On the out skirts of a large town stands a manor this manor is home to what has fondly become known as the Night Circus. While the circus runs during the day the shows costumes are all dark and reminiscent of what many humans believed hell looked like. At night the circus changed and the costumes became bright and colorful but this was when things really changed the guests weren't humans but demons and the performers were also demons. The circus had to shifts one could work either the day shift or the night shift but you were not allowed to work both. This allowed for everyone to pick when they preformed. The contract was iron clad and there were strict penalties in place if someone tried to break the rules.

Those who didn't perform or work in some capacity for the circus worked for the family who ran it as staff in the home. the staff ranged in ages from 18 and just starting out to 80 who had been there for years. Among them was the only person who had been there their whole life and knew the truth about the circus and its performers. Avalon had black hair with bright red tips and ice blue eyes. she worked as a maid in the house and as a secret performer as she hadn't signed any contract. Avalon only performed when she felt like it which was once a season. Her tight rope routines were complex and for someone who didn't practice when the others did a little dangerous.

Avalon stood and waited for the tightrope walkers to be called he face hidden by a mast and her hair hidden under a wig that was secured in place so that it wouldn't fall off while she performed. Avalon shifted a little in pain as she had received a beating earlier in the day and was in a considerable amount of pain. Avalon then adjusted her gloves which had little metal hooks on them which allowed her to swing on the rope with out cutting her hands up. when it was time for her to go on she headed to her spot and climbed up the ladder before settling on the platform and waiting to be introduced.

The Night Circus. A popular source of entertainment for humans and non-humans alike; although most of the humans about the world were clueless to the world of the supernatural. The circus ran two different shows during their week long shows; they had their shows during the day where only humans could attend. Then there was the night showing which allowed the non-humans to enjoy a show as well. There were moments where humans slipped in at night - although due to powerful magics around the tent, when they left they would find that they didn't remember anything that they had seen other than the show. They wouldn't recall any of the supernatural aspects, at least not unless they had been given permission. Such as the numerous human staff that resided within the large mansion.

Many of the staff slept within the mansion; staying there for a free place to stay. There were many different jobs that they could do but there were also a number of contracts that the owner had in place. One contract that allowed them to work within the mansion and only do work around the mansion. There was one that they signed if they were wanting to be strictly one of the performers, picking between the night and day shift. Then there was one final contract - one that allowed them to do both housework and be a performer. Although this third contract there were far more strict rules that came tied to it, to prevent the staff from becoming too tired. They couldn't work more than eight hours in a day between the two jobs - so they had to figure out what they were wanting to do. Especially considering their shows typically ran from between two to three hours.

A young woman with bright blue hair was just standing within the center of the tent, magic just swirling around her and a delicate smile on her lips. "Welcome one and all to our glorious show! For our first act of the night; we have decided to start with our talented tightrope walkers. Be careful not to look away." she was speaking in a low voice, but it seemed to carry throughout the entire tent nonetheless. Yet that was to be expected from the woman; the heiress to the second most powerful demon family under that of the Royals. While she had no talent whatsoever with a weapon, her magic was something that wasn't to be trifled with at all. Soon she was waving a hand before she seemed to be vanishing away and the lights were being directed towards that of the tightrope. Phaedra was just appearing farther up in the bleachers to sit in her usual spot while she was watching the show, just waiting to act if she was needing to.

'My lady. A human has been detected on the outskirts of the lands.' the albino snake that was coiled around her next seemed to be hissing at her which had her tilting her head ever so slightly, golden eyes just glowing a bit at the news. This had her stroking the head of the snake gently before she was speaking, "I shall allow my brother to handle the situation at hand. After all he is patrolling the outskirts now as we speak."

