'Serena rushed home after picking some flowers for her mother only to stop when she spotted men from the village standing outside her home. watching as her father spoke to them Allison felt her stomach drop when she heard what they were talking about "it is only right that your child goes to the dragons this time every other family has given up their child for the dragon's protection and your family can no longer claim not to send a tribute. we will be back on her 18th birthday to claim her and send her up to the dragons so be ready" Serena watched as they left and her father turned to her his eyes sad. dropping the flowers she raced into his arms and cried. her father knew she had heard their words and he knew that she was scared. "calm little one your mother and I will help you so that you can hide your true self from the dragons we will make sure you can act human so no one ever suspects anything." Serena nodded her head and then went inside with him so that she could start learning everything she needed to survive.'

Serena stretched as the carriage rocked on its journey up the mountain to the dragon kingdom and frowned at the daydream she had just had as it was more memory than anything. the people had decided that she would be the one to go even though her family line would end with her as her father and mother had both passed away without having any more children even begging them hadn't worked two years ago so she hadn't bothered to argue when they had come for her. Serena shifted so she could try and sleep better after shaking the remnants of the dream away but it seemed like the people hauling her up there enjoyed keeping her awake even though they knew she needed the rest. Serena knew if she didn't sleep soon that she would not be able to do her duties once she arrived at the castle. not that she knew what they were. it seemed like no one knew what a tribute would do in a castle filled with dragons. Serena was a slim girl and had always been that way he hair which she always kept dirty was a unique midnight blue in color which matched the scales she had when in her dragon form. unlike other dragons, her mother was a vampire so along with eating food once or twice a week she had to feed off living animals in order to survive because of this her eyes had a pink color rather than a normal blue, brown, or green like everyone else.

Alexander looked over the files sitting on his desk each was a dossier on the tributes coming from each of the eight cities surrounding their mountains. with a groan, he got up and walked to his brother's office at the other end of the castle. there wasn't a day he wished he was the king as it stood until his brother had an heir he was the crown prince. walking through the black marble halls Alexander looked at the various painting each of them showed a dragon and then the king who shifted to that dragon. when he reached his brothers' office he stood and looked at their late father and then sighed and then he turned and knocked on his brother's door. at a towering 6 foot 6, Alexander was the second tallest dragon in the kingdom and unlike most other dragons he kept his hair long and tied back, and when he married he would cut it off

Millennia ago, before Humans begun to settle around the mountains surrounding the kingdom of Dragon shifters, an archaic dragon lay down near the foot of the mountain. He was mortally wounded, after duelling the ancestral root of the Dragon kings, and died there. Soon after a rare if not entirely unique fungus took root in the corpse. Drawing nourishment from the rotting flesh it grew until one day a young noble from Caen-Wyhl the Southernmost of the settlements that had grown into vast cities under the protection of the Dragon kings spilled his seed in self-molestation on top of what he believed to be nothing more than a large slab of rock. To his surprise the seed was immediately sucked into the smooth surface and the ground began to change in colour.

Nine months later he rode past the same spot with his newly wed wife only to find an egg-like growth protruding from the very ground. As the two stopped to examine this strange shape it cracked and inside was an infant child of indeterminable gender. they took the child home and raised it as their daughter.

Now eighteen years later the time has come for a new generation of tributes to be sent to the Dragon kings and Xadé has been selected by the high council of Caen-Wyhl.

It had been a long arduous journey. Even if the carriage that took her to the kingdom of Dragons was comfortable enough the mountain roads were not, less and less so the higher up they got but then as they reached the pass that marked the entrance to the kingdom of those protecting their homes the road changed and became a carefully laid black marble road. The ride was now smoother, no more discomforting than any road in Caen-Wyhl. The destination however was one that filled her with both dread and anticipation. No one truly knew what happened to the tributes after they were dropped off at the gates at the end of the mountain pass. No other Human had been allowed beyond that point.

