Name: Emily Hartford
Age: 18
Kin: Aer
Fighting Style: Magic, with a focus on illusions and plants and a side bit of elemental blasting, manipulation, and healing. Distract and confound the foe before striking.
Description: With pale skin, long, mostly straight, red hair, and pale silver-blue eyes that glow with their own light, Emily stands out rather more than she’d like to. Her body is slender and toned from an active life of magic and movement, and the crystal set just below her collarbone is a mostly flat diamond, points towards her neck and down lower, and to the sides, faceted to a peak in the centre, and about two inches across at the longest point. She’s not very tall, herself, reaching maybe 5’2’’ on a good day, but she often moves by floating or flying, making it less of an issue. Her nails are a pale blue-silver crystal in colour, and quite sharp if not cared for. She likes fluffy and ruffly outfits, and her big ol’ hat was a gift from her mentor.
Personality: Cheery and curious with a dash of honest and innocent…On the surface, anyway. In truth, she is surprisingly dutiful and diligent, with a rather crafty, cunning, mind.
History: Emily grew up in a small village of Albenon, well off the beaten path in the forests and mountains of the Rhedonan Federation. A hunter’s village whose people spent their time, well, hunting, turning game into food and pelts and other things for trade, as well as foraging. It was a peaceful life, but not one Emily was very well-suited for. Luckily enough, however, she found the local witch fascinating. An ornery old woman who lived alone in the woods nearby, she didn’t protest
too much when Emily kept showing up, and eventually Emily was taught, and learned. Making potions, wielding magic, how to redirect people and monsters and protect herself.
Good things seldom last, however. Eventually the old lady passed away, and Emily took up her job for the village, and while she settled into the role, the surrounding woods got worse. More hostile, less bountiful, and the beasts grew vicious. When hunters started not coming back from their trips, the village made the decision to evacuate, to migrate to safer land. Emily, still only fourteen at the time, travelled with her family to a nearby town, Gallanon. It was difficult to get used to it, to the crowdedness and the walls, but she managed and even got to continue her practice, if in a different form.
And then the darkness came. Whatever malaise had taken hold of her original home had spread through the woods to her new home in just two short years. But a town is not so easily uprooted, nor is it so easily defeated, with walls and skilled defenders. Attacks happened, and were beaten back, and Emily rose to defend her home. Others were unsure about letting one so young onto the battlefield, but in uncertain times, every bit of help is taken.
It was there, on the walls of her new home, that she learned to use magic for offence. Illusions and trickery won’t stop a horde, so she called on the plants and the elements to do it for her. A year of intermittent battle was a big help, but soon she was seeking a bigger advantage…There was only so much she could do, and she admired, and maybe envied, the Taelesol and their Regios and how much more they could accomplish. Quite a few such individuals had come to Gallanon over the course of the year, and with her home defended, Emily decided to make the journey to Lurelin, to see if she could become a Taelesol, herself.
She could. She did. The Forge, through whichever means it used, decided she was worthy, and granted her a Regios of her own.
Other Information: Her magic is largely practical magic, rather than combat-focused, with spells for cleaning and healing, helping with crops, and summoning, but she had to learn combat spells, and is quite powerful with them. Makes sure to not lie....Most of the time. Being honest as much as possible makes it a lot easier to be believed when she isn’t. Usually she uses this to subtly misdirect with illusions rather than anything untoward, of course!
Regios Name: Will of the Woods
Regios Class: Archsage
Regios Armament: A long, runed, focusing staff tipped in crystal, looking to be groan of an ancient, pale, wood, or perhaps stone. An assortment of floating crystal focusers that aid in directing extra spells, or maintaining longer-lasting enchantments. Flight stability and speed modules and boosters, focusing on efficiency and quickness.
Regios Description: Lithe and lightly armoured, the Will of the Woods looks to be made primarily of wood, pale and with runes of crystal running the length of the limbs. Not tall, by Regios standards, it’s shape is feminine, and key locations, chest, hips, the joints and certain sections of legs and arms, are reinforced with dark green crystalline metal, edged in gold. Long dark fabric makes a skirt, open at the front, from the plates around it’s hips. It lacks a large hat, to Emily’s chagrin, the head being smooth and featureless and instead adorned with a crown of crystal and gold.
An assortment of floating crystal focusers surround the Regios when activated, six, each about eighteen inches long, around the waist as a skirt, four more making up ‘wings’, two on each foot and hand, and another on each elbow and knee. When de-activated, either not worn or not in combat, they attach securely to the Regios. They appear as diamonds with one end longer than the other three, made of the same green metal, edged in gold, as the plates on the main body. Each one has a crystal set into the center, however, clear and blue, peeking out at each point.
