Caught [M.Panda + Hahvy]

Alister had to admit to himself that he enjoyed the feeling of her on him, and indeed, the feeling of her just being around. When she moved to look at his foot, he watched as she pulled the splinter out, only setting his jaw at the pain. It did hurt like hell, that’s what happened when you slam your toe into a hunk of wood. He was about to examine it for himself before she pounced back on top of him. She had firm weight to her. He liked that. He imagined that she had some power to her body if she wished to employ it.

Alister’s legs came up and his thighs clamped her hips and used them to throw her further into the water, before reaching out and snatching his glasses back from her. “Mine” He set them on his head like she had done, because they were wet, and would have only obstructed his vision. He ran his fingers through the front part of his wet, blond hair, sticking it straight up.

“I knew you would be trouble.” He smiled slightly, sitting just at the edge of the surf, his knees bent and arms resting gently on his knees.

She squeaked and was soon tossed back into the water. She coughed and laughed, which just made the coughing worse until she finally settled down- the sunglasses stolen from her hair. Oh well, they were his. Swiping some of her hair from her eyes, she sat down next to him and kept her giggle to herself as his hair stuck up in the hair in just the front. It looked funny with sand in it. But she had liked the way he felt beneath her, and how he seemed more...approachable with a smile and laugh having been shared between them. This was some of the things she lived for.

"Yup. Jared says that's all I am."

She grinned, thinking of all the hell she had given her foster father. But he loved her and put up with her because she was what he needed: Someone who was there and didn't want anything from him that he couldn't give. He had saved her and so she had lessened with her antics over the years to cut him some slack. But it had been really hard in the beginning...very hard.

Alister turned to her, breaking his graze from the horizon. “Jared. He’s your foster father, right?” He bit at his bottom lip slightly. “Sorry. I did my homework about you. I hope you don’t mind. It was a reaction to the…situation.” He turned and looked back out to the horizon. At least Jared wasn’t her boyfriend. That would have made their little horse-play in the water and sand a bit awkward in retrospect.

Alister thought back about his own family. All his life he had everything he could ever need. He was sure that she couldn’t say the same thing. But it seems that she has landed in a good place. Despite the fact that she was blackmailing him, he was happy for her. After all, she wasn’t doing anything humiliating to him. Not yet anyway.

"Yeah..he is. It would be nice if he was my real dad, but it is what it is."

She stretched and wiped off some of the sand from her arms and clothes as she remembered some of the marks she used to get before she landed in Jared's care. And some of the marks his ex-wife had left before she died. She kept wrist bands around her wrists to hide the scars and her others were on various but hidden places. No one knew about that. And they wouldn't unless she told them. It was a reason why she'd stayed away from relationships and boyfriends. Dates were okay, but they usually never worked out. Mostly because of her.

"He's not so bad. And his son is adorable. Max is his name and he's about four."

She smiled as she thought about them.

“Well, as long as he treats you like a true father should, it shouldn't matter right?” he asked, giving her a slight, assuring smile. He turned back to the water again, before tugging at the wet shirt that clung to his chest. It was then that he realized that he was completely soaked, and covered in sand. Soaked was okay, but the sand was annoying. It was on his face, in his hair.

After taking off his sunglasses, Alister threw them up onto the dry sand of the beach where they wouldn't get washed out to sea. He stood up then, and walked out into the deeper water before laying down and swimming out just to where the water came up to his knees when he stood. “Come in. You're already soaked, you might as well get the sand off of you,” he said with a slight exhale of a laugh. Then he dunked his head under water, scrubbing the sand out of it before bringing it out quickly and brushing the wet hair back so the water didn't drain into his eyes.

His clothes stuck to him even more now, so he pulled loose his tie and unbuttoned the first two buttons of his shirt. Now it didn't feel like his shirt was shrink-wrapping around his body.

"Yeah, true."

