Thread: The Lucky Bastard
Name: Brendan Finnely
Alias: Raven Storm, Lucky
Age: 21
Quirk: spontaneous luck
Look: messy short red hair with blue green eyes, a trimmed beard on his face, he is about average height but a muscular lean body from swords training and working the ship. He wears a black hat with a clover on it along with a green frop coat with black buttons, black work pants and boots. The only item he took from home is a family heirloom sword called " Gorm Glas" that has a blue green hue to the blade and green jewel at the tip.
Personalty: growing up he was always laid back and relaxed partly used to luck getting him out of trouble and having a way with words that made him popular to the public. However since England took his home land and putting himself in exile he has a chip on his shoulder to fight a battle against a force he know one man can't win so has grown a vendetta against any English trade or citizens that support the crown though he could never agree with the brutality of his past crew so set to be a sailor to help those abused or enslaved by those in power hoping to inspire rebellion to lands under the kings rule.
Bio: he was the youngest son of the Finnely line a clan that ruled the south area of Ireland for a long time. Legends say that they have unnatural luck that helped them out since an ancestor saved a fea years ago. Though hard to say there been moments where there army got a sudden turn in fortune in battle or they would find a good harvest and good metal mines in their land to help trade though it happened infrequently enough that people weren't sure to believe it or not and no one would be bold enough to ask them such a thing. Over years news of Englands claim in might slowly rose making things tense for the gealic neighbors. One day Irish navy docked at thier ports with guns pointed telling them to be under their rule or die. A tense debate happened as some wanted to die as Irish men while others wanted to avoid what would be a hopeless slaughter. In the end the head of the clans submitted and Brendan disagreeing ran away with his family's sword angry with the decision. His friends and him decided join the nearest privateer ship under new names to fight the empire in their own way.

background: cat's father is a part of the british empire, practically casting the young girl into his views.
simply uninterested and frankly against his views, he kicked her out of the house. scraping the streets
for a while, emer became a lover of cooking and helping others. especially during the tyrannical rule.
the young woman is very soft-spoken and gentle with her ways. many presume her to be a fiery red-
head seeking trouble. she is actually the opposite. she tries her best to get along with those around
her and will silently keep her opinions to herself. cat is not afraid to get her hands dirty and blindly
follow her leader (aka lucky). she's incredibly loyal and will always have her friends' backs.
her quirk consists of her cooking. she not only can make ANYTHING taste fantastic, but her ability
also allows her to buff her allies. if someone is hurt, she can speed up the healing process with her
cooking. in a way, she can give people a "temporary boost" when they eat her food.
( First of NPCs, they can be used by anyone to help the story untill we find more cast)
Name: Edward Teach
Nickname: black beard
Trait: Dread aura
Looks: A gaint of a man with a bulky frame full of muscle. He has long mane of black hair and wild black beard. His eyes are heterochromatic as his lift turned black and red while the other is blue. His face is an ugly mess of scars and broken bones from years of fighting that terrifies all that see him. He has a worn captain hat with a skull on it with a long black coat and work pants that go to fancy black boots and his large two handed sword in his back that has jagged edges called Reaper that he can sweep to kill masses of enemies.
Bio: He started as a sailor during the Spanish Wars helping privateer for the crown but when the war quieted down he grew greedy and took on as captain of Queen Anne's Revenge and started attacking any ships he saw. It's during this that madness took him and something in him awakened as one of his eyes turned red and he forsook his old name in exchange for Blackbeard. It said in exchange for his sanity the devil gave him the power of fear. He can unleash an aura if dread that scares his crew into submission or goes to flee and panic. He had grown to have one of the largest Pirate fleets now that he rules with an iron hand and terror.
