Condoms, or the Lack Thereof, in Play

I remember having one completed roleplay that did involve condoms and the different realistic avenues to explore if it broke. Risk of pregnancy, pregnancy, etc. I am fine without them or with them.

I just thought this would be interesting to bring up and get opinions on…

One thing I’ve noticed in my nearly two decades of doing ERP is that when it comes to erotic scenes, prophylactics are almost never brought up. It’s never a real issue or concern, the woman rarely encourages her partner to put one on, or he doesn’t really stop to think about it.

I’m wondering if this is partly because given that RP is a fantasy, condoms are inherently less sexy, just as with porn and the rarity of rubbers in those films. Is it the pregnancy risk? The appeal of creampies? The notion that these characters, whoever they may be, wouldn’t bother with such things before fucking each other’s brains out?
I just don't like them lol. I don't like them irl or in my RP. I have to deal with them irl, but I don't have to in my RP so I don't.

Pregnancy risk is fun in RP too. Not so fun irl though!

Overall I like condoms and the opportunity they can bring as long as it isn't expected that everything around them is written out in detail every single time.

For example writing as a shy guy who goes into the store and blushes red like a tomato when the woman at the cash out winks at him is fun or could even be a setup for something later on.

Or the asshole who starts to have sex with condom on but pulls it off as soon as they switch to doggy.

The box of condoms that the wife finds in MC's car even though they never use condoms when they have sex.

Just like any other tool, condoms are just that, another tool I sometimes use to create a scene or setting.
