers below. S.M.A forces struggled with fighting the vampires once the sun could no longer keep the Vampires at bay. S.M.A forces no longer had time to mobilize, recover, or hold an advantage in battle.

Further efforts of recovering human territory were aimed onto other regions and reconquering the Soviet Union had been shelved along with dealing with the Nochony Obelisk until further notice. That is until reports of Vampires building another obelisk in Rome forced humans to face this life threatening dilemma. The pillar of ebony would blot out the nearby human settlements serving as S.M.A headquarters including what used to be Egypt, Israel, Turkey, and Greece. Efforts of mobilizing a special task force to infiltrate, report, and then execute were done. Forming one of the most skilled and dangerous division the S.M.A could conjure by choosing the best of the best for this mission. It just so happened a special dhampir made the cut and was reassigned to this special division.

IMG_3459.gif โ€œOne hundred-forty-sevenโ€ฆOne hundred-forty-eight,โ€ he calmly enunciated as if being punished in detention to count the tallies on a chalkboard. He cracked his fingers with each integer. โ€œOne hundred-forty-nine,โ€ he articulated peacefully before the sudden breaking of the truck jerked him onto his fellow passenger. โ€œGet off me!โ€ she screeched which sent the dhampirโ€™s ears ringing. He fixed himself accordingly as the crack of gunshots filled the air and the hiss of nightstalkers whispered past the outer metal shell. โ€œOne hundred and fifty,โ€ he hummed before he pressed his thumb against his ring finger and it cracked just as the fire fight ended outside.

โ€œยฟQue paso?โ€ another prisoner questioned with a gruffly voice before the sudden gust of fresh air hit the prisoners. โ€œHehehe, little monkeys ran away without their bounty,โ€ a wickedly venomous tone slipped past the lips of a sharp canine wielding and pale-looking man who stripped the prisoners of the bags over their heads. โ€œWho the hell are you?โ€ the vampire sitting across the dhampir snarled before the pale-one leaned in with a cocksure smile. โ€œYour savior of course, Iโ€™m Marcus. Weโ€™re in need of a big bad bodyguard and you lot fill the bill. So itโ€™s time forโ€ฆtryouts.โ€

The dhampir was practically thrown onto the floor to his knees as the vampires lined up the prisoners. He glanced to the right and easily identified these blood suckers. Serial killers with a long list of felonies. The one on the far end is called โ€œEl Matadorโ€. Likes to wear shiny clothes to blind his foes before he closes in on the kill. Calls it his suit of lights. Decorated in his victims shiny memorabilia. He blanketed all of Catalonia in fear before S.M.A was able to detain him. Next was the โ€œVenus Human Trapโ€. Like a flytrap but if it hunted bigger game like humans. Her beauty rivals her notoriety. She was said to have killed as many people as the Eiffel Tower is tall on the Night that Ate Paris where she remained until S.M.A came to France. Then you have โ€œHerculesโ€. Sucker is as big as a house and could bend steel by his smug look alone. Easy to see how he was able to keep Athens for almost three decades unrivaled. The rest were just as deadly and fierce. โ€œClean up the stragglers?โ€ he sighed knowing full well these werenโ€™t just stragglers Stella had locked him up with.

Marcus sauntered up to the dhampir with a clipboard in hand. He sifted through the pages and tapped his finger on it with a smile, โ€œThere you are, Mr. Seraph Sanguinex,โ€ the vampire announced. Seraphโ€™s head tilted, โ€œSo my name is Seraph?โ€ he committed to memory his new identityโ€™s name before paying attention to Marcus. โ€œA foreigner from the States known for dismantling S.M.A squadrons and being highly suspected in aiding the Presidentโ€™s assassination forty years ago,โ€ Marcusโ€™s eyes briefly widened before he glanced over to his fellow companions who either chuckled or were in shock. โ€œNo wonder why they wanted you in their head quarterโ€™s prison,โ€ Marcus bemused before flipping the page over to move onto the next candidate. Seraph furrowed his brow, โ€œGod damnit, Stella. You couldโ€™ve crafted a more believable backstory,โ€ he cursed at his superior within his mind. But she was smart. Less of a chance for them to poke holes in his story if they didnโ€™t know anyone who could verify it.

After their
savior had become well acquainted with them he lead the prisoners back into the, now abandoned, S.M.A high security penitentiary. They were lead into a dark room meant for solitary. It felt cramped with all six of them in their. โ€œIs anyone familiar with Kodoku?โ€ Marcus asked and the fellow vampires all looked at each other as if wondering what the hell he just said. โ€œWell, in Japan, when a sorcerer wants the strongest venom/poison and charm. He puts a bunch of venomous/poisonous insects in a jar and lets them kill one another. The surviving insectโ€™s venom/poison would be used to kill their target in a potion and the insect would be gifted to someone as a luck charm because they were the one who survived.โ€ Marcus explained this ancient tradition curtly.

โ€œWe found our insects and here is your venom,โ€ suddenly someone from behind him tossed a silver sword from the S.M.Aโ€™s armory inside of the cell. โ€œSix go in. One comes out. Weโ€™ll fetch you once it gets quiet. Good luck everyone,โ€ and with that the room was shut closed engulfing them in darkness. Floating glowing optics darted between each other as they looked at each other and contemplated on being the first to reach for the sword. Then the room came to life with a sudden burst of light. The vampires hissed and shielded their faces while others desperately reached for the sword.

IMG_3457.gif Seraph winced while hastily trying to adjust to the sudden light exposure. He was only half vampire so it didnโ€™t bother him as much. Still. He needed to win to conquer this first trail to succeed in his mission.

Marcus filed his nails while his feet were propped up on the desk. He hummed a classical tune while the screams and roars of Vampires echoed along the hallway. Loud thuds against the walls barely shook him or his companions. He lazily eavesdropped on who the other Vampires thought would win and even placed bets. He blowed against the freshly done nails just as his ear caught the void of silence from the hallway.

Marcus turned toward the cell down the hallway and lowered his legs. His chair swiveled as he leaned in to see if he heard anything else. But no more brawling. His boots clicked against the floor as he marched up to the solitary cell and turned off the bright blinding lights. He waited a moment longer before unlocking the door and slowly opening it. His head peeked inside and his eyes widened. He covered his mouth and gagged before moving out of the way. Seraph slowly sauntered his way out of the cell with a slight limp and blood dripping down his arm. The tip of the silver sword dragging on the floor behind him as his firm grip held onto the handle. His prison uniform tattered and stained with blood that wasnโ€™t completely his. His left eye was swollen but yet his scar still had him smiling. โ€œHereโ€™s your lucky charm,โ€ he said with a heavy breath before tossing the sword at the feet of Marcus with all five vampire skulls shish kebabed onto the silver sword.

Marcus blinked and recoiled from the morbid display of art. โ€œS-Seraph was it?โ€ he chirped after he managed to peel his scarlet eyes off the grotesque display of violence.

A few days had passed since Seraph was selected to be the special bodyguard for Koroleva. Why they would choose a highly dangerous individual without former ties of allegiance perplexed him the first day. Until further evaluation questions on how he viewed humans gave away their intentions. They want someone who wouldnโ€™t hesitate to kill the Queen. Itโ€™s hard to do that when youโ€™re not strong or have former ties with her. He was a puppet. A fall guy for the regime to blame when they themselves appointed him if she gets out of line with this โ€œHumans and Vampires living in harmonyโ€ idea. He almost had to keep on rereading that part of the intel when he got to it. How could such a bloodthirsty Queen change her mind in the past few years?