There were all sorts of rumours going around though about the tributes becoming the main course of a hedonistic feast, or forced into sexual slavery for the amusement and procreation of the Dragon shifters, why else would the Dragon kings demand only virgin girls as tributes. There were also rumours that they were kept as maids and others that said they were treated like princesses and given a life more luxurious than they could ever have had in the cities. Xadé was unsure what to think, specially in the light of what her father had told her the night before, about how she had come into the world and her mixed blood. It had explained quite a bit, especially how she could lay a hand on any living thing and using mycelium being able to draw nourishment from it. It also explained the way her skin shimmered as if covered with tiny soft scales, because it was.

When the carriages arrive at the mountain pass their passengers are required to get off and walk through the pass. once they are through the pass a new carriage will be waiting for them to take them to the summit and their new lives. Serena looks at the pass when her carriage arrives and sighs before getting out of the carriage and slowly walking to the pass. between the ride there and the lack of sleep she was exhausted but she knew that she had to remain awake. Serena looked back at the carriage that had brought her and frowned as they hurried away. "thanks for nothing" Serena then turned and walked through the pass. once she was through she spotted the carriage designated for her home and headed to it climbing up and settling on the seat. with a small squeak when it started to move Serena watched as her surroundings changed from rocky inclines to lush green mountains and crystal clear rivers. when she finally arrived at the castle Serena got off the carriage and stood in line with the others while waiting for the remaining tributes.

after heading the permission to enter Alexander entered his brother's office "well the tributes should all be here by night fall if that" Alexander then set all of the files on the girls down on his brother's desk and looked at him waiting to see if he was even going to show at the choosing ceremony or if he would have to pick for his brother. Alexander knew his brother had a lot on his plate being the king of the dragons but he also knew that having a tribute could help lessen the amount of work he had to do

It was close to noon when Xadé stepped off her father's carriage all dressed in a pure white dress wrapped in Ivy as was the custom of Caen-Whyl on special and festive occasions. Between her breasts she three red roses, with the thorns removed, had been attached. She was basically dressed for a traditional wedding but there was no wedding, no groom, at least not in the traditional sense.

As she walked through the outer gate she felt more alone than she had ever before. Abandoned might be a more proper word and a part of her wanted to just turn around and run away. What if the worst of the rumours about the tribute were true? What if they were kept in cages and raped every day until they became with child and then after they had birthed that child had to see it claimed by its father just before being killed and prepared as the main course for the child's name-giving ceremony. The thought brought tears to her eyes and she cursed her life, cursed the day she had been born, no hatched out of the very ground.

She took comfort in something her mother had said that morning while helping her dress.
"Remember that you are special. You are not like the other girls. Maybe the nobles of the mountain kingdom will recognise this and treat you accordingly."
She also took comfort in something her father had said the night before when telling her about how she had come into the world. He had researched the hill upon which she had been found and according to old legends found by his oldest and wisest advisor that hill was all that was left of the great primordial dragon Fanguur who had been killed by his younger brother, the first king of the mountain kingdom. If this legend held any truth then she, Xadé Bruwehl, was directly related to theDragon shifters' royal family, and if perhaps she did not actually have a claim to the throne she was at least to be considered nobility.

At the same time her father had warned her about making any such claims for fear that it would mean the king might consider her a threat to his rule and have her killed on the spot to ensure that her lineage died out.

Having passed through the inner gate Xadé stepped into a second carriage and was taken to the the castle where she was the sixth tribute to arrive, which meant that two other girls were still to arrive before any of them were allowed to go ay further.

Serena looked at the other girl who arrived not long after her and nodded While most villages had traditions hers did not and she looked like she had just come from the field. Serena then looked at the others and wished she had known that everyone would be dressed up as brides. if she had she would have worn her mothers' wedding dress. Serena spotted the other two carriages and relaxed a little knowing soon that everything would be over and she could live the life that someone else dictated to her.