Name: Aiden Scott Alias: "Doubloons", due to their two gold-colored eyes. Age: 25 Gender: WILD CARD (Hermaphrodite, female-bodied with male sexual anatomy) Quirk: Tide Shift - Aiden has a degree of control over the tides, both in the literal sense of controlling the flow of water, calming or enervating the seas, and shifting the emotions of others. It is important to note that they can only control the emotions and their intensity, but cannot control how the individual will act in response to the increase or decreasing flow of these emotions, much like how controlling the flow of the ocean doesn't let her determine how the creatures of the sea will swim. Looks:
is a short young person with a feminine yet toned build, long black hair reaching to the back of their knees, and triumphantly golden eyes that seem to shimmer in dim and low light. Their notable six pack being a standout feature along with her long limbs that contrast their diminutive stature and make them seem taller than they are at a distance, standing a mere 4'11". Another notable feature of their body which is usually disguised behind clothing is a male genitalia which is rather prominent, but they appear otherwise female. Proud of their figure, they like to wear red pants that reveal one of their toned legs and a long sleeved shirt that exposes the midriff. Bio: Aiden is of Scottish descent and was found abandoned in the road one day, taken to an orphanage of Ireland near the home of the Finnelies, and became friends with their youngest son, enjoying the idea of playing pirates. When things progressed and eventually Brendan took off, it was a no-brainer for his older friend to come along on the adventure, especially since they actually had experience on ships as a result of being a feisty youth that enjoyed stealing small boats and taking off to sea. Their motives are significantly more geared towards instant gratification than Brendan, and as a result despite their ship experience they never even contemplated the idea of being captain, trusting the younger man to be in control... besides; he was the one who managed to get them a ship, so credit was where credit's due. Since, they've been assisting in the navigation of the vessel, often convincing the crew to make detours for the sake of visiting places of debauchery, hunting for treasures they'd heard of, or simply going to fight against whatever seemed like good sword-swinging practice at the time. Personality: Aiden follows the stereotype of the pirate to a T; they are greedy, mean-spirited towards those they dislike, prone to drinking, fighting, and general lewd debauchery, and poorly educated in all things not related to piracy... which makes them not being a pirate and more of a privateer somewhat bizarre. When not handling the urges of the three Fs however, Aiden is actually quite a zealous navigator, preferring immediacy over safety when selecting routes, but ensuring the ship would be able to make it without trouble. It is a death sentence to refer to Aiden as though a woman, either by calling them a dame, lady, miss, or using feminine pronouns.
Name: never reveals it so goes my alias
Alias: marine Age: 24 Gender: female Quirk: captains call of the fearless and daring - a captain aura quirk that has the power to give a mild heal but rally those around her with her own fearless fighting spirit. Everyone who fights with her gains better reflexes and at times it seems her crew suddenly becomes superhuman with some who are bad shots gaining some boost to because of enhanced senses
( mostly a kind of leader motivation aura that they always seem to beat the odds because the one strongest person is there fighting and believing in them. She is struggling with them but also enjoying it )
Personality: the weirdest captain ever, there are times when she comes up with a simple and dumb strategy that actually works and other times when you wouldn't expect someone like her to go all navy strategist in her explanation coming up with plan and getting bummed out when someone points out they just need a simple strategy. She likes having all the attention outside of people calling her a captain which can make her seem annoying and again sometimes question how she is one. Fun loving and likes to drink and party with her crew a lot so expect random nights of drinking sometimes
She is a perv and will sometimes be there uncomfortably staring at shirtless ripped guys pulling up an anchor or carrying something heavy and fantasize about being that object. ( makes some people think she's a masochist )
her mostly general weirdness that also makes her sweet and lovable. Likes to hype people up with crazy stories ( though she does have one that is actually true ) to make her feel better as a captain and raise her hype of that fact higher than it really should be. She just wants enough attention for everyone to like her ~.~ can show a deep deep caring side to her to anyone that’s known her for a long time and always almost gets the crew killed trying to save one of her own, showing her unique love and real dedication not just as crew but friends. This is her adventure to make and finally she has a “ family “ to share it with. And the kind of girl she is wouldnt come without the big obvious title of constant TEASE.
Best thing about her is though
she will never
- give you up
- let you down
- run around and desert you
-make you cry ( mostly )
-say goodbye
- tell a lie to hurt you
Name: Henry Jennings
Age: 25
Quirk: Hearts resolve ( as long as the object of his affection still stands than his body will keep going. He may just be able to barely hold a weapon or stand up but his will power keeps him up.)
Looks: A tall broad chested young English man with long black hair with trimmed beard and flowing mustache. Usually wears a black headband and open red vest with loose black pants and boots.
Personality: passionate and loyal to those he loves while still coming off rude. Hes a big s flirt as many in the crew but holds feelings for marine even if he sees that she has her eyes set on a different prize. Since they met on thier first crew he played loyalty to her and swore to follow wherever she wished and fight to his last breath. He will usually banter back and forth with her to see which caves first but nothing usually comes from the tease and flirt for now.
