Alexandra had been living under ground for seventeen months, two weeks, and five days. She had been keeping track mainly to keep her mind off of the hunger. Her parents had both died early on and there were about fourty people living in this tunnel underground. There was always sickness and filth everywhere. The reason they lived there was becuase undergrouns seemed to be the only place they could hide form all the demons and vampires that were running the city... well at least what was left of the city now. Alexandra was getting tired of all of this, and today was the day she snapped. She couldn't take it anymore. She was going to leave and go find actual food. and maybe even sunlight. Everyone had tried to keep her there, but everyone was too weak to actually stop her. So that day she started going towards the surface. She had heard horrible things about it from those who had gone looking for food and got a peek at what it was like. Like the air was so think with ash that your throat would start to bleed from it if you didn't have anything over your mouth. It wasn't cold though, due to the fires that still burned, but it was best to keep yourself concealed.
Alex made her way to the surface, wrapping an old, dirty yellow scarf around her face. She had on jean shorts, and a slightly torn long sleeve shirt. She was thin from not eating and pale from no sunlight. Her blond, curly hair matted and tangled from neglect though her green eyes shown brightly, even through the ashy air. She squinted as she crawled out of a sewer pipe, it had been long since used so it didn't even smell or have waste. She was an obviously dirty girl, not bathing in quite some time, but that was the least of her worries at the moment. She looked around, not quite sure of what to do first. She kept to the shadows, looking around from anything that moved. The fires had seemed to have died out in this part of town, but certian things were still burning and hot. She had to be careful not to touch them, she was already in enough danger just being out here. She made her way to an old hospital building, making her way inside and looking around for the cafeteria. She found it pretty quickly and actually found food in what seemed to be an old freezer or somehting. She had to look at it for a bit, making sure she wasn't dreaming. She had really found canned food. She let her guard down, gathering up as much as he little arms could carry, intending to take it back to the tunnel for everyone. She just hoped she would make it.