after the other carriages dropped of their tributes an older woman walked forward and looked them all over "welcome to the dragon kingdom tributes. it is well known that many of you have heard the rumors about what happens to a tribute when they arrive but let me clear a few things up. Firstly we do not kill our tributes and eat them at all, Second we do not imprison you and force you to have a child and then kill and eat you, Third, you will not be turned into a breeding machine for a dragons liking. if you are not picked by His Royal Majesty the King or His Royal Highness the Crown Prince you will be sent to either the kitchens to work the laundry room or you will become a maid. In these positions, you will be paid a fair wage for the work and on your days off you will be free to roam the village." the woman then walked up and down the line before speaking once more motioning to the maids behind her "these maids will take you to a room where you will be bathed and scrubbed clean from head to toe and then dressed in the traditional garb for the choosing Ceremony"

As she arrived at the castle one girl stood out among the others. She was dressed in plain clothes rather than in the best clothes their parents had been able to find for them, most of them dressed in some form of bridal dresses as if they had been sent off to marry some foreign prince. This was possibly due to the fact that one of them would be chosen to be the king's consort, whatever that would actually mean. Marriage? At least that was the general interpretation among the cities.

Xadé relaxed more and more the more the older woman dismissed rumour after rumour about what awaited the tributes in this new life. It did after all make more sense for the Dragon shifters to make use of them as maids, cooks or servants in general, or they would have asked for tributes more often than once per generation, once every 18th year. It was still strange though that they had specified that the tributes all had to be female.

This was another thing that had begun to worry Xadé as she stood waiting for the final two tributes. To look at with her clothes on she was of course as feminine as all the other tributes. It was what would be discovered when she undressed and prepared for the choosing ceremony that worried her.

once she was done going over everything they needed to know the head maid sent the girls off to be cleaned and dressed for the ceremony. once they had headed off she sent word to the king and crown prince that the girls were being prepared and that they should be ready soon. with a sigh, the woman looked to the sky and prayed that this year they would pick someone.

Serena wasn't pleased to be stripped out of her clothes and then forced into a bath. Since her hair color was such a strange color she had gone out of her way to let the dirt build-up and make her hair black but now all that hard work was gone. it took several cleanings to get the dirt up from her scalp and to make her hair shine. once they were done Serena was dressed in a pale blue strapless gown and gold bands were placed around her upper arms and ankles. once the maids were done she was escorted to the main chamber where the ceremony would be held

As she was being led to the wash room Xadé grew increasingly nervous about what was to be revealed to the maid in charge of cleaning her up and dressing her for the ceremony. How would she react, how would the older woman react and more significantly how would the king react to the dual nature of her sex. She of course had all the female parts but she also had male parts and as the maid, a young dark skinned woman in her mid thirties who had introduced herself as the previous tribute from Caen-Wyhl, started to untangle the Ivy wrapped around her body, a task usually meant for the groom as part of the wedding night, she closed her eyes and simply waited for the gasp of surprise or the cry of outrage with all of what might follow. Would the Dragon court see it as an attempt at deceit, a betrayal by the high council of Caen-Wyhl. It was neither because other than herself, her maid, her siblings and her parents no one knew about it. Perhaps her father and mother had discussed using it as a way to get her out of becoming a tribute but that would have meant revealing her secret to the entire town which might have resulted in the entire family, her mother, father and two younger sisters and brother, to be exiled.

Within mere moments however a seventh person would learn about the secret.

Duncan looked up at his brother as he announced the arrival of this generation of tributes. Had it already been another 18 years. He nodded as Alexander dropped the files sent by each city with regards to their tribute.
"I will look through these," he said and picked one at random, opening it and then waving his hand towards his brother.
He wanted to be alone.

Like his brother he too kept his hair long but not for the same reason. To him it set him apart from his subjects, made him stand out among them as he walked the streets of the city below the castle, which he had not left for a few weeks now, but the main reason for it was that it made him look good.

