Im intereted in trying some things I have never roleplayed before, the main one being anthro. Looking for some advice on a good starting point

Make a Request Thread and start writing.

Really, that's the best thing you can do when looking to explore new themes is just to do them. You won't ever really know you enjoy them until you try, and you won't gain experience until you do it yourself.

Basically this. Make an RT, find some like-minded folks from their own RTs and give it a shot.

Also, just a few threads down in GD, someone goes into great detail about anthros, which could be useful as well!