He didnโ€™t know nor did he care. He had his mission. Retrieve intel of the new obelisk and how to destroy it and then assassinate Koroleva afterward. He needed to protect the people that he loved at home. The ones who give him strength to get up in the morning. The ones who stitch his wounds after a mission. The ones he promised to protect until his last breath.

Thanks to his unique physiology he had healed nicely from his wounds. Seraph sat patiently outside of the current business residence belonging to Koroleva and her workers. She had worked all day and was finally free once nightfall hit. It was a stunning Italian apartment retrofitted to house the workers but also serve as a place of operations. The high floors offered a perfect view of the ever growing Obelisk sitting in the center of Rome. He didnโ€™t know if she also, temporarily, lived in these apartments or sought comfort somewhere else. Either way heโ€™ll have to protect her for the time being and he would find her humble abode soon enough.

IMG_3461.gif โ€œOne hundred-fifty-three,โ€ he snapped his finger while whispering the new tally. โ€œOne hundred-fifty-four,โ€ he hummed and just as the door handle to the apartment jiggled he managed to get to, โ€œOne hundred-fifty-five,โ€ and finish with a final crack of his fingers before being greeted by Marcus. โ€œSheโ€™s ready for you now, Seraph,โ€ he welcomed the dhampir in.

Seraphโ€™s boots clicked along the floor as he strolled into the apartment with a mean expression adorning his features as if he stood on business. His black tie matched his dark brown irises making it seem like he lacked a soul and a heart by the way he walked like a machine. As if moving through the apartment to find his target before moving onto the next Vampire on his list. His white button up shirt was unblemished unlike his face with only a pair of swords on his back obstructing a perfectly professional attire. A mix of business and bodyguard if you will. He always preferred swords and knives. Vampires were too fast for guns. Best to kill them by cutting them down by their weak points before going for the killing blow.

He finally found someone when he strolled into a room, โ€œExcuse me, do you know where Miss. Agafonov is?โ€ He inquired before his eyes glanced beside the vampire and slightly widened. It was her. Kira Agafonov. The one who sacked the USSR, paraded the streets in blood like it was Mardi Gras, and constructed an obelisk which blotted out the sun. Sheโ€ฆwas not who he was expecting.

Seraph looked around as if looking to find where she couldโ€™ve placed the rest of herself. Maybe Kiraโ€™s assistant had it on their persons? But they didnโ€™t either. Where was the ferociousness? The imposing demeanor. The aura that could leave a country in ruin. Seraphโ€™s soul sucking eyes fell back onto the assistant before looking back at Kira when he didnโ€™t find anything. His mean expression made it seem like he was disappointed. He could practically pick Kira up with one arm and she wasnโ€™t even close to eye level with him. Hell, was she even a Queen? More like a Princess. He looked a few years her senior. He huffed in a hushed exacerbated exhale before saying, โ€œIโ€™m Seraph Sanguinex,โ€ he slightly bowed before closing the distance and reaching to extend his hand to shake hers.

โ€œIโ€™m pleased to serve the mastermind behind the Nochony Obelisk. I heard it allows us Vampires to walk during the day. I havenโ€™t had the privilege of seeing it for myself. I can only imagine how liberating it feels to not fear the light. Along with how exciting it must be to hunt those wretched humans and ring them dry of their delicious scarlet.โ€ He supplied her with pleasantries while announcing his disdainful opinion of humans. Whether or not the intel held credibility would hinge on how she reacts. He would adjust accordingly. One thing was for certain though.

He was going to kill her.

"what in the motherland's name am I doing wrong..?" The lone figure thinks to herself, sighing deeply as she stares at her fancy ebony desk with a solemn and disappointed look.

This figure was none other than Kira Agafonov, the queen of Russia, one of the most respected vampires in the world and the queen of the motherland herself. She was currently wearing a short dark purple dress that was custom made, created by the finest tailors of Russia with the finest fabric she could access, and made to fit her fine figure just right until her presence alone screamed elegance, beauty, formality, and just a small hint of intimidation that was enough to lower anyone's guard but still make them a little uneasy at the same time.
However, Kira's beauty was not limited to her robes, for she herself was a very beautiful woman even by vampiric standards, her face was smooth and soft with piercing red eyes that could make even the toughest men blush, her long hair was seemingly flowing beautifully behind her all the time even without wind, and her body was sculptured so well that it seemed like she was capable of challenging even goddesses themselves. Her only short coming was her height, for she was a humble 5'3'', a height that often made her look less intimidating than she would like, although despite this, Kira knew how to turn this flaw into an advantage, for not looking intimidating often caused others to underestimate her and underestimating her was often a death sentence when it came to dealing with the Queen.

Unfortunately, right now was one of those moments when she wishes she was more intimidating, for without intimidation, she had to somehow find a way to get her kin to understand that killing all the humans was a terrible idea, and matter how much evidence she shows her kin, most of the vampires simply refused to even consider listening to her proposal of keeping humans alive.

"here I am, giving my people a strong city.. offering my kin salvation from the sun with the Nochony Obelisk.. and I have personally lead the front lines in the efforts to destroy the human threat.." she thought, her face grimacing while she leaned her head on one hand while she used her other hand to twirl around a glowing purple knife as a distraction, "yet.. despite all this.. everyone refuses to hear me out, to listen, to trust me.." she adds to her thoughts, her fist stopping the twirling of the knife to squeeze it as hard as she could, making it disappear in a mist of purple light soon after. "Is it so hard for people to grasp the fact that without humans, we will all die? Imbeciles! The topic is not even hard to understand, it is merely common sense! it is something we understood even before we took over!"

Kira clenches her fist, and then slams it on the desk in frustration before losing it and crying out.

"ะขะฐะบ ะฟะพั‡ะตะผัƒ ะถะต ะพะฝะธ ะฑัƒะฝั‚ัƒัŽั‚!? ะŸะžะงะ•ะœะฃ ะžะะ˜ ะ‘ะ ะžะกะะฎะข ะœะะ• ะ’ะซะ—ะžะ’!? ะœัƒะดะฐะบ! ะžะฝะธ ะฒัะต ะœัƒะดะฐะบ!"
"So why are they rebelling!? WHY ARE THEY CHALLENGING ME!? idiots! They are all idiots!"

Once her outburst ended, Kira snarls, rubs her temple to calm down, and then plops back onto her chair.

This chair was very comfortable and hand crafted with a golden accent, it was a chair gifted to her by the grateful citizens after she successfully helped build the first obelisk, it was a chair that often relaxed her by reminding her who she was fighting for, and to escape the world for just a moment.. although sadly.. this time the chair was not going to be enough to soothe her mind, for the same citizens that gifted this chair to her were likely planning how to eliminate her this very moment.

"The fact that we've reached the point where I need a fucking bodyguard speaks for itself.. Me... The Koroleva! The woman who took over Russia! The woman with over 400,000 kills to her credit!"

Kira mutters to herself before standing up, not being able to even stand the feeling of the chair any longer. Once up, she did a quick pat down to fix her dress, and then made her way over to the right side of her office where she kept her second object of comfort: The painting depicting her promotion to Marshal of the Soviet Union.

Ironically, Kira never really liked the painting itself due to it barely even looking like her, not to mention that the humans insisted that she cut her hair for it and then made her pose in a room for hours while wearing the tightest and most uncomfortable uniform she has ever worn and holding a pose that made her arms sore by the end. However, the painting still remained highly sentimental for Kira, since the honor and glory it represented was priceless to her, not to mention that it served as a reminder of how far she has come throughout her life, of how, despite Fate herself giving her a harsh start to life, she still managed to pull through and even saved an entire country on her own simply by playing her cards right.

The Marshal.jpg

As she kept staring at the painting, it quickly started to soothe her mind, and soon she started to forget her frustration temporarily while she reminisced about the past and went over all her memories of how she got here.

Those were all words that were told to Kira when she was a child, but while the outside may think these were words encouragement, the actuality was that these words were simply cruel reminders that the fate of their kin rested on Kira's shoulders, and that if she were to fail, then she will be the biggest disappointment in the entire world.

Kira never really enjoyed looking back at her childhood memories. After all, the days she was meant to spend playing with dolls and having tea parties with her dad were instead filled with harsh and strict military training or even brutal punishments if she dared not meet her parent's expectations. For most of her life, Kira always despised her parents for doing this, always hated them for ripping away her childhood and turning her into an emotionless and cold hearted tool for the vampires.. but alas.. she could not say that she did not understand why they did it, especially now that she was a queen and quickly came to learn that a civilization must use their resources as efficiently as possible to survive; and so, with how fast the humans were expanding, the sad reality was that the very moment Kira was born with the full moon gift was the moment Kira became a critical resource to the vampire's survival.
Besides, it's not as if all the training in vain. If anything the polar opposite was true, because, thanks to the many years of harsh routines that made actual army training look like a luxury retreat, Kira became a nearly unstoppable force even before she even joined the army.

At the age of 28, Kira was deemed ready for the next phase, and so she was sent out to join the red army. Once there, Kira passed military training so well that it surpassed all the expectations of her superiors, granting her instant respect as well as the rank of Serzhant even before she was sent out to the front lines.
During her first battle, their platoon assigned Leytenant just happened to die in the middle of a particularly chaotic and bloody defense mission, which is when Kira just happened to bravely take charge of the platoon herself and successfully lead the platoon to victory as they scared off all the attackers. This significant achievement granted Kira the promotion to Mladshiy Leytenant, which she used to very quickly prove the extent of her worth with exceptional leadership and fearlessness.

Kira kept this up for months until she got promoted to a full Leytenant, and then to Starshiy Leytenant a year later, and then to Kapitan another year later, and just continued to lead battles so efficiently that she rose all the way to General Armii after just 10 years of serving. However, this already unheard of achievement was nothing compared to her greatest military accomplishment.

Kira single handedly turned the tides in the Sovietโ€“Afghan War, a war where the soviets were losing so badly that it was even theorized that if they were to fail and lose this conflict, then the aftermath would have been so devastating to the people of the USSR that it would have likely lead to the downfall of the entire Soviet Union.
Despite the overwhelming odds, Kira used her soldiers, her resources, and all the morale she could muster to come up with a perfect plan of attack so precise, so ambitious, and so complex, that it made her men believe that the impossible was possible once more. Soon the death toll for the Soviets started to lower while the Afghanistans started to suffer great loses, soon the Soviet's started to gain critical territory, and soon the red army begun to recover from the hard blow and grow stronger than ever. All of this made victory guaranteed, especially with the fearlessness and unbreaking morale the soldiers obtained with Kira fighting alongside them, and also the convenience that critical Afghanistan targets were suddenly being found dead or gone missing without explanation.

This massive victory immediately restored the trust of the citizens for the government, it strengthened the military power by creating new fearless soldiers that struck fear to any who opposed them, and quickly lead to efforts that restabilized the country 's economy.

TheVictoryOfTheGeneral.jpg
"The general that saved the USSR" -Headline of Pravda, 1989
The achievement was so notable, that even the retired Generalissimo himself took note and awarded Kira with the highest military rank possible: The Marshal of the Soviet Union.
That day was the day where Kira felt the most pride she has ever felt in her life, although within that pride there was also a rather bittersweet feeling, since this was not only the day she achieved the impossible, but it was also the point of no return, and so she became painfully aware that she soon had to betray the soldiers that she just lead to an impossible victory.

Apart from Stalin's death in 1990 at the very old age of 111, nothing of note happened for the next 10 years, and Kira mainly spent this time studying the humans and seeing how they ran things in the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, rather than learn anything useful, Kira just became rather disappointed once she became aware of how bad things were in this society.

All the civilians were massively suppressed and given very little freedom, which created discontent and made Kira understand why she had to defend so many civil wars that seemingly kept popping up everywhere. The economy was constantly decreasing because innovation was severely monitored and slowed down by all the constant oversight. Worst of all, the only reason the government had any power to begin with was because they forced it with fear tactics such as using the dreaded gulags as motivation to keep people in check.
Kira was truly appalled by all this, though not because of the suffering it caused, but rather because of how inefficient this all was. The use of fear only made people submit temporarily, and it really was only a matter of time before enough people decided that they had enough and created a rebellion big enough to overthrow the government.
The more she learned about how things were ran here, the less bad she started to feel about the inevitable betrayal she was going to conduct soon, and she even started to wonder if maybe she was doing the USSR a favor.

It did not feel long before 1999 came about, and as soon as news about entire villages disappearing overnight started spreading around the news like wildfire, Kira knew it was not long before she had to do what she had to do. So, with an unusually heavy heart, Kira quietly started to fuel the paranoia of the people behind the scenes by being suspiciously secretive about the whole affair.
This fueling did wonders, and only 2 years later, the paranoia was so immense that even the president was starting to reach out to her because entire cities were falling apart due to mass hysteria. This paranoia brewed the perfect environment for Kira knew to put her final attack into action, and so, Kira dropped the act and traveled all the way over to the main naval base in the Kola Peninsula, which is where her old friend Kir, the chief of general staff, was currently overseeing the construction of more nuclear submarines in case things went more downhill than it already was.

Once at the site, Kira was very quickly granted a private conversation with the chief due to her status and past with Kir, and soon she found herself walking through two metal doors that lead underneath the harbor where Kir stood, staring at the sea waiting for her. Kira then wasted no time, and she quickly told Kir that they finally uncovered the unknown attackers,. She said that they were a group of incredibly organized extremists that wish to cause the downfall of society as a whole, and she explained that she was here because she received news that the enemy successfully infiltrated multiple nuclear warhead silos and were planning to manually set off multiple nuclear missiles to destroy critical cities of the USSR including Moscow.

Obviously these news shocked Kir, since he was well aware of how much damage the paranoia has caused and trusted Kira with his life, which is when Kira struck the jugular by saying that their only course of action was to activate their two Chegets and authorize a precise strike towards the compromised silos in order to save countless lives even if it meant losing a lot of land based nukes.
Kira's urgent tone, charisma, and close friendship of the chief left Kir no room for doubt, and so, trusting his long time friend and leader, Kir agreed to act immediately. They then opened up their Chegets, connected to the nuclear silos, and Kira told the chief which silos were compromised while she quietly set all the silos to target themselves and other important military structures that held supplies, weapons, nuclear submarines, tanks, airplanes, and troops.

Once it was ready, Kira stood up, saluted Kir, and then they both pressed the launch button at the same time, marking the moment where Kira threw away the lives of hundreds of comrades she fought alongside in war for what she believed was for the greater good.

The demise of the USSR.gif
Seconds after the nuclear missiles were launched, Kir obtained many sudden panicked calls from his contacts. They all stated that every single nuclear missiles has been launched, and after just a few seconds of discussing, it became very obvious to Kir that none of the silos were actually compromised, especially as every single call was cut off one by one as each of the missiles Kira launched reached that target.

