When they arrived, Amir housed Simmun and paid the stablehand with his own money before going inside with Nyra. "I'll order our board and some food, why not go find somewhere to relax?"
She watched him as he spoke to the innkeeper, his smile small and disarming as they talked. He was just so charming with everything that he did, she was always enraptured by him.
"Excuse me," her eyes were pulled away to a newcomer, a man probably old enough to be her father, "would you mind if I kept you company?"
The man was about to speak again before something slammed down onto the table and scared him. Looking up, Amir had placed two tankards down hard on the table, silver eyes holding malicious intent as he stared down at him.
"Leave." He ordered coldly and the man left in a hurry. Amir looked to Nyra and his eyes softened, "Are you ok...?"
He smiled gently and nodded, "Here, the keeper said he had some honey wine, and I wanted to spoil you.." He pushed one of the tankards toward her before moving to sit beside her.
He smiled more, "I do my best."
"You there!" She watched the emotion in his eyes change before he turned his head, glaring at the idiot and his posse who approached them, the young man covered in fine jewels, "You are the keeper of her heart?"
"I am her keeper in a lot of ways. Why?" Amir asked dully.
"I challenge you for her hand!" The man stated. Amir turned his head to look at Nyra.
"So many suitors, never enough graves." He muttered.
"Not until I have you, fair maid!" He said. Amir stood and sighed.
"Stay here, Nyra. I'll be back shortly." He said before leaning down to kiss her deeply.
He smiled gently before leaving the inn with the idiot and his men. She hoped he would be ok, Amir had a terrible habit of going overboard when people came courting her.
When he did come back, he was holding a bleeding wound under his ribs on his right side, but he didn't seem terribly bothered by it. His cheek was starting to swell with a bruise but he came over with a smile on his face.
"I hope you weren't worried."
He grinned, "I had to put him in his place. He and his friends didn't like that. I'll be alright to share food with you first, it isn't bleeding too bad."