( Rough draft for a character for Marines crew if needed. Another should arrive and will see how hid character plays out with the crew too before choosing a position.)
Name: L-32460-1 (Was born in a marine prison, to prisoner "L-32461" Louise Belfast) Alias: Levi, short for Leviathan. Age: 30 Quirk: Demigod — Levi has a shockingly durable body and was gifted with practically infinite stamina, with skin tough and thick enough to resist blows from swords and small arms fire, muscles and tendons that don't surrender to the force required to lift an anchor overhead, and bones that can endure falls from rooftops. Additionally, his body does not generate lactic acid and he does not experience fatigue, allowing him to perform at one hundred percent for virtually infinite periods of time provided he does not forget to eat regularly. As if this wasn't enough; he seems to have an instinctive knowledge of the operation of all weapons and tools, and the weak points of anything he takes on from a person to a creature to a prison door's lock... ...unfortunately; this comes at a price. For however long he stays in this "form", Levi is stuck in a more energy efficient form, where he loses all these advantages, and is altogether weaker than the average sailor. To wit, he can maintain this state for up to a maximum of a week before needing to become "human" again, and must stay human for just as long as he took advantage of his Quirk. Personality: Due to his quirk, Levi has two distinct personalities he showcases depending on the form he is currently taking. In his unaltered, thinner, paler form "Levi", he is a calm and collected man who enjoys the air of the sea and a good novel, keeping things in order, and values the health of his captain and crew above all else.
As his larger, more muscular self, dubbed "Leviathan", he is a fighter through and through who lives for the thrill of battle and believes weapons are for the weak to be able to rival him, brute forcing his way through any difficulty and reveling in danger alongside the rewards risk can grant him, self-professing himself as a hedonist. He considers nobody his equal, and gets easily bored when there isn't enough violence and pleasure in the mix. Looks:
Story: Little is known about the history of Levi, short that he was born in a high-security prison to a mother who was rumored to be a witch shortly before her execution. Following which, the boy was transferred to an orphanage on an island that was attacked by pirates and never seen or heard from again until recently where he approached captain marine asking if she needed some more muscle on her crew. He has been with her since, and does not discuss the time between the attack of the orphanage and today. "My story just started, why worry about the preamble?"
Desc: Blonde, bombshell, 5'6, a little scary. Dresses in regal finary. blue eyes
Age: 30s Quirk: Flame Core.
She's literally fire proof, especially her insides. In the presence of fire she has the ability to breathe it in and "swallow" the oxygen or combustion source to extinguish the fire. This ability also permits her to perform parlor tricks like blowing fire and lighting her hair on fire, to then be quickly absorbed through the strands and extinguished. Although these performances don't "hurt" her, there is a limit to how much fire she can absorb into her core at time. Occupation: CEO of Back Door Sluts Incorporated
Madam Personality:
bitch is crazy. full stop. Need to know more? Eve is sadistic. She doesn't try to hide it. She doesn't try to refine it. She is a wretched person. Albeit unhinged, she is cunning and and composed.
Back stabbing figuratively and literally is her forte. Her main reason for living is to earn more money and gain higher and higher status luxury items. She's very hedonistic, self-centered, and greedy. But she does have a soft spot for her little puppy dog-eye Sophette.
As long as she's getting paid, and Sophette is being handled to roughly, she's happy to lounge in her little love den until needed. Likes:
Money, power, gems, jewerly, finery, glassware, shopping, leisure, being spoiled, good wine Dislikes:
Johns who don't pay their dues to the club, salty foods, the idea of her losing her shapely figure Background:
Troubled past, met up with a gang of fellow troubled and reasourceful women. She's not apart of the diamond club of underground brothels around the city. They charge fees to join, but now that she has clawed her way up the ranks she very comfortable.
Whoever pays can get laid.
Whoever can't... You won't like that ending..
Sophette "Sophie" Angelica Ross "Sir... um... p-Please don't forget to pay your tab... The owner will be upset."
desc: young, petite, long black hair, simple but elegent maiden attire, large brown eyes.
Age: 19 Quirk: The Atlantian
She can breathe underwater, and sense the emotions of sea creatures. She doesn't become a mermaid or anything, so she swims slowly. But She can stay underwater as long as she wants to. When it comes to sensing the emotions of animals, unfortunately it doesn't go both ways. She can't communicate with them messages or order them to do stuff, she just knows if they're friendly or not. Occupation: Parkour Instructor
Adorable tease.