What happened next was something that Kita was never going to forget, and despite Kir being just a human, the scene still haunted her to this day.

Kira could physically see Kir's relieved smile turn to sheer and utter betrayal as he started to put two and two together, as he started to realize that he must have been tricked, as he realized that he was tricked by the very person he thought would never do it. Truth was that Kira could not blame him, not even as he grabbed the shotgun he always carries with him on his back without warning, pointed it at Kira, and squeezed the trigger without hesitation while yelling accusations of treason at her.
However, the slug never scratched it's target, and instead it slammed against what looked to be some sort of semi transparent purple wall which stopped the slug in its tracks and caused it to slowly begin to fall onto the floor in what seemed like slow motion to the chief.

Being a well trained army general himself, Kir quickly tried to cock his shotgun and fire again, although before he could even pull the pump all the way back, before he could fathom how Kira was able to take the shot without even flinching, and before the crushed slug even landed onto the cold metal floor, Kir witnessed the glowing purple wall shrink into a single point above Kira's shoulder before it morphed into purple spike that shot out and embedded itself deep into his shoulder, causing the general to scream in pain before dropping the shotgun.

The spike then disappeared, the general then fell onto his knees, and then he looked up at Kira with anger, betrayal, and pure sadness oozing out of his eyes.

"ะšะธั€ะฐ... ะŸะพั‡ะตะผัƒ...?"
"Kira... why...?"

He then muttered, tears in his eyes as Kira slowly and solemnly walked up to the fallen soldier.

"ะœะฝะต ะพั‡ะตะฝัŒ ะถะฐะปัŒ, ะณะตะฝะตั€ะฐะป."
"I am sorry, General."

Kira responded with a hesitant tone and look as she unholstered her personal pistol and aimed it directly at her former friend's head.

The betrayal.gif
"If it means anything.. I promise with all my heart that it has been an honor to fight alongside you."

Kira adds, a single tear sliding down her face as she squeezes the trigger.

The rest of what happened is a blur, and all Kira remembered was that she soon found herself outside the base with both of the chegets on her arms, and walking away before the humans found the body just as a very thick fog started to surround the facility.

This whole event was the second hardest thing that Kira had to do in her life, because staring at Kir's eyes as he looked at her with so much confusion and sadness nearly broke her despite how cold and emotionless she usually is, and the truth was that she might have spared him at that very moment if she wasn't well aware that leaving him to face the other vampires was going to be far worse and more painful.

But still.. "koroleva?".. She often wondered if what she did was the right choice. "Koreleva".. Maybe she could have saved him? "Koroleva".. Maybe she could have hid him? "Korleva!" Maybe she could have kept him alive for- "KOROLEVA!?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kira snapped out of her trance, shaking her head quickly to re-orient herself before turning to see who was calling her only to see Marcus, a vampire she not-so-subtly hated due to him being in charge of her security within the construction site despite him clearly being very against her views.

"ะšะฐะบะพะณะพ ั‡ะตั€ั‚ะฐ ั‚ะต-- *ahem*.. Vat do you vant, Marcus? I am on break, bother someone else" She then responded with a very thick Russian accent and an even more annoyed tone that she did not bother to hide.

"Koroleva, we found the big scary bodyguard you wanted, are you ready to meet him?"

"Da, Da, vhatever, just go avay! I no want to deal with you right now" Kira then added, not really paying attention to what he had to say and very clearly just wanting for him to leave her be.

Once he finally left her alone in her office, Kira sighed, decided she needed to change perspective, and then moved over to the left side of her office, which is where there was a massive window that gave her a very good view of the construction site.

The monolith.png
Unfortunately, she never got the chance to go back into her thoughts, for before she could even begin to lose herself once more, the door swung open and in came a familiar face, though a face she welcomed much more than the face of Marcus.
Roman Dmitriy, a black haired man measuring around 5'10'', he was currently holding a tablet and wearing his usual elegant red vest suit with a large fur coat wrapped around his shoulders that kept him warm and also concealed a pistol that he always carried with him. Roman was Kira's personal and most loyal assistant who has been by her side since she became queen of the North. If there was anybody she felt she was close enough to be friends with, it would have to be Roman, although even he was not really a friend, for ever since she had to feel the deep pain of killing General Kir, Kira refused to allow herself to get close to anybody else ever again in hopes to never feel that pain again.

Roman Dmitry.jpg

As he enter Kira's office, Roman smiled warmly at her as he approached. She always liked his smile, he had a very soothing smile, like one you would expect to see on the face of a caring mother trying to calm down her child after a bad nightmare.

"ะŸั€ะธะฒะตั‚, ะšะธั€ะฐ, ะบะฐะบ ั‚ั‹ ะดะตั€ะถะธัˆัŒัั?"
"Hi Kira, how are you holding up?"

"ะ, ั‚ะพะฒะฐั€ะธั‰ ะ ะพะผะฐะฝ, ั ะฒ ะฟะพั€ัะดะบะต, ัะฟะฐัะธะฑะพ. ะะฐะดะตัŽััŒ, ั‚ั‹ ะฟั€ะธะฝะตั ั…ะพั€ะพัˆะธะต ะฝะพะฒะพัั‚ะธ."
"Ah, comrade Roman, I'm fine, thank you. I hope you bring good news."

"I wish it were so, Commander, but no, according to intelligence, a new uprising is brewing.."

"ะ‘ะปัั‚ัŒ.. ะฅะพั€ะพัˆะพ... ะณะดะต ัั‚ะพ ะฟั€ะพะธะทะพัˆะปะพ ะฝะฐ ัั‚ะพั‚ ั€ะฐะท?"
"Fuck.. Okay.. where did it happen this time?"

Roman proceeds to explain the new rebellious group, their threat level, and it's origins, though at this point Kira was no longer paying attention, since she has faced so many uprising by now that they all felt the same to her.

Thinking about it, the whole situation was quite ironic. Kira spent years judging the Soviets for how many revolutions they had to face thanks to their poor management of civilians, yet now that she was a leader herself, she too has to deal with the same number of rebellions every day even though she has made sure to treat her civilians better; the situation only became more ironic when one considers that her people were rebelling because Kira was trying to save them from themselves.

As Roman went on and on, Kira eventually had enough, and so, with a dismissive wave, she shook her head and motioned for him to stop.

"ะ”ะฐ, ะดะฐ, ั ะฟะพะฝัะป, ะฟั€ะพัั‚ะพ ั€ะฐะทะฒะตั€ะฝะธั‚ะต ะฒะพะนัะบะฐ AR."
"Yeah yeah I get it, just deploy the AR troops."

She then muttered, too distracted by the disappointing news to notice her doors creaking open one final time and allowing a rather intimidating man to enter.

"ะ’ั‹ ะทะฝะฐะตั‚ะต, ะบะฐะบ ัั‚ะพ ัะดะตะปะฐั‚ัŒ: ะพะบั€ัƒะถะธั‚ัŒ ะธั…, ะพั‚ั€ะตะทะฐั‚ัŒ ะธะผ ัะฝะฐะฑะถะตะฝะธะต, ั€ะฐะทั€ัƒัˆะธั‚ัŒ ะธั… ะผะพั€ะฐ-" "Excuse me"
"You know how to do it: surround them, cut off their supplies, destroy their mo-."

The interruption startled Kira since she ignored Marcus earlier and was therefore not expecting anyone to come into her office while she was talking to Roman. However, Kira recovered very quickly and did not allow the man to realize that he nearly made her jump, and as she turned to face him, what he ended up asking managed to amuse her quite a bit, since it was not every day that a vampire did not immediately recognized her.