She murmured in response, shrugging her shoulders a moment as she considered what he said. It had never really mattered once Jared had shown he was capable of taking care of her, but sometimes when she zoned out, she remembered what it had been like when she had first moved in with him. It wasn't his fault that his wife had gone crazy. She saw him tug his shirt and grinned to herself. He was all drenched in ocean water and so was she, but she wouldn't have any other way. Well, maybe she would without the being soaked part. Oh second thought, nah, she wouldn't.

She watched Alister get up and then swim a little bit and she wouldn't help but laugh before she shook her head and stood up as well. She made like she was gonna just walk into the water and rinse off but then she ran at him and pounced him into the water in a premeditated manner. She laughed hysterically before she swam away and got rid of the sand on her body, knowing he had been taken totally off guard.

He really hadn't seen it coming, not until it was too late, anyway. He reached out and grabbed her around her core as they fell back into the water, making a large splash. After letting go of her he turned in the water and stood again, slicking back his hair once more. “You're worse than a cat, you know that?” he laughed, almost bewilderedly. Once she had cleaned herself off, too he took note of the way her own clothes clung to body.

“So what now?” he asked, the smiles and the laughter gone from his face, but not forgotten. Alister was the kind of guy you'd never hear him complain about his facial muscles hurting from smiling. Such things were short lived. But, again, he found himself admitting that he was enjoying himself. He hadn't actually spent time with another human being for the purpose of enjoying each other's company for a very long time. He had no friends, and certainly didn't have a girlfriend. And yet, this girl who was blackmailing him was showing him a good time. Everything was so very confusing the the young man at the moment.

She gave him a Cheshire grin as he called her worse than a cat and kicked water at him playfully before she stood up and pushed her hair out of her face. Her hair had maintained gentle curls, but a lot of her hair at straightened due to the water, especially at the tips. She sighed and yawned a moment as she stood up and stretched herself out, enjoying the popping of her spine. She shrugged as she put her hands on the back of her head and started to walk out of the water, humming a little.

"I'm not sure. The beach trip was kind of all I had in mind. I don't even know what time it is. Buuut, I'm starving."

Her stomach rumbled just loud enough to give evidence to her hunger and she laughed, covering her tummy before she looked up at him and shrugged. He wasn't smiling or laughing now, but she knew a smile was just waiting beneath the surface. He didn't smile enough as far as she was concerned. She knew she confused him- but that was just how she was. She found that she wanted to turn his world upside-down and make him see there were better things in life instead of money and titles.

"I have spare clothes in my car and some towels. I think I still have some of my dad's clothes in there and you two have roughly the same build. He has a little more bulk and is a few inches taller, but there's a belt in there just in case."

She grabbed her shoes and socks and headed towards the car, dripping water as she did so.

Alister nodded when she said that she was hungry. He was, too. He wondered if she would make him pay, but it didn't really matter. He was her little toy, right?

Whenever she said about her father's clothes being in the car, too, he almost thought that it seemed too convenient, and may have been premeditated. Like she'd planned to get soaking wet with him down here at the beach, and that he was playing perfectly into her little game. The thought made him angry. He didn't want to be anyone's tool. But what was he going to do. For a moment he thought that he could just walk away and she wouldn't really have the heart to turn him in, and that he could find a way to get out of it if she did. But now, he wasn't sure. He could have been reading her wrong, but it seemed that she had put a lot of thought into this whole thing. 'The beach trip was kind of all I had,' was probably a lie. He imagined that she had everything planned out perfectly. Even if she didn't it would be safe to go one thinking this. He wasn't going to underestimate her, even if he did turn out to just be paranoid. It had never let him down before.

When they got back to the car, he pulled his tie off and rang it out, “So how is this whole changing of clothes thing going to work.” He looked around, maybe for a bathroom for just such a thing, but he didn't see anything.

"You're thinking too much."