Bar Wench. Personality:
Don't let her girlish facade sway you of her innocence, she has been utterly devoid of all innocence since childhood. She's worked several places, and has learned to either stay quiet or have a tough skin. She managed to develop a keen awareness of danger due to the amount of brawls and non-consensual situations she's been in, so she's very cautious. She's also cultivated the stamina of a jack rabbit (You'll never catch her on foot. Never.) She may not look it, but she's extremely adaptable, and agile. Since she's so light on her feet, and exquisitely shaped she makes a comfortable living a hostess or bar maid.
She honestly tries not to cause any trouble, but she has some bad habits... Don't get me wrong, Sophette has a loving and sympathetic personality. She's gotten this far because she's helped way more people than she's harmed! And people adore her hospitality and attention to detail.... They're made to feel right at him when she serves them their food and drinks...
Sophette has been trained well. Because underneath her big innocent eyes, she's a manipulative gossip and thief. She doesn't enjoy telling lies, stealing, and fraud, but she seems to have a knack for it. She gives a lot of what she steals to churches, orphans, and beggars. But almost all of it goes to her mistress and fellow female coworkers, who have 'inducted' her into their matriarchal commune.
Perhaps deep down it makes her feel better, and like the overly arrogant patrons she has to entertain every night won't miss it. She isn't above using her body to get what she wants either~ wink Likes:
The ocean, Freedom, fashion, rich men, sweets, Apple Cider Dislikes:
Cheap men, rude clients, facials, hot days, cold nights Background:
Orphaned when she was very young, a catholic church took her in and she became a ward of the state. Very quickly she ran away from there after she was tired of the early mornings and perverted priests. She slept on the streets and fell into a group of "Lost girls" who are now a close knit web of "Black widows" that use her to lure men into the Tavern (because Sophie has such a pristine and honest looking demeanor). Then they instruct her to rob them blind. Sophie always gets away with it too. Simply no one suspects her of such a thing.
Akemi (AH-Kem-ee) Dekaar (Duh-car) "Excuse me... Is this the only copy you have of the Descartes Muir on Chemical Reactions?
How about a trade?... See anything you like?♥"
Description: Dark skinned beauty, foreign eastern attire and jewerly, long coarse black hair, mature proportions, and golden/brown eyes. 5'8 in boots but 5'5ish.
Age: 30 Quirk: Picture Perfect
Perfect Memory and Perfect Recall.
But it's quickly inhibited by her level of intoxication. She'll only remember it she's sobers up. Occupation: Her Brother's Keeper Alchemist
Translator
Collector
Witch Doctor
Ship Doctor, she dabbles in tons of other hobbies as well. Personality:
100% of the time Akemi is right. Full stop. And this makes her more than a little arrogant. She's learned to pull back her narcissism a tad bit, and replace it with pure action. She's a doer, a mover, and is willing to prove herself right at any moment. If she doesn't impress you with her brains, she is more than capable of dazzling with her body. But usually, she prefers to drink, study, and sleep... Alone. She displays a mature and professional demeanor during the day, and in public squares. But when you catch her in more intimate settings (friends, family, the corners of bars and brothels) she's happily racing to the bottom of a bottle.
Her polished personality and poise also unravels at the mention of her little brother Naire. He is easily the most challenging part of her day- and she's studying Chinese. Hopefully you manage to find her between books, after she lectures Naire, and before her first shot of bourbon. Do you drink? You'll quickly become her best friend.
Do you smoke? Grab a chair!
Are you thinking of a developing a teleportation gun? But don't know the obscure book on metaphysics in the 19th century is? Need someone to recite to you all the countries of the world, in their alphabetical order, with capitals and population numbers? How long ya' got? Likes:
Naire, helping people, drinking, money, reading, writing, science, math, chemistry, finery and jewels Dislikes:
Naire, wasting time, debt collectors, being broke, spiders Background:
Her quirk developed early. Which is probably why she was able to breeze through school, life, career, and athletics with ease. Once she saw someone do something, she would just copy it "Picture" and perform it "Recall" herself. She was perfect little girl. But no one tells you what that really means. Here's the truth: It means you're fake. Nothing you do matters, and nothing you do is really your own doing. You're an actor on stage. A prop for an exhibition. A Recording of someone else's life. And it's true, maybe... Maybe Akemi drinks too much sometimes. But when she drinks, it forces her to stop her persistent and obsessive "snap shots" which force her to maintain her poise and high standards at all times.
