Searching for shorter words

I'm coming across trouble when I'm searching for shorter words like "orc" or "elf". I assume that's because there could be multiple hundreds of posts that would return with this kind of search; but I'm finding it difficult to find what I'm looking for as there's no other word for "orc". I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to go about my searches, and how to select keywords!

The search will not let you go for something three letters or less; you might want to try "orcs" otherwise I'm not sure how you would search for anything that reduced. Hence the plurals might help narrow it down and then utilizing the results to find specific threads you like may be of use.

In theory I've solved this but it requires restarting the database. Which is a pretty significant task, so I've been holding off.