Phaedra and Sylvan Ambrose. The minds behind the circus so long ago - stemming from a visit to the human realm when they had been nothing but children. They had fallen in love with what they had seen and they had wanted to recreate it. And they had done just that. Now their Night Circus had become a powerful thing that happened. A beautiful show for all to enjoy which happened every three months and the shows lasted for a whole week. Shows every day so that no matter what everybody could enjoy the show. The performers were rotated throughout the week so that nobody was getting overly exhausted - for both day and night shift.

As this was happening, a male with light blue hair and golden eyes made his way through the forest, heading towards the sense that he had. The human that his sister had mentally told him about. A strange thing with in being so late at night, especially in those woods. Most humans didn't go through the expanse of forest that wrapped around the mansion at night. Home to many predators and supernaturals already. When the young man did find the human he saw that there seemed to be a wolf looming over them, although in a more protective manner than anything else. "Thank you for protecting her. I shall get her back to the mansion." Sylvan was speaking as he was going over to pick up the young woman. No weight at all to her. Dress in tatters, covered in cuts and bruises from fleeing from something, her hair was a ratted mess.

Avalon took a deep breath and then started her routine moving with grace and agility on the rope. at one point she swung down getting a gasp from the audience as it had looked like she had fallen. Avalon used a mix of gymnastics and dance in her routine and when she was done she moved to the plat form and then bowed waiting of the lights to go off of her so that she could head down and leave the tent getting back to her rooms before she was found out. Avalon headed to where she hid her things after she was down form the platform and changed before slipping out of the tent and heading for the back door of the manor. Avalon didn't want to get in to trouble for being out of bed when she should be resting.

Abadon appeared behind Phaedra and watched the tightrope walker. as the prince of the demons he often checked in on those working at the circus as he wanted to make sure that they weren't being exposed to the humans. pleased with the magic he felt in place ensuring that no one was discovered he sat back to watch the show and enjoy some down time from his normal day to day activities. Abadon noticed that the tightrope walker seemed to be hurt and then he spoke lightly "your tight rope walker is injured"

Phaedra was watching everything that was happening although her eyes were taking in the tightrope walker that was on the rope at that point in time, one that she wasn't familiar with. There was a thought in her mind that perhaps her brother had hired a new performer without mentioning something to her, but that was highly unlikely. The twins were always communicating with each other when it came to stuff, especially the circus. After all - the co-owned it with one another. They needed to be on the same page with everything that was happening. It wasn't long before her eyes were going towards that of the man that was appearing behind her and he was commenting that the tight rope walker was injured. "It shall be taken care of. Although what is strange though is that.... that tightrope walker isn't familiar." Now that she thought about it, she had seen her perform but it was very seldom. Were all performers performed at least once a week when they were having shows. That was a stipulation in their contract - that they had to do at least one show during that week. They could decide what day they were wanting to do it but that was the minimum.

Already she was just humming softly and the snake that was around her neck seemed to be slithering down and was taking to a different form before bolting off, following after the tightrope walker that had left. Now that alone was also a strange thing. Usually the performers would stay until the end of the show, so that they could all do that final bow to everybody at the end. Something that they had picked up from walking a play in the mortal realm at one point in time. And people seemed to enjoy it - allowing them to see the performers one final time that evening. After that she was just seeming to disappear so that she could appear within the center of the tent, although at that point in time it was as though she was floating in thin air. "A beautiful performance. Now for our next act...." She was speaking before she was waving her hands and soon enough the cages that held the hell hounds were appearing along with those that tamed them.

But unlike the humans - there was a connection between the hellhounds and the tamers. The tamers had picked the hellhounds when they were pups and raised them since then - teaching them all of these tricks. Never did they need to use violence to get them to do what they were needing to do; all it took was a simple command. The trust between the hound and the tamer was the crucial and important thing; and it was something that they all had. With that she was going back to her seat before she was speaking to Abadon, "Lord Sylvan shall be taking over for me in a short bit. He is going to be getting the human that he had found within the forest to the infirmary."