The maid who was tending to her spotted her extra pieces and shooed the other maids out before they could see “this is not good if the king or prince choose you you need to be very careful if they find out you tell them the truth I am assuming that this is a birth defect” the maid shook her head and then guided her to the bath and started to scrub her clean. While she cleaned the female she tried to figure out how to handle this. Knowing the others would gossip “ should you be picked to serve the royals you will have the choice to pick a maid I ask that you pick me I will keep your secret as long as I can”

Alexander nodded his head and then bowed and headed out reminding his brother that the ceremony starts in 30 minutes. Alexander did not envy his brother or the work he had to do as the king. Alexander headed back down the hall and headed to the throne room so that he would be settled and ready when the others arrived

Xadé breathed something of a sigh of relief when the maid at least made an effort to keep her secret and she nodded when the woman assumed it was a birth defect rather than a fully functional penis, if perhaps a bit on the small side. Its functionality would become obvious as the maid scrubbed her down, not that it was necessary as such since She had been bathed by her own hand maid before getting dressed up, just a bit of road dust. When Adele, as the maid's name was, reached the pubic area with her sponge Xadé's penis grew hard, as it always did even with her own hand maid back home, and the young virgin blushed and bit her lip, embarrassed at the involuntary reaction. Usually her own maid would help her out in that situation but never because Xadé asked her to and she was certainly not going to ask this new maid for such help. It would simply have to settle on its own.

She nodded at Adele's advice and instead began wondering what exactly it might mean if she got picked as the king's consort or to serve the royals. The latter did imply that it would be more than the king. She wanted to ask but at the same time she was afraid what the answer might be. She had heard rumours though that the king and his brother were both quite handsome men.

"I'll be there brother," Duncan said.
"No need to worry."
He then dropped the file back onto his desk and walked over to the window from which the city beneath the castle could be seen spreading out across the hillsides and beyond it the lush valley enclosed by the mountains. It was time for him to pick a consort as he had declined to do so 18 years ago and also 36 years ago when he had just been crowned and first took his father's place on the throne. His mother had already been on his case about it for almost a full year and, not that he had any evidence, he had a feeling his brother was up to something. Alexander was after all next in line for the throne as it stood.

Adele looked at her "ok so all the dirt is off of you thankfully you were rather clean, to begin with." Adele then helped her into the dress she would be wearing as well as the cuffs on her ankles and upper arms these would be removed when she went to her assigned job or if she was taken to one of the rooms of the royals. with a smile, Adele then changed up her hair and then escorted her out of the bathing room and to the throne room. Adele stooped at the door and wished her lucked and that she would see her soon.

Alexander sat on the second throne in the room which was on the second tier of the three-tiered stand. In the throne room, the three thrones were each made up of different metals or stones and had different accents, the one on the main for was for the second in line and was a copper throne with Ruby accents the second throne was silver with emeralds and the king's throne was obsidian with Sapphires. when his brother finally had a child of age Alexander would be pleased to move to the bottom throne or even better off of them altogether.

The dress was simple but soft and very comfortable, the cuffs around her wrists and ankles were not. They also signalled imprisonment, something the older woman had promised would not be the case. Xadé nodded when Adele explained that they were only temporary but she still failed to see any other interpretation of them than that she was a prisoner, at least until after the ceremony where one of them might get picked to become the king's consort.
"We are of course not free to leave the valley. That is the premise or being a tribute," Adele continued explaining.
"But we are also not slaves, or prisoners. We are free to move around the city on our own accord and those not chosen to serve the royals are free to consort with whomever they so wish to consort with. Marrying one of the lesser nobles even gets you out of maid service so that you can focus on raising a family."
Xadé nodded but was still not pleased with the cuffs.

With a few minutes left before the start of the ceremony Duncan buttoned up his shirt and put his deep purple jacket over it but did not button it. He then picked up the thin band of skilfully crafted Titanium that marked his status as king and placed it on his head before making his way to the throne room where Alexander had already taken his place on his throne. Duncan gave his brother a nod and took his on the king's throne.
"Let's get this ceremony started then," he said and leaned back, crossing his left leg over his right.

Alexander nodded back at his brother and then spoke “mother is on the rampage again last I saw she was swearing that if we don’t give her some grand babies and soon she was going to held us” Alexander looked at the females as they were escorted in to the room. Alexander also watched the guards as well knowing full well that some of them didn’t have mates and as soon as they could they would take one of the new tributes if they didn’t refuse them and fast. Turning his attention back to the tributes Alexander couldn’t help but chuckle at the antics of the last girl to come in “there you go brother a nice and feisty one that you can tame”

Serena was the last in line and a guard had to hold her in place as she kept trying to take off and hide. Because of the bath her hair now shined and was showing it’s true midnight blue color in full. Serena squeaked when she was shoved in to the room and mother guard grabbed her and settled her in line with the others.

