Just putting feelers out there. ♡

I’m a sucker for a good scare, so horror games will always get my love. However, I’m looking for some game recommendations. I want to bulk up my library! I want to hear about some of your favorite games.

Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Warhammer Rogue Trader are some of my definitive favorites. For something a bit more horror centric and eccentric, I'd go with Alan Wake 2. Very enjoyable. If you're fine with older games then I'd certainly recommend the Dead Space franchise and FEAR.

Some intel, I am getting a PC quite soon for the sole purpose of playing BG3 (such a shame my poor old PC has given out), I’m so excited to play it.

Aah these are such great recommendations! I’ll have to write them all down, thank you! ♡

(Side note I loved Dead Space)

Besides horror, what other genres of games do you like, or are there any genres you're interested in?

If there is a reason to spend money on a computer, then you have chosen the correct one.

Oh for sure, horror is just my personal favorite. I love feeling my heart just beat out of my chest. The build up is chef kiss.

However, I do love RPGs, Shooters, Fighter games, Survival based games- so many. But boy, oh boy am I bad at platformers and strategy based games. I live up to my username, I am so head empty.

In that case let me run through the gamut of games I've been playing that I enjoy or my friends speak highly of.

Baldur's Gate 3 - though this seems to be on your list as it is.
Metaphor Refantazio: If you're familiar with the Persona series by Atlus, this is basically fantasy Persona. A jrpg with a calendar/schedule system as well as something of a job/class system in a fantasy setting with an interesting story.
Rogue Trader: Also mentioned above. You become a Rogue Trader in the warhammer 40,000 setting - something of a freelance privateer/merchant prince in a grim dark galaxy.
Elden Ring - action RPG in a relatively open world. If you're familiar with the Souls series by From Software, this is their largest showing to date and probably the most refined the formula has ever been.

I could suggest some other games but they tend to get more esoteric and niche.

What FF and Revelations have said I totally agree with, CP2077, Rogue Trader, and BG3 are all fantastic. I'm going to recommend some lesser-known ones!

SOMA is a very good psychological horror indie game, it's a lot more story-focused and fairly light on mechanics though!
Prey from 2017 is also very good, I don't think people class it as a horror game but it definitely has elements..
My favorite games are the two Dishonored games (Particularly No2!) purely for the art direction and story alone (Also having different endings depending on how many people you kill is fun!)
The Metro series is a good mix of horror/shooter elements and some light survival elements. (You have to purchase supplies and ration them throughout the game which I find almost unique to a story-based shooter).

And of course, you have to play the official KFC dating sim: I love you, Colonel Sanders! (Please don't play actually play this, I was forced to and regretted every second)

Also, let us know what PC you end up getting, I need to buy a new one this year as well and I've been out of the loop on PC parts for so long 😭

I am viciously taking notes! Thank you so much!

I had the fortunate chance of dabbling in Elden Ring elsewhere and I adored it.

As for esoteric and niche games please feel free to recommend those as well. Those kinds of games don’t get enough love and I’m willing to give them a shot!

I am viciously taking notes here as well! Ugh, you are all amazing. I’ve played Dishonored and Metro (I’m a sucker for post apocalyptic anything) and they were both fantastic! Such good recommendations!

I…I’m so sorry I think I need to at least try that game. I see your warning but I also the the chance with Colonel Sanders and dare I say… smash. I did however play Hatoful Boyfriend against my will and what a time that was! 😔

I absolutely will do! I am doing a cheap route of buying one off of a friend who just upgraded to a new one for no reason other than wanting to, so their old one I claimed so fast! 😭

As far as horror games go, I cannot recommend Alien: Isolation enough. The two AIs controlling the behavior of the Alien are relatively simple, but they work brilliantly to make it feel like it's an intelligent predator hunting you.

Helldivers 2 is pretty fun, and it's at its best when you're playing with friends. Same goes for Deep Rock Galactic (Rock and Stone! ⛏️)

As for my favorite games, I love Monster Hunter. I know World is what made the series popular here in the West, but I would say the most fun entry in the series to me is Rise.

Dragon Age series (Origins is great, 2 is OK, Inquisition is fantastic, I haven't played Veilguard yet but I've heard mixed reviews)
Mass Effect series (the original trilogy is a must, and Andromeda isn't as bad as some might tell you)
Horizon Zero Dawn is awesome, and I'm slowly making my way through Forbidden West

To be fair the Colonal in the game is... Yea... Smash... I've just had to go look up Hatoful Boyfriend and that way looks way worse then the KFC dating sim so I'm sure you'll enjoy it more than I did :ROFLMAO:

I wish I knew friends like yours where I could just acquire old PCs! Mine is almost ten years old and I just keep putting it off because I keep thinking 'Well next year all the new stuff will run even faster!)

A lot of this depends on your budget, time allowed, and preferred genre.

I don't really fuck with horror, but if I did, I would probably play Darkwood. I saw one video and had trouble sleeping.

General games I love:

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth

Shadow of the Colossus

Saints Row 2 (kinda old now)

Red Dead Redemption (1 and 2)

Tekken 8 - If you want to throw hands.

Animal Crossing New Horizons

For multiplayer a lot of people are enjoying games like Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, Apex Legends, Fortnite.

Really depends on what you're looking for.

Niche: Haven. Single player exploration, light combat, romance game. Very relaxing most of the time. Great art style and the movement mechanics are fun.

Yeah, got to jump back in here with this too, because people made some amazing points, definitely.

Alien Isolation is stunning.
Dragon Age is amazing, overall. (Not so much the newest, don't come for me if you liked it.)
Mass Effect is wonderful. (The end left a lot to be desired, but overall.)