She warned lightly as she stepped up to the car and unlocked it. She popped the trunk and rifled through a few bags that had various things in them until she spotted her clothes. She had to rifle through all six bags until she came up with clothes for Alister. She tried to keep her stuff organized, but she was kind of messy. She produced two towels that were a little rumpled and tossed one at him. She toweled herself off as much as she could before wrapping the towel about her frame. She didn't have an extra bra or underwear so she would either have to make due or go commando. Since her panties were soaked and would take awhile to dry, she voted on commando. It was better than having a wet stain on her dry pants. She rummaged for a pair of socks by found a pair of Nike flip-flops that had the strap going across rather than between her toes. She hated those kind of sandals. She stretched a moment before she motioned to Alister.

"Well, we can either change right here or in the car. I prefer not to be caught with indecent exposure, but I've undressed and dressed in public with a towel on before."

She gave him a small grin that spoke volumes. She skipped to go to the beach often and that was why she even had spare clothes in her car. You never knew when she would feel like going to the beach.

Alister took the bag of clothes that were her father's and leaned against the rear fender. “We can change in the car, I guess. I'll go after you. He turned away from her, looking back out to the water to let her know that he wouldn't peep on her. That wouldn't have been very mature of him, although very human. Setting the bag down between his feet he crossed his arms over his chest and would wait.

"All righty then."

She slipped into the car and settled herself in the back seat. Jesslyn kept the towel beneath her butt to keep her seats dry as she stripped off her wet shirt and pants. She sat in a purple bra with green underwear that was bikini styled. She didn't care if she matched most of the time since who was gonna know she wore it besides herself? Wiggling off her underwear, she put it on the part of the towel her other wet clothes were. Scars littered her thighs and along her ribs, but they were old and faded. She smoothed a hand down her stomach to get off the sand that hadn't come off when she had swam in the ocean, brushing her fingers over a tribal sun tattoo that encircled her belly button. She had gotten it almost a year ago, if she remembered right. She wondered briefly if Alister would.....she tossed that thought right out the window as she shook out her pants and shirt. Slipping off her bra, she dried it off on the towel as best she could before sliding it back on and hooking it.

It was awkward getting dressed in the car, but she was used to the awkwardness and navigated it pretty well. She shucked her pants on, wiggling and shuffling to get them on before they were fully on. She buttoned them and zipped them before slipping her belt around her waist and putting her wallet and phone in the appropriate pockets. She had a missed call from Jared, which was odd but she would figure it out when she got back to the school. She pulled on her Five Finger Death Punch band shirt and smoothed out her hair as best she could and fixed up her make up a little before she slide out of the car still bare foot and chucked her wet clothes into the trunk.

"You're up."

When he heard the door close he managed to focus on the water for a good time until movement caught his attention in the corner of his eye. His head turned and stared right into the side view mirror as Jess was pulling off her bra. His eyes grew wide and his Adam's Apple bobbed as he swallowed hard. Part of his screamed to look away, and the rest of him, the masculine parts of him, wanted to do more than just stare.

Eventually, through, he tore himself away, and gnawed nervously at his lip. That didn't help his conflicted emotions about her at all. Great. He turned further away, his back to the mirror, and rubbed his temple. “Wow,” he said in a whisper to himself. He jumped when he heard the door close and reached down to grab the bag. “That was quick,” was all he could say as he walked by her.

In the car, he pulled out his wet wallet and set it on the tow beside him before undoing his belt and pulling down his pants and his boxer-briefs. The underwear he found int the bag were too large, and he really didn't want to wear another man's underwear. It was a guy thing. The pants he found were one size too large, but his belt would solve that problem. They were long enough, too. He pulled them on, arching his back up off of the seat and pushing his up towards the roof. After that was the shirt, which, to his dismay was a shirt that said, 'My other body has a six pack.' Alister shook his head and mumbled, “Seriously?” He put it on, just the same, and found that it was a little too big. Not like the fitted shirt he was so use to wearing. The fact that the sleeves were short felt odd, too. Like his upper arms were naked. He got out of the car barefooted, too.

“Your dad seriously owns this shirt?” he asked, pointing to the words on his chest. Alister himself wasn't ripped, but he had fit abs.

"Yup."

