Back log:

Days had turned into weeks as they travelled North to Ranulf's promised land. Roan had healed, she and he were still an uneasy couple. The differences between the Goliath and Levithan people were great and they had much to overcome. Not the least of it being Roan had been disguised as a male for all of her adult life. Rising to be the Goliath's Champion. Ranulf had defeated her when she was wounded, claimed her as his own, a prize slave. Than he had fallen in love with her and his life had never been the same. She made him crazy. The harder her pushed her the farther away she seemed to be. The thing was he was the Levithan Champion, as aggressive and strong willed as she. He just did not understand patience, other than in battle? Well or maybe when dealing with the camp followers and the women's circle. The thing was he loved her despite their differences. He had seen how noble, dedicated, loyal, intelligent, and feisty she was even when broken. He had already known of her cleverness and skills. She was like no other. Ranulf was truly smitten. They would be in his valley in another few days. The pursuit had not shown up as expected and everyone was feeling more relaxed.

Ranulf MaCloud knew much was going to change for his force. He had two troops of Cavalry, two troops of mounted Pikemen. The Pikemen rode to battle but fought afoot, a sort of defensive force. One troop of Scouts lead by Ryder Gawyn. Ryder was a bit more agile than Ranul;f in body as well as mind. Than he was not as aggressive either. He had fallen for Roan's handmaiden Lina. She was much different than the noble born Roan. Like Ryder, she was happy serving others. In particular Roan, whom she seemed to think of a daughter, sister, and friend. Ryder had met Lina as she was behaving as a thief moving through the city evading assassins. Ryder had not liked the odds and helped her out. They had almost instant chemistry. He hated to be away from her and often allowed her to ride on scouting missions with him. The one time he had not he had almost been slain. Lina had tended him much like she attended Roan. Forcefully nursing him back to the living. That was a hard time. Roan had been almost killed as Lina was tending Ryder and well, Ryder had sent her to Roan. He missed his Lina very much but maybe not as much as she had missed her man?

Thus Rivals had become lovers, in one case a rocky relationship, the other a mutual respect and bonding of souls. All this on the backdrop of a large force moving North to avoid more warfare. Ranulf had seen too much death for the sake of Kingdoms. It was one thing to kill to defend yourself or your people, quite another to make war for conquest. In the beginning he had believed in the cause of the Levithan horse lords. The Goliath sea King had raided his people treating them like savages. The Levithan had been scattered nomadic people, living off the land and moving as needs arised due to weather, food, or water supply. The Goliath had forced them to band together into a nation. That had caused the Goliath coastal city lords concern. They knew how fierce the Horse Lords could be. So they had invaded to crush the forming Kingdom before it was a threat. The Horse Lords were like the water of ocean, moving and shifting. Unpredictable! The war had not gone well for the Goliath till they had been pushed back to the mountains between the coast and the great plains. That was when the Horse lords and faulted and begun tasting defeat themselves.

Champions on both sides had emerged. Turning the tides of battle for their respective sides from defeat to victory time and time again. Fate took a hand as the Goliath king sent his Champion to shore up a weakness on the Northern border. A very good road lead into the heart of his kingdom and the fort there was a minor one. He feared the Horse Lords might well detect the flank route and by pass the balk of his army. He had been right. Even as Roan rode North with her host to shore up the defenses, Ranulf was requesting permission to take his own army there to outflank the Goliath's. The Levithan Prince had raised Ranulf to be champion but had grown jealous of his accomplishments. The Levithan King though saw the wisdom in the plan and agreed. So Ranulf arrived with a force larger than what Roan had near the same time. Ranulf had tried to sneak up on the fortress but had failed. A lone courier from an ambushed patrol had given warning to the Fort. They had sent out their cavalry thinking it was a raider force less than five hundred. They had a full thousand plus and were lead by roan herself. The local leaders of government and the garrison had insisted. Roan had suspected a trap but too late. Her force was decimated in an ambush. From that moment on the chess game had been in Ranulf's favor and he had taken the Fort despite a spirited defense.

