LFG for Shonen Inspired Squad RP [4/4]

Hello! With the monstrous success of my last thread in this section, pun intended, I have decided to make another! For this one I was hoping to do a shonen styled setting where our characters would all be part of a squad together similar to the squads from Naruto, with one teacher and three students. I am however no looking for this to be a fandom roleplay. That being said, that means we will likely have to flesh out the setting and how the powers work together but I have confidence that we will be able to work out something that we can all get on board with c:

Some other things to keep in mind. I want this roleplay to take place over Conversation. This has been successful with my other group roleplay and so I think it is worth emulating with this one as well. Secondly I am personally only comfortable with MxF, FxF, FxFuta relationships though am open to any other two partners engaging with whatever sort of relationship they are interested in. Anything else can be negotiated I think.

So if this sounds like something you might be interested in, then please feel welcome to join me for discussion! I look forward to hearing from you c:

Let's see... Gonna start with just a name and powers, since the world is still unformed and vague.

Trish Roughhouse, AKA Trinity
Trinity is capable of self-duplication, with up to three copies (total) of herself at any given moment. She is also able to adjust her form to some degree-most notably, she's been able to steadily modify her own body to become stronger and more resilient. She's just hit the ability to lift a car, and can take punishment approximately as well too.

I mean I think with a magical transform the idea is the the transform is the same, the is a degree of uniformity, the only time you usually done see it is when one is a solo? I we talking about a random hodge podge of beetleborgs, power rangers, sailor's and card captors?

@Cuchulainn Yeah, I think that is what we are leaning towards. Instead of full teams like the beetleborgs or power rangers, it would be individuals getting powers and then being overseen by the organization and put together in squads to help them learn the ropes and thrive.

@Lord_Red In the spirit of the typical shonen, I was imagining that "magic/mana" would function as the ki/chakra/nen in our roleplay and so our characters were intended to get more powerful naturally and so you don't need to make one of Trinity's powers enhanced strength if you don't want to. Of cours she could just have greater strength on top of the strength boost from her mana if that is what you want c:

Fair! If we're going more in that shonen style, then yee, I guess the boosted physicality ain't needed.

Imma be keeping the modifiable nature, though!

So I have three possible characters:

Blue Devil - An Instructor for the Organization, oft trusted with the charge of young hopefuls. Has a robust physicality as well as being capable of conjuring blue flames that burn mana and so are effective against magical beasts.

Star Bunnie - A relatively new magical girl on the scene that wields a large axe. Can use the star in her axe to fly both short and long distances. (Alt angle)

Angel Pop - Another new magical girl known for her friendly demeanour and healing abilities. Carries a mace for those times when she has to join the action though she tries to avoid using it whenever she can.

I'm still very lost in what's going on, where is the magical transformation? do the characters need to have a magical transformation? Because if not and I'm understanding it right what we've agreed on is "People have powers"?

Yeah, they transform. I've just provided refs for the transformed states of my potential characters and didn't state anything about the transformation in the description of their powers because I figured that was a given considering wr already established it is a magical girl/sentai setting

Hrmmmm, if we're not going with a specific theme in mind for the character transformations, I'm just trying to think and lowball ideas here. Maybe something about a person's psyche/desires/personality impacts their transformation? Like I'm trying to explain. Someone with a more analytical mind and/or a fan of robots and mecha could obviously go a sort of power armor/mech route, while someone more suited to compassion, or helping others, would obviously be more along the lines of a traditional magical girl?

I'm imagining that the ability to change is obviously quite rare, or something along those lines. I'm certainly not the decider though but I am just offering brainstorming suggestions.

I don't see why that certainly wouldn't be true for some people for sure, though I could also see the opposite being true, where someones powers reflect the opposite of their personality in order to help them overcome some sort of personal issue. Like if someone deals with a lot of shame, their transformation could have them dressed in a skimpy outfit in order to challenge them to be more confident. I don't think it has to be one way or the other though. I think some powers can work this way and others another way.

That does bring up another question though. Do we want powers to start once transformation is achieved or should there be signs that a person has potential before they are able to transform? I could see there being a Magical School, kinda like in My Hero Academia, for those who have shown or manifested magical senses or something like that, which could eventually evolve into a magical transformation, at least for those who come across their powers naturally.

Yeah! Like I said, mostly just... throwing out my own ideas and seeing what might work for people, or if it doesn't pass the vibe check.

Hrmm, I can go either way on there being prior signs. I think if there's some sort of academy or at least group that trains/organizes/works with them, that there might be ways to detect or at least find people who have a high chance of being able to do the thing.

That is what I was thinking too, in regards to there being a way to detect or find people who have a chance of being able to transform c:
