Apocalypse slice of life survival game interest check.

This is a survival idea but also a slice of life. There has been an apocalypse of some sort. Most likely something natural or a war. Definitely not zombies or virus related. Our characters are somehow connected. Friends, strangers who met, family, anything. After wandering the wilderness for a period of time they stumble on a camp with other survivors.

The camp has 'old tech' but in a very rudimentary state. What I mean is that there is electricity and probably water but it's all crude and simple. Initial idea is that the people live in boats and aircraft they've collected but I'm open to suggestions.

Point is, our characters are taken in by the community, who are a friendly bunch of ordinary people, willing to give our characters a chance but cautious. From here our characters have to 'earn' their way into the community proper.

Depending on how many, if any at all, people are interested, I suppose some could already be in the camp.

Drama, romance, betrayal... What little's left of human kind, they're still humans.

Just an interest check for now. I got plenty more ideas later if I get enough interest.

If there has been no decision made on what caused said apocalypse how about a meteor the size of the Chicxulub asteroid that struck Earth approximately 66 million years ago basically creating the Gulf of Mexico and causing the extinction of dinosaurs?

And with that I am also throwing my hat into the ring as interested in this.

We have already started as a 1on1, but you could join if you still wish. I can add you to our convo if you are still interested, we can take it from there to where and how you can jump in?

Well there's no zombies :)

We could probably fit in two new players? *looks at MsBloom*

Can't believe I didn't see this before. No zombies?? Nice. You said it could be something natural that happened, but it's not a virus. Was it something along what happened in the end of the movie The Girl With All The Gifts?? Plants releasing spores??Just curious is all. Also curious if it's too late or too full.

At present the world fell apart from solar flares destroying most computers, so the world has devolved into a more “Mad Max” kind of situation.

Yes what Liam said. Cataclysmic geological events broke the world basically.

That all said, MsBloom and I have already started a while ago. Here is the link to that.

Where we are at the moment is that two young women have found a small camp/settlement along the highway in Arizona. It's an old truckstop with a lot of scavenged supplies. Our characters have found a more promising looking spot close by and are going to start building there.

So it makes sense to me that new characters are already from the camp and join our characters in the new place.

If you want to make a character, just drop it here. If the interest is serious, I'll make a character thread and we can discuss where to introduce your characters.

Eric Allan. Age 39.

A loner with too many degrees. He got a scholarship from the Army to study "geothermal plasma and pressure" and one degree led to another. He was at the old Fort Huachuca when he saw seismic activity which he had not been seen in 1000's of years. He tried to report it, but as long as it wasn't a nuclear war or a zombie attack, he was ignored. It was then that computers went out.

Of no use to the Army anywhere, he deserted. Traveling along a highway in Arizona, he saw the camps. Mostly survivalists and preppers, he decided not to join, but stayed alone. He kept his eyes on the ground and managed to find what he needed, but still he grew lonely.

He wished he could say he was a hulking brute of a man, but he was 5'11 and 178 pounds. Dark hair and blue eyes. His one true asset, whether it was training or innate was that he could detect the fault lines and had an impending feel for geology and mining. He liked living alone, watching out and waiting. That was until he felt the rain coming and knew there was going to be a flood. Worse than the biblical Noah, he was eventually forced out of his "village of 1" and had to rejoin civilization.

He has seen two people recently decide to go on their own. He approached them with a small cache or arms (stolen from the Army base) and is willing to trade protection for addition to the group. He is not going to beg, but if allowed in, he will use his assets mostly for the good of the group. He waits to hear the decision of the group.

Wrong apocalypse. That one is linked to this Interest Check ...

Basically a meteor strike Eastern Siberia and set off a chain of events that cause the ring of fire to erupt, earthquakes and tsunamis. Japan, New Zeeland, California ... all gone ... And then, like the cherry on top, the Yellowstone caldera erupt as well ...