"You are speaking to her, comrade" She then answered the man, her tone serious, like a tone one would expect from a hardened military general, "Vhat can I help you vith? Did rebels attack construction site again? Vorry not, I am taking care of it." She added, thinking that he must be some sort of new hire from the security team guarding the construction site based on his scarred face, strong built, and the pair of swords peeking out from behind him.

Once the man realized who she was, Kira could not help but smirk with her eyes as she noticed that the man looked visibly disappointed by her appearance. Being underestimated like this was something that Kira was more than used to by now, though it never failed to make her smile, for she always believed that being underestimated was a very powerful tool and much more preferable than being overestimated.
Sadly, the amusement did not last long, and as the man introduced himself and then not-so-subtly admitted to hating humans seconds after his introduction, she visibly frowned and instantaneously started to get an idea of who this man was based on the human hate alone.

Kira then sighed, lowered her head, cursed under her breath, and then turned to Roman to confirm what she already knew.

"ะ ะพะผะฐะฝ... ะฟะพะถะฐะปัƒะนัั‚ะฐ, ัะบะฐะถะธ ะผะฝะต, ั‡ั‚ะพ ัั‚ะพั‚ ะธะดะธะพั‚ ะฝะต ั‚ะพั‚ ั‚ะตะปะพั…ั€ะฐะฝะธั‚ะตะปัŒ, ะพ ะบะพั‚ะพั€ะพะผ ั ะฟั€ะพัะธะป..."
"Roman... please tell me this idiot isn't the bodyguard I asked for..."

Roman quickly pulled his tablet up, tapped it a couple of times, and then looked up at the man who called himself Seraph before looking back down and nodding.

"ะ”ะฐ, ะฑะพัŽััŒ, ัั‚ะพ ะพะฝ."
Yes, I'm afraid it is him."

"ะ’ั‹.. ะฑะปัะดัŒ ะธะทะดะตะฒะฐะตั‚ะตััŒ???"
"Are you.. FUCKING kidding me???"

Kira exclaims before turning to Roman with a very pissed off look.

"I specifically asked for a bodyguard from the motherland! This bastard doesn't even look like he can speak Russian! This asshole Marcus is more incompetent than a goat"

"I'm so sorry, Kira, but you know we already have problems with the people... if we refuse Marcus again, it will only cause more uprisings."

This reminder caused Kira to grit her teeth, since she knew he was right. Marcus held a lot of power over her since he was personally assigned by the people of Egypt to her, and the last time she denied a request from him, he decided to go very public about it and accused Kira of being a tyrant, which then caused her more than a few headaches in damage control.

"That damn Marcus... he's not even trying to be subtle! That dumb (particularly nasty Russian insult) just sent me an assassin disguised as a bodyguard."

Kira mutters to herself while taking a deep breath out of frustration before turning back to Seraph.

"Alyright, you big oaf, listen to me now!" She then barked at him with the wrath of a commander, "I no know what Marcus tell you, but I not stupid, comrade... I know why you here... Either you are well-trained assassin waiting for Marcus' signal to take me out, or you just some crazed blood-thirsty psychopath that the idiot took out of human prison to pass off as proper bodyguard, is not that right?"

However, before Seraph could even begin to answer, Kira waved him off and continued, "Shut it, I care little which one it is.. fact is zat if I cannot trust you, then I no let you be part of my crew.. let alone be one responsible to watch my back.. capisce?" Kira then said firmly, positioning herself in a straight posture with eyes that could kill, which finally released the intimidating aura that Seraph was looking for. The aura was almost surreal coming from such a small and weak-looking frame, it almost felt like staring at the eyes of a very angry bear about to charge at you, and it could send chills through even the most jaded person. This was very clearly a message, a message that screamed to Seraph to watch his step, that she wasn't just a target, rather that she was a force to be reckoned with.

"Vith dat being said... Ve do not hate on humans here... Ve are not like Marcus, Comrade." She then says, her posture relaxing a little bit once she was sure her message got through. "Unlike Marcus, I am fighting to keep humans alive, da, because harsh truth is: without humans, we cannot survive as species, you understand zat?" She continues, studying Seraph's eyes to see if he could be shaped to be useful or if he was going to be a problem. "So, truth is.. I no care how much you hate humans, I no care how bad you want to wipe them off face of Earth, nyet! I no care what Marcus told you.. what I care about is.. are you willing to fight dis battle with me? Or you going to fight against me, huh?"

Upon finishing her speech, Kira stared deeply onto Seraph's eyes without even a smidge of fear, studying him, ready to catch any lies that he throws her way.. after all.. she did not care if she had to dispose of him, she did not care if doing so was going to get more people against her by denying Marcus again, she had to do what was right.

She had to fight for the survival of their species.

Facts with Fate!

Full moon vampires are incredibly rare, for vampires are normally genetically prevented from ever being born on the night with the most light! This means that being born during a full moon is only possible thanks to a very rare DNA mutation!
This mutation also allows full moon vampires to be a bit more tolerant towards sunlight, which lets them tolerate bright lights more, and even lets them walk on broad daylight as long as they have very strong sunblock on their skin, something that is unheard of for the rest of the vampires.

See you next episode for more facts!

"What did she call me?โ€ he thought while his hand fell back to his side. His scar betrayed him and portrayed a naive and jovial pleasure to meet her while the other half of his face was a chastising scowl directed to Kira. He was wasting his time on a target he could kill in his sleep by waiting to learn her secrets. Seraphโ€™s soulless irises were a suffocating black hole and would only get her lost if she looked too deeply into them as if he was devoid of thought or even a soul. Making it almost impossible to figure out what he was thinking. He was the physical embodiment of a comedy & tragedy mask. An enigmatic wild card for her to find out which face was the real him and whether or not she should be concerned of his presence.

โ€œWait. Rebels are attacking the construction site, again?โ€ he noted while Kira continued to curse at Marcus. He crossed his arms and patiently waited while the queen and her assistant continued speaking in their slavic tongue. His devoid optics wandered to the side and landed upon an object of comfort. The painting of a vampiress resembling the queen. He glanced at the both of them before he slowly sauntered over to the painting.

The painting coaxed his thoughts into revisiting Korelevaโ€™s file. โ€œOh, thatโ€™s right. I forgot. She was a military leader who doomed the USSR after killing Kir and launching the silos,โ€ he recalled. His mind then wandered onto investigating where this fearsome reputation of hers stemmed from. Was this legendary status of Kiraโ€™s conceived from tactical and strategic leadership skills that lead to toppling an empire? Perhaps she actually is a formidable opponent in battle? Or maybe a mix of bothโ€ฆ

Seraph jumped when Kira yelled for his attention and yanked him right out of his deep thoughts. He swiveled on his heel to face her before calmly taking each step to get closer to her. The desk remained as the only barrier preventing him from reaching Kira for himself and snapping neck like a twig. But thatโ€™ll be too soon. He needed her alive-for now. He stood at attention as she continued to bark off words and reminded him of his SMA captain.

Then Kira suddenly called him out for the rat he was and dared him to say otherwise.

Seraphโ€™s lips remained sealed at first and he simply slightly tilted his head like a dog wondering what new command his master asked him to fulfill. His frown and furrowed brow exuded his jadedness to life while this pint-sized vampire yelled at someone who was well above her weight class. He took a breath and very briefly glanced to the side as he tried to find the words to his excuse before she shot any chance of him speaking down.

Then it hit him. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. His chest tightened. An irritable pinch prickling his skin tried to wake him up from this nightmare. His soulless irises briefly regained a spark of spirit to make room for fear. His eyes widened making his black hole pupils look like tiny dots. His hands instinctively balled into fists and it took every ounce of his will power to not move a muscle. He had only felt this feeling a handful of times. Pure primal trepidation. Reserved for facing S-Class vampires or his human instructor when he no longer was holding back.

Seraph swallowed what little saliva remained while his mouth turned as moist as sandpaper. Before him no longer stood a beautiful young lady who he dwarfed in all aspects. She was a force of nature. No. A force of terror. The aura she radiated infected him with a hysterical amount of dread to be (unfortunately) within her eyesight.

His clenched jaw ever so slightly loosened as she expressed her interest in keeping the humans alive. Her logical reasoning brought him back to a more sound mind than of one set in his primal instinct to either unsheathe his blades or run like hell. โ€œI understand,โ€ he sighed as if relieved he regained control over his body.

Kiraโ€™s piercing red eyes assessed him to see if she could find any use of Seraph. She would find the deep and empty abyss once again shrouding his irises in darkness. Her imposing inquisition as to the real disposition of Seraph was the final straw. Seraph already compromised his foundation with the queen. He would start over before the cement dried. He hastily switched his strategy and pinpointed a particular weak point. Her strange affinity for humans mixed with fear of a potential usurping of her throne hinted at by her murmuring of a revolt at her worksite she planned to take care of. After careful reconsideration he leapt at his new plan.

His mask slipped revealing a glimpse of his true self. She managed to crack his stoic exterior and his lips pursed into a soft smile, โ€œYou passed,โ€ he declared while his two pointer fingers directed their attention to her. It was like Seraph was possessed by an animated spirit who puppeteered his facial features to contort into a friendly demeanor, and radiate a beaming jesting energy one could never imagine from the first impression of his scowling deadman stare. Perhaps a side of him few even knew could exist.

He spun her question to bear arms with or against her by declaring the queen had actually passed his test and was now worthy of his protection. โ€œI donโ€™t really hate humans. Iโ€™m actually a dhampir. So my mother side is my human half, but I donโ€™t remember her much,โ€ he sincerely disclosed. A hint of truth would be found beneath the mist of his bottomless eyes. He swiftly shifted his stance after antagonizing the humans clearly backfiring on him. Heโ€™d see it best to adhere to what it said on her file for it bore authenticity beyond his experience and prejudice of the blood fiends.

โ€œI was testing you to see if the rumors were true. I heard about you in prison. I wanted to see your conviction for myself,โ€œ he admitted with a mischevious grin before his lips slightly faltered. โ€œMy father raised me to be a killerโ€ฆโ€ he trailed off before looking at the palm of his hands as if the blood of the innocent stained them.

Just when Kira thought she had him figured out he switched to his unblemished side representing the mask of tragedy. His sunken frown returned, โ€œI killed a lot of people. Good people. I thought I was making him proud, but he saw me as a killing machine to be used in war,โ€ he lamented with an exacerbated sigh from his past actions. He covered his face with his hands as if embarrassed to be seen by the world.

โ€œBut redemption can be found in the strangest of places,โ€ he admitted before he looked back at her. โ€œI regret what Iโ€™ve done. I wish to atone by protecting a leader whose vision I believe in. I didnโ€™t think I belonged anywhere. Until I heard about your ambition. Then I thought maybe thereโ€™s some place for me after all. I come from both worlds. So why not make a home that unites them?โ€ he expressed his reason for him to become her bodyguard firmly and simply.

He then walked right up to her desk and slammed his hands onto the mahogany before leaning forward. His arms acted as pillars of strength to support his weight and resolve. โ€œUnfortunately there are bad people who want to stop your dreams. I will protect you from them and make sure nothing happens to you. The only way Iโ€™ll let them pass is if Iโ€™m already dead,โ€ for a moment his eyes shimmered as if a spark of truth beamed to the horizon like a light house in a pitch black night. That was the truth. He needed her alive long enough to find out about the Nochony Obelisk.

โ€œI have the training and experience, and I donโ€™t give a damn for Marcus or vampires like him. Iโ€™m an outsider but that works for you because you donโ€™t know who you can trust that doesnโ€™t want you killed from here,โ€ he wagered his protection being far superior than what she could find in the motherland in hopes to tempt her into accepting his employment.

โ€œSo, what do you say? โ€ he smirked.

โ€œWill you give this idiot who followed a goat a chance?โ€

Just when she thought she cracked the code she was ensnared in a new riddle. The man from two worlds practically spun a web of lies laced with truth which would require time to unravel and see which thread was which. But by the time she found out he would already be finished with his mission. Who better than a bodyguard who believes in your goals and even regrets hurting innocent humans? Especially one who needs her alive long enough for his true mission.

As soon as Seraph declared that he understood, Kira nodded, stood up straight, and was just about to move on to the next matter of business before Seraph decided to continue this conversation by declaring quite boldly that she passed his test. This, naturally, caught the queen completely off guard, causing her to raise an eyebrow, turn back towards Seraph, and give him a look that very clearly questioned his sanity as he then decided to reveal his supposed origins.

As he spoke, Kira kept her eyebrow raised and did not say a word nor did she offer even a look of compassion. In fact, a lot like Seraph did during her own speech, she did not show much emotion through her face at all, and instead she just kept a serious yet rather tired face as she quietly listened to his sob story. There was only two exceptions when Kira did show a bit of interest though, and that was when he mentioned being from prison, and at the very end when he revealed that he did actually speak Russian after all.

"Interestin'.." Kira then muttered with a fascinated tone, "you have quite a good way with words, comrade. I will give you dat." She then added, though her tone sounded anything but impressed, and rather it sounded more as if she was subtly calling him out.

However, she did not linger on this, and instead she just quickly moved on before he could even react let alone respond. "Tell me, what is your prefered lunguage?" Kira then asked which then lead Seraph to state that his preferred language was English.

Kira then smiles and chuckles slightly, "Figures, your Russian no sound very fluent" She then said in an almost teasing tone, "Ah, but I suppose it is rich, yes? Coming from me, of course. I am knowing my English needs much work, da?"

Kira then chuckled for a moment, but then turned serious. Something that was actually quite jarring to see, for one second she almost felt playful, friendly, and even approachable, but then she immediately went back to a serious scowl that could turn water into ice.

"Anyway, we go back to business, da? I admit, I am very fascinated by your.. supposed.. backstory, very interesting! And it is also quite bold of you to reveal you are dhampir, yes, considering how... controversial they can be, nyet?" Kira then goes on, her eyes wandered around the room with quite obvious disinterest and then sighed, "Ah, but of course, all zis is just a story...."

"And vell.. how English say.. words is just words" She then finally stated firmly, "Do not get me wrong, I honored that I pass your test... but you, my friend, are far, far from passing mine, nyet!" She says before shaking her head and taking her phone out, which she then proceeded to use to text an unknown individual.

"Nyet, nyet, actions speak much louder than words, comrade.." Kira then states very firmly before motioning Roman to come closer. "So... here is vat will happen, comrade" She then says as she takes Roman's tablet and starts to scroll through it. "Make no mistake, I wish to sending you back to where you come from instead of accepting you.. but.. I unfortunately have no choice but to take you as my bodyguard at the moment"

Kira then turned her head slightly to look at him, and while only a single eye was visible towards Seraph, the eye still shot him with a piercing glare with a look that could kill. "Therefore... I expect you to prove to me that I am wrong to.. how you say.. to think like this! I expect you to exceed my expectations! You must make me regret ever wanting to send you back to rot in vhatever prison you got dragged out from" She then said very firmly, her tone harsh and unfriendly while her cold and murderous red eye remained glued to Seraph's void-like irises.

