Leaving Conversations

I only leave a conversation if it’s i feel like we are not going anywhere, got cases where some toxic RP partners played the victims and i got fed up with it.

I’m not partaking in this little "game", it’s not healthy nor justifiable.

Communication is key. Don’t leave a convo to blow off steam. Leave a convo when you’re no longer interested in the story.

I leave convos to keep my inbox clean. I don’t really care to keep convos which I’m no longer speaking to the recipient. Unless it’s our PM story. I definitely keep those. But for ghosted/no reply convos I definitely don’t keep them since they never even cared to give a yay or nay to the prompt I was interested in from their RT. Too much to keep track off at that point for me.

I’ve honestly had maybe two or three users where the conversations were getting nowhere and I decided to block them when what I said was being misconstrued. It honestly felt like it was done on purpose by them because the level of mental gymnastics they were doing was on par with the Olympic level. I said my goodbyes and then blocked them to avoid further headache.

Thankfully the vast majority of ladies I speak to aren’t like that. So when I leave the convo I’m open to talking again. But it doesn’t matter to me if they respond to my goodbye or not. I’ve gone through both circumstances. As long as things end amicably I’m open to starting a story again with her in the future which has been the case a handful of times for me.

Oh, and it’s absolutely wild to have someone request to come back into the convo after leaving when they’re no longer upset. Just leave your device and take a walk for heaven’s sake. You forfeit the right to come back since you’re most likely going to do the same action when you’re upset. Be an adult and discuss in a cordial fashion. If you don’t care to fix the problems then just say so before leaving. Simple as that.

I am extremely trigger-happy with my usage of that leave-button. That way I can easily get the OOC and/or RP out of sight and out of mind if I feel like they have ran their course. Sometimes I let RP or PM waiting for reply sit in my inbox for many many months if I feel like my partner will come back, other times I might leave within 24 hours of my reply if I get the feeling that I won't be hearing from the said person again, and sadly this obscure hunch I have is correct more often than not.

I do however leave conversations open for replies always if I end up leaving it. That way if my hunch was proven wrong I get the positive surprise of the convo popping into my inbox, i can just reply to it and we can continue our chat and/or play, and if not then I don't have to look at the unreplied RP or OOC-chat in my inbox.

So yeah. leave-button + leave open for further replies-option are my beloved combo

I forgot, i do not only leave if the other was purely toxic, it can be for others reasons, perhaps too long to make it a list..

Stalking, manipulating, deceiving, and others things like that..

Ironically, i barely got any partners, but a tons to block on another space.

I've found that most people who leave conversations (with me, anyway, YMMV) were just scared of how I'd react after giving me the reason why. I don't personally get it; I'm not the type to get offended, but I imagine they had one unpleasant experience at one point with another RPer and have been avoiding that kind of thing like the plague since.

I can’t read people’s minds, and without communication I wouldn’t know. I know some can say that if they don’t answer, just let it sit, but that’s a disrespect of my time. Guess I’m touchier about people wasting the little roleplaying time that I do have.

I got to the point where I start conversations, approaching people for their requests and sit there waiting for a reply. Only to realize its been a week and I just leave them.

I think its about time to just admit this website in particular has a ghosting culture, as well as a preference to ignore how people feel for being left hanging.

Sure no one likes to be confrontational, but what we see now is a clear disregard to the consequences of such actions. We nurtured the safety of avoiding confrontations to the point where it became an abused privilege.

How you free for being ignored or dropped out of a conversation be damned. Obviously this will lead to people being less enthusiastic about engaging others. At some point you’ll be left with barely anyone to engage with.

But as long as we all feel safe in our methods, the rest is pointless.

Here’s an amusing anecdote. In the past two years I found more prolific and engaging partners in the booru websites than I had here. Take that as a precedent to what this website has become.

I think it’s just a thing of decency.

Hey, this isn’t really my jam.

My interest in this has definitely waned.

I know it sucks, but I’m not feeling this anymore, didn’t want to leave you in limbo.

It’s not that difficult, really.

While the recipient might feel a type of way at first, it’s better than being left hopeful and worse yet excited for days.

Unfortunately a certain perception was created where saying “no” or “not interested” or any variation, would result in the other person to break into a tirade of verbal insults and abuse and a horrific experience.

While that happens, it is in the minority, and it speaks a lot about how people perceive each others when the first impression they get is one of hostility.

Its a sad state if affairs, but decency is not a concern. With how things are, its slowly turning into an abhorrent privilege to expect a decent treatment from others.

Curious thing is, no-one has ever left a conversation with me. So I am like, what are you guys doing to have people just walk away like that?

Maybe you can ask them since they did not deign to divulge their reasons?

This is part of the problem where everyone thinks there’s a negative reason behind people’s disregard of common courtesy.

Most of time there is no other reason other than them feeling bored, or losing interest. And rather than informing their partner they just walk away. Most often than not we inherently believe whoever complains about ghosting is the one at fault. And we never consider that people are just becoming more rude and childish in how they handle their social interactions.

Good for you if you found people who stuck around for you. I certainly haven’t.

Everything sounds great. Anything else you want to discuss before we start?

Just talking normally really.

I’ve been told that they felt the conversation was going stale. Yeah. Because you let it sit there.
