St. Helena Academy Outcasts (Sorrow's Solace and J)

Tristan wasn't the only one who was being overcome by curiosity. Erik eagerly unveiled the next object. It was a simple looking staff about two meters long. He touched it, and was surprised to find that the wood felt alive. Small clusters of leaves and a single acorn grew from what seemed to be the top of the staff when the blond teen grasped it.

"It feels like... a summer day." Erik said. As he spoke, a warm breeze blew through the room, scented with things green, growing and flowering. "Full of life..." The sensation was exhilarating, like summer itself was trying to flow into and through Erik, but it was also frightening as the youth felt the energy was more than he could take. He was scared it would burst him like an overfull balloon. Erik dropped the staff with a gasp and staggered a few steps away from it.

Mena turned around as Tristan was carefully running his hands over the anvil, grey eyes alive with curiosity. The young woman looked over the staff and gasped softly as vines grew from it, as if the wood was alive and thriving still. Her eyes widened as the scent of life filled the air and she moved to him quickly as he dropped the stave and she gripped his shoulder "Erik, are ye alright?" she asked, as Tristan walked over, worried as well.

"I'm all right," Erik gasped after a moment. He felt a little light headed and giddy from the experience. "It was just too much... I couldn't hold it all." He smiled at his friends and gently caressed Mena's hand on his shoulder. "So much life..." Erik shook his head a little. "But maybe we should just look at the anvil right now and leave the staff for later?"

"It must have a lot av magic in it, maybe we can ask our mentors?" Tristan mused aloud and Mena nodded "Aye, that's a good plan, best te not te mess with anything in here without knowing what it is." she commented pragmatically, ready to explore the rest of the storehouse.

"That sounds reasonable," Erik agreed, his head still spinning a little from his encounter with the staff. "Maybe you could take the lead, Mena? I think you are more sensible than me." The teen smiled softly. He really had been foolish to touch the staff like he did, but he didn't want his friends to think he'd lost such self confidence as he had.

Mena eyed him a moment, seeming to make sure that he was alright before shrugging "More scared really" she replied and Tristan shook his head "Don't believe her, she's always the one te get me out av trouble, she's got a good head on her shoulders." he stated and Mena smiled faintly at both their confidence and walked on.