Abadon nodded his head "well done and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help" while he didn't own any of the circus he did provide monetary aid every now and then to make sure that everything was better as he enjoyed the shows. Abadon then leaned back so that his back was straight and watched the show knowing the things were going to get interesting. Abadon would stay till after the show and them speak with the two siblings about some issues going on in the demon realm so that they were aware of what was happening.

Avalon quickly arrived at her room and crawled in to her bed covering up so that she could get some sleep before she started her sift in the morning. while most would have stayed she couldn't risk being found out as she would get in to trouble. Avalon had lived there he whole life having been raised by the two so she knew their rules well. Avalon maid sure her alarm was set and she closed her eyes. Avalon hadn't noticed the snake that had followed her and she didn't know if it had followed her to her room either.

The snake had shifted into a small mouse after leaving that of its mistress and had in fact followed after Avalon, its eyes being that of Phaedra's eyes. Giving her a look as to who exactly was preforming in the show, and who exactly was injured. Information that Phaedra was mentally passing onto that of her brother since typically he was the one who dealt with punishments if they needed to be handed out. Not that they were super harsh with their punishments - they weren't going to toss them into a cell and starve them, or maim them. No for some they took away the right for the performer to perform during the next show time. Sometimes they would give them a pay decrease for a duration as the punishment. The twins were fair - but still stern at all at once.

Phaedra was just letting out a small breath before she was looking towards Abadon before she was speaking, "A human found within the forest this late at night is an odd thing. And Sylvan states that there are a couple of familiar demonic energies around her." Which meant that she had recently been around other demons; which could explain why she was there. Having accidentally run into some demons and had just run. But there was no way to know until a more thorough examination was done, and that was something that Phaedra would handle. With that she was rising to her feet as a portal was opening up and soon enough her blue haired twin was walking through the portal to take over as the ring leader.

Sylvan was just looking before he was speaking, aiming towards both Phaedra and Abadon "I am pretty sure that I could feel the energy of the Crimson King." Another powerful demon; one that they had thought had disappeared a number of years ago after his failed attempt to kill the royals; had come close. Although he hadn't quite been counting for Phaedra being within the palace at the time, studying some ancient spell texts within the archives of the royal library with the permission from the royals. So upon hearing all of the commotion she had come out and reacted by throwing up a barrier around the royals; keeping him away. This had Phaedra giving a frown before she was speaking, "Well that isn't good at all." "The other one is a scent that has definitely lingered there longer than that one." Sylvan was commenting; the lingering scent meant that it was a demon that the human had been around far longer.

"Who?" was all Phaedra could ask as she was walking towards the portal to pass through it.

"That other energy belongs to the High General of the Demon Army. The Black King." Sylvan was speaking. Now that was curious. Very curious indeed. The man didn't typically associate with humans at all. Yet the thought had Phaedra pausing for a moment in time before she was putting something together, and now she was needing to confirm it before she said anything. Just passing through the portal.

Abadon looked at him "let's hope this human is ok and will recover well" Abadon then watched as he went to introduce the next performance of the show. while he wanted to join Phaedra he didn't want to scare the human either. Adabon's presence often made people uncomfortable and he wanted to make sure that she wasn't scared and would talk to them when she was recovered. Abadon was also worried about the Crimson King being back and he mentally alerted his parents so that way they could be on high alert if something happened.

Phaedra was just looking towards Abadon before she was speaking, "Why don't you come with." With that she was just passing through the portal and entering the medical wing. The human was laying on the bed at the time, and was wearing one of the hospital gowns, staff having gotten her changed. And already a list was being handed to her about the physical injuries that were noted. Definitely signs of abuse for certain. This had Phaedra walking over, already her magic wrapping around the human so that she could check for any internal injuries. So close she could definitely feel both of the energies although feeling how strong the Black King's energy was on her, was confirming a thought that she had. Even seeing the human confirmed it. This was most definitely the human that the Black King had taken under his wing so many years ago after her village had been destroyed; and she had been just a child. But a number of years ago she had just disappeared one day - the Black King having never given up trying to find her.

Abadon followed her and looked at the girl "shall I summon him?" Abadon didn't want to scare the girl but he knew the Black King was still looking for her to this day. Adabon then moved to look around the medical wing taking everything in. with her skill with magic he was pleased that she would use normal treatments as well so that she didn't over do it, But in this case he had a feeling that normal treatments weren't going to be for the best. Abadon then returned to Phaedra's side and looked at the foil young woman once more

Phaedra was just looking towards Abadon before she was speaking, "Why don't you at least inform him of the current situation. But please ask that he avoid visiting at this current point." While she knew that the man would want nothing more than to get to his child he would also respect the why Phaedra was asking him to hold off on visiting at that point. With that she was just sitting on the edge of the bed next to the young woman and touching her forehead gently, just focusing on starting to heal her. Aiming for the worse of the injuries visit. The internal bleeding being an important thing to take care of right away. Although while she was working on healing she did hold out her arm for the little mouse that scurried in only to turn back into the snake as it slithered up her arm, gently coiling around her. A strange pet for a noblewoman to have. In truth a shifter that had no human form, not anymore anyways. Had spent so much time as an animal that it was the only form that he could take now, the snake being the form that he was typically in.

Abadon nodded his head and then moved out of the room so that he could notify the Black King that the girl had been found. Abadon reached out to the man and waited for him to respond knowing that he was probably busy at the moment. Abadon then looked back at them and nodded his head when he saw the snake return to her which told him that she now knew who needed help as well. while he hadn't ment to get the woman in to any trouble he had see how she had moved and he had just wanted her to be taken care of so that she wasn't hurting

Phaedra just turned her full focus on healing the young woman in front of her, deciding that the situation with Avalon could be dealt within the morning. There were no life threatening injuries it seemed like, so she wasn't going to just die in the middle of the night. And she didn't want to wake her up in the middle of the night to get answers for what had happened, so it could wait for the time. But there were definitely answers that were going to be needed to be given based off of what she had seen through her pet's eyes, her familiar if anything, told her that she had been beaten. By who? Now that was the million dollar question that she was going to get to the bottom of. Or Sylvan would get to the bottom of. She wasn't quite sure. Probably her brother since she was going to be more focused on healing at that point in time.

As Abadon was reaching out to the Black King, there was definitely that mental delay before the man was actually answering. 'Forgive me for my late respond, my Prince.' was all the man was speaking mentally after a moment in time. He had been busy training some of the new recruits at the palace but once he had gotten that message from the prince, he had stepped away leaving his second in command to train the recruits.

'it is fine Black King do not fret but I have some good news for you. your child has been found' Abadon knew that the man would be excited and would want to see her right away but he needed the man to wait till he was given the ok for him to visit. Abadon didn't want to overwhelm the girl or to see the man become upset at her condition. while he waited to hear what the man would say he let his own magic out to sense if the Crimson King was near or not as he didn't want to have to worry about him either

There was radio silence on the other end before the Black King was finally seeming to speak, 'You found her... You found Kaestae.... Where is she? How is she?' No there were a hundred questions but thankfully he didn't seem to be showing signs of just coming straight to Abadon. No while he wanted nothing more than to get to his child... there was something that was telling him now wasn't the best idea. But the fact that she had been found was great news.... and the fact that Abadon had said it was good news told him that she was still alive.

