His Pet (Friend in the shadows and Savvi)

"I'm not hungry. Had a burger after work. Not healthy but I'm not concerned. Go ahead and chow down." Karl replied as he removed the kettle from the stove. Placing two teabags in a near by pot, he poured in the water and when to work for her coco, leaving the tea to steep.

First, he poured a small amount of milk onto a saucer. On a second plate, he scooped the rim trim, which looked like coarse sugar, out of the box. Turning one of the cups upside down, he placed in on the milk plate and spun it a few times. Then he repeated the process the second plate, causing the sugar to stick to the lip of the cup. Finally, Karl poured a large glass of milk into a second cup, microwaved it for about a minute, then poured the now warm milk into the first cup. Grabbing a fresh spoon, he heaped three servings of the chocolate powder into the cup, stirring it until dissolved.

"Finished. Drink up."

(I'm not kidding on this amount of work either. It takes this long to make one cup.)

Crystal watched him for a long time before she shrugged. Well, if he was going to offer, she wasn't going to turn food down again. She walked over to the fridge as she rumaged through and found a carten of chinese food. She picked it up and opened it as she shut the fridge door.

She didn't take the time to get a fork, or warm it up, she stuck her hand into it, and began to eat it from her hands. Licking her fingers as she did, and not making a mess. she had the small box of food finished by the time he was finished. Her ears perked as she threw away the carten and reached out for the coco.

((Seems a lot of work just to have a cup of coco))

After passing the cup of rich, bubbling liquid to her, Karl turned his attention back to the teapot. In a few seconds, his hands held a hot beverage to match Crystal's.

"Crystal, if you don't mind me asking, why are you out on the streets?" Karl asked as the faint waif of mint filled his nose.

(yeah but it's so worth it. *laughs*)

Crystal took the coco and her tail wagged hard enough to tap against the cabiets. She took small sips of the heated liquid and her body melted with a warmth she had forgotten exsisted. She took a few more sips as she watched him make his tea.

When he asked the question of why she was out on the streets, her heart sank a little. Her ears flattened against her head. She thought maybe she could come up with a good lie, but decided the truth was best.

"Well, my mom and I got into a fight, so I left. I figured I'd just hitch a ride to hollywood or something and make a living or become famous, needless to say that didn't work out and I ended up back here. In the streets of a big city. When I got to where my mom lived, it was empty. They must have packed up and moved. So I didn't have anywhere to go, but the streets, it was summer then, so I thought i'd be okay and it was actually kind of fun at first." She admitted. "But during the winters I don't think its so much fun."

"No, winters are a bitch." He replied then remembered her features. "Sorry. I hope I didn't offend you." He added quickly. Karl stood there for a moment, his thoughts his own before he spoke again.

"I'm sorry for upsetting you. I just found it odd for a pretty thing like you to be shivering on a lonely street corner. I'd have thought that you'd have a boyfriend to stay with or something." He said, moving away from the kitchen towards the couch.

Crystal's ears flicked up as she followed him into the living room. She let out a giggle.

"No offense taken." She said as she drank the warming coco that felt like lava through her veins. "I don't have a boyfriend. I mostly hide in my blanket so that no body bothers me." She admitted.

"Hmm." Karl replied as he sat down, not really sure what to say in response to her openness. Slowly his mind was thinking about what options lay before him regarding this young girl. He sat in silence, wondering what to say to keep their conversation going. She was pleasing to speak to, a nice refreshing break from most people he encountered in his day.

Finally he made a simple statement: "When your tired, you can take the bed for the night. I'll sleep out here. You look like you could do with a decent nights rest."

Crystal sat on the couch as she crossed her legs. She blinked as she shook her head. "Oh, no no no, I'm much too smelly to stay on the bed. I'll just sleep here on the couch. It nice enough for me."

She said as she finished off her drink with a tired yawn.

"Don't be silly. The sheets will wash and you need a good nights rest. What ever your plans are for tomorrow, being fully rested will help you to decide. Besides, I'm not tired yet. Just worn out." He replied, running his hand threw his hair. Karl found his eyes wandering to Crystals' legs, wondering if they were as smooth as they looked. He also started to wonder about the rest of her body. He didn't have any real experience with anthro's; only second hand stories and bad jokes. He wondered what truth he could gleam from this young dog girl. And what pleasures.

Crystal watched him as her ears twitched. "Ar-are ya sure?" She asked. "You sure are being awefully nice." She reasoned as she looked at him. She rubbed the side of her head, which caused a slight twitch in her foot. "You know I don't have anything to pay you back with, right?" She asked as she stood up.

"I know. Go. This won't be the first time I've passed out here." He replied, rolling his head around several times to loosen the kink in his neck. "The beds nothing special. Wood frame, box spring and mattress. The blankets are warm. You should be comfortable." He added, letting out a yawn of exhaustion.

"The bathrooms on the right just before the bedroom. In case you need to..." he made a hand gesture to finish the last part of his sentence.

"Yeah, I know what a bathroom is for, thanks." She said as she turned and headed towards the bedroom. She walked over and sat on the bed, bouncing a little before she crawled herself inbetween the sheets and blankets. They were warm, and she felt herself drifting into sleep very quickly.

Karl sat on the couch for a few minutes, his mind straightening out this evenings events. It took the rest of the pot of tea before he finally believed what he was about to do was correct.