One day... A long time ago, her quirk appeared... And she was told it was a blessed gift. At the time, she earnestly believed it. She continued to activate her quirk without even thinking about it... And now, upon waking, every single moment, she's always had it "on".
Naire (Nye-Air or Nye-YAIR) Dekaar (Duh-car) "Weird... You thought you could beat me?"
descr: light brown eyes, cuts and bruises scattered around his body, prominent scars are on his face and hands from fights. He's about 5'9 or so. Dreads, brown skinned, muscular/athletic teen build and is stronger than he looks.
Age:14 16 (very immature) Quirk: Shadow Walk
When skillfully used, the boy is able to appear and disappear instantaneously. There only needs to be a small shadow, or "absence of light" nearby and you can see his likeness seamlessly cross through, as one would walk through an open door. He's leaped from shadow to shadow under trees in a courtyard (meters), or between the pupils of peoples eyes (nanometers). A nearby shadow under the stairs, can lead him to walk outside, under canopy of trees. He needs to only think about a shadow nearby to emerge. It's finding the entrance that may be hard. But never too hard. So far, there doesn't seem to be a down side.... Or at least that what he says. But he's been warned by his sister several times, almost everyday, to not activate his quirk unless he's in danger. She's weary that he may seen some unintended consequences.... Occupation: Ultimate Fighter
Akemi's Knight...
King of the Pirates
Ship-Apprentice.
If something needs fetch'n, lift'n, clean'n, fix'n, or kill'n, he's your boy. Personality:
Punk kid. Likes to fight, and isn't afraid of fighting anywhere at any time. The boy has a lot of anger, and doesn't care who sees. Except his sister, who tends to have a calming affect on him. He enjoys playing pranks, braking things, and has a growing taste for pornography. He has no shame or boundries when it comes to annoying his sister, especially when he feels ignored by her. He is a little bit of an attention seeker and instagator. It's apart of the games he likes to play. Once he's done having all his fun, he does prove to have a good work ethic and repair skills. He'd never admit it allowed, but he loves his sister and does try his best to behave... He just doesn't want her to forget about him... Like the others did.
Likes:
Akemi ~ He loves Akemi. sometimes it's in a motherly way, a big (but annoying) sisterly, and sometimes in a way he can't express. Dirty magazines and entertainment. Making money. The sea, exploring, fishing, and dogs.
Dislikes:
When his sister gets hurt or is in danger. When he does fight, he doesn't like to lose, or get cheated. He doesn't like when his sister drinks too much, and when he has to wake her up early.
Background:
it's him and his sister against the world. It's been like that since he started expressing his "Quirk".
Before he was born, Akemi was an only child. She was labeled a protege. The whole town new of her. And at the time, it felt like the whole world was competing for a piece of Akemi's attention and affections... She Akemi the academic, then Akemi the scholar, now Akemi the doctor and scientist.... She's Akemi the high achiever, the champion and record breaker, the unblemished beauty, the brains.... She really was... Is... perfect.
And so where did that leave little Naire? His family was ecstatic to have a boy, just anticipating his success was even a quarter of his sister's would bring the family's name to world renown! Well... Akemi seemed to enjoy his company. And that's all that mattered to her- if he was safe.
From that point, Naire decided to become the brawn, to make sure Akemi was safe too. Always.
As Akemi became older and finished her immaculate academic career she invested her time studying science, medicine, and chemistry.
Again, she excelled....
But she had to go far away to get the books she wanted. Or to attend the lectures she wanted... Or to see the knew alchemic practices... She just had to see them.. And Naire was not old enough to go, because he had to attend school. And he prayed every night, that when Akemi returned he was old enough and strong enough to go with her, right?
So Naire ran head first into fighting and training. And it was good.
He was really good.
But... He was troubled. He doesn't tell anyone, but passing through shadows make shadows pass through you.