'yes she was found and she wandered on to the Ambrose's human estate and circus. As for how she is she is in pretty bad shape and is being healed currently' Abadon leaned against the wall and closed his eyes so that he could focus on the conversation with the Black King and reassure him that she was going to be ok and not to worry about her. Abadon wondered how she had gotten away from the Crimson King and if the man was going to hunt for her. Knowing the man like he did he didn't doubt that the man would look for her it was just a matter on if he could track where she had gone or not

Knowing that she was somewhere safe did have the Black King settling some, but there was still that amount of worry that was coursing through him. But he was a father. While he wasn't the human's biological father, he was still her father. He had taken her in at a young age after she had lost everything, and he had raised her under his wing. Protected her, taught her what she needed to know, took care of her, loved her. In every sense of the word he had been a father. 'Please have Lady Ambrose reach out to me when it is safe for me to come to see her.' the Black King was speaking after a moment in time. No while he wanted to go, he knew that he was just going to get in the way. Although he did have to wonder where she had been the last few years and was asking Abadon if there had been any signs as to who she had been with recently.

As they were speaking, Phaedra was just tending to the young woman although she did find herself giving a startled gasp when the young woman did seem to be waking up. Although she was definitely startling awake and quivering instantly, her gray eyes filled with fright. "Shhh sweetheart. You are safe. My name is Phaedra and I am a healer." Phaedra was speaking in a gentle voice and just kept her hands out where the young woman could see them the entire time, just breathing slowly to encourage her to breath with her. "Why don't you lay back down so that I can get you healed up." she continued to speak gently, coaxing the young woman into laying down. It did take a bit but she was slowly, hesitantly. Terrified. Not that anybody could blame her, especially if she had been with the Crimson King. He was known for his violence. Always had been. But that is also what had made him one of the most feared generals when it came to handling the enemy, he was one of the people that the enemy didn't want to encounter.

"Can you tell me your name?" Phaedra was questioning in a soft voice as she continued to heal the young woman. The other woman's gray eyes just seemed to watch her before she was speaking in a very soft voice, "Kaestae." Well that definitely confirmed that she was the Black King's daughter. No doubt about it. Although it wasn't long before the young woman just seemed to start rambling, just utterly breaking down but Phaedra was gathering quite a bit of information. But the news definitely had her frowning ever so slightly as she listened.

'Abadon. We do have a slight situation. She confirmed that she had been with the Crimson King. But she hadn't escaped. He had released her. Which means that.... He is hunting. He is playing his game.' Phaedra was speaking to the prince. Not the first time that the man had done this - typically it was with prisoners. Letting them go and making them think that they were free, before he would start the hunt. And that is what she was almost certain that the man was doing at that point. Or why else would he voluntarily release her. Especially being the daughter of the Black King. Those men didn't like each other... at all. Although the Black King more didn't like the Crimson King because of his actions; how he handled stuff, how brutal he was. The Crimson King on the other hand didn't like anybody at all.

Abadon assured the man that he would be told when it was safe for him to come and visit before he listened to Phaedra with a frown. this had him walking back in to the room and looking at her "is it possible to lock down the grounds and manor so he can't get here?" Abadon didn't know what kind of security they had in place but if the man was hunting then they were going to have to be on guard as he wouldn't give up on his prey willingly. Abadon then looked at Kaestae and smiled "I am glad to see you are awake little one and when it is safe your father would like to come and see you"

Phaedra was just looking towards him before she was nodding her head and speaking, "Yes it will be simple enough to do that." Although her attention was going towards Kaestae who seemed to have started to panic once Abadon entered the room. This had her shifting so that she was blocking her sight of him and just speaking to her softly, getting her to breath with her slowly at that point in time. "This is Abadon. He is a close friend of mine, and he won't harm you. Just like I won't harm you." Phaedra was speaking in a gentle voice, just helping her get her breathing slowed. No she had heard what Abadon had said about her father wanting to visit, although she didn't really acknowledge it. But he would understand. A patient was panicking, that was her focus at that point. To get them to calm down before it got worse.