Rising slowly, he walked towards the hall closet, hanging up his coat and pulling out a half discarded tangle of rope from an old hanging flower pot which had never really lived. Setting it down on the table, he began to undo all the knots it held. Once finished, he looked it over. 'Small and not very thick, but it should do.' He thought as he walked towards the bed room.

Once he was sure Crystal was in a deep dream, he quietly and carefully started to bind her left wrist, making sure it was neither too tight as to cause discomfort and cause her to wake, yet firm enough that she would have to have help removing it. After quick double loop around the inside wooden post frame, he repeated the process on her right wrist.

'I'll let her sleep for the rest of the night. When she wakes up in the morning, we can have a little talk.' He thought as he looked down at the sleep form before him.

Crystal was so tired, and so full that she hadn't noticed anything Karl had done to her. She slept peacefully for the rest of the night, before he ears perked up in the morning. She could still feel heat radiating through her, but she couldn't move her arms, this caused her to believe that she was dead.

Her eyes flickered open as she looked around. Was she dead? She couldn't remember.

Karl walked softly into the room, a cup of coffee in his hand. "Morning little one. Did you sleep well?" He said as he sipped from his cup. "You looked really peaceful laying there, so I decided to let you sleep all night before we had a conversation. You can try to move your arms if you want, but it won't get you any where." He paused to wait for her reply, knowing she would be terrified at her situation.

Her eyes went wide with fear as she began to pull and struggle at her wrists. She began to whine before she turned and looked at him with flattened ears. "Talk about what?" She asked before adding "I trusted you!"

Karl moved to sit by her side before starting to speak. "I've been think a lot about what we talked about yesterday. It seems to me that you are in a real bad spot, and I'm not talking about being tied up in a bed." He paused to let his hand rest on her stomach before continuing on.

"I could untie you, but then I'd just be kicking you out the front door, and you would be back on the streets like last night. You've managed to survive this long, but you're luck can't hold out forever. Either you will end up in a ditch, starved and frozen to death; or some pimp will come around and force you to work for him: made to fuck anyone he says, strung out on drugs to keep you quiet, and he might knock you around just for the fun of it."

She wiggled about nervously. Her busy tensed as he touched her. She wasn't sure what he was getting at, but she also wasn't sure that she wanted to know. She stared at him as she tried to free herself, pulling roughly at her bonded hands.

"I'll take my chances." she reasoned.

"You're brave, but not smart. You haven't eaten anything fresh in days, you sleep in filth and tattered cloths. It's a wonder you haven't gotten sick. Do you honestly believe that you will live through the winter? It's the coldest one on record and it's just started!" Karl moved away from the bed and walked back over to his coffee.

"I noticed how much you missed the warmth of a building. The feel of heat pouring over your skin. Wouldn't you rather stay in a nice place like this than continue fighting for every second of life?" He asked, staring down at her as he drank from his cup.

Crystal's ears flattened against her head as she listened to his words. Her wrists were beginning to be rubbed red from her struggling. She stared at him a long time before she looked away.

"I can't stay in an apartment with anyone, I have no job. So i wouldn't be able to pay my share in the rent. People don't hire my kind very often. Not to mention, did you ever think that maybe I happen to like living as I do?" She questioned. "I just had a rough night, but I'm sure I could find a shed or something to stay the winter in." She reasoned.

"No one could like not being sure where the next meal will come from." Karl replied plainly as he set the empty cup back down. "As for finding a shed to stay in: if a church isn't willing to take a pretty thing like you in on the coldest night so far, who would allow you to stay on their private property? The police aren't interested in the plight of the homeless, your family doesn't care about your whereabouts."

Moving back to her side, he kneeled down to continue speaking. "You don't have many options open to you, so I'm going to offer you one. Stay here, as my pet." He said simply, looking at the lovely form straining to break away from the ropes.

Crystal could feel her face flush at his words. She struggled even harder as they sank in, and she began to kick her feet about as well, almost like a child throwing a temper tantrum. She trashed about crazily as she yelled.

"Just because I resemble an animal, doesn't make me one!" She exclaimed as she fought the ropes. "I'm not a pet, I'm a person!" She said, although she was greatly weak from being in the cold weather, and she was already starting to grow exhausted.

"I know it's not fair how other people look and treat you, and I know you don't believe me when I say that I'm trying to look out for you. But I am. Like I said, I can untie you and let you leave, but you'll never be able to convince anyone about what happened here. People will just ignore you and think you made the whole thing up." Karls' hand lightly scratched behind Crystals' ear as he spoke.

"The choice is yours to make. Stay and live comfortably, or leave and die horribly. If you do stay, I'll treat you nice: buy you new clothes to wear, let you eat hot meals, have the privacy of a bathroom. Is that not better than freezing your tush off in the snow?"

She stiffened as he scratched behind her ear. She watched him carefully as she seemed thoughtful. He was right. No one else would help her, and if anything she could just stay here to the winter and easily slip away. He'd have to leave her alone to go to work after all.

She began to calm down as she gave a soft nod and quietly murmured. "Fine... we'll see how things work out." she reasoned. "but I still say I have the right to go whenever I please." She said.

"I guess that's a start. We'll see how you feel after you've had a hot bath." Karl replied, reaching forward and untying the rope from her wrists. Noticing the bruising, he quickly apologized. "Sorry, I didn't think that the rope would hurt you that quick. A good long soak in a fresh bath will do you wonders." He added as he rose from the bed.

"I'll wash your clothing, even though we need go shopping for something warmer for you to wear. And a decent coat as well. Can't walk around outside without a coat and hat and gloves now can we?"
