It had only failed them once, but that was a very long time ago.
"Would you like to come with me to the tavern, lieben?" She offered, sweeping the den floor.
He smiled as he watched her. A few images of her in less dignified poses flashed in his mind, but he put them aside for now. They were going to have a nice evening.
She held his hand as they walked, keeping close to him. She used the opportunity to check the wolfsbane she had tied around; some would need to be replaced soon.
When they entered the tavern, all eyes moved to them.
"Ah! Ludwig! Aileen! Good to see you!" The barkeeper greeted. She smiled and moved to sit at one of the tables, making sure it would fit Ludwig's broad frame.
"The wife made a fine stew today. But, if you don't want that, there's roast pig and mutton and some stew vegetables." He said. Aileen smiled.
"Roast mutton sounds good." She said.
The barkeeper came over with their plates; two full half platters of glistening mutton legs and potatoes and carrots and onions smothered in a stew gravy. He set them in front of the two and left to get their wine.