Xadé was one of the first girls to be led into the throne room and placed in front of the three thrones, of which only two were occupied. The king she supposed would be the one on the highest throne and the other man would be ... his brother? The two did look very much like brothers after all. She took in their images and then quickly averted her eyes to look at the floor as.

"That's just mother being mother," Duncan said rather relaxed as he watched the eight girls being paraded through the throne room.
He agreed with his brother that the last one to enter was a lively one that might need some taming before she could be of any use at all to them. She was also quite beautiful with her oddly coloured hair and shimmering skin. There was something strange about her appearance in general but that was also the case with the dark-skinned girl who had been led in second in line.

One by one he dismissed the other six until only Serena and Xadé stood before him and his brother.
"Which one do you fancy brother? Maybe we should pick one each and see if we can't both make mother's wishes come true before summer arrives."
He of course knew that there was no way Alexander would make a choice before he had made his.
"Speak your name and what city you are from," he told the girl with the midnight blue hair.

"I think she may mean it this time brother she was holding a rather large knife when she said it" Alexander then looked the two over but motioned for his brother to go first "I would be an insult to go before you do brother" Alexander was curious as to why one of them was having to be held into place as he was under the impression that all tributes were willing to be here. Alexander picked the files up and looked at the status of them all and all said they were willing but it made him wonder given her actions.

Serena looked at him but refused to speak if he wanted to know her name or city he could look it up in the files that he had on her. Serena then looked at the other female and wondered how she could be so calm while standing in front of two men who would likely make their lives hell. Serena was fairly certain they had been picked simply because of how different they were from the others

"Of course brother," Duncan said and nodded pensively.
Both the remaining girls were intriguing in their own ways. They both had a shimmer about them that had made them stand out and the wild one's hair was just about the most beautiful thing he had seen, and so unusual. It was perhaps that and the challenge of taming such a feisty and seemingly unwilling tribute that tipped the scales in her favour, despite her reluctance to speak when asked to. He could after all simply look it up in the files later, or wait until she calmed down and accepted her fate, and her role as his consort.

While Xadé might appear calm she was not. She was nervous about her secret and upset about the cuffs, but her mother had taught her to always remain composed under any circumstances.
"My name is Xadé of Caen-Wyhl, daughter of ..."
She was then stopped by a dismissive wave of the king's hand and reminded by the guard that it was not to her the king had spoken.

"Very well then brother. I will take the feisty one."
Duncan nodded at the guard hold Serena and then removed himself from the throne and without waiting for his brother to formalise his choice began walking back to his private quarters.

Alexander nodded his head and wish him luck before he stood and walked down the two steps and looked her over “follow me” with that Alexander headed out of the throne room. While his brother went in one direction he went in another heading to his private quarters. In time his consort might get a room of her own but that would depend on her behavior and if he was willing to have her moved out of his rooms. When they arrived at his room Alexander opened the door and ushered her in. On his desk was a silver box that he walked over too and opened. Inside was a silver and emerald choker that once in place could only be removed by him. Alexander picked it up and then walked over to her and snapped it in place around her neck. “ this will allow me to track your movements at all times no matter where you go. You can try to remove it if you want but you won’t be able too” Alexander the removed the cuffs from her arms and legs before walking around her and stripping the dress from her body. He then went to his bedroom door and handed the clothes and cuffs to a maid and ordered all the clothes she would need for that summer. Alexander then turned around and got a good look at her and then raised an eyebrow when he spotted her secondary appendage “care to explain that”

Serena fought the guard who was forcing her to follow after the king only to Yelp with the guard picked her up and tossed her over his shoulder. While she had been tossed over his shoulder she had not hit hard his shoulder hard enough to be harmed. Serena looked around and did her best to memorize the way there so that she could bolt when the time was right and he had let his guard down. When they arrived at the kings personal chambers the guard spoke “where would you like me to place her your majesty?” While the guard waited for his orders Serena looked around the room and spotted an obsidian box sitting on what looked like a desk. There was something about the box that had her nervous and struggling even more to get free

