Panther crouched liked a wounded animal in his corner of the ring, watching the Cougars walk slowly towards him, hips swaying, tits bouncing, coming as a pack for their prey.

They had systematically out fought him, shattered his confidence, drained his energy, forced him to submit, and all within the rules.

The referee, Scarlet, was climbing out of the ring. The fight by the rules was over. The Cougars were moving in for the kill.

The arena was silent, any sound absorbed by the thick dark velvet of the furnishings. The spectators watched from their booths, like Vultures waiting to pick his carcass clean.

‘Have you ever heard of the Velvet Lounge?’

That’s Eileen, the manager of Kurt who fights under the name of Panther. He thought and then shook his head. ‘Nope, I’ve heard of lots of Lounges, but never a velvet one.’

She pushed a brochure across her desk, stretching forward and giving him a view into her blouse. Braless as usual, but her tits were so small it didn’t matter. Kurt looked at her rather than the blouse, as he was expected to, until she straightened up. Then he flicked through the gloss brochure at the photographs.

‘As you see, the whole place is done out in black or dark purple velvet, with booths in tiers so that all the customers get a good view of the ring. Turn the page and you’ll see how it looks with the subdued lighting.’

Kurt did as he was told. That was always a good idea with Eileen. ‘Yeah,’ he admitted, ‘very atmospheric.’

‘Even the staff are dressed in dark clothes to blend with the background. But when the fight is on, all the lights go out, except for some low lights in the individual booths.’ She leaned over, giving Kurt another long view into her blouse as she flicked a page. ‘See what it’s like. Almost pitch black, apart from the ring itself.’

‘No one will be able to find me if I fall out of the ring,’ Kurt flashed a bright smile that he knew Eileen liked.

She reached out and laid her hand on his. ‘Don’t worry, you’ll be wearing a white thong, and no one is going to miss that.’

‘Looks expensive.’ Kurt ignored the obvious flirting; he was mentally calculating what the purse might be for a fight there.

‘Limited – there are only 500 seats – and exclusive, so yes expensive.’

‘Ah, I know her.’

He had stopped at page which was filled with a full length of a broad-shouldered flame-haired woman, dressed in red thigh boots, black fish nets, and a red jacket that stopped just short of covering her ass and crotch.

‘Scarlet, the resident referee. You’ve met then.’

‘She fought under the name of Vixen. Moderately successful a few years back. Our paths crossed a couple of times, but then she had a bad fall during a fight and retired. I wondered what had become of her.’

‘Well, you’ll be able to chat about old times, because she’s going to be the ref when you fight the Cougars.’

‘You mean there’s more than one? Never heard of them. Are they new on the circuit?’

‘Individually, no, but as a team yes.’

‘So they’re a tag team. You’re putting me up against a tag team.’

‘No, not a tag team, just a team, they are both in the ring at once, to even up the odds against a muscle bull like you, they are allowed to fight you at the same time. It’s all the rage in these private clubs.’

‘Is it? well, you never get me booked into these private clubs, so I wouldn’t know.’ He sounded bitter as well he might because they paid better, much better.

‘I have now, lover, and I hope you appreciate it.’

‘I do, Eileen, honestly I do.’

‘So, show me.’ she rose and walked slowly over to the sofa under the large window in her office, shedding her clothes as she went.

Eileen came with a shudder and soft groan. She immediately climbed off Kurt and made her way back to her desk, collecting her clothes as she did so, without bothering to put them on. Kurt lay on the sofa watching her body as it crossed the office, wondering if she extracted the same payment from all the fighters she managed.

‘You’ll want to know about the rules.’ Her tone was business like and she barely glanced at Kurt’s body as he dressed himself. ‘The fight will be split into five minute rounds.’

‘Really?’ This was not what Kurt had expected. ‘I thought that there were no rounds in those places.’

‘Normally, yes, but the Velvet Lounge is different. The rounds allow the staff to deliver orders without disturbing the action. Now, where was I, ah yes. Submissions only. No falls or knockouts. Three submissions to win. The girls are allowed to fight as a team, so they can both be in the ring at the same time. No lowblows. No sexual moves are allowed, not until after the fight is over, that is. Fighters can also make use of the ropes, turnbuckles. A sequence of moves can be continued outside the ring at the referee’s discretion. Pretty standard stuff for the Lounge. All clear?’

‘Yeah, thanks, Eileen, I appreciate this, I really do. Just one thing you haven’t mentioned, the purse. How much do I get?’

