“Why are you linking me to another post? Why not just put your request thread here???”
Well, dear reader, it’s because my request thread is long enough that, to edit it as one singular post is a massive pain in the ass. I’ve instead broken it up into more manageable chunks.
“Why not just do that here???”
Simple, a main function of a request thread is the ability to “bump” it back up to the top of the forum when you are ready to find new partners, posting a little bit of text in the thread to do so. To prevent people having to click back to the first page to actually see your request threads instead of just a wall of your bump posts, the first post is always stickied to the top. This is great if your request thread is one post, but you can’t sticky multiple posts, so any posts after the first one will be buried if you post enough bump posts.
By linking to another thread that I don’t have to bump, nothing gets buried. Instead, I just bump this post with a link to my full request thread. This has the added benefit of me only having to edit one post to add new ideas that I want to advertise both in the on site request thread, and the off site request thread, as both links lead to the same place.