Still a prisoner then, Xadé thought to herself when the choker was placed around her neck and its purpose explained to her. The cuffs were removed though as Adele had promised they would be but then the tall prince began to remove her clothes. Luckily he needed to unbutton the dress in the back and for that reason did not notice her penis until he turned around to look at her. At his mention of it and request for an explanation she covered it with both her hands rather self-consciously and stared at the floor.
"I ..." she began hesitantly.
"I was ... born this way ... Sir," she explained and then just waited for his further reaction to it.

Duncan nodded at the floor in front of his desk and then as he dismissed the guard also told him to wait outside until further instructions were given. This was of course because he realised that this girl might just try to run, or do something even more stupid, like try to hurt him before she ran.

Once the guard was out of the office Duncan stood in front of the girl whose name he still did not know.
"It is my understanding that the tributes sent from the cities we protect are to come willingly. You however do not seem to be here willingly."
He placed a hand on the obsidian box on his desk and looked at it briefly before turning his attention back to the girl.
"This will of course not change the fact that you have been offered as a tribute by your city and it will not change the fact that you will never leave my kingdom. I am however curious about your unwillingness to be here."
He then took a seat in one of the chairs used by his advisers and indicated with an open hand for her to take a seat in the other.
"Please," he said with a smile.
"Indulge me."

(so sorry I got caught up with school work)

Alexander leaned against his door and stared at her "and why was this left out of the information we made it clear to all the cities that we nee all of the information of the tributes so that we can take care of them" this information had not been in her file and neither had the other girls hair color so he knew he would be looking into some things come the next morning. Alexander was annoyed but he wasn't going to let his emotions get the best of him.

Serena looked at him but refused to sit. "I doubt that any of the tributes are willing and if they are I am betting you were not told everything about them or their intentions." Serena moved so she was further from him as it would give her a chance to move if he moved towards her. Serena's unease came in part because she hadn't expected to be alone in the room with him and she was closing in on the day when she would need to feed and if she was going to be stuck and unable to leave she would be fucked.

"B.because .... N.no one k.knows outside m.my fa.family"
Xadé was getting quite nervous when she saw the prince's reaction. It was clear from his voice and general attitude that he was displeased with her secret. She was mostly nervous that this would mean that the prince would not only reject her but worse, have her killed or imprisoned.

Duncan nodded pensively.
"I see," he said and watched the girl take a few steps away from him rather than sit down.
"It is supposed to be a great honour for the tributes to serve but perhaps that has been forgotten over generations. It is also very much a fair deal considering we have saved each of the eight cities from invaders on numerous occasions."
Having not taken a consort since he was crowned the girl's words took him slightly by surprise.
"However I sense there is more to it than what you are telling me," he added and nodded suggestively.
"Your hair for instance, and the shimmer of your skin, those are not entirely human, are they?"

Alexander grabbed one of his shirts out of his dresser which was right next to the door and tossed it to her "cover-up before you freeze to death" Alexander could tell she was getting cold as her lips were turning a little blue. given his heigh and build his shirt would act as a robe and it had been one of his winter shirts he had tossed to her. Alexander was annoyed but not with her but with her village. In his mind, nothing like this should have been kept a secret people didn't control how they were born so he would be stupid to blame the person.

Serena shifted away from him, even more, when he mentioned her hair and skin. Serena had done her best to avoid being taken let alone having them bathe her. "worry about your people rather then my hair and skin" Serena figured if he was too busy to worry about her she would be able to shift and get out of the castle before someone figured out she wasn't human at all. Serena knew if she fled she would have to travel for some time before it would be safe for her to live and hopefully have a family of her own

Xadé caught the large shirt and pulled it over her head letting it drop down her body to cover her breasts and genitals and even a little bit more than that. In fact it almost reached her knees.
"Thank you," she mumbled but didn't dare look up at the tall man towering in front of her.
The prince was at least a full foot taller than she was and broad enough for her to completely hide behind him had she wished to.
"I apologise most sincerely for the oversight of my parents in failing to inform the high council of my condition and I understand if you wish to exchange me for another consort."