"Kaestae. What has you scared?" Phaedra was questioning in a soft voice, just keeping the young woman's focus on her. But it wasn't long before the young woman was speaking in a small voice, words that Abadon would hear her say. Oh it had been more or less conditioned into her head that the royal family were even more cruel than the Crimson King. As he put it to his "staff" he was cruel to make them stronger, while the royal family was just cruel because they couldn't be punished. "Master said that.... it would mean....d...death if we ever r...ran into the royal family." Kaestae was whispering. It seemed that at that point she was even more afraid of the royal family than the Crimson King. In her eyes that man was more of a saint than anything.

"Abadon is the Prince but he is a very kind soul. He would never harm anybody without good reason. His parents are also very gentle people as well. When I was younger.... I had gotten into a fight with my parents and I had run away from home. Ended up getting myself into some trouble and at that point I didn't know much about my abilities or anything. It was actually the queen who had come to my rescue. But she never harmed those that tried to harm me.... she just scolded them as though she were their mother. Even to this day... thinking back on full grown demon men running away with their tails between their legs like scared dogs after just being verbally scolded by the queen makes me giggle." Phaedra was speaking after a moment in time before just telling Kaestae a few other stories about the royals through her own personal experience, to make it a bit more relatable.

Abadon didn't move to get closer as he didn't want to scare the girl more but hearing the lies that had been told annoyed him. Abadon listened as Phaedra talked to her and smiled as his mother also told stories about the woman's time with them. Abadon chuckled a little showing that he wasn't scary or cruel but kind like she had said. If he was as the Crimson King had said he would have punished both of them for no other reason then he could and he hadn't done that

Phaedra was just looking towards Kaestae gently before she was speaking, "It is Abadon who actually let your father know that you are safe." "Father...." Kaestae was speaking in a soft voice before tears were forming and she seemed to be breaking down once again. This had Phaedra just hugging her gently before she was just softly shushing her and encouraging her to lay down once again. "Why don't you get to sleep. When you wake up you'll be all healed up and your father will be there with you. And if you wake up and you are afraid, have this little guy here come and get me." Phaedra was speaking as her snake, which had taken the form of a small kitten, was trotting up onto the pillow of the bed.

Abadon nodded his head lightly and smiled at her. he would let the Black King know when he could come and visit with his child and see that she is ok and not be worried about her. Abadon then turned and left the room letting the girl get some rest with out him hovering. Abadon waited for Phaedra to join him once the girl was settled and calm so that they could walk and talk about when they had learned. He would have to let his parents know about what was going on so that they were aware of what was happening

Soon enough the young woman was asleep once again and Phaedra was just placing a rune on her - which was harmless. It would just allow Phaedra to continue to heal her without being right next to her. With that she was getting to her feet so that she could follow after Abadon, her familiar laying on the pillow next to the slumbering female. "Well this is definitely turning into a disaster. And I am assuming that you showing up here in the first place was to discuss a situation that was already occurring and not just to pay a visit." Phaedra was commenting. Typically he would give them warning when he was planning to visit, not just show up out of the blue.

"you would be correct but this more recent news is more important then what I was coming to inform you of" Abadon let out a sigh and then rubbed his face lightly "that he is back has me worried" Abadon didn't know if he would try attacking the Royal family again or not. Abadon walked with her to where her brother was so that they could tell him what had been learned so he was aware that they might have an unwanted guest. Abadon also wondered how things were going to settle once the girl was healed

"I mean I think whatever you were coming to inform me of was probably important as well or you wouldn't have come in person. You would have just sent a letter or said something mentally." Phaedra was pointing out after a moment in time as they continued through the mansion and towards Sylvan's office. Not that the man was there at that current point in time - he was currently in the big tent helping get some of the last few things squared away as the show had ended not long ago.

Abadon nodded his head lightly "that you are right on but it would more or less piss you both off once I tell you" Abadon and his parents had been getting demands for the pairs hands in marriage as there were people who wanted to claim them as their spouse. thankfully his family didn't believe in forcing people to marry and they wouldn't act on any of the demands but the pair needed to know what was going on so that they could be aware and prepare for anything that happened