Strange things started to happen around him, and the more he would ignore it, the more it fueled his rage. He was expelled from the Boy's
prestigious academy for fighting, for the umpteenth time, and his mother and father were completely resigned from him and existence. What was he to do? He wanted to still be there for Akemi, even if he couldn't be there for no other reason then to watch her fly. So when Akemi announced she was going to study abroad, Naire (without saying a word to his parents) went with her. That was about 3 years ago. Akemi's been tutoring him in other studies since he hasn't been going to school. He's a quick study. He learned to fix boats and mechanical devices since his family is in the "collect and repair" business i.e traders.

Nicknames:Merri (because she claims to be the daughter of a Merman). Voodoo (Because she claims to be the daughter of Marie Laveau). Bloody Bones (becaus she leaves a trail of Blood and Bones in her wake and because she claims to have the ability to turn into an undead skeleton covered in blood). And many more which I am sure I will come up with as the story moves along.
Skills/Talents: She is highly skilled with swords and all manner of blades, including throwing daggers. She also carries a blowgun with poisoned darts of varying effects (from lethal, to stun, to mind altering and everything in between). She also considers muskets and other black powder based weapons cheating.
She is a rogue pirate with no loyalties or affiliations, blowing through the Caribbean like the wind, (a breeze or a storm depending on mood), and wherever the wind takes her is where she is supposed to be at every given moment in time.
She also carries around a small box about 2" x 2" x 2" which she claims is The Pandora's Box that she inherited from her grandmothers grandmother.
Name:
Isabel de la Cruz (previously Isabel Zamudio)
Skills:
Surgeon and Healer
Personality:
A dispenser of tough love.
"If it please you, señor, I can leave the musket ball inside—and you will be dead from fever before next domingo. Now, drink your rum, bite the stick…and stop with the squirming."
Will teach anyone her art if they show even the slightest interest.
"Remember. You stitch when the wound is fresh and clean, then dress with knitbone and honey. If it smells like death or bleeds like wine? Needle and catgut only seals the rot in. El fuego is their only salvation."
Backstory:
Isabel Zamudio never knew her parents, yellow fever and dysentery behind the cramped walls of Cartagena took them before she could speak. Growing up, Mama Yayi—the Curandero who took in the orphaned girl—taught her much about healing with poultice and powder.
The broiling, stinking gem of Spanish power in the Caribbean was Isabel's home. Though they did not have much in the way of riches, Isabel ran free. A chirpy errand girl for Mama Yayi, her at times soot-caked face was a familiar sight among the poor and enslaved. Once, a passing merchant had dragged her into a secluded corner. Her cries drew the local men, who were only too happy to divest the offender of his coin, clothes, and life. His pale corpse joined the sewage seeping from the city, and a comforted Isabel was returned to the healer woman.
Isabel's next lesson in the vicissitudes of colonial life came when Francis Drake—El Draque—sacked Cartagena. The surgeons in port had turned a warehouse on the docks into a makeshift hospital. By treating anyone, Spaniad, African, or English—they created one of the few neutral spaces during the six week ordeal. Mama Yayi and Isabel sheltered there, plying their trade amongst the smell of blood and sounds of agony. Isabel learned much from the surgeons, they were taking all the help they could get, and she was a quick study. Still, it was not enough. Too many broken bodies flowed through the warehouse doors, and there were not enough skilled hands to fix them. She was soon pressed into working alongside the flesh smiths, sawing ruined limbs off children while their parents bled to death.
Yet, even the sack of her home was not enough to make her leave it. The years of hunger and deprivation that followed were borne with a smile while Cartagena rebuilt. But then, everything changed in an instant. Nobody expected the Spanish Inquisition. Even as the English were winning complete control of the oceans, Spain remained obssessed with Catholic purity. They came for Mama Yayi, pulling her into the night, and charged her for witchcraft. Isabel hid, sobbing under her bed. Nowhere was safe. Changing her last name to de la Cruz, Isabel's reputation in the city as a competent surgeon allowed her to book passage on the next ship to a non-Spanish port.
She's gonna get blood all down her front, but she's so hot though !
Background: Tara's life can be split into two pieces. Before Port Royale, and after. Before, she was born in Martinique, but this was only a quick stop in the travels of the smuggling barque 'Shadedancer', captained by her father Mason Westchester. For the first 15 years of her life, they ran the narrow passageways and inlets of the caribbean's many islands, providing black market, untaxed goods up and down the West Indies, from Trinidad to Port-au-Paix. Her father taught her to control a ship in a tight space, how to run upwind (a task aided by the Shadedancer's lateen-rigging) and evade naval pursuit, how to make runs in inclement and even stormy weather, when no interceptors dare to patrol. Witnessing her father outsail the navy time-and-time again, Tara became excellent with hands-on precision turns and dealing with hostile winds. Life was good.
