W&G: The Inquisitor's Speartip

Talshi was disappointed that the soldiers surrendered. Of course he had offered it as an option as well but his preference was for inflicting pain, not handing out mercy. Still he would honor the arrangement all the same, eyeing the guards and flourishing his blades in anticipation should one try anything but they continued to comply. By the time the scions moved in to arrest them, the sslyth shifted his gaze between the three nobles, the captives that were nearly executed.

The conversation between the stunty human and the rather cowardly one didn't much concern him, codes might be helpful to get through a door or such but didn't need any influence on his part to sus out. So he begrudgingly allowed his posture to slide into a more relaxed state and ultimately turned to more or less stare down the female in the brightly colored clothing. He doubted any of these people would be judged too harshly if they were otherwise seen as threats to whatever corrupt regime was now in control but he still couldn't help but think about how fitting the woman would be for his... care. While he didn't speak such a thing out loud, and his alien appearance no doubt helped to hide his thoughts, the intensity in his eyes would likely still come through regardless. Though truly he was simply waiting for the interrogation to be completed more than anything.
 
Aye, and how the snake-man can fight, too! I shuffle into the room behind the rest. Better to keep out of the way and let Vâk do his talking.

All the same, I keep Lady angled in the general direction of the disarmed guards. Seen too many heretics surrender and then pull grenades or knives. Speaking of which I'm not yet convinced our friendly nobles here are as virtuous as they claim. It'd be a pretty picture of us to storm in here and rescue them, and they must know that. Perhaps there was a change of robes at some point, or a change of faiths.

We'll see. I've every confidence that the truth will soon come to light. In the meantime I scuttle over to Flagg. "Do you know any of our lords, here?"
 
Flagg had her gun at rest, though eyes the two new groups, the surrendered guards and the rescued nobles. Her steely eyes flicked over to the shorter Augie as the woman came over and the agent settled her volley gun down, taking a moment to consalt a data slate. It didn't take her long before she was giving everyone a quick rundown of their three prisoners. "Hugo and Solicia Van Staten, eldest son and daughter of our target," She gestured to the talkative man who had been forced to kneel and the noblewoman. That just left the foppish man who glanced nervously, oddly enough towards Solicia most often. "That would make him Tutius, Solicia's husband."

Flagg had talked loud enough for the prisoners to hear, each having a different reaction. Hugo nodded earnestly, while Tutius straightened his well-tailored robes and seemed to try and gather himself. Solicia just seemed disgusted with both the men in her presence and sneered lightly at their 'saviors.'

"Yes the codes!" Hugo seemed desperate to be helpful here. "We were given codes to a train under the palace, father said it was out escape route should anything happen, before the heretic led him so astray, oh father..." Solicia tutted in disapproval to this statement and glared lightly at Hugo now, seeming to disagree with her brother's statement in some way.
 
Khanzhar rolled her eyes inside her helmet as it seemed the situation had been resolved. Resting her klaive on her shoulder she walked up towards the group. "Hmm really? Codes to a train under the palace." she said with a sneer. "Hear that? It seems we have a subsequent objective, destruction of the train to ensure no one else escapes this place." she said looking to Flagg with a smirk that could be felt under her helmet.

"Our orders were the recovery of the lord wasnt it? Just the lord. By himself." her voice said with the melodramatic role of a executioner reciting their lines. "Before this place is reduced to rubble. And that train could risk the escape of the warp touched, or Khaine forbid, even one of the neverborn and their poxes into the city at large." It was clear where Khanzhar was going though whether the others agreed was another matter.
 
Talshi didn't much care about the spread of this corruption, whether it happened or not, but they had plenty of explosives and it probably wouldn't take much effort to destroy the train. Course, it could also be an alternate method of getting the lord out instead if need be. Still, that hardly mattered for the moment since they had barely entered the palace proper; worrying about the train was a ways off in his mind and they could discuss it later. Instead his gaze, though given for a different reason, seemed enough to pick up on tension that the noblewoman's face held from the conversation.

"Have sssomething to say do you?" He directed to Solicia. He wasn't much of a... conversationalist but he did know how to be imposing. While drukhari weren't easily frightened, his kind took to such things naturally. Besides, it was mostly the drukhari's victims that sslyth were often threatening more than anything else. "Is he... lying?" Talshi spun the power sword in his upper right hand and pointed it towards the younger man, though still plenty of distance away to not really make the action too dangerous. "Or does your sssour look stem from another source?"

Despite not pointing a sword at him, Tutius jumped all the same, taking a step back as he proved quite easily spooked. Hugo held steady, though did eye that blade with a little worry. Solicia for her part seemed unimpressed by the Ssylth and just glanced back and forth between her husband and brother. "Cowering to xenos and mutant filth, really? Our father's ascension is at hand, the salvation of the Emperor, and you let yourself fall to the first group of heretics that storm the palace. You are both pathetic!" Seems someone in the group wasn't feeling particularly repentant.


At last speaking up, perhaps motivated by Khanzhar's revelation that they were only here for the Lord, perhaps Talshi's threat, the fop squeaked out. "Wait, wait! I have access to the plans for the city defense. If you get me out of here I'll hand everything I have over!" Tutius having a high pitched voice for a man, though perhaps that was just the fear bringing him up an octave or two. Solicia's glare suddenly is reserved fully for her husband at that moment.
 
"Tell usss the plans and give us these codes you mentioned and we will get you out of here." The inquisitor will interrogate them and sort them. Possibly dole them out as rewards later on between himself and Khanzar. Of course, these nobles would be treated as prisoners and not guests but the fear in the two men still seemed that such treatment was far preferable to any alternatives. The female though, she seemed like she'd be fun to break and she also seemed to be aligned with these cultists so the chances of such an encounter were rising.
 
"Right, right!" Tutius reached into his robe, quickly and shakily looking for a dataslate. With his life on the line the man very much wanted to please, and he was already convinced that this ecclectic group would torture and push him at a moments notice. After a few seconds of fumbling he seemed to find it and made a soft exclamation as he started to pull the device out of his robe...

On the whole more eyes where on Tutius, watching as he started to pull a dataslate out, their focus away from the other prisoners, from Solicia in this moment. Hidden within the folds of her dress, she pulled out a small las-pistol and quickly took aim with the skill of someone who has had some practice with the weapon. The woman does not aim it at any of the party however, nor at her previous captors. No, she aimed it directly at her husband...

Flagg was the only one who spotted this in time, the woman quickly rushing forward almost on instinct. She didn't have time to reach her, but she was able to tackle Tutius to the ground just as the trigger was pulled. The shot missed its intended target and might have been utterly harmless... if Vak didn't happen to be standing right in the path and las bolt to the chest.

For Vak's complication he finds himself in the way of the failed shot.