"Do I make myself clear?" She then asked, her gaze never leaving him, which eliminated any doubt of what would happen if Seraph was to fail or deny understanding.

Upon hearing his confirmation, Kira turned back to look out the window, clearly in no mood to keep up the conversation.

"Very good, now sit tight, da? I must discuss few things with Roman, we will talk more after" She then said calmly before turning towards Rowan and bringing her attention back down to the tablet. Kira then completely ignored Seraph, and instead she just spoke to Roman in Russian about the state of the construction site and what her plan was going to be for dealing with the rebels that were clearly causing mayhem.

It was all quite boring and nothing Seraph would be interested in listening to, although something that was worth noting for any particularly perspective person was that Kira had her back completely turned towards him, which was very odd behavior considering how much suspicion she had over him being a potential assassin or unstable criminal. Of course, this could have been done on purpose as a statement of how confident she was over her own abilities, but regardless.. it did feel quite reckless.

Suddenly, just as things were beginning to quite down, a sound would be heard. The sound was very very faint, so faint in fact, that Seraph was only really able to hear it because he was not part of the conversation nor distracted by it.

The sound was a step, and if Seraph was to follow it, he would come to realize that the door leading out of her office was open, and in it's gape stood none other than Marcus.

He was still wearing what Seraph saw him wear moments earlier, although he did have a rather concerning look on his face, a look that just screamed anger, as if he just arrived here moments after hearing the most terrible news imaginable.
Marcus did glance towards Seraph upon being noticed, although it was very brief, and his eyes quickly stared daggers towards the Koroleva herself. His eyes were filled with hatred, and it took no genius to realize that Kira did something to piss him off, thought it was impossible to tell what this was.

Quietly, the vampire motioned for Seraph to stay quiet, and then he pointed towards Kira before moving his hand back up and mimicking the motion of slicing his own neck. All the while Kira remained none the wiser, and it was very easy to tell that she was far too into the conversation with Roman to notice that her life was in danger.

Regardless of Seraph's first impression, Marcus would slowly reach behind him, and then pulled his hand back to his front revealing that he now had a pistol..

Marcus then pointed the handgun directly towards Kira's heart.

Facts with Fate!

Vampires do not actually need that much blood to survive! In fact, they only need about 4 ounces every day!
This makes sense in an evolutionary point of view, since vampires evolved not to hunt Humans, but rather to live comfortably amongst them. However, just like humans when it comes to food, "overeating" feels good to them, and this, added with the hate they felt of being forced to live in the shadows for more than a millennia, meant modern vampires currently have no issue draining a human dry until they die.
Of course, just like humans when it comes to hunting creatures to extinction, this may have massive consequences for the survival of vampires if it is not regulated.

See you next episode for more lore facts!

"English,โ€ he curtly expressed in a calm tone. His sunken orbs and scowling gaze took after what had been implanted in him for decades. Restraint. A measure or condition to keep someone or something under control. A word instilled in him from discipline and practice. The roots of restraint wrapped around his core until his stoic expression manifested as an agent of the word itself.

Seraph rose from the table and regained his upright posture before his arms crossed. He flashed a slightly vexing glare as she found time to tease him about his Russian when she in fact couldnโ€™t speak English without her accent plaguing each word. She mustโ€™ve picked up on his shift in demeanor and admitted her own faults, but not to be humble. No. For her amusement. Especially when she asked such an obvious question, โ€œDa,โ€ he uttered with a cold tone as to not humor her further.

Koreleva expressed a sham of sympathy with his sob story. It was strictly professional courtesy as to not sully her royal reputation with rumors of callousness to her bodyguard. But he could cut through the corporate bullshit. She couldnโ€™t give less of a damn. Seraph fidgeted with his fingers out of sight from her while his wingspan was folded. It was a risky game he was playing, but a risk he was willing to make.

She continued on by revealing Seraph didnโ€™t pass her test yet. Seraph cocked an eyebrow before his dark chocolate optics focused on her phone. He couldnโ€™t see what was on it. Only her fingers tapping away on the device. He briefly glanced at the tinted window, but his efforts to see what was in the reflection were in vain when she shut the phone off and went on to talk about how she wished to return Seraph from whence he came from like a bad white elephant gift.

Seraph clenched his fists, โ€œWhat the hell is it going to take to get it through your thick skull that people want you dead and someone with no strings to those people is willing to help you because of his dual lineage?โ€ he huffed an annoyed sigh. This mustโ€™ve incidentally summoned her ire. Kiraโ€™s blood red eyes were on him like a hawk before she ordered his acknowledgment to her command.

The half-breed met her true self a few moments ago. She liked to play poker and not reveal her true strength. Maybe thatโ€™s why many fell to her. Appearances can be deceiving. So as his heart drummed in his chest and his tongue became caught in his throat. He steadied his resolve by clenching both of his fists and taking a silent deep breath before simply saying, โ€œCrystal.โ€

Once Kira was pleased with her well mannered mutt she didnโ€™t ask for. She gave him the cold shoulder and turned her attention to the tinted window. The tension in his chest fell off like weights and he no longer felt restrained against his will. Restrainedโ€ฆno. More like petrified.

Kira told Seraph to wait before continuing to speak to Roman about the construction of the Obelisk. Seraph feigned disinterest and turned to face the painting again. But in reality he was angling his ear to be in the prime position to try and intercept any vital details he could catch about the Nochony Obelisk. Butโ€ฆhe couldnโ€™t hear much. His Russian wasnโ€™t fluent especially for the specific vampiric & construction terms.

He sighed when his efforts at espionage were bearing little to no fruit. He rubbed his temples before hiding his face, โ€œWhat the hell am I doing here?โ€ he mumbled in a whisper before his hand massaged his face as if debating his life choices. He did this while walking to the far side of the room to sit on the comfy red leather sofa. His hand fell from his face and he glanced over to Koreleva. His unamused gaze then glanced to the side before doing a double take.

โ€œWait a secโ€ฆโ€ he thought before realizing her back was completely turned towards him. Did she really think so little of him that she didnโ€™t need to pay attention to someone whoโ€™s literally known for killing dangerous people?

An unsettling feeling started to sizzle within his stomach. Something wasnโ€™t rightโ€ฆ

Then footsteps caught his attention. He turned his head to the doorframe and saw Marcus there. He tilted his head and slightly narrowed his eyes. Marcus looked to be on a warpath. The object of his attention being Koreleva. What possessed him with such malice? Seraph didnโ€™t know and was only non-verbally instructed to keep quiet before the vampire signaled his intent to kill Kira. Seraphโ€™s eyes widened. โ€œYou canโ€™t be serious,โ€ he thought before remaining silent.

Marcus pressed further and unveiled his weapon of choice. A revolver. โ€œOhโ€ฆno-youโ€™re just stupid,โ€ he thought before his worry dissipated. He knew full well Kira could probably dodge the bullets as soon as she heard the gun. Thatโ€™s the problem with them. Guns howl like thunder except at least lighting strikes first before announcing who it targeted. But wait. An assassination attempt before his very eyes? This would interfere with his mission. If he did nothing he could be pinned as a coconspirator. All because of Marcusโ€™s lack of restraint to think critically. He looked at Marcus then to Koreleva and Roman. Then he had an idea.