She showed him a figure. He quickly deducted her fee. ‘Fuck,’ he said.

‘Are you up for it already?’ She raised an eyebrow.

‘For that fee, sure I am.’

She stood up, still naked, and walked back to the sofa.

‘Your turn to go on top,’ she announced. ‘I’ve had a busy day.’

Kurt had only just entered his dressing room when the door opened and Scarlet walked in. Not yet dressed for her role as referee, she was wearing loose-fitting jeans and a floppy t-shirt. She hadn’t bothered knocking.

‘Hey, long time no see, how are you doing, Kurt.’

Kurt flashed a smile, genuine. ‘Not so bad, and how about you Scarlet? You’re looking good.’

She flashed him a smile in return, genuine too, and handed him a package. He opened it to find a glistening white thong.

‘Those are your shorts, well posing pouch more like. They’ll go well with your, er, tan.’ They both laughed. ‘They clean, new in fact, so no worries about wearing them.’ Kurt held them up, then checked the label. ‘My size, so you remembered.’

‘How could I forget?’ Scarlet had taken time to answer. ‘Look, Kurt, I’ll leave you to get changed, or whatever you need to do.’ They both knew what that mean. Guys often jerked off before a contest, to prevent any early show of affection for their opponents.

Scarlet turned to leave but stopped at the door. ‘Just between the two of us, Kurt, the Cougars have a side deal with management. Their purse will be doubled if they trash you.’ Then she was gone, leaving Kurt to wonder what she meant and what her motives were. What this a genuine tip-off, or was she playing her part in the psychological drama that was planned for the evening?

There was a notice in Kurt’s dressing room setting out the timing and running order.

All wrestlers to wait in their dressing rooms.

Announcer introduces Scarlet as the referee.

Cougars to move to entrance while she receives applause.

Announcer introduces Cougars.

Panther moves to entrance while they receive applause.

Announcer introduces Panther.

As Kurt was listening the announcer’s introduction, there was a tap on his door and a waitress walked him. Did no one knock here?

‘Hi,’ she smiled professionally, ‘I’m Mandy, here to escort you to the entrance. So you don’t get lost.’ She was obviously one of the waiting staff, dressed in tight black trousers and tailored purple shirt, in order to blend with the background.

‘Am I likely to get lost?’ it was a serious question and earned him a genuine smile.

‘There are several entrances and the corridors all look the same.’

They checked each other out discreetly, as Scarlet was being introduced. She was older than he had first thought, in her 30s certainly, possibly late 30s.

As the announcer began the build up for the Cougars, Mandy opened the door.

‘Isn’t it a little early?’ Kurt glanced in the direction of the running order on the wall.

‘Don’t take any notice of that, it’s quite a way and you don’t want to keep the ladies waiting.’

She caught the puzzled look on Kurt’s face.

‘Didn’t they tell you it was ladies only tonight? You’re the only man in the building.’

No, no one had told him. Not that he was bothered, just surprised that men would not be allowed to wait the Cougars.

Mandy walked close to Kurt as they made their way along several corridors. He wondered if they were not actually going in a circle, but it was impossible to tell as all the corridors did indeed look alike. They bumped against each other as they walked, but Kurt could never be sure whether it was accidental.

‘Almost there,’ Mandy told him softly, as the announcer invited the audience to ‘welcome Gina and Jenny, the Cougars.’

As the applause died away, the announcer began Kurt’s build up.

‘I can see why they’re charging a premium on tickets for tonight.’ Mandy planted a kiss on Kurt’s cheek and opened the curtain to the auditorium.

Kurt paused on the threshold, not to build up the tension but stunned at the view, which the photographs he had seen barely captured. The ring was flooded with light but the tiers of black booths around it were in darkness, with only downlights casting shadows along the front edges. The applause as he walked to the ring seemed to come from nowhere.

As soon as he had climbed into the ring, the announcer began to set out the rules. But Kurt was not listening, he was looking at his opponents. Gina, he knew, was the redhead; Jenny was blonde. Both were dressed in quite modest red bikinis, although their breasts were so small they hardly needed any support. Both had light even tans. But he was more interested in their muscles. They looked more like bodybuilders than wrestlers, with tight hard muscles. And, like so many female bodybuilders, their features were quite masculine, probably from the drugs they used to develop their physique.

