Thoughts on project zomboid?

I always find myself going back to PZ every handful of months because it is a really, really good game. I wouldn't say it's my favourite survival / zombie game, but it's up there in the top three, for sure. I've never survived past a week, though.

I have not played the new build yet but like cyx. I go back to the game every couple of months and am due for a replay soon. It has its ups and downs. Sometimes it plays like a Sims game with the building and cooking and skill development. Other times I've been jump scared thoroughly by unseen zombies. But I'd say mid-game, late-game, it can get boringly repetitive if you're all settled and secured. The first month is usually the fun grind part. Just my opinion :) other people's mileage may vary.

Have you played unstable build 42 yet? Its out I usually prefer the veteran cabin nearby the lake at muldraugh.
Honestly, I've never played long enough to really get a proper layout of the map. I think the last time I played was maybe.. 7 months ago, minimum.

I love it. I've yet to play unstable; waiting for a while until they hash out some bugs and stuff before I jump back in. Honestly, after playing with a group of friends, it's a little hard for me to get back into it on single player because the game feels super lonely (which makes sense in a zombie apocalypse, but still). The chaos that comes from having multiple people breaking shit adds a little something that makes it more engaging to play. Once you got a house all boarded up and canned food for the next three years, it gets dull fast.

Of course you can lower loot spawns and everything to make it more difficult, but even then you just adapt after a while.

We (My usual gaming group of friends 4-6 people) all played in a group game once on PZ. One of them decided as we were figuring out roles and such that he wanted to be a serial killer menace to the group. So we had 5 survivors, the zombies, and one crazed madman on the loose. It was bloody hilarious. The hostile live player element really amped up the survival side for us. And he played the part really well. It was an extra challenge for his side too having to essentially survive solo and kill/steal anything he could get off of us too.

Worth a shot if you got a group to do it with :) Super good, super difficult, super complex game but it'll reward the effort.
