『Kodoku no Saibou』(1×1 w/ Jikkah)

"I think I will, yes. We've all had a stressful day today." She replied, brushing smooth her robes, "Good night, Amaya. Please sleep well."

From what she heard, it was the Oni King himself who caused such destruction. He was very powerful, perhaps her talismans didn't effect him like they would have lesser demons and spirits. Regardless, they would need to be redone, and quickly.

Amaya bowed her head to Akihime. “You as well, my lady.” She said.

Jin was glad the Oni King had been stopped before he reached the emperor, moving through the wrecked courtyard carefully, using a simple spell that would allow her to go completely unnoticed by the average man. Jin decided to double the barrier, checking her work over, her golden wheat-colored tails flicking as her fox ears listened intently.

She smiled softly and headed out of the room quietly, shutting the door gently behind her before she made her way to her room.

Eyes were on her, but it was unclear from where. There was a menacing feeling that sat in her wake. It was rather unsettling, considering no one should be able to see her. Was it Mitsunari? No, even with his keen ability to hide himself from spirits, she had the skill required to locate him from anywhere.

The cool night air met Akihime along with the soft calls of bugs in the night, the estate buzzing with a peaceful energy. Amaya listened to Akihime’s footsteps receding on the wooden floors, considering a bath before bed.

Jin didn’t like this one bit, she had gotten too deeply involved in human affairs that she had begun to shirk her duties. Her sharp eyes scanned her surroundings as she cast the barrier, but she could see no one that was even looking at her. This didn’t bode well, something nagged at her in the back of her mind that told her the Oni King had had help getting through the front gates. Regardless, she erected the barriers without a hitch, and once she was done, she returned cooly back toward the palace, tails and ears vanishing once more in a gentle shimmer of light. She would have to remain on guard, look more closely at those within the palace, especially the emperor.

Akihime moved into her room and started her nightly ritual, brushing her long hair out and applying her oils.

As she made her way through the grounds - servants and scholars alike bowing gently to her - she couldn't help but overhear soft whispering through the hall. How the Emperor had begun to look pale and tired.
"From the stress of the Oni King, no doubt," handmaidens shushed firmly, "don't invite such evil."

The quiet sound of Akihime’s bedroom door sliding open let in the sound of the insects outside briefly before the door shut again, the floorboards creaking as someone moved toward her, but there was no malice or animosity detectable in the air. Yukimura’s familiar scent reached Akihime as he embraced her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waste slowly.

Jin listened to all the chatter with a gentle smile, bowing in return to those she encountered along the way. Making her way to her usual station of keeping the emperor and his court entertained.

Akihime relaxed against him, eyes softening as she set her brush down to place her hands over his.
"Come to wish me good night, Yukimura...?"

"Ah, Jin-dono," Mitsunari bowed his head once she entered and situated herself, "thank you for joining us this afternoon."
"It's always lovely to have you grace us." said Yuasa Gosuke, who was always standing in for this mysterious Yoshitsugu. No one had seen or heard from him in decades, but Gosuke was always there to speak for him.
