She tensed as she heard a knock at the door and slowly, reluctantly released him. "Just a moment," she said, disappointed that they had been interrupted. She walked to the door and motioned for him to start looking around, checking things out. When she opened the door, her servant bowed and entered. "I-I'm sorry to interrupt, my lady, but--"
"Seth was merely doing his job as my protector, ensuring that my room was safe," Sophia said, correcting the ideas of the servant. "You were not interrupting us." Though, in fact, she really had.
"Yes, Lady Sophia. I've come to ready your bed. Also, the master tailor sends word that the tapestries for the mourning period have been finished. The order for the servants will take a while longer."
"Very well. You may tell the servants who have the proper attire to begin wearing it tomorrow. The rest will simply have to stay indoors and wear white."
"Yes, my lady. Your bed--"
"I'll see to that. I'm not incapable of doing it myself. Please, don't worry quite so much about me. There's no need to keep up appearances for people that aren't here."
"Yes ma'am. I'll leave you now." With that, the servant bowed her head and took her leave and Sophia sat on the bed as the door closed. "I wish I did not have to deal with this quite so much. I'm sorry, Seth."
