Suggestion I get we can’t use the “ignore” button on mods… but can we get something???

Like maybe you can use ignore on them, but they can make certain posts/comments “official” to bypass it when acting in an official capacity?

It’s a small issue, but it is annoying to be looking through request threads, a title grabs your attention, but then you see who posted it…

Just a small idea.

Are you having an issue with a Mod? Or are you just refusing to write with Mods because they are Mods?
Oh nothing dramatic. I replied to their request thread once, they ignored the message completely without even saying “not interested”, and so I know I’ll never want to write with them in the future.

Got nothing against mods, I always add people who don’t reply to my ignore list, saves me time and future heart ache. :)

I didn’t get into the “why” of it because I thought that might be considered airing dirty laundry, but since you asked, I’ll just leave their name out and hope that will suffice. :)

No, there is not a means to ignore Mods due to how we're set up. If I remove Mods from the Staff role, then yes, one could ignore a Mod, but they will not be removed from the Staff role. I'll look to see if there are other workarounds.

Oh yeah, it’s no big deal. This “incident” with the mod happened a long time ago, so I’m not still mad about it, just occurred to me that it might be useful to some people.

I’m definitely not suggesting they should be removed as a mod or anything like that, being a little rude isn’t a huge deal. Just noticed a little flaw in the system and thought I’d share the idea. No big deal. :)

I think you misunderstood what I meant by removing Mods from the Staff role. Mod is a group, Staff is a role. Mods & Admins are groups within the Staff role. It is what helps separate roles and privileges on the back end.

That sounds like it would require a hack, and those aren't ideal at least if they're not dead simple for cases that aren't rather obscure. Maybe a policy that only admins announce major things, but if an admin snubs you that wouldn't help >.>

Something that might be interesting, and might still require a hack, would be a finer grained search filter where you can easily and regularly omit usernames commonly posting/bumping threads you've already checked. Since this seems like a really minor case of 'don't want to write with them anyway' and searching through new RTs and avoiding bumped ones you've seen a long time is probably common, this might be where to explore.

I wonder if I could make an exception per forum.

It's something I will have to put on the list.

Would it be easier for mods to have separate-ish anonymous accounts.

Say JohnDoe becomes a mod of some type, they get access to a toggle that puts them in "mod mode". All messages would them come from Mod-1 instead of JohnDoe. JohnDoe could be ignored but not Mod-1. It would allow the mods to keep their official and personal separate, although it might need something in their so that mods would be able to see which personal account is linked to a mod account.

I don't really like that solution. A mod can have, but shouldn't need, an alt. That just feels sloppy and almost punitive to me

This isn't something that I will be putting on our Mods, no. One, we don't have that many Mods. Two, even fewer bump their request threads daily. Three, I'm not going to be placing extra steps onto our volunteer Mods to do their duties.
