Batgirl Begins (dbspock/WendyTheRed)

She shrugged at his reply to her revealing her pollen allergy. "It's not like I'll need an epipen for it or something. I'll get, you know, sneezing and coughing and stuff." She nodded to his reply about the showers and realized he'd just told her that Sara used the same showers when she was here. Fair enough. She smiled at him, noticing how he looked his room over a bit nervously then seemed to relax. She recognized that look. Everyone had that same look the first time someone came into their room. 'Did I leave something out? Is it messy?' She was glad to see it really, as sometimes it was easy to view John as very nearly a Spartan soldier or something who was totally out of touch.

She nodded when he agreed and once more felt the urge to explain herself, at least a little bit. "I just didn't want to use your stuff without asking. I didn't want to assume you'd be fine with it." She smiled and stepped into the shower, quickly turning it on and bathing herself with a sigh of pleasure as the hot water washed over her. She very nearly forgot about John and Sara as she lost herself in lathering up and leaning back under the water to rinse herself, taking her time as the hot water felt good on her sore muscles.

She took her time and looked down at her legs, running her fingers over them, pleased to feel no stubble. She was pretty sure John might draw the line at her using one of his razors on her legs after all. That done she leaned up and tilted her head back, soaking her hair. She lifted her hands to run her fingers through her hair then began to lather it with shampoo, closing her eyes and simply enjoying this simple pleasure as steam filled the bathroom.

"I'll tell her that as well." John assured her. He'd been given some latitude as far as training Babs went, at least as far as he understood it. Sara hadn't given him any details, and he had a feeling decision making was one of many things Sara was testing him for, but he didn't think a potential allergy was something he should keep to himself, no matter how innocious it seemed. Besdies if she started sneexing and coughing during a mission, that COULD be deadly. John glanced at Choe as an idea occured to hium. "We should add nose filters to her costume." He declared, and Chloe nodded with agreement.

"I apppreciate that." John aid with a nod. He'd just assumed she would use his stuff as it was all that was available, but the courtesy was apppreciated. This was actually going better than he'd hoped. He jjust hoped Babs felt the same way and wouldn't be lodging some sort of complaint agaisnt him with her boss...or Sara.

As Babs stepped into the shower and emitted her sigh, John just stood there and watched awkwardly for a minute. Was their conversation done? It certainly seemed so, as Babs seemed fully immersed in the shower, but they hadn't established what to do next. John glanced over at Chloe, hoping for some sort of clue, but Chloe seemed intent on studying the blank walls. "Um...right." John finally concluded as Babs began to wash her hair. He didn't need to see that. "We'll...be in the kitchen when your done." He informed her, and glanced over at Chloe who was already heading out the door despite having no idea where the kitchen was. John waited for a moment to see if Babs would acknowledge his statement before he followed Chloe out of the dorm room.

She wouldn't argue about nose filters but she called out. "Claritin works just fine most of the time." She grinned and realized she probably should have just kept her mouth shut about it. She nodded back to John after he replied to her explanation, having no idea John worried she might complain about him since in her mind she had nothing to complain about. She was mostly focusing on not failing the various tests and training and anything John did that was connected to that she tried to take in stride.

"Sounds good. I'll try to hurry." She didn't want to hurry, she was enjoying the hot shower but she didn't want to make them wait and maybe upset John or lose out on more training. She quickly finished up and dried off. She debated wrapping a towel around her hair but decided against it, figuring damp hair would just be something she had to put up with. She made her way out of the room and towards the kitchen, resisting an urge to sneak to that computer room and look the system over.

She waved at the other two as she entered and depending on whether she was expected to make her own food or if some was set out for her already she'd sit down and join them at whatever table they were sitting out. "So, after the snack is there more training or was today all about the physical?" she asked between bites of her food.

