In my day to day, it's normally my own voice in my head when I think something. Occasionally, it's images if they're invoked or drawn out imaginings if I've slipped into a day dream or something, but mostly it's me talking to me. If I'm RPing, then I might have a guest as the character sort of talks to me. The more I get into the head of that character or the longer I play them, the more clear the voice gets, but normally only when I'm doing something that involves them or might interest them.

my mind is a disorganized mess of images, sounds, and somehow feelings that may or may not be related to things at present. i use internal dialogue when i'm trying to accurately read writing and i typically assign a voice to the words depending on how i perceive the speaker, although i struggle with this at times due to my previously mentioned mess of a brain.

i think it's kind of learned behavior for me, though. i dunno if it's common for other people, but i started this habit after reading a lot of books when i was a kid. reading with a voice ALWAYS helped me with harder texts so i just started doing it subconsciously. funny now how i have to focus a little harder to do it though.

It's more like inner chorus or forum.

I have to do a lot of eletro-mechanical trouble shooting in my line of work. I have my "engineer voice" that I work with. Sometimes asking myself questions internally or externally, helps me think differently about the problem I am assessing.

In writing I do something similar. For lack of a better term I have mental profiles I shift into to react to a situation and or for creating dialogue. It's like mental vetroliqism or puppeting. The voices/mannerisms are different, but they are still me. I'll have o think on this to create a better way to illustrate or explain.

I talk to myself aloud a lot. And I talk to myself inwardly a lot.
But that's also distinct from thoughts I have that aren't part of a concious "conversation" I'm having with myself.

I think in two languages and flashing images. I also struggle with internal monologues about the most random things because adhd, and sometimes those internal monologues become external. It's fine when I'm at home but sometimes it happens when I'm out in public and that's a whole other level of embarrassment.

This is a hard topic for me since it really depends on the situation.

Casually, I hear a voice that is me. That voice talks to me and is also me. It is hard to explain... It will be like, "You are getting a lot of work done!" Vs. "I'm getting a lot of work done!"

I've noticed I've done this in journaling too. I want to write as me but also to me. I'm not sure exactly what it means. "Why am I feeling sad today?" Vs. "Why are you feeling sad today?"

For more serious matters, I often split myself into parts and talk (in my head) to each.

I sure do. Without it I wouldn't be able to figure out - or vent off - half the shit I do.

But only in private.

I definitely have an inner dialogue... I have lengthy, in depth conversations with myself off & on throughout the day. Sometimes dort of rehashing conversations I recently had with someone else or preparing for an upcoming conversation... Or just random thoughts that I need to talk through but have no one to talk to about it in that moment.

I also tend to work out my RP replies this way... At least to start, and then continue it throughout the writing process. Like.. I need to hear it in my head to make sure it makes sense & sounds good before I commit to it. The only issue, thus far, is that I tend to talk faster than I type, and because I said the word in my head my brain tricks me into believing I wrote it... So I occasionally miss entire words 😔

I have a distinct speaking voice inside my head, with full-on sentences and answers to my thoughts. I can also vividly imagine pictures, faces, objects and scenarios. It’s actually how I was able to get into lucid dreaming, and an even deeper dream state using Astral Projection. My head space is so clear, it always amazes me when I meet someone on the opposite end of the spectrum.

I have an inner dialogue, movie screen, VR, etc, etc... My imagination suits me well for RP, putting myself in others shoes, wild ass dreams, you name it. Works against me sometimes, too 😂