Defeating the wounded Goliath Champion had brought many unexpected twists of fortune! His army wanted to enslave her, Her own people wanted to burn her at the stake for impersonating a man. Ranulf had put the city under one of his Captains, the commander of the 1ST Cavalry troop Braden Wulfe. An able commander and an excellent judge of people, he was a good administrator and had kept the city from imploding. Even despite that, factions within the city plotted to disrupt the rebuilding. They kidnapped Roan as she rode. Lina and Ryder had been searching and Ranulf himself had come to the rescue as well. The City had been rather quiet once that group if instigators had been all but wiped out. They had made a few more attempts but had not made out any better than the first time.

During all these shenanigans Ranulf was preparing his plan to desert the war effort. Many years past before he was the Champion, he had been a scout for a unit hunting brigands and bandits. During one of those chases he had seen his valley. Warm in the winter and green. It had been a huge Dale enclosed by high jagged peaks. It was beautiful! He had vowed one day to settle there. Than the war, he had become the Champion of the Horse Lord's host and his life had been consumed. He had become tired of killing good and noble men though. Killing brigands was different, they hurt others for pleasure and profit. A soldier though fought for his home, family, and with pride. Ranulf had scouted North thinking of just leaving. He had his army to think of though. They were as his family after so many years. They looked to him for leadership. So he had brought his eight most trusted friends and Captain's into his thoughts. Five had agreed. The other three understood but would not leave the nation. They would remain and garrison the captured Northern fort. None would betray Ranulf. They were truly friends and all thought well of Ranulf. So it had happened. Word leaked as soon as they had captured the fort though. Those sort of things happened. The prince was furious and was said to be bringing a warhost North to both take advantage of the flanking breach and to hunt down Ranulf the traitor and hang him.

Roan however had put a kink in that situation, not on purpose but quite by accident. She had sent a large part of her remaining force South to warn her King of the fall of the fort. Those men had met the reinforcements sent to bolster the Keep's defenses. they had siege weapons for the towers to strengthen a known weakness. Thus the Prince had arrived as the Goliath's army had and they were busy fighting each other over the Fort. Ranulf knew nothing about that, but he had wondered why he had not been pursued! It was strange how the situation had developed as it had though. Both Champions hated by their own people and on the move together! It was an epic tale of forbidden Love.
------------------------------------------

It was another officers meeting on horseback! Ranulf had begun doing that again once Roan was healed. He knew she hated being in the tents after her recovery, and it had been the way he had done things before her. He felt he thought more clearly on the back of Stormy his warhorse than anywhere else. Present were Roan and Lina, All six of his Captains. That included a Goliath Captain of elite guards. Challes was loved like a brother by Roan and Lina. The column had more or less stumbled upon them thinking they were bandits. Now Challes and his men were Roan's personal guard and he was included among the rest of the Captains in the force. He and Braden Wulfe had sparred with wooden weapons, a time honored method of proving ones worth among the Horse folk. Challes had still been injured and Braden had won, but had learned to respect Challes. Once Braden had accepted him Challes would find others had as well. Through effort and hard work he and his men had become part of the column. So this was the command group.

Braden Wulfe was 6' but built like a boxer, He appeared huge being solid and squarely built. He was an organizer and planner. Ryder Gawyn was 6'2" almost as tall as Ranulf and built much like the Commander. Long limbs and lanky body. Still the Commander was fuller in the chest and broader of shoulder. Ranulf was 6'3" and was even stronger than he appeared. Which was something because he looked formidable as things were! They were men to lead, and others followed them without question. Ranulf sighed as he worried over many small problems. "I think we should send Ryder and his scouts on ahead and check out the valley. I was thinking of going along, Roan and Challes men can be my escort." He looked to Braden. That leaves the column under your command Braden. And all the headaches that ensue? Would you be well with that?"

Braden shook his head laughing. "Look Ranulf. I don't think anyone in the entire camp has not noticed how anxious you have been to ride on ahead and show Roan this valley of yours. I trust Challes and his men as much as any with your safety.. And Roan's. Ryder has good people to lead his camp as well. I think everyone has been expecting you to send him on ahead long before now. I think you would have as well if you were not worried about pursuit." One thing about the Levithan's was they spoke truth to power. There was no bowing or scraping the knee among these proud folk.

Ryder nodded "I think we can rest easy on being chased for now. We will be well within this 'Paradise' before any sizeable force could reach us now. I agree though, riding on ahead to scout is just being prudent." He reached over taking Lina's hand as he spoke. Since he had been wounded they were seldom far apart. Unless she was tending to Roan.