"Clairton. Noted." John replied. There was nothing like that in the medical bay...he'd inventoried it enough times to know exactly what and how much of everything they had available, but assuming it wasn't some sort of prescription drug he shouldn't have a problem acquiring some for her...just in case. Sara was notorious about the just in case contingencies. He nodded when she claimed she'd try to hurry...he had no idea if she would or not, or how long a shower she usually took. His showers were usually quick, and so were Sara's...but he had known her to occasionally indulge in a longer shower, and he didn't know if Bab's did the same or not. But he saw no need to check on her unless she took so long he became afraid there was a medical issue.

It was a small enough complex that John heard the shower shut off, and he looked over at the door curiously when Babs walked into the kitchen. He noted that her body seemed to be dry even though she hadn't asked to use his towel...he wondered if she had used it anyway or gone hunting for a fresh one. No big deal either way, he was just curious which option she chose, and made a mental note to check the shower for evidence later.

Chloe was not present in the room at the time Babs entered it, but John returned her wave with a nod. He was at the counter making some sandwiches, and indicated for Babs to take a seat as he brought the plate over to her, setting the peanut butter sandwich down in front of her. "I've found milk goes well with the sandwich...would you like some?" John offered as he returned to the counter and began putting some ice cream in a glass. "Also, Sara showed me how to make a root beer float, and I'm making one for me and Chloe. Would you like one?" He offered, then shrugged at her question. "There's a training exercise I want to put you and Chloe through." He told her. "And we still need to do the blood sample. Other than that...you should probably take a nap before I drop you off at work. I was thinking we'd do some quick training when you got off tomorrow, then send you home for a good nights rest. Don't want you falling asleep while you are driving the shipment."

Something in the way John replied as well as his subtle mispronunciation surprised her. Was he that out of touch? She decided to speak up, just in case. "I can just grab some next time I'm at the grocery store or whatever. But it's really not a big deal." She was regretting mentioning the pollen allergy, she only mentioned it because a pediatrician had once told her that and in hindsight she realized it may have been sarcasm she'd missed out on since almost everyone got allergies in the face of pollen and stuff. Heck, it was on TV most of the time!

She sat at the table and smiled when John brought the plate to her. "Thank you. And yes, milk would be just fine. Good for the bones and all right?" She smiled at him, watching as he put the ice cream into the glass, a bit surprised at the root beer float offer. She had pictured him only eating super healthy stuff but she nodded. "I'd love one, thanks John." She took a bite of her sandwich and wiped her mouth when he mentioned a training exercise for both her and Chloe. "I would love a good night's sleep, I won't lie." She hesitated, glancing around for Chloe, then looked back at him. "Uhhh..if Chloe is going to be part of a training exercise does she have to get nude too?"

"It is if you are trying to sneak through the woods and suddenly have a sneezing fit." John pointed out, then nodded at her thanks as he sat her snack in front of her. "And yes, I suppose it is." John agreed as he went to the fridge and retreived the milk for her. He set it on the table before he moved back to the counter and retrieved the root beer float for her as well. He noded when she mentioned a good nights sleeep. "We've been pushing you pretty hard the past coupel days." John agreed, but of course that was part of the point. Babs hadn't complained or appeared to let the lack of sleep interfere with her training, but there was no reason to endanger her life just to have her prove how dedicated she was.

Babs question about Chloe's clothes brought John up short. He hadn't considered that, but now that Babs brought it up, he had to admit the idea appealed to him. But would it make Sara mad? And did he want to put Chloe in that postion? He was still trying to figure out exactly how Chloe might fit in Sara's plans, they hadn't discussed the blonde at all. "Ummmm..." John suffered a rare moment of uncertainty even as Chloe walked into the room. She gave Babs an embarassed nod then looked at John. "Mission accomplished, boss." She reported, and John gave a nod of approval before he turned back to Babs again. "If that's what you want." He finally told her, putting the decision in Bab's court, fully realizing he wasn't entirely objective about it.

Chloe took a seat in front of the last remaining sandwhich and float then looked between the two of them. She got the distinct impression she was the subject of discussion. "What?" She asked nervously as she glanced between the two.

