For all his might and all his efforts Ul-Ruk was not unstoppable. Again his gaze slipped and his eyes wandered, catching the creature squarely this time and his body just simply lacked the strength to resist the magical effects any longer. His muscles tightened up, his skin hardened, and before he could really react he simply turned to stone as darkness enveloped him and he all but ceased to exist. For all his potential and all of his ambitions, it seemed that this creature was to be the end of him.
