Simon was on the verge of a panic attack.
His parents had given him the free use of the family beach house for spring break, especially now that COVID restrictions had been lifted and they were allowed to travel again. They all needed to get out of town, so he had invited them all to his beach house - to get away and enjoy some sun. But there were more people than he had expected. He had a very small circle of friends, but it seemed like they had invited some, well, extras! He didn't know where they were all going to sleep and he really hoped they wouldn't trash the place either!
As the host, Simon had claimed the master bedroom as his own. That left two other bedrooms with queen sized beds, and then the bunk room - a room over the garage that had 3 sets of bunk beds in it and a sofa bed as well. Growing up, it had been a great place for a kid to sleep, away from the adults and all. The main floor of the house had a large, open air design to it, with high ceilings, tall windows that looked out towards the ocean, and a huge patio out the back. There was a pool there too, and a path through the dunes led directly down to the beach.
Simon had escaped the madness of the group of friends who were there to get some fresh air. He needed to clear his head - perhaps being around this many people was too soon for him. He had been fine in lockdown, with his books and video games, and had never been a people person. And now, now he was surrounded by people! He didn't know what to do!
He had changed into a bathing suit, t-shirt and sandals. It was a few hours before sunset and while he was tired from traveling, he doubted he'd be able to go to bed at a normal time!
