Let me be your woman

There was a little village nestled at the base of the mountains, hidden in a dense jungle where an odd sort lived. They never bothered or harmed anyone, mostly kept to their own unless needing trade, what made them odd was their religion. Hundreds, maybe thousands of years ago, the founder of the village was rescued from death by a massive creature; half man half snake with beautiful red scales and haunting green eyes. To repay him for saving her life, she started a celebration to honor him for his kind deed; though as time progressed, the celebration turned into worship and they turned the mysterious naga into a God. The closest blood relative to the founder became the envoy of the naga and would send out missionaries to spread the word of their God. Many thought these people were insane, worshipping a snake man that might or might not have truly existed, but no one ever tried to cause them harm. They were just isolated crazies, they didn't want any trouble, only wished to tell the stories of their village.

Raven was the newest envoy; she was given her title when she turned 18 and now being a fully blossomed 25 year old, she was wise enough in her knowledge to not need guidance. Her people looked up to her for spiritual strength and she was beyond happy to provide.

Soon enough, however, she was to be sent on her mission, to spread the word of their deity, and hopefully find someone to join their cause

She was as nervous as she was excited, and she soon left her home and set off into the jungle, ready to spread her message.

The roads were decently maintained, but she still carried a dagger for protection. It was a long and curved blade, with jagged points all along the edge. In truth, it was more ceremonial than anything, but still. She took a breath and headed off into the steaming jungle, her heart full of cautious optimism.

Would she be able to bring someone back with her? Would anyone find truth in her word? She was hopeful, if nothing else.

When she tried to speak to them about her worship, they would brush her off and turn her away. Some would seem intrigued, but would never go farther than that.

She made a noise. She was as determined as ever to get someone, anyone to join. Unfortunately, this took her away from the village.

It left her vulnerable, in an unknown area with unknown people. It made her nervous, almost scared.

At least she thought it was empty, it was too dark to see. She heard something shift and before she could scream, something coiled around her whole body tightly before a hand was placed over her mouth.
"Please, do not scream." A deep voice whispered in her ear, "I won't hurt you. I'm just hiding here, same as you."

The thing slowly uncoiled from her and removed it's hand, she could see something move in the darkness before a small candle was lit. In the dim light, she could see him. A massive being, half man half snake with beautiful red scales and haunting green eyes. His hair was long, messy, and red as his scales.

It took her a second before she gasped and immediately bowed. "Y-You have returned..! This is amazing..! A miracle..!"

"Y-Yes..! This is incredible..! You may not remember, but you saved my ancestor from certain death long ago..!"

"I did...?" He asked. He wasn't very old, he was barely fifty. He remembered his great grandfather had saved a young maiden a long time ago, maybe she was confusing the two? He made a noise, "Time seems to have taken its toll on my memory." Best to go along with it.

Her face flushed. "O-Oh, forgive me for being so presumptuous.. it is rude to assume we would be that memorable.. b-but regardless..! I am Raven, current missionary and spiritual leader for my people.." she said.

"Derek.." He gave his name in return, "Where is your village? I can't imagine this is it. No one would put their spiritual leader in a shack.."

He didn't really like the mountains, although it would be better than constantly hiding in a building that would eventually fall in on him. "And you're out here spreading your word?"

"Y-Your word, to be more precise.." she said. "I hope you will come back with me, I think you would like the jungle more than this building.."