She grinned at his reasoning about the allergy. "Fair enough. Benedryl or Claritin would probably handle it. But it's not that big a deal." She knew she was repeating herself and shut her mouth, a bit embarrassed now. She smiled warmly when he retrieved the drinks and took a big sip of the root beer float, lowering the mug only to notice she had ice cream on her nose. She flushed slightly and wiped it off with a bit of a grin, nodding as he agreed with her needing some sleep.

She was most surprised that John seemed not to have an answer about Chloe. It made her suspect that this was all unplanned and she wondered if Sara would be fine with it. She reasoned that if she wasn't, John wouldn't have allowed Chloe here and she resolved that if it became an issue she'd take responsibility for it, she didn't want to get John in trouble. Still, she could see how John was uncertain about her question about Chloe's clothing during training and was surprised. She'd assumed that a lack of clothing was pretty much standard but then again, Chloe hadn't been brought her to train, not originally. She'd just made the offer on the spur of the moment and John had agreed to it.

She arched an eyebrow at the 'mission accomplished' comment from Chloe and rolled her eyes when John put the decision on her. She looked at her friend as she took a sip of her milk and then a bite of her sandwich, buying herself some time but when Chloe spoke up she knew she had to say something. She once more wiped her mouth and looked at Chloe. "Well, we were discussing the fact that new trainees have to train nude. And John had mentioned you and I might be doing some training together..."

Not that big a deal. She'd already said that, John was sure, and he'd already responded. Was there a point in repeating it? He didn't think so, so he opted for silence. He also remained silent when she wiped the ice cream off her nose, though he did retrieve a napkin from the cabinet and place it on the table next to her. He always forgot that part for some readson.

Chloe had no idea she was the subject of the discussion she'd interrupted, and she glanced between the two curiously, once again feelign she had missed some piece of the puzzle. She toook a bite of the sandwich John had prepared for her, and finally settled her gaze on Babs. She had a feelign John was never going to let on what the subject was, so Babs was her best hope. Sure enough, Babs eventually relented and let her know, and Chloe began to turn red and shift uncomfortably in her seat as it became clear why there was a bit of tension in the room.

"I see." Chloe said with a sigh. If John had suggested it, she would have thought he was just trying to get a peek at her goods, but Babs was the one who had brought it up. "I guess I shoudl have asked more questions before asking to come along." Chloe admitted ruefully as she reached up and began to unbutton her blouse. Part of her had figured this was coming as soon as Babs had stripped. Chloe just hoped her training didn't involve running on a treadmill naked.

Barbara realized she'd been repeating herself in an attempt to downplay things and she wanted to kick herself. She noticed John's silence and was thankful for it in an odd way. After all, it was better than him calling her out on her obvious nervousness about the topic. She appreciated the napkin retrieval and smiled at him, wiping at her nose with it briefly, feeling like a goofball as her dad would have probably called her when she was younger.

After she told Chloe what they were talking about she wasn't sure what to expect. If she was a betting woman she'd have guessed Chloe would simply say that she was only here to observe and wasn't comfortable going any further with this. She was surprised by Chloe's response, especially when she started to unbutton her blouse.

She looked from John to Chloe and back again. She was honestly impressed that Chloe seemed to so easily accept this but she felt a bit uncomfortable. Not because Chloe was stripping down or joining her in training but because she felt like she should have warned Chloe. Then again, she'd thought Chloe was only coming to watch or maybe do stuff like when she assisted John with the computer earlier. She wanted to ask if Chloe was sure but she was afraid it might make Chloe nervous so she only smiled at her and then turned her gaze more fully on John. "So uhhh...you mentioned a training exercise for Chloe and I? Is it some kind of partner thing? One of those trust falls or something?"

Chloe finished unbuttoning the blouse Sam had lent her and looked nervously at the other two. John seemed intently interested in his sandwich and Babs didn't seem to be looking at her, so Chloe let out a small sigh of releif. She was still a bit uncomfortable about the process, but the guy wasn't acting like a creep...heck, Babs had been nude with him for over an hour and he hadn't made a move...and it wasn't liek she hand't stripped in front of Babs before. So Chloe slipped off her blouse and folded it carefully before she laid it on the table. Chloe sighed as she admitted to herself she was stalling before she rose and slipped the skirt off as well, standing before the two of them in her underwear as she heard babs question and looked at John, curious what he would say. He hadn't discussed that part with her either.