Ranulf smiled "it is settled than. Tomorrow morning I will ride on ahead." He laughed "I think Stormy is as ready for a long run as your Brimstone is Roan. I think a few days hard riding might burn some of that excess energy away. What say you?"

Roan sat atop the liver chestnut mare that she had mothered from a foal up. Having bottle fed the beast as she had been rejected by her own mother. Leaving her is a similar situation to the young girl who had lost her mother and forced to be a boy from a very young age. Not that she had cared. It was better than being sold off as a bartering chip to keep the kingdom happy. Bastard daughters could still produce babies, or so her father had reminded her when the title champion was given to her. As the Officers meeting continued she found her mind wandering as they spoke of things that were not really of her normal issues to deal with. More the captains bantering back and forth with one another.

Roan herself was a lean mass of muscle, and no where near as busty as Lina. Standing at about 5'5" she had always been seen as small, however the power and speed she had never allowed anyone to fully question what was under the armor that she had on. Now that she had been forced to wear more fitting clothing her bust of a C up was easily seen by the world. When she complied. Normally the slightly baggy shirts hid those curves slightly. Her hair was currently a shaggy cut as it had grown out from her normally military style cut and Ranulf and her were in a never ending war of her cutting it vs growing it out. Its auburn color burning brightly in the sunny light of the day. Her hazel eyes locked forward was they rode.

She only zoned back in when they started to speak of taking a scouting group ahead to check the valley. Her eyes slowly drifting back to looking at the group as she rode silently. Since her Injury she had withdrawn ever so slightly from everyone. Feeling trapped by the large train of people that were moving north with them. Confined by all of those around her. She wasn't allowed to go out of the camp alone, even a trip to the bathroom was lacking in the privacy she had become so used to in her travels with the army she had led. It had only ever really been Lina by her side. The both of them separated from the world because of their secrets. Now she felt like, even in the open air she was trapped.

She knew it had mostly to do with the fact they had confined her to that damn covered wagon for so long until she was able to move about, cleared by the surgeon, the one she had nearly killed on one of her many fevered night. That night still bothered her, the lack of control she had over her own body when she attacked, and even less control or ability she had when she tried to run. It was after that Lina had arrived to care for her. The comfort of proper clothing allowing her to relax a little because had Ranulf had it his way she would have been nude the entire time. Lina however, fearless in the face of a man like him wasn't one to stand down when it came to the care of her lady Roan.

"That sounds fine with me," she said in a reply to the question that Ranulf had passed her way. Her hand absently running over the mares neck as she nodded. "I will expect you all to keep up, once we start running you know she is hard to slow down." She added with a smile. Her eyes drifting to look at Lina who was laughing softly and gripping the hand of the man that she had very much claimed as her own. "It would give us time to plan any needed defenses for when the main caravan arrives at the valley as well, something that we may need seeing as you just defected and we are on the run from people that want to burn me as a heretic."

---

Lina pushed her white mare closer to the man that was holding her hand as they rode. Pulling his fingers up to her lips as she hummed softly. She was only 5'3" but a ball of wild fire waiting to rip through a forest at any moment. Her long black hair pulled up in a messy bun at the moment as she hadn't had much time to ready herself after Ryder had finished what he wanted first thing in the morning. Her dark eyes, a grayish black in color, watching the group of men, knowing she was only there because she didn't want to be a part from Ryder and Ranulf respected them to nod separate them when it wasn't needed.

A frown catching her lips as they talked about riding out ahead of the main group, her eyes slowly turned to look back at the wagons behind them. As they drew closer to their valley the women were having a harder time keeping a few things under control. They were low on supplies for things and many of them were not used to improvising, the older women tried their best, however the longer they went on the more tension in the women there were. There wasn't a single day that went by that she wasn't asked after to help with things that others didn't know how to or were just to worn out to do.

Her fingers tightened around Ryders as the though of not being with him ripped at her, though she knew where she should be. Her dark eyes clearly trouble as she thought deeply about what she would do. She had nearly lost the man the last time he convinced her to allow him to leave her side. She wasn't about to let that happen. However the thought of leaving the camp that needed her help in keeping thing running bothered her just as well. Slowly she let go of Ryders hand and shifted in her saddle, once more comfortable she reached for the mans hand again seeking the comfort of his touch.