His hand gripped onto the cloth sitting atop of the wooden table next to him.

Marcus had Koreleva in his sights. His aim sought her heart and his pointer pressed against the trigger. Kira was a mere four pounds of pressure away from hearing the howl of a pistol before his hand was suddenly pierced by something fast and sharp. A knife lodged itself within his hand. Before he could even react the fangs of two more knives severed his achilles tendons and buried themselves deep into his flesh. The venom within these silver fangs slowly seeped into his bloodstream making his legs feel like jelly and his hand go numb. In a matter of seconds Marcus found it difficult to stand so he fell to his knees. The pain was only for a brief moment before he couldnโ€™t feel his appendages. Seraph silenced him with a cloth forced into the vampireโ€™s mouth before he could mumble anything.

ezgif-42b371e9af98f9.gif
Seraph unsheathed his silver sword and swiftly sliced off Marcusโ€™s hand. Marcus couldnโ€™t cry out to the heavens which because he was muffled by Seraph. Forcing Marcus to bottle up the pain by pressing his hand against the vampireโ€™s mouth. Seraphโ€™s gaze fell to the oblivious two before he caught the gun midair by kicking it up to his feet once his sword was sheathed. With one hand pressed against Marcusโ€™s mouth and the other tossing aside the latterโ€™s hand from the weapon. Seraph pressed on the cylinder release and flicked the revolver open so then the chamber could reveal its contents to him.

Yep looked like live ammo. Seraph narrowed his eyes to Marcus before standing in front of him and squatting to be at eye level. He loaded the chamber and pressed the gun at the vampireโ€™s head, โ€œWho the hell set you up to this? What game are you-โ€œ then it finally hit him, โ€œ-playingโ€ฆโ€ he trailed off as his eyes widened. He removed his hand from Marcusโ€™s lips before the assassin glanced over to Koreleva and Roman.

Her lax attempt on keeping tabs on Seraph. A whimsical weapon of choice known to be ineffective to vampires. Her aforementioned test. She was toying with him. Maybe setting him up for failure. If he failed he also fails his mission and possibly canโ€™t go home to her. The thought alone stirred his own fury and caused his blood to boil. He stared daggers at the queen.

Fuck restraint.

Seraph aimed the gun at Koreleva and pulled the trigger. The gun jerked his hand back as the force of the hammer slamming against the butt of the bullet and igniting the gun powder sent the tiny piece of metal flying at incredible speed and right to her head. But the closer it got the easier it was to see how terrible of a shot it was. Still. It was close. The tips of Kira's hair were shaved off as the bullet whizzed past her head and shattered the tinted window she stood in front of. The true target Seraph aimed for.

The glass fell like a house of cards falling stories below and bringing in a gust of fresh air along with very premature solar rays insignificant to vampires of any creed due to the sunsetting. Marcus was tossed over the desk and to Koreleva's feet. Black boots followed once Seraph jumped off her desk. Seraph hoisted Marcus up to his feet and made sure Marcus's lazy legs were pressed against the outside of the window seal and forced to stay locked straight before tossing him out the window.

Marcus was jerked back to reality. Seraph was the anchor keeping Marcus aboard this high rise by using the vampire's tie as the final tether left from preventing a long fall to a painful death. Marcus spot out the cloth to possibly start cursing derogatory words to the dhampir of which Seraph unsheathed his other saber and pressed it into the mouth of Marcus, โ€œShhhhhโ€ฆthe grown ups are talking,โ€ he shushed any incessant babble of a insolent traitor.

Seraphโ€™s black holes fell back to the queen and attempted to siphon off an answer with their intense pull, โ€œDo you wanna explain why I just found him trying to kill you in such a buffoonish manner while you had your back turned oblivious to EVERYTHING? Or should I just pass this test and let him fall?โ€ he said before Seraphโ€™s grip very briefly loosened sending Marcus to fall back.

โ€œMy grip is getting tired-so make it quick,โ€ he said with little restraint in his words or actions. Seraph would need more time to acclimate restraint and let it sink its roots deeper. Because sometimes his temper got the best of him and made him forget the definition to the word.

The SMA created a highly specialized neurotoxin mixed from various venomous & poisonous species from around the world making the ingredients very malleable no matter which part of the globe youโ€™re on with some degree in variation of efficiency thatโ€™s minuscule at best. Itโ€™s called V.E.N.M which stands for โ€œVampiric Etiolated Numbing Mechanismโ€. But most people call it โ€œVenomโ€. The silver inhibits and weakens the vampireโ€™s physiology because of itโ€™s antibacterial properties which allows the toxin to debilitate the targetโ€™s nearby organs and body parts. The toxin only works at (and near) the woundโ€™s location since vampires are able to quickly metabolize toxins because of their fast metabolisms/healing.

Only some hunters use Venom because itโ€™s a double edged sword. The toxin has to be so powerful for vampires that it can kill a human if not given immediate medical attention. Seraph is only half human so he finds the use of the toxin outweighing the cost. Itโ€™s odorless and transparent so the fear of an SMA wielding Venom is ever present amongst vampires. A target sometimes doesnโ€™t even know theyโ€™re affected because the toxin numbs all feeling after the weapon penetrates the skin.

The toxin wears off after some time and varies depending on how much dosage the target received, if the wound is still affected by silver, and how strong the vampire is.

With one hand pressed against Marcus's mouth and the other tossing aside the latter's hand from the weapon. Seraph pressed on the cylinder release and flicked the revolver open so then the chamber could reveal its contents to him.

Yep looked like live ammo. Seraph narrowed his eyes to Marcus before standing in front of him and squatting to be at eye level. He loaded the chamber and pressed the gun at the vampire's head, "Who the hell set you up to this? What game are you-" then it finally hit him, "-playingโ€ฆ" he trailed off as his eyes widened. He removed his hand from Marcus's lips before the assassin glanced over to Koreleva and Roman.

Her lax attempt on keeping tabs on Seraph. A whimsical weapon of choice known to be ineffective to vampires. Her aforementioned test. She was toying with him. Maybe setting him up for failure. If he failed he also fails his mission and possibly can't go home to her.

Marcus yelled in distress as he was tossed over the desk and to Koreleva's feet. Black boots followed once Seraph jumped off her desk. Seraph hoisted Marcus up to his feet and made sure Marcus's lazy legs were pressed against the outside of the window seal and forced to stay locked straight before tossing him out the window.

Marcus howled in terror before his tie jerked him back to reality. Seraph was the anchor keeping Marcus aboard this high rise by using the vampire's tie as the final tether left from preventing a long fall to a painful death. Marcus waisted no time to curse derogatory words to the dhampir of which Seraph unsheathed his other saber and pressed it into the mouth of Marcus, "Shhhhhโ€ฆthe grown ups are talking," he shushed the incessant babble of a insolent traitor.

Seraph's black holes fell back to the queen and attempted to siphon off an answer with their intense pull, "Do you wanna explain why I just found him trying to kill you in such a buffoonish manner while you had your back turned oblivious to EVERYTHING? Or should I just pass this test and let him fall?" he said before Seraph's grip very briefly loosened sending Marcus to fall back which earned Seraph a yelp from the bloodsucker.

"My grip is getting tired-so make it quick," he said with little restraint in his words or actions. Seraph would need more time to acclimate restraint and let it sink its roots deeper. Because sometimes his temper got the best of him and made him forget the definition to the word.