Scarlet’s words of warning came back to him, as did Mandy’s remarks about this being a ladies only, premium ticket event.

As the announcer finished, Scarlet stepped into the centre of the ring and the bell rang for the start of the fight. She beckoned the fighters forward, raised her hand to hold them apart and then moved back. The fight was on.

Some fights begin like a game of chess, with the fighters sizing each other up and testing out different moves. Other begin with a flurry of activity and that was how this began. Gina and Jenny rushed at the ropes to launch themselves in their assault on Panther, who did the same. Fighters cross and criss-crossed the ring, each trying to get an advantage, each hoping for an opponent to make a mistake.

Panther knew that his was the first mistake although he wasn’t sure how it happened. He suddenly realised that he had lost track of Jenny, so when Gina bounced off the ropes and barrelled into him, he wasn’t surprised when he stepped back and fell over Jenny who was kneeling behind him. unable to maintain his balance, he fell onto his back. His instinct told him to roll away, fast, but the Cougar’s move had been well-rehearsed: Jenny twisted and grabbed him by ankles and Gina, who was moving into position even as he toppled, grabbed his wrists. Before he was fully aware of what was happening, they had hoist him off the canvas and were swinging him left and right. he tried to pull free and squirmed to try to weaken their grip, but without success.

‘One’

It was Gina calling out.

‘Two’

That was Jenny now.

‘Three’

The pair called together as they swung him high and released their grip in unison, leaving Panther to sail through the air and land on the ropes. Gina was immediately at his feet, as Jenny slid under the ropes to pull him from outside the ring. He was left, hanging, with the Cougars dragging him down, breaking his back across the top rope, dragging him from side to side.

If he hoped for Scarlet ordering them to break, he was mistaken.

‘Use of ropes lawful,’ her voice rang through the small mic on her jacket. ‘Follow up outside ring legitimate.’

The spectators murmured their approval.

There was no way Panther could escape this hold, not unless one of the Cougars made a mistake. His one positive thought was that this was just a weakening move, which soon bored audiences who expected action and variety. All he could do was endure the pain and be prepared for some sign that the women would change tact.

Whatever the sign was, he didn’t notice it. Gina released his feet and he was sailing head over heels out of the ring, then down and down until-

‘AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH’

He couldn’t suppress the scream of pain as he landed on Jenny knee, right in the small of his back where the pressure from the ropes had been. Beautifully timed and judged. Professionally, he had to admire their skill. Personally, he felt sick.

Then Scarlet’s voice rang out again. ‘New manoeuvre, break and return to the ring.’

Jenny immediately stood, letting Panther tumble to the floor. By the time he was on his feet, both women were back in the ring, standing in the centre as he rolled under the bottom rope. He leaned back against the ropes and took a deep breath. They were waiting, forcing him to make a move, knowing they were both waiting. Ideally he wanted to separate them, but saw no way to do that. summoning his strength, he used the propulsion from the ropes to shoot him across the ring, intending to divert to the left and tackle Jenny, but two simultaneous standing drop kicks caught him, one on the chest, the other on his chin, knocking him to the canvas where the girls jumped onto his ankles, pulling his legs apart in a vicious splits.

The audience’s reaction was the usual mixture of female giggles and sadistic cheers.

Panther kicked out with his feet hoping to dislodge the pair, but they simply let go, leaving his rolling around looking more than faintly ridiculous. As he clambered to his feet, the Cougars separated. The only question in his mind, in anyone’s mind, was whether they would attack together or separately. The answer came before he was properly upright. Gina moved in to execute a flying drop kick, sending him back to the canvas. As he rose, Jenny did the same from the opposite side. It was as if they were playing skittles with him. No one, least of all Panther, was surprised when Gina landed a third kick as he trying to stand up again, but Jenny did not stand back to repeat the trick. She jumped forward to grab an ankle as he fell, and Gina rolled to catch the other. Panther landed on his chest, as the girls ripped his legs apart in another splits before pulling his legs up and leaning their weight onto his back in a Boston Crab.

It had to be the end of the round, surely. Panther knew this thought was sign of impending defeat, but he could see no way to counter these skilful, superbly fit and athletic women.

But it was not the end of the round and the women were not done with him yet.

Rising from the Boston Crab, they threw themselves to either side, tear his groin open again and, without releasing their grip, came together and began to spin, faster and faster until-

As the buzzer went to end the first round, Panther was sailing through the air to crash into his corner and collapse in an ungainly heap.
