Dare to See Things His Way

He sighed, preparing himself for at least a decent explanation. "To be honest, I did not know of you until tonight. The only explanation for this is that it is different for Vampires. Their senses... they just know. Now, I have known your father for a while. Several years. Yes, he knew that turning you would heal your eyes. But first, you had to be older. And... you would be bound with the person that changed you." He turned away now, his body facing away slightly.

"The conversion... ritual... it's more than just turning people. It's not done to just anyone, or for any reason."

â??Conversion ritualâ?¦.â? She repeated the words, turning in the direction of his voice. â??Well you had to know about meâ?¦but I know we have not met till tonight. My father talks about me to everyone, as much as I hateâ?¦.he does.â? Tara took a few steps forward, and though normally she was good on her feet she was stressed, and did not see a kink in the walkway. Tara fell forward, landing on her hands hard. He would hear her cry out, as she went down and thankfully there was no real harm done. Just bloody hands, from scraping against the stone.

She held her head down towards the ground. â??I have spent years trying to get over, why God had not given me eyes the function. Iâ??m finally ok with it, and now you offer me something like this. Where were you years agoâ?¦?â? She was upset, no doubt about it. Had she been able to cry she would have starting tearing up. â??I scare peopleâ?¦.I know my glossy eyes are not prettyâ?¦.it keeps people from getting close to meâ?¦I donâ??t want this anymoreâ? she glanced up, her icy blond curls bouncing. â??Give me sightâ?¦.I want to see the world in all it splendor.â?

He moved to help her up, his reflexes just barely off so he couldn't catch her. He pulled her to him and took her hands in his, lifting them up for him to inspect. "I will not lie to you, it will be painful. And it will take some time for the conversion to even be ready." He gently touched where her hands had been scraped, and let out a soft sound.

"I will have to talk to your father. I'm sure he will understand. But with the conversion, you will be linked to me, in more ways than one. I am devoting myself to you. In time, you will too. I know you don't understand right now, I don't expect you to. But I know you will."

He gently kissed her hands where they were scraped. "I'm going to heal your hands now. I know it will feel weird. Just be calm. Then I'll take you somewhere to rest." He put her hands down a fraction for a moment and bent over, gently kissing her on the forehead. "But your eyes, they are beautiful to me. Why they scare anyone, I do not know." He lifted her hands back up, and his tongue gently swirled over the cuts and scrapes, healing them like they never were.

Tara felt herself being pulled up to her feet again, he pulled her hands up to inspect, and the sound that came from him surprised her for some reason. Had she expected him to turn monster at the sight of her blood? She felt rather silly getting emotional on him, it was the result of a lot of pent up anger. â??Sorry, I donâ??t normally act like thatâ?¦.â? She sighed as he kissed her fore head. â??This just came to a shock, all that you have told meâ?¦.I hope you understand.â?

Her father would be calling on her to check on her during the morning of the next day. She would have a lot to talk to him about. Tara lifted her head at the sound of birds chirping. â??Morning is around the bend, do you think you will be able to get back home in time.â? She paused thinking over something â??I could offer you a room for the nightâ?¦if that would be betterâ? Would he take her up on such an offer, it was not exactly right for a man to be alone with a woman. Though it was not like anyone would even know.

He finished healing her hands, ignoring the taste of the blood... ignoring that he hadn't fed that night. "It is alright." He said softly, a finger pulling a lock of hair from her face to behind her ear. "I didn't expect anything else besides you getting angry. Or upset. It is normal, natural." He lifted his head to the sky, listening to her offer. He was sorely tempted. But he shook it off. "No, I cannot do that. Raziel will worry. He has no idea. I blocked my mind off from him for a while. He'll meet me where we live. But I can take you back quickly." He picked her up, and with a flurry, wings burst from his back and he took flight.

From the height that he flew, he looked like a eagle carrying her. He held her tight to make sure she wouldn't fall. He knew she wouldn't, but to give her the comfort. The flight took minutes, where he was landing on her balcony. He knew it was hers by the scent. He had her scent down now. "We're on your balcony." He said softly, as he put her on her feet. "Turn around and go through the doors for your room. I'll see you at nightfall." He gently bent down and stole a soft, light kiss, a brush of his lips against hers, before he took off again, into the night before the sun rose.

Tara had felt his tongue graze across her hands, and the pain from falling had vanished in a snap. However with everything that had gone on that night she really forgot to thank him. He declined her offer; his reasoning was fine by her. Sure his brother would worry, and it was best not to cause anyone UN needed worry right now. She nodded when he mentioned taking her back quickly, and quickly found herself up in his arms. She felt a sudden rush of wing, and what a sound that she could only place as wings flapping. â??Wings?â? He was flying her home; Alex had many surprises up his sleeve tonight. Tara was sure that there would be more to come.

Fear was not something that crossed her mind when it came to heights, and when he landed she barely noticed. â??Home already? And on my balcony tooâ?¦Thankâ?¦â? She could not even finish her sentence before she felt his lips brush hers in a quick yet soft kiss. As soon as his lips left hers, she knew he was gone. â??Goodbyeâ?¦â? she whispered.