"Well, I figure you two already trust each other, or one of you wouldn't be here, so no point in that." John replied as he stared at Babs. Even though she was already nude, it seemed the better of the two options. "I want to see the two of you spar." That had been the plan all along, but John turned a shade red as he realized he'd essentially organazied a nude wrestling match.

She looked at Chloe when she stood and shot her a reassuring smile. Chloe was pretty well built she had to admit and she briefly looked her over before turning her eyes back to John when he answered. His reply sounded logical to her and she had to admit, Chloe was probably the person she trusted most in all of Gotham with the possible exception of her dad. But even he didn't know the things Chloe knew.

She noted him turn red and could guess why, a slow smirk crossing her lips. "Spar? Alright. I think I'm more trained than Chloe but we can do that. Were there specific moves you had in mind or will it just be a generic spar to get a feel for our relative skill levels or something?" She could truly see it being either one and she wondered, briefly, if Sara would approve of her bringing Chloe into this. Truthfully, Sara hadn't seemed too impressed with Chloe though Barbara thought she had appreciated her friend's loyalty.

Chloe took a deep breathe after she removed her skirt. She saw Babs look at her with what she hoped was a reassuring expression, but she was more concerned with what the guy in the room thought. She glanced over at John, who still seemed intently interested in his sandwich, then reached back to unhook her bra when no one indicated this was all part of some elaborate prank.

"Spar?" Chloe set her bra on the table and couldn't help crossing her arms over her chest. She could have sworn she felt a breeze now, and she looked suspiciously at the air vent, as if it had conspired to turn on as soon as she got topless. She then glanced over at John nervously. "I can tell you right now she's more skilled than I am." Chloe admitted, and John glanced over at her automatically when she spoke. Chloe turned red and regretted drawing attention to herself, but John looked at Babs as he answered Chloe's question.

"I have a plan to even the odds." John admitted, though he didn't expand on what the plan was as he addressed Babs question. "No special moves, and no rules, really. I already have a pretty good idea of your skill levels. I just want to see how you adapt." he told them as he began gathering the used plates to place in the dishwasher. He didn't like a messy kitchen, and he knew Sara wouldn't approve either if she found out.

Barbara was glad Chloe was getting naked. It made her feel less alone and she smiled when Chloe crossed her arms over her chance, totally understanding that urge. She tried to smother a smirk when she saw John look at Chloe and her blush before her gaze turned to John when he looked at her. To her annoyance she flushed slightly, perhaps not as used to being nude around him as she had hoped. She had to resist the urge to cover herself like Chloe was doing as he answered.

She raised her eyebrows when he said he had a plan to even the odds. She could think of several potential ways to do it but she decided not to push it. She was a little surprised when he said no rules but then again, she was aware that this training was more 'real' than what she got at Miyagi-Do. She thought back to when she and Chloe had tried to balance on that disk in the water and glanced at her friend. "This will be interesting I guess." She looked at John. "How will we know who won? Or is it not that kind of spar?"

"What?" Chloe asked a bit defensively when she saw Babs smiling. She wasn't sure what to make of that, and didn't want to think about it too much either. She also hoped no one called her out on the fact she hadn't removed her panties yet, or even her shoes. Shoes she was fine with removing, especially if she was going to be fighting Babs as it woudl give her an unfair advantage. She just didn't want to lower her hands to remove her shoes right now. They had a more important job, mainly hiding her breasts. A temporary measure, but Chloe would take it.

"I'll be keeping score." John announced, and if he noticed Chloe wasn't naked he didn't say anything as he started towards the door, and then downstairs. he didn't want to force either of them to go first and have them think he was staring or taking advantage of the situation. "First one to...five wins."

Chloe, at least, caught the hesitation in John's voice and she glanced at Babs. "Do you get the feeling he's kind of improvising this?" She whispered as she started to head out the door, casting a longing glance at the clothing folded neatly on the table.