And then Mason got the idea to extend the runs out to Jamaica. After all, the British could hardly stop them at Nevis -- why would this be any different? Celebrating her 16th birthday is one of the last happy memories she has, as the commander of the interceptor squadron set a trap and captured them. Her father and virtually all her crewmates were brutally slaughtered. She was spared in order to serve in the Captain's cabin. A few years on, the 'Legacy of Hastings', with a fresh new sailing master - the old a battle casualty against French privateers - was caught in a hurricane. Though Tara considered letting them all die, herself included, in the end, she pursuaded the commander as to how to save the vessel, even helped them limp back to port with a almost cracked fore-mast. These efforts earned her little more then a consult role for how to best chase a particular fast, nimble ship or through a storm. Tara hated it, and hated herself for doing it, but the 'Legacy' was soon among the most feared interceptors on the waves. So much so, that the 'Legacy' was tasked with hunting the vicious pirate Teach.
But then, a few months ago, she got her chance, a dagger left too close on a night when the men had liberty in the port, sheltering from a treacherous storm. A drunken commander, a slash, a fat coinpurse, a rolling deck, running - what naval rat can catch Tara on deck during a storm? - diving overboard, swimming against roiling water as if her life depended on it. And it almost certainly did. Collapsing, exhausted, onto shore. Hiding in the foliage. Returning to port after several hideous days in the wilderness, where she was sure she would die. But she set her mind. This would not claim her, not when she finally had her freedom. A little surge of anger roiled her guts when she learned she was sought not for murder, but assault. The bastard must have lived. His stolen coinpurse lasted far less time than she expected, but it was enough to get covert passage to an English-hating port. Now all she needs is steady employment.
Personality: During a crisis, Tara is as calm as can be, almost scarily efficient, creative and quick to act. Without being under pressure, however, she swings violently through emotional extremes. She hates men, but revels in the sudden rush of power she gets over them, and what can they do to her that hasn't already been done? With no one to slap her into being quiet, she finds herself prone to bouts of sobs as years of trauma try to sneak to the surface. But then she'll remember those days are over, and clutch the dagger at her waist - Never Again. And then she moves on. Tara is a survivor. And after all, drink can solve these sorts of problems, can it not?
Bearing: When not having an 'episode' or being sloshed, Tara is strong-willed and determined to prevail against all odds. Though prickly and often sarcastic, she was raised civilly and then held by naval officers, with their focus on decorum, thus she can sound decidedly unpiratical as she speaks proper King's English, preferring indirect 'civil' barbs over the standard fare of insults and ribbing. That's fine. She's developed a degree of anti-sociality and isn't really in the 'friend' game anyhow. She carries a dagger at all times, though she has little training with it.
Name: Zik Ichon
Alias: Daydream
Age: Unknown (Looks late twenties to early thirties)
Quirk: Scout
Curse: To live and die forever
Jobs: Scout, Former Captain, Hunter
Skills: Despite his lazy attitude in most scenarios (due to his drug use), he is adept with a bow of any kind, and plenty of firearms, but always prefers a bow. Not so great at up close combat. His quirk allows him to be a great scout or hunter.
Look: Most like his picture, even though I'm sure the orange eye is a reflection, but I like the thought of it. One orange eye, linked to his quirk and history, and one brown eye. Tends to wear extravagant hats with a single big feather, and a trench coat usually matching his hat. The rest of his gear is typical of a pirate, a couple pistols, knives, and an old longbow that he refuses to part ways with. Around 5'8" and slender build. His body is littered in scars. Zik does not appear to age, and if he does, it's a slow rate.
Personality: Sober: Friendly, though highly irritable due to pain and constant headaches from the lack of a specific drug native to his homeland. Headaches set in after 24 hours of no use. During that first day Zik is friendly to the point he will do anything for anybody, even if it means causing himself harm. He can be flirty, with anybody, as he finds anyone and everyone beautiful. Though he tends to prefer women over men. Well mannered, competitive, slight ego when it comes to his archery skills. After 24 hours: Headaches set in, and he becomes less friendly, and less likely to comply. The pain casually gets worse over time, to a point that he will become incapacitated, eventually falling into a coma. Drug use: Keeps the headaches at bay, and may be linked to his curse. The drugs he uses he simply calls Voodoo, and works similar to marijuana, but to a greater effect. He becomes distant, and tends to zone out. He describes the feeling as complete serenity. Still friendly, and open to helping most people.