She broke into a fit of giggles at the way he looked, practically doubling over. He looked so uncomfortable in casual dress but it made him look more approachable and realistic- not like a ghostly businessman. She walked up to him and styled his hair without any other words, just went to work styling it in a way that she thought looked the best. She gave him some spikes while pushing it back a little and letting some of the hair do it's own thing. It was a messy but stylish look and he looked almost...Stepping back with a forced grin, she spoke.

"There. Now we can go get something to eat. We can either walk to the diner just down the beach or go drive around for something. Though, you probably haven't been to the diner. It's really nice and the food is so good. It's real food and made for real people, none of that low-cal shit."

She reached into the car as she talked and grabbed her pack of smokes and lit up, taking a puff as the wind swirled around them. It took her cigarette smoke with it as it sailed away across the ocean.

Alister huffed and crossed his arms whenever she laughed at him, leaning back against the car. When she reached up to mess with his hair, he felt her chest brush up against them. It brought thoughts of the recent sight he saw back for a short moment as she worked on styling her hair. She smelled like ocean water now, mixed with the sent of her cigarettes. He kind of liked the smell, to be honest. It was earthy and free. When she was done he resisted the urge to run his fingers through it and part it like he always wore it. He didn't want to upset her. But for all he knew she could have made him look like a fool.

“I don't care what we do. I don't mind walking, the diner sounds fine. I don't eat out much, like ever... Heh,” he scratched the side of his neck slightly. “But, um, will your car be okay here?” he asked, jerking a thumb at the Camaro he was leaning on. He had no idea what kind of history the beach-front had for auto-theft. It was a really nice car after all. But it was up to her, he didn't own it, and maybe it was safe.

"Believe it or not, people know it's my car. It's safe."

She smiled and made sure to roll up the windows and lock it up. It wasn't smart to leave it unlocked regardless of if anyone knew her. She didn't want someone reaching in and taking her electronics. She slipped on her flip-flops, having left her sneakers in the back of her car. She could have walked barefoot into the diner, but she didn't feel like it in case Bonny- the newest waitress to be hired- had dropped a cup or plate again. The girl was good at remembering orders and tables, but she was a little clumsy. Thankfully, she had a very gentle personality and a lovely smile. She wasn't gorgeous, but she was adorable. She took a drag from her cigarette as she looked at Alister.

"Well, to the diner then!"

She motioned for him to follow and started to walk on down the sidewalk towards the diner. She smoked as she walked and hummed a little to herself, watching the ocean waves crash against the shores. She made sure that Alister was close to her and she felt strangely safe in his presence- despite their circumstance. She knew he didn't trust her, and why should he? She was technically blackmailing him. But he didn't know she would never release that information. It was kind of harsh what she was doing, but it seemed like the only way to get him to loosen up and actually have fun.

Alister slipped his shoes on, without the socks. They were comfortable enough that way, but he probably wouldn't want to walk more than a mile like this. he soon got into step with her. It was a habit, that just happened innately. He mused that that would look funny walking in perfect harmony with each other. He also imagined that this would have been a nice date. So why couldn't she have asked him out? Namely because he would have probably said no. He didn't know her, hadn't even really seen her around school. There weren't many if any kids from school that he knew by name. It was kind of pathetic that the closest thing he had to a friend was currently blackmailing him on a felony.

Alister looked down to his feet then. 'Wow, that really is sad, isn't it?' he thought to himself. He didn't say anything the rest of the walk. Her presence was always on his mind, however. Like the way she walked, the way her curled hair blew with the salty sea air. This was the first time that Alister wasn't sure what to think. What was right to think, at any giving moment. Ever since they met yesterday, logic had taken a back seat, and it didn't seem to be anywhere close to calling shotgun.

She was wondering what was going through Alister's mind. He seemed content yet unsettled- some of which she knew why. Why was she being nice? Why wasn't she just asking for money and leaving him alone? Why wasn't she doing this and that and this? She wasn't a normal person and didn't go about things in the normal way. She wanted to drop the ruse of holding the information over his head, but maybe she would once Monday came around. It wasn't like she was an evil bitch- she couldn't keep it up forever. Perhaps she was going soft as some of her old friends would have said as well as some at school. But she didn't really care. She could be what she wanted and today, she supposed, she was pretending that Alister and her were on an actual date and having a good time even though it wouldn't lead to anything. It was nice to play pretend sometimes.