Tara turned and went through her balcony doors, heading straight for her bed. She knew the placement of her room well, there was no chance of her stumbling while she was safe in her own home. Sitting on her bed she thought about the events of the night. Alex, one of the Daratrasanoff brothers had devoted himself to her, and on top of that he offered her the gift of sight. Then of course there was the fact that he was a vampire. It was an overload of information in one night. Laying back Tara fell asleep in her white dress.

She slept all through the day, missing the phone call from her father, and even slept soundly after the sun went down. She lay there on top of the covers, looking quite frail.

He was back about a half hour before sundown, his wings disappearing as he walked into the caverns. It took him a few minutes to get deep in, where the sun wouldn't get to them, even in the daylight. Soon, the small, winding tunnel opened up into a wide-carved room. And in the center, sitting at a table with a map on it, was Raziel. Alex was beaming as he bee-lined to his brother.

"Brother." He started, holding himself back, almost spinning around the room. "I found her! I finally found her!"

"Good for you. I hope you bound her to you?"
Alex put his finger up before stuttering. "Uh... no, not yet..."

Raziel turned slowly and nearly glared at him. "Good going. You better be fast tomorrow, if you want to save yourself."

Alex sighed. "You will find your own soon, brother. I know. I can feel her out there, too."

"And while we look, I rot!" Raziel yelled out, anger gritting his teeth. "I can't wait much longer before I have to make the decision." Raziel sighed and turned back to the map. "I might have tracked her, I'll be leaving tomorrow night. I'll see you in about a month."

Alex nodded and sat on the map to delegate. They didn't sleep, staying in the dark during the light to do what had to be done...

Early the next night, Alexander left the cavern and took off, in the opposite direction of Raziel, towards Tara. He was fast, landing on the balcony and waiting for her, just lightly tapping on a window pane so she knew he was there.

Tara moved slightly at the first knock at her balcony door, the second knock is what actually woke her. She sat up slowly her head turning to any noise. â??Hello?â? She slipped down away from her bed and moved towards her balcony window. â??Alex?â? Tara opened the doors, letting him in if he was indeed there. The wind blew in, and she could smell him there. â??Good eveningâ?¦â? Stretching her arm above her she gave a big yawn.

He moved forward when she opened the balcony door, pulling her into his arms and holding her. "Good evening. I hope you slept well?" His eyes went over her to make sure she was ok, and then he sighed calmly. "Ok, go get changed for the festival, I'll take you."

Tara was not use to the kind of affection he was showing her, she would seem taken back by the fact that he was holding her. â??I did sleep well, I normally doâ? She slipped out of his arms and headed off to her very large walk in closet. Inside were many different kinds of dresses, all coded in brail, so that Tara could pick out something. She with a smile on her face peeked back out into her bedroom. â??Alex...pick out something for me?â? She motioned for him with a finger gesture.

He listened, and he slowly walked towards her, into the closet. It didn't take him too long to find a good dress: a twilight-blue dress with little frill or fluff. It was rather plain, but it was good for the figure, with little lace or sparkles. "This one." He said, pulling it out and moving to her, handing it to her.

By the texture alone she knew the dress well when he handed it over to her. â??Ah, I do like this oneâ?¦.feels nice on my bodyâ? she smiled, then gently pushed him out so that she could dress. It did not take long for her to change out of her white into the one that he picked out. Tara after about five minutes would come out of the closet. â??Could you help tie me upâ? She turned her exposed back to him and lifted her hair away from her neck. â??I can never seem to get it myselfâ?¦â?

He waited patiently for her outside, and when she came out, he obediently went behind her, tying her up. He was fast, precise, and soon he tied it closed, and was pulling her back against him, holding her against him. "There. It's done." He let out a soft sigh, holding her, content, before talking.

"Now, we can go to the festival, or we could go out alone and have fun."

She let him hold her for the time, sighing with him. â??If Iâ??m to spend my life devoted to you, I think it would be nice to be alone. What do you consider fun?â? She did not know any Vampires, so there was no telling what kinda stuff they were into. He turned to face him, and lightly tugged on his jacket. She liked touching him, weather it was his clothing or his skin. Tara moved closer, glancing up and him her lifeless eyes. â??What fun shall we have together Alex?â? Her hand moved up and grazed over his lips with her slender fingers.

He gently kissed her fingers before pulling her closer, his hand tilting her head back ever so slightly before framing her cheek. "I know a nice, quiet place we could go, in the mountains. A hot springs. You could use some relaxation." He bent his head down slightly to meet her lips, a light kiss. but he held it longer than before. "Or, for other things, if you wish..."

His lips felt nice against hers, she pressed back against his lips for as long as he held the kiss. â??I have never been up in the mountains. My father has always told me he would take me, but things have always come up at the last momentâ? She sighed. â??I would love to go there with you Alexâ? Tara smiled softly. â??Itâ??s a shame I wonâ??t be able to see it the way you do.â? She pulled him into a hug, her arms around his midsection. â??Letâ??s enjoy the night together, whatever it may entail.

He picked her up easily in his arms, wings sprouting from his back. "Hold on." He said softly before taking off. It wasn't long that he landed at a cave, a different one than the one he and his brother were using. His wings disappeared as he walked in with her. The tunnel was deep here too, so that light wouldn't get too far inside. He walked further in with her for a while until the room opened up.

The cavern was rather large, with a few holes where the water was welled. The largest one had a small waterfall falling into it, and all the pools had little geysers that shot minerals into the water and kept them hot. "Here we are." He said softly.
