Hello everyone, this is my first attempt at doing some world building. My thoughts are though, that anyone who is interested can help build this world. Below, you will find a map of the city with numbered districts. If a district is open, feel free to take it and set it up however you like.
Anyone is welcome to use this little world, the City of Whitfort.
Make sure you follow the rules (especially not using this thread for rp, only to help build the city together). I have also gotten clarification on what we can do from an admin, that thread can be found HERE.
I hope that this is a successful venture, and there is a great deal of participation...remember, you can help make this city YOURS.
Now on to the good stuff:

1. Please only select a district that is marked as OPEN
2. Post details of the district you have chosen. Your post should include which district you are updating, what buildings are included there, any details you would like to specifically include. You can even name the buildings. If you would like to include a picture, please feel free to do so.
3. Ground level district descriptions are reserved for modern(ish)/realistic themes. Directly below that level is the subway system which runs through the entire city. Far below the subway, is the "underworld". Fantasy type themes are allowed in the underworld.

This is where you will find many of your sleazy strip clubs, motorcycle clubs, whore houses, that sort of thing. Being next to the harbor is convenient for some of the regulars who frequent this area.

Belle Noir - An upscale, private (members only) club. Originally the estate home of a wealthy family, complete with servant's quarters on the other side of the private courtyard, the building was converted into a boarding house in the 1920s, and then into a hotel in the 1950s. As a hotel the former servant's quarters were renovated into a private home for the manager. Currently, as the home of Belle Noir, there is no signage to advertise the name of the business residing within. During operating hours two hulking figures in black suits stand outside the heavy double doors.
Inside is a small, but elegantly appointed lobby area, where members are met by a remarkably tall man with a brutish build standing between the front desk and yet another set of doors, these with intricate filigree style carvings inlaid with something that almost glows depending on the angle at which you looked at it. Behind the desk is a beautiful young woman, with skin the color of cafe au lait, that looks as if she could have just stepped off a runway in Paris. Her dark hair is worn pulled back in a severe ponytail, which in combination with the dress and heels she wears make her look like some sort of executive dominatrix.
The second set of doors lead into the center of the club. Stepping into the club is a feast for the senses. The interior is rich and reminiscent of the gentleman's clubs of years past; dark wood, leather seating, heavy velvet drapes, and luxurious fabrics in deep jewel tones. Expensive perfumes and colognes mingle with the scents of cigar smoke and Cajun food that waft through the entire ground floor. Sensual jazz plays softly in the background adding to the ambience and almost making you believe that you might have actually stepped back in time. A rather extensive heavy wooden bar takes up a large portion of the space. The back shelves not only house many of the world's finest liquors but is also home to a wine collection that make a true oenophile weep with envy, and a humidor stocked with only the most sought after cigars...a true testament to the level of luxury the club is known for...by those who know. The space around the bar is filled with intimate seating arrangements where members can gather to mingle or conduct business. There are almost always some notable faces scattered around, some with beautiful, scantily clad women on their knees. More of these women will be seen moving around with trays of drinks, food, cigars, and other more scandalous party favors.
To the left there is an area for billiard and casino tables, and to the right there is another smaller bar, but still impressive in its own right that feeds a smaller lounge area. Seating arrangements vary; on either side of the bar and along the far right wall are semi-private booths, while tables capable of seating either two or four people are situated on gradually descending risers. Every seat in the house, though, is positioned to face a main stage which is flanked by smaller stages to either side.
Back in the central area, a double staircase ascends to the second floor where a balcony located just above the main bar overlooks everything. An elevator carries guests to the upper floors, each with corridors of private rooms, each of which is assigned to members of the club. These private rooms can be used for whatever the member desires; business meetings, poker games, or more tawdry exploits.
The former manager's residence is now the home of the owner, Morgan McKenna.

A collection of various organizations involved in the logistics, infrastructure, regulation, operations, and enforcement of rules and laws regarding the Harbour and the import/export activities involved therein. Trade and labour unions related to Harbour work have their headquarters located here as well. The entire district is managed by a public trade official answerable to the City Council of Whitford. Local cops have their own quasi-jurisdiction separate from the rest of the city. There are a few quality hotels for the lodging of important businessmen who have affairs to be conducted in the district, though the real important ones might lodge in better establishments elsewhere in the city.
An interstate highway runs north-south along the shore, creating a meeting point between road and seaborne traffic. Numerous bus and subway stations dot the district. Many of the organizations headquartered here have a piece of them, sometimes significantly so, owned by the Leonardi Crime Family…

Blocks and blocks of storage facilities for the import and export of goods coming into and out of Whitford Habour just to the south. Many of these warehouses are filled from ground to ceiling with all kinds of consumer goods and/or natural resources, to be shipped elsewhere by a never-ending supply chain network. Some of these warehouses are not what they seem however, a few abandoned completely and inhabited by criminal elements and others utilized for the lodgings of illicit businesses, such as drug raves and casinos.

There are many apartment blocks in various states of dilapidation for the housing of both temporary and permanent laborers who find employment here or in the neighboring districts. The Leonardi Crime Family has many interests in the district, including the operation of Whitford's foremost illegal casino in one of the abandoned warehouses.