Ranulf noticed Lina's thoughtful unease. He knew very well they were low on supplies. They had left with all they could carry and had foraged as they moved but since entering the mountains many things needed were hard to find or just unavailable. He also knew how invaluable Lina had become among the women's council. She had been formidable before to deal with now she had the support of the women's council behind her as well. She was quite a force in the camp to deal with. At any rate he had made plans for what he suspected she was thinking already. "Lina even as we speak, those four extra empty wagons we took from the bandits are heading West to the seaport City. I sent the Quartermaster with fifty men as escort. They will buy all they can carry and rejoin the group. The countryside will be more abundant soon and the supply issue will pass. So you can rest easy. I never even considered parting you from Ryder or Roan for that matter."

So the next morning a scout unit from the fifth company rode out ahead. These were the swiftest rider. Ranulf was beside Roan as they left the caravan and he touched her arm once they were around a corner. "Go ahead, let Brimstone run. I will keep up with you. The rest expect you to run off anyway." He clicked his tongue and Stormy jumped past and into a full run. It might not have caught Roan off-guard but Brimstone was none to happy that the blue roan stallion had got the jump on the run!

Ryder rode close to Lina as the flankers and scouts scattered. There were a good number behind them yet, plus the pack train with supplies. Ryder was riding close so they could talk easily to each other. "I am glad you decided to come. You are as good at organizing as Braden so having you with us will speed up the laying out of our town and settlement. Farms and ranches will need water and grazing for livestock. The town should be someplace accessible yet also defensible. You have a keen eye for that building stuff. Me. I tend to be more on the seeking ways to bypass that sort of thing." He squeezed her hand. He wondered why he always felt like jumping on her and making out? He had never felt like that before. There was just something about holding her naked against his skin that made him feel all warm inside. He didn't really ever talk about his feelings. He felt certain Lina knew his thoughts anyway.

Ranulf had already made his plans known before they left. He and Roan would set up a tent away from the others so she would have her privacy. They would collect the pack animal with their needs as the rest made camp. Ryder had liked the idea and was going to do the same with Lina. The Sergeants were not happy that the officers were acting like randy children but they had no choice in the matter.

Ranulf and Roan were well ahead of the column when they slowed down to a fast walk. Ranulf pointed into the hills nearby "I think there is a waterfall over there. You want to ride over and take a break, let the horses graze and the column catch up?" He rode off and beyond the treeline. He loved Roan but he had an adventurous spirit and he wanted to see the waterfall. If she followed he would be pleased but if she didn't he would find her later. He could track Brimstone in his sleep. The trees were full of a sort of clinging vines. The deeper into the forest he rode the less light he had. To most people this would seem creepy and they would back out. To Ranulf this was a thrill and he was eager for some action. Roan was being nice but the fire and passion had not been there since she was wounded. Ranulf was trying his best to be patient but he needed something to fire his blood. This was just the sort of thing he needed. Risking his life was not the same as holding Roan but it would fill the void till she came around to wanting to feel him against her again.

He had not seen Roan ride into the forest so he suspected she had decided not to join him. He rode ever deeper his swords loose in his scabbards and his bow in his hand, an arrow notched. He could feel the danger here, it made his skin crawl and the hair on the back of his neck stand up. Stormy was tense as well, his ears flickering at every insect noise. The warhorse sensed danger as well. On they rode daring anything to challenge their right to be there. It began s few minutes later. The sound of splashing water as something ran across a stream. The sound of rustling branches as something moved through the brush nearby. Than he spotted the movement and drew back his arrow and let fly. A large two legged lizard with long claws and fanged teeth hissed as the arrow went between those wide open jaws and the steel war point thrust out the back of its head. It fell well short thrashing as it died. There were more as well. the others were smaller, some the size of a chicken, others the size of a large dog. Stormy kicked out sending a dog sized lizard back into the vines, its ribs crushed. Several of the smaller lizards leaped on it to feed.

Ranulf and Stormy made their way forward slowly as the vines could trip. Ranulf had both swords in hand as the lizards came in too fast to allow for his bow. He was keeping the little ones at bay by killing others which they would feed on. Carrion birds began making more noise above from the tree branches high above. Than they exited the woods onto the bank of the stream. it was a clear sandy beach and inviting! The waterfall was actually three and they were a wonder to behold. The lizards did not follow but all grew quiet behind him? He rode toward the waterfall along the beach. His mind was not fooled though. There had to be a reason those lizards had not come here?