Bio: Zik's people were wiped out centuries ago, and he is known as the only living descendant. No one seems to know where he came from, and neither does he. His family was killed when he was only a baby, and he spent his life being raised by criminals, and eventually pirates. When he became an adult, his quirk activated, and so did his curse. His whole life he had carried a mysterious bag of seeds with him, and found out it was the drug Voodoo, and didn't take him long to find out it stopped the pain he started feeling. He also determined the drug helped his quirk a bit too. Zik eventually became a captain of a very.. strange crew, a ragtag crew with people from all over. Most people don't believe him when he says he had a woman from the sea, who he eventually married, a snake type of humanoid, and plenty of other odd crew mates. Most chalk it up to his drug use. Regardless, he was married, but his crew was eventually overrun by the British might once they finally became more active. The only person from his crew to survive other than himself was his personal bodyguard and first mate, Bones. The woman he loved perished, and his drug use became more about covering his grief, but he also on occasion will purposely go without the drugs to feel nothing but the physical pain. He quit being a Captain after that, and now travels mostly with Bones.. searching for a crew to belong to.
Quirk and Curse: Scout, allows Zik to see auras of people and animals within a mile of himself. The further out the aura the more faded it is. If Zik has intimate knowledge of a person, such as his friend, Bones, he will know their exact location at all times while the quirk is active. The less Zik knows a person, the aura will be over a general area the person is in. Crowds give off larger auras, while individuals give off smaller ones. Due to years of hunting and fishing to survive, Zik has become an excellent hunter, and never seems to miss his target. If Zik uses his drugs, the auras becomes more vibrant and are often separated by color. Zik's curse is linked to his drugs and headaches. Zik is doomed to live and die forever. Zik can still die through any means except natural causes such as disease or old age. Depending on the severity of the injury, it takes longer for him to revive. It is unclear with something like decapitation, as it has yet to happen. Zik seems to be completely unaware of this, despite hearing rumors spread about him as the pirate who refuses to die, and even with Bones assuring him he has seen Zik die countless times.
Name: Unknown
Alias: Bones
Age: Unknown (looks late thirties)
Quirk: Harmless
Jobs: Former first mate to Zik, Zik's bodyguard, excellent fighter.
Skills: Bones is adept with large axes, and also smaller weapons. Does not use firearms. Stronger than most people and is often the person that loads and unloads ships. Also secretly a great cook, and blacksmith.
Look: Picture doesn't do him justice, but it was the best representation. Bones has the typical look of most vikings. He is completely bald minus a huge beard, done in a braid, going straight down. He's over six feet tall, and way beefier than the picture. He wears bone armor, and his helmet is custom to have a face mask he can open and close. Of what skin is shown, he's covered in Nordic tattoos and scars. Wields a giant axe on his back.
Personality: Bones is mostly quiet and likes to keep to himself. He mainly only converses with Zik, and is completely loyal to Zik and anyone Zik follows. This is due to Zik saving Bones life when they were younger, from being executed. He comes across as a gentle giant, until he is angered or if someone messes with Zik. Besides that, he is fairly friendly, and well mannered for a Viking.
Bio: Not much is known about Bones' history, not even by Zik. Just like his former captain, Bones seems to be one of few actual vikings left, or simply someone who wanted to take to the see, leaving his people behind. He was saved by Zik at a random port. He was about to be executed for his piracy crimes, but Zik couldn't stand it, and he and what crew he had at the time decided to step in. Bones has been with Zik ever since.
Quirk: Harmless, causes Bones to give off a nonthreatening aura to the point that even enemies will not attack him first. The facade is dropped through engagement with him by force, or he can simply cancel it if he chooses you're a threat to him or Zik. Most often, other pirates or the Brits will take him prisoner, but always forget to remove his weapons, since they believe he is completely docile.
Current Day: Both Zik and Bones are currently being held prisoner on a merchant ship, being sailed to be traded or sold for slavery, or possibly being traded to be executed.
(Definitely want them to meet up with Raven and join him, and simply decided to redo their posts into one.)