"You should smile more."

Jesslyn said suddenly without stopping or looking at him. She said it as a suggestion and a soft smile on her own lips as she saw the lights of the diner. They were probably a few minutes away. She stopped and looked both ways to cross the street. There weren't many cars driving around right now so crossing the street was easy. She walked across the street and made sure he stayed beside her. She didn't feel like having him out of her sight. It was a strange sensation that settled in her belly. She couldn't control it and just decided it was because she was hungry and not because was developing any sort of feelings for Alister.

Alister shook his head slightly, “Is that so? What should I smile about?” he asked, and grinned just slightly. Maybe he was just teasing her with that, or maybe it was genuine. Alister walked beside her as they crossed the street, keeping in step with her perfectly. One hand moved into the pocket of his jeans and the other swung slightly at his side as he walked. Even with his slight limp, it was easy for him to keep up, and keep step. He couldn't wait to get to the diner, ever step he took he grew hungrier. It was just psychological, he knew. Like getting closer to the bathroom whenever you have to go. But that didn't change the fact that he was starving.

He was trying to think of what to order, too. He wasn't a big eater, really. Needing to make himself dinner every night; you would think that he would develop some kind of culinary skills. This wasn't the case, really. Nights he didn't order out he went out, or just ate whatever he could find in the fridge. And so, he wondered what exactly she would think of him if he just ordered a hamburger. That sounded good. A big hamburger with all of the dressings, some fries, maybe a side of cowl slaw. Damn, he was getting hungry.

"I don't know. For spending the day with a debonair woman with unmatchable beauty?"

She kept her face serious and playful for about five seconds before she broke up into a fit of giggles. She didn't believe that at all. She shrugged as she opened the diner door and ushered him inside. She followed behind him before she said hello to all the regulars and the people behind the counter. Some of the girls asked if the boy with her was someone special and she blushed and shook her head, pushing her hands into her pockets. She looked a little embarrassed and it showed in her shy posture.

"The regular table, dear?"

Asked Mary, one of the seasoned waitresses. She was a plump woman with the type of face that would disarm even the most reclusive of people. Her eyes were a chocolaty brown and her hair was a dark blond. She wore an outfit that was a neutral red with a white apron tied around her waist. She wasn't very tall, but she did her job well. Jesslyn smiled and nodded as they walked arm in arm down the row of somewhat empty booths.

Alister rolled his eyes and grinned at her words, then walked behind her as she made her way into the diner. His keen eyes caught her body language, when someone asked about him. That was interesting. He grinned slightly to himself again but stayed quiet. Seeing how most of the regulars and the staff knew her, it was clear that she came here a lot. At least one of them would be comfortable there. He felt quite the opposite. He wasn't used to being around people, save for school. But there, he was invisible. Here, people were looking at him; looking at them both, together.

"Lighten up..."

She murmured, actually looking concerned by his posture. He seemed out of his element and it hadn't been her intention to make him uncomfortable. She was just used to being here a lot since Jared showed her the place years ago. They all knew her like they were best friends. She didn't have many actual friends- even though she was more close to the workers of the diner. She didn't keep people close- why should she? People could be monsters, no matter how nice they appeared.

"Mary, can I have....a large cup of milk with one of the twisty straws? You know what I'm talking about?"

Mary nodded with a grin and an eye roll. She always got the same thing: large milk with a twisty straw, chicken tenders and fries, with a biscuit slathered in garlic butter and an apple. They just made the best food here- even if she only got the same thing she knew that they made excellent food. Though she didn't change her order ever, Jared ordered different things whenever they went out so she knew the place was worth the hype.

"Sure, sugar. I'll get that right up for you. And you, dear?"

She looked at Alister with a gentle look, knowing he was uncomfortable. He seemed out of place and she hoped to help Jesse make him feel right at home.