(so ah, where might Roan be??)

Lina gave Ranulf as weak smile as she nodded slightly before she turned her eyes back to the moving caravan behind them. Since coming to the front camp she had grown close with several of the older women, and they had brought her in, and in the blink of an eye it was as if she had never not been one of them. Though she could still see their un ease and even mild distrust, or distaste about Roan and it still bothered her. She couldn't count the times she had to ward off would be trouble from girls that still had a dislike for a woman that unlike Lina just didn't seem to fit.

The next morning Roan pulled herself up on to the mare that was pawing with anxiety at the ground. The beast knew that something different was going on today, she could feel the weight of extra things in her saddle bags. Her head tossing with excitement as they finally started on the road. Roans eyes moving to look at the white mare that came trotting up with Lina on her back. Once all of them were there they moved out. And it honestly wasn't to long before Roan's eyes turned to look at Ranulf as he spoke. The stallion he was on the back of jumping into a full run. Roan shacking her head as she held the reigns on the mare tightly. Giving the man a head start, knowing that once she dropped the hold the mare blow her would become the wind. And that was exactly what happened. Roan let out a sharp whistle, and let the reigns lax and the mare darted forward. She may have been smaller than the stallion that was a good was ahead, but she gained ground faster than ever. Easily over taking the man and his stallion, allowing Brimstone to place a good distance between them before she pulled her back in, slowing her down just a bit so that way Stormy could pace with them at least. The mare was born to run, but with out restraint would hurt herself doing so.

The black haired woman looked at the man next to her and squeezed his hand softly with a soft laugh, though there was still that unease in her voice. "We cannot expect a brute like you boys to be able to do something so refined as planning out a town." she added as she winked at the man. Squeezing his hand softly, her eyes slowly casting to the world around them as she pulled the mare closer to the others horse and pulled his hand up to kiss the back of it. "As long as I am with you everything will be okay." She said happily, breath brushing against the back of the mans hand.

When they finally slowed to a fast walk Brim was snorting and tossing her head with the irritation that they had stopped running. Her eyes casting in the way that she knew he was talking about, however the forest was thick, "Ranulf in this area we really should stick to the. . . " Though the words left far to late. The man had already trotted beyond the tree line and into the dense wood. "Path," she sighed as she urged the mare back into a gallop down the trail they had been on. Her eyes scanning the dense would as the moved. It was a good mile again before they found what she was looking for. An old hunting trail she had noted on the map before they had taken off from the main group. "Come one," she said to the mare Pulling her about and down the thin trail. The way much easier than what she expected the man was dealing with, having to cut through the thick trees.

The trail she road was something that was old and unused for some time. The sounds of wildlife all around her, and from what she could tell there was some excitement somewhere off to her right, most likely Ranulf having to deal with the wild life somewhere in the dense trees. Her trip through the would was nearly uneventful other than a flock of birds attacking her as she pushed through so bushes that their nests rested in. It wasn't until she neared the edge that an unease and quite fell over the trees. And as she exited she found a large lake fed by a stream.

The water was crystal blue and nearly as smooth as glass where she hade exited the wood. The beach a perfect white sand. In the distance she could hear the faint sound of the falls, though she could hardly see them in the distance. Slowly she shifted. Lifting herself out of her saddle and down to the ground as she shifted to pull her boots off. She honestly couldn't remember the last time she had felt the sand of the sea on her feet. However, this may not be the sea, it felt more like home than anywhere she had been in so long. Once here boots were over the saddle she moved to start walking in the direction she was rather sure that Ranulf would be coming from. He had wanted to see the falls after all. However this lake was fare more beautiful than the water falls to her.

