While you will be a bit limited in what you can do until you've been verified (the welcoming committee should give you the details on how to do that in your introduction thread) the general idea is to write up a Request Thread in the appropriate section on the site based on the gender of the characters you'd like to play as. Give some details as to what you are into and what you aren't, give some information about writing styles and such, and share some plot ideas you might have. A request thread is self-advertising so put a little effort into it, though don't worry about making it perfect.
While you wait for any bites, peruse the request threads of other people to see if any of them seem appealing to you and, if they do, reach out and send them a PM to discuss further. One thing that a lot of people seem to run afoul of here is that you don't post in other people's request threads; always send a PM if you'd like to discuss further. Though you won't be able to send PM's until you've been verified, you can reply to any that other members initiate.
