Farkas accepted the keys from Kasia first, then June. He had only been to her apartment twice before, and both times had been shortly after she joined the pack. He still remembered the way, but was not sure what to expect when they got there. No, all he could do was slide into the driver seat and fit the key in the ignition. With the soft repetitive beep going off, waiting for him to start the car, he turned to give Kasia a gentle touch. He found her curled up against the door.
When she pulled away, it felt like a punch to the gut. However, Farkas put all his effort in keeping his face neutral. Angry as he was, what Kasia was going through likely ate at her. He would make her tell him what she was thinking, then do his best to make it better. But, only when she was ready.
Luckily, it was easy to stay calm. Being in Kasia's car made it so he could only smell her scent, wrapped around him like a blanket. It left him feeling a kind of calm, let him simply turn the key and start the car, his eyes on what he was doing. And, as they started to drive, he focused on the road. Let his mind empty in that way you could only do when you had something monotonous, muscle memory replacing any thought. He did make a mess of Kasia's seat and mirrors, having to adjust them repeatedly to match his height, but otherwise he entered an empty space and let the anger leave him.
He missed a turn or two, his empty mind not exactly doing the best job of remembering directions, but it was still less than thirty minutes away. No one in the pack wanted to live further from the house than that. When they finally slowed to a stop in a parking space, Farkas had managed to become the normal wolf again. Soft and sweet, especially when Kasia was involved. He was no closer to forgiving his Alpha, but he was unlikely to lash out again any time soon.
He had no idea what Kasia had thought about in the silence that had followed them here, but she seemed well aware that they had arrived. So, he went to retrieve the bag and beer from the back of the car. Now that he was here, calm, the beer felt stupid. Neither of them liked to drink it. He had just wanted to take alcohol with him, part out if spite and the other from a desire to forget. Now, he remembered that was not who he was. In the end, he left the beer in the trunk.
Wearing only a pair of sweats, a t-shirt, and shoes without socks, he felt a little silly. Like they were going into a hotel after some kind of wild night. It was partially true, he supposed. He moved to the other side of the car to wait for Kasia, wanting nothing more than to feel her skin against his. So, despite her recoiling before, he took her hand as soon as she was out of the car, wrapping her small one in his much larger fingers.
Thankfully, the keys for June's apartment were marked with a helpful number. 203. That meant they had a single flight of stairs to go up. Even so, Farkas took the elevator. Kasia was probably exhausted at this point. After everything that he had done, and immediately after...
He forced those thoughts out of his head, let the small space drown him in Kasia's scent again, now so dominated by his own that he could barely detect any other wolf. All he would think about was this tiny creature beside him, how much he loved her.
The door to the apartment proved to be a bit of a pain, with Farkas having to give up holding Kasia's hand in order to jam the key in the lock and twist hard. But, it came open with a little sound of protest. And inside was something that surprised him. Pastels, as far as the eye could see. Iris had always been a bit rougher, more on the punk side. June, it seemed, loved embracing a more traditional kind of femininity. Light blue walls, pink carpets, furniture patterned with flowers, pillows shaped like animals, all of it was much different than the woman he knew. None of it mattered, of course. He just could not keep the surprise off his face.
Pulling Kasia along, he let her to the couch, tossing the bag of clothes to the side. Pushing a cat head pillow to the side, Farkas sank into it, and before Kasia could protest, dragged her down into his lap.
"Talk to me, Sia. What are you thinking about?"