Roan would reach the waterfall a short time before Ranulf. She would see him emerge saber swinging and long clawed two legged runner type lizards dying than fleeing as they reached the sand. Just as Roan saw Ranulf emerge from the woods once he was in the clear he saw Roan walking barefoot in the sand. The waterfalls were too loud to be heard from even the rather short distance that separated them. Ranulf pointed to the water and his saber. It might appear he was letting her know he was going to clean up? It was already too late. The lurker under the sand was already awake. Brimstone would feel the vibrations through his hooves first as he was a sure footed beast. He pulled back from Roan as the ears flattened on his head. There was danger here and he was aware of it. Without warning a thick tenacle rose from the sand trying to grab Brimstone around the middle. Brimstone felt primal fear and reared up pulling at his reigns and pulling free of Roan. The horse bolted toward the tree line breaking free. It sense of survival momentarily overtaking his loyalty. After all something this unnatural would cause even the bravest beast to know fear!

Off balance, Roan was suddenly snatched and lifted off her feet by the selfsame tentacle. Ranulf's war-cry made the birds in the trees take flight but it was not enough to make his stalworth mount charge the hulking brute lifting from the sand. The thing was huge, easily the size of a wagon with two claws as long as Ranulf! from between the claws a dozen tentacles wiggled across the sand. It was a monster like nothing Ranulf had ever seen. In fact he was so startled he never even thought of his bow as he charged across the sand to save his beloved Roan. He side stepped a tentacle and evaded a second as he splashed into the water's edge. He leaped into the air to stab down into the beast only to be sort of back-handed by a massive claw and knocked back a dozen or so feet to land in the sand. A third tentacle grabbed his ankle as he fought the clouds behind his eyes! So much for his heroic entry!
--------------------------------

Ryder rode with Lina with the column most of the day. Near the time for the lunch break he nodded to the side and they left the unit for some privacy. That was for Lina's benefit. About a mile from the column they would pass two outrider coming their way from a wooded hilltop. Ryder exchanged waves with them as they rode past. They had wide smiles but said nothing. They sort of evaded looking at Lina as well. The reasons were evident as they crested the hill. There was a tent set up with many pillows and blankets for comfort. A rock circled fire with a meaty stew already cooking. The place was shady in the heat of the day with a nice breeze. There were water buckets for the horses and a pack horse that everything would go back on after. Ryder dismounted and removed the bridle from his horse to let him graze. He stepped around and reached up for Lina. "There is a small cask of water heating by the fire if you wish to freshen up before we dine?"

He put his hands around her waist pulling her to his chest and kissing her passionately. Once on her feet he showed her a length of rope. "One word about the main column, Roan and Ranulf, or anything other than about us and I tie you up inside that tent and keep you there naked till the column is out of sight." The playful look in his eyes made his ongoing threats of tying her up seem laughable. It was his go-to threat that he never seemed to even attempt. He was pretty sure she knew he enjoyed her hands on him too much to ever really go through with his threat. Ryder was as deadly as any man living. His enemies had much to fear but Lina had him wrapped around her pinky finger and his love for her still made his heart race and his knees weak just looking into her eyes,

Roan frowned as she watched the man burst through the tree line like the brute he was. Honestly she had not expected him to take so long to make it though the trees however seeing what he had been fighting she couldn't help but chuckle. However the amusement seemed to fade as the creatures sank back away from the tree line back into the depths of the forest. Her eyes then snapping to turn around as the man brandished his saber and pointed at the falls. That was when the ground moved. Everything else seemed to happen in a flash. When the Mare reared next to her pulling back away Roan knew she needed to let the beast go. Allowing her to bolt. Something that she never would have done. Thrown off balance by the shifting of the sands and the sudden reaction of the mare roan felt the wind leave her as her feet left from under her and she was yanked up. Dazed by the sudden movement.

Roan watched Ranulf's attempt to attach it even though he was tossed back. As the air filled her lungs again she shifted reaching for her own blade. Clearly brutish actions were not going to win against this. So maybe her speed could. Pulling her blade free from the leather loop she used to keep it from moving about when in a gallop on the mare she pulled it free. Curling upwards towards the tentacle that had her she sliced through it just above her feet so that way it was thinner. Like a cat falling she twisted in the air to land on all fours. And as soon as her feet were free of the tangled thing around them she pulled back with lightning speed.

Roan weaved, almost dancing with the tentacles, as if this was a fight she had done before as she sliced through the thing with ease. Dancing back away from the lash of the claws. After the second attack of the beast's claws she shifted. The next attack she shifted into it. Driving the point of her blade into the join and slicing down. Nearly removing the lower joint of the right claw as the beast attack.