"What about my people?" Duncan asked curiously as the feisty young girl suggested he should worry more about them than the oddness of her hair and skin.
He touched the fingertips of his left hand against the fingertips of his right and looked at her. It was quite obvious she was trying to somehow distract him but so far he couldn't figure out what she hoped to gain by it, except of course the obvious, a chance to escape somehow.
"How about you worrying about me losing my patience with you instead of trying to distract me?" he then said before she had a chance to respond to his question.
"I would rather not have to resort to force in order to tame you," he added as his eyes narrowed and a small puff of smoke escaped from his nostrils.

"there is no need but I do have a few things we need to go over as I doubt your parents would have held that information back when it came to the paperwork that they and you filled out" Alexander held up her file and waited to see if she had answered the questions or if someone else had on her behalf. the fact that one of the tributes wasn't willing had him more than a little concerned that other cities were doing the same thing.

"you should take care of them rather than worry about a mere human" Serena wasn't going to let him learn or suspect that she was something different but she didn't like how he was looking at her or that he was so damn dominating. Serena knew that the others would be treated well but she suspected that, that was not going to be the case for her as she was going to fight being his play thing as much as she could.

Xadé remembered the man from the high council who had visited their home a year ago, almost to the day, and spent hours in conversation with her parents but he had not spoken to her, neither had her parents except to inform her that she had been chosen as their city's tribute. It was the way things were done her mother had told her and with tears running down her face explained that it was a great honour, not just for Xadé herself but also for her family who would be greatly compensated for their sacrifice. She had no idea what the file might say about her except her age and name. It would probably also mention her education but probably nothing about how she had come into the world or how she had been conceived. When she thought about it she couldn't decide whether it was more plausible that her mother had pleaded with the representative from the high council to choose another tribute because of Xadé's dual genitals or if she had kept quiet about it to protect a daughter that was not actually her own.

"Oh but you ... You are no mere human are you?" Duncan said and stood up.
While he was nowhere as tall as his brother he still rose well above six feet off the ground in his humanoid form. He approached the stubborn girl while pointing out that he had never before seen a mere human with hair as blue as her hair was, or with skin as shifting in colour as her skin was.
"No girl. You are anything but a mere human."
His voice deeper now than moments ago, more demanding, perhaps even threatening.

Carefully planning each step he moved closer to the girl, closing off her paths to the door. If it had to come to it he would let her attack him so he could defeat her and even if it was not his wish to do so, claim her by force.
"You may think that you have been chosen to be a mere distraction, a plaything for me to relieve myself with, a toy to amuse me," he said and burrowed his gaze into her, having effectively cornered her.
"Nothing could be further from the truth. For the last 36 years since my coronation I have refrained from choosing a consort because none of the tributes have interested me the way you do."
He paused and folded his arms behind his back.
"While it is perhaps far too soon to speak words such as love I see in you someone that is more than any of the above. Someone I could make my queen. Someone I would want to bear my offspring."

He smiled at the girl with the strange hair and skin, and feisty attitude, and without another word returned to the chair, gesturing at the other chair.
"Now please do sit down and tell me your name, and I will not force anything upon you that you do not wish. Save of course servitude to my kingdom."

Alexander motioned for her to sit in the second chair by his desk “let’s go over what was sent up and see if anything is missing” Alexander had a feeling that quite a bit was either missing or incorrect. Alexander sighed and then ran his fingers through his hair tangling at the bottom and then he walked over to his desk and sat down pulling her file out and opening it up so they could go over everything in the file.

Serena shook her head and felt her teeth shift. While she wanted to hiss at him she didn’t “I am nothing special and I have no interest in possibly being a queen or a mother” Serena knew that having kids would be dangerous as her parents had been hunted and eventually killed for having her. While dragons were allergic to the dragon Lilly a bright purple flower that grew on the out skirts of her home city and vampires were allergic to silver Serena had neither of those allergies because of her blood. Serena knew if she introduced that to the Royal blood line that others would hunt for her to also force her to have off spring.