-----------------

Lina frowned as she looked at Ryder as he pulled away from the main group. She was expecting to be helping feed everyone but the other kept tight hold of her hand and lead her away from the group. "Ryder where are we?" She asked then she saw the two riders, though when she realized where they had come from, she shook her head with a softly laugh. Riding with the other to the top of the hill and looked around. The food on the fire, and the other said something about water heating up. A soft hum slipping from her as the other said it was for her to freshen up before they ate. However she had a feeling that she was honestly going to need it after. Though she kept that comment to herself. "A freshen up sounds lovely." She said as she allowed the other to help her from the saddle she road in. Her arms looping around the others neck as she kissed him happily. Then laughed softly as the other threatened her.

"Are you threatening me with a good time?" She asked slyly as she moved to kiss him again. Though she knew it would be easy to keep those things from her lips just to torment the man, knowing how badly he wanted to do something like that. However, she couldn't wait for their little Bar and inn. The fun that she could have once they settled in. Slowly as she pulled away she allowed her fingers to run over his chest. "I should go do that cleaning up while the food is still cooking," She winked as she moved to walk away from the man, fingers hooking the top of his belt, pulling a moment before she turned fully to walk away.

As the monster concentrated on Roan, Ranulf found his feet and his senses! He ran back in hacking with both his sabers at the joint where the left claw met the arm from the body. His sabers bit deep with each blow and tentacles lashed at Ranulf from under the body. He was forced to back away as he sliced more than a few tentacles clean from the body. The creature shifted violently when Roan ruined the claw on her side. Ranulf saw the softer underbelly of the creature. A place his sabers could cut into. Unlike the hard crab/turtle like shell on top. He raced in and struck, both sabers stabbing into the body half of the blades sunk into the soft skin. Than the unthinkable, the body shifted back down and Ranulf vanished under it.

The creature though became insane. Thrashing about in all directions, Roan was confronted by a half dozen tentacles that were simply lashing about. Yet she knew Ranulf was underneath that huge body. The part in the water was making a horrendous splashing display as well. After a frantic fight the beast lay still! It was as if it had worn itself out and fallen asleep? Only a few minutes later the monster's head moved! Then the jaws opened, and an arm thrust out! A voice, Ranulf's voice! "Help me get out of this damn thing?" He had evidently killed it from the inside and was now trying to cut his way out! When his head became visible he laughed "I trust you like seafood?"
---------------------------

Ryder resisted her pull, but only because he was unbuckling his belt so she would pull his pants open before she released him. "So I take it you need help cleaning up? Excellent idea." He followed her into the tent leaving his boots just inside the flaps. He would begin removing his weapons harness and shirt, everything neatly placed inside the tent. Within reach but yet out of the way. He leaned into Lina from behind "How did I survive so many years without you?" He kissed the nape of her neck and followed several more kisses around her neck. His hand gentle on her head and face turning her to face him so his lips would be able to reach her own. Sooner than later he was laying with her ion his arms kissing her as her clothes somehow managed to vanish. His pants went missing as well which would mean his erection was very evident between them.

Ryder was a romantic and his style was to touch and kiss before even considering penetration. Of course unless that was his tongue of fingers! Part of his foreplay would always include his orally driving his love to an orgasm with his mouth and tongue. Before that though would be countless kisses and suckling on her nipples. His hand and fingers were just as skilled and roamed her soft skin as if they had a mind of their own. Ryder's ways were known well to Lina by now. He would make her body respond and writhe before he would truly get down to business. One thing was certain, lunch might boil away before his attention was on anything but his love.

It was rather noticeable these Horsemen were direct and physical. There were few sonnets or sweet poetry. Bawdy songs and touches were the way of these people. Ryder was even more so, his words were few and his actions abundant. He was easy to read for Lina but an enigma to most others. He never spoke much of his feelings but his eyes were an open book to the desires of his soul. He never bragged or even spoke of sex as men were oft to do. He just quietly went to work as any other task he might perform. Dedicated to doing everything as perfectly as possible. Taking no short cuts, attentive and deliberate, completing every small task to the best of his ability. He studied Lina like a trail in the woods. Learning every tendency and response. Knowing her meant he could tease her and please her better than any other ever could. It was because of his love true. It was also his nature to be the best he could possibly be.

With this set up Lina would know they were going to enjoy a rather long lunch break!
